Comments

  1. Without looking, I'll guess that Goldberg's collection will feature 15 matches for a run time of twelve minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  2. That wresltemania xx match is no fun if they edit the crowd reactions.

    ReplyDelete
  3. With crowd heat that dwarfs most matches that go 20 minutes long.

    ReplyDelete
  4. They have to do a lot of editing when it comes to WM20 these days.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Sorry Jesse, but if you didn't have that in writing, that's on you. Never take that kind of declaration at face value.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I won't deny that Goldberg was a huge star who drew a great reaction...but 3 DVDs is a lot for a guy with such a relatively short career whose matches were mostly all pretty much the same.

    ReplyDelete
  7. He was one of the biggest stars in wrestling, when even mid carders are getting DVDs, he deserves one.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Even if he DID have it in writing, there's no way a company can guarantee that. It sucks that they got rid of the guy as a cost-cutting measure, but it was bound to happen eventually if he couldn't get back in the ring.

Maybe Dixie should have promised to front him the $600 for his bodybuilding show.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I loved Goldberg, but that Raven match still pisses me off.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yeah, if John Morrison can get a DVD, Goldberg should easily be able to get a three-disc set.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Didn't Vince promise Bret a job for life back in 1996? That didn't work out either.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yeah, but I wish it consisted of a documentary rather than three discs of matches. That's the point here.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Reeks of the dying days of TNA, guys.

    ReplyDelete
  14. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryJuly 24, 2013 at 1:34 PM

Actually, they did have it in writing, but Dixie ate the contract whole.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think that makes Dixie look worse. She should know you can't reasonably promise someone a job for life. Promising a lifetime job to a guy who was almost crippled while working for you just sets you up to look awful when it falls apart. Totally self-inflicted gunshot wound.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm disappointed in the lack of Jerry Flynn

    ReplyDelete
  17. May I ask why?

I agree that Raven should have had a bigger push, but he got more offense on Goldberg than anyone at that point and they had a good little match with a crowd as jacked as any you will ever see.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Raven had a long, hard fought feud with DDP. He should have been US Heavyweight champion for longer than 1 day. There was far more that Raven could have done with that belt than Goldberg.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Disk 2 is going to be all the Jerry Flynn matches.
Disk 3 is going to be all the Scott Putski matches.
Blu - Ray Exclusives The Complete Gillberg

    ReplyDelete
  20. Goldberg vs. Saturn Spring Stampede 98 should have been on there, instead Starrcade 98 for the millionth time.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Firing a guy who broke his neck for your company and came back? Way to make McMahon look a candidate for sainthood.

    ReplyDelete
  22. A job for life? LOL

Just quickly, did he get injured because of faulty TNA ring equipment? Or did he screw up a move? Because if its the latter, he got hurt working for the company but the company didn't cause the injury via shoddy equipment.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Someone screwed up a move on him

    ReplyDelete
  24. Still not TNA's fault.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Per Jimmy Hart WWE have been working to buy the WCW themes library from Turner, so hopefully they keep the great entrances from DDP-Goldberg. That crowd was RAUCOUS.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Add a documentary and shorten the matches down to 15 or so and you have a winner

    ReplyDelete
  27. Promised a job for life? Sounds legit... my heart bleeds.

A Goldberg dvd? With THREE discs? What do you possibly put on there? Off the top of my head, Raven, Hogan, DDP, Sting, nd Steiner are the only matches that stand out. I guess HHH and Lesnar

    ReplyDelete
  28. The only Goldberg match I ever thought was good was against DDP from Halloween Havoc 98.

Don't get me wrong, the streak was a cool thing and a big draw, but it's not like it provided a plethora of **** classics.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Only problem is I think that Goldberg theme is a "freelance" theme, made by an artist to be purchased by whoever wants it. I believe back in the day I heard it on a History Channel war documentary.

Might as well bring up the other theme--that DDP smells like teen spirit theme is a BEAUTY

    ReplyDelete
  30. Why? What's wrong with Stevie Richards winning the World Title at Wrestlemania and hugging Eddie Guerrero?

    ReplyDelete
  31. For all we know, she didn't break her promise! Maybe she sold TNA and hasn't announced it yet; hence, she's in no position to have kept the promise!

    Yeah, I got nothin'.

    ReplyDelete
  32. He should have gotten it in writing.

Hell, Bischoff/Hogan got her to sign away the company without her even looking at the contract!

    ReplyDelete
  33. A "job for life" is a really stupid promise to have ever made if that's a true story.
    Give me a break.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have no problem weigh him getting a DVD. He does deserve one. however, I personally have zero interest.

    ReplyDelete
  35. if you have twitter or know how it works, get over there and check out the #AskDixie trend. It is hilarious. I had no idea so many fans could be so mean and funny

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love Raven, but it kind of made sense that he ratfucked his way to the title only to get demolished the next night. As a heel, he was that kind of conniving coward that you wanted to see get his comeuppance and having Goldberg be the guy worked in context. I certainly think Raven should have been something more in WCW, but he didn't need titles either way for this schtick to work

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah, pretty soon that thing will be chopped down to HHH and HBK wrestling each other one-on-one and Goldberg/Lesnar will be amped up to Punk/Bryan status

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah, well worth doing a DVD covering his rise to stardom, but I can only think of a handful of matches worth including. Do a four-minute compilation of all the squashes and you're left with a half dozen worthwhile inclusions

    ReplyDelete
  39. I fully expect them to just replace it with a sim of HHH vs. HBK in WWE 13.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Granted, it has to be on there. That and the Hogan match.

