> CBS This Morning did a nice story on Tito Santana. It's nice to see a story about one of the old timers who saved their money and have found a purpose after wrestling.

Well, being a matador isn't exactly a growth industry these days...

  1. Around Wrestlemania, NJ.com did a rather lengthy write-up on Tito's story that included video, and it was a very nice piece. Looks like TV is piggybacking off of that, but I'm surprised they didn't ask this guy for comment:

Bobby H: Did you know Tito holds a place in Guiness' Book of World Records?

    Gorilla: Yeah? For what?

Bobby H: He picked 1,600 heads of lettuce in 1/2 an hour.

    Gorilla: Will you stop!

  2. Yeah. His autobiography isn't bad either. Never new he lived in Jersey until a few years ago.

  7. I thought it was just general Mexican racism, i.e. "the flying jalapeno." Also, I had a lot of tacos and stayed up all night on the toilet.

  11. He is. Went in in 2004.

  12. I thought they had a brief feud right before Jesse retired from the ring...of course I'm basing this strictly on memory from 27 years ago.

  13. I got to meet Tito during a wrestling convention in New Jersey 20 years ago and he was ridiculously cool to me, spending 5-10 minutes talking to me about stuff. Really glad to see he's doing well for himself. He was always one of my favorites.

  14. one of the all time greats.

as mentioned so often before, somehow I doubt we will consider hardly anyone from today who is on the same "level" as Tito was back in his career as an all time great in the future.

  15. What was awesome about Tito was he had great matches with everyone -- as a kid I remember him facing Valentine, Orndorff, Savage and then tag teams with Martel. All of those mataches were very good.

  16. And if so, why didn't you know about it?

  17. Jesse actually beat Tito Santana in an Intercontinental Title match at the Boston Gardens.