The match listing is pretty much perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Where does Glacier fit in?

    ReplyDelete
  42. True, but Bret still ended up with millions of dollars. Jesse sure as hell won't.

    ReplyDelete
  43. -I don't see any reason for Sorensen to lie, but you never know. Either way it is horrible PR for TNA.

-Hall and Austin should be epic.

-How do you get three disks out of freakin' Goldberg???

I normally hate anything that even remotely has to do with Twatter, but that's fucking awesome.

  53. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryJuly 24, 2013 at 5:42 PM

I'm no expert in the civil side of law (the criminal side, however...) but would he have any case if he sued Zemma Ion? Probably not, right? Not that Ion has any money anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  54. You mean like how Bret Hart got that 20 year contract in writing?

    ReplyDelete
  55. #AskDixie Did you ever bang that black dude on Designing Woman?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Goldberg's matches were short! HA!

No, wait...I think I did that wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Obviously, but his match where he won the U.S. Title from Raven was crazy fun and the World Title win over Hogan is still one of the great moments in the history of our sport.

Too bad the Regal match isn't included.

    ReplyDelete
  58. That'd pretty much KILL whatever wrestling career he'd ever have. Wrestlers suing each other over wrestling mistakes?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Full disclosure: I am a WWE homer. However, I do not rejoice in the company's recent decline. If Dixie would change the friggin' company name, start listening to the right people, and cut the right people, the company would be better off. The sad thing is that Dixie means well and has the best of intentions. But after making deals with slick, deceptive people instead of innovative or blue collar people, she's left with what she has right now.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Circumstances change maybe TNA were forced to make the cut..... lots of false promises get broken in business not necessarily because they are malicious but because they are a necessity. It isn't good publicity but shit happens.

and a icture of nell carter naked and eating a kit kat

    ReplyDelete
  62. Agreed, but she should have had the brains to do some research before getting daddy to buy her a wrestling company, Seriously, since she's been there she has brought in Russo, Nash, Hogan and Bischoff. A dream team of guys who kill companies.

But now, they may be too far gone. I've been trying to think of what it would take to give me some hope for TNA's future and pretty much the only things would be selling the company to a new buyer or firing Hogan and Bischoff.

The Rockers broke a jobbers neck and he sued them and the WWF - he was award a settlement. Or they settled. Either way he got that money money yeah yeah.

downvote for you, you mean man

    ReplyDelete
  68. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryJuly 24, 2013 at 6:46 PM

Yeah, it probably would, though seeing as how he broke his fucking neck he should probably call it a career anyway.

I didn't think of it when I made the above post, but there is kind of a precedent here: some jobber named Charles Austin had his neck broken when Marty Jannetty hit him with a fucked up Rocker Droppper, and he sued the WWF and The Rockers (it was a tag match). Shawn was dismissed from the case right away (he was just standing on the apron and had nothing to do with the botch, and from then on just did the finish like he was supposed to, not knowing that Austin broke his neck), but Austin won a cool $26.7 million from Vince and Marty. This old AP aricle (http://www.apnewsarchive.com/1994/Wrestler-Wins-$27-Million-Over-Ring-Stunt/id-1e0d4ecf9a2328314d8f596ddc023f99 ) explains it. So as far as I know, the last to try suing for this won. Just saying.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Huh....well, I'm no lawyer. But is that precedent?

    ReplyDelete
  79. If you're making a three-disc Goldberg set, there are worse ideas than including the ENTIRE streak. Like, all 173 matches plus the loss to Nash. Most are very short anyway, so if you cut out entrances (except for bigger bouts like the ones against Raven, DDP, Nash, Hogan, etc.) you could fit literally every single one of his bouts onto a couple of DVDs. Then, the third disc could be his post-streak WCW stuff and his WWE run.

  80. Easter Eggs

    ReplyDelete
  81. Well this is some pretty crummy wrestling news. Former NXT developmental talent DT Porter accused of murdering his girlfriend. http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/ex-pro-wrestler-the-future-donovan-ruddick-arrested-in-fatal-stabbing-of-tampa-woman/2013/07/25/76dcdd8c-f522-11e2-81fa-8e83b3864c36_story.html

He was the guy whose facebook was "hacked" and had this posted in it last year (After this kinda doubt it was hacked):

"Guys, I don't know how much longer I can handle this. Every day is a constant struggle to keep my sanity. I love wrestling and it's all I ever wanted to do. Already going crazy since I've been for like ten months now, but it gets worse. Every day a trainer goes out of his way to rib or disrespect me in front of the boys because I've been out so long. I can't clear myself. I wanna wrestle more than anything, but I don't even know who I am anymore. It's so f--king hard. I just feel it just building inside of me and I don't know how much longer I can contain it. I have daydreams of just f--king everyone up on some real s--t. I'm not a kid. I'm a f--king man. But what do you do when the people in charge of helping you get to the main roster are the ones making your life the hardest. I've been drinking almost every day. It's to the point to where I keep Vodka and Gin in my trunk. Help me!"
