Cena/Bryan/Orton and the Cena Factor

Got to totally disagree with your comment about the whole "Bryan beats Cena only to be beaten by Orton after the match" scenario. Partly because it violates the rule that Cena must ALWAYS be the center of attention in the WWE.

A more likely scenario is this: Orton cashes in his MITB briefcase against Cena before the PPV. Vince makes him do it (because he's pissed Bryan was picked as his opponent) or Orton does it because he can't get a match signed at the PPV, or because Orton realizes that Bryan knows he'll cash in if he wins the match, so he does the opposite and forces a confrontation at the PPV, by cashing in at the PPV.

Orton beats Cena, cheating to do so and basically then losing the belt to Bryan at Summerslam. Cena can go into Summerslam, perhaps going up against the Wyatt clan as part of a six man tag, with Kane and R-Truth and a mystery partner who turns out to be Cena.

This way, per the logic that Cena must be the center of the universe, after Summerslam, Cena vs Orton becomes the main feud as he seeks to avenge his title loss to Orton. Bryan gets the CM Punk treatment, going down into the undercard to fight Ambrose, Axel Curtis, etc and treated as an afterthought by everyone because only Cena matters.

You're right, Jesse, that's a far more likely and logical scenario.  I don't know what I was thinking this morning.

  1. Then Cena wins the Rumble, and faces HIMSELF at Wrestlemania XXX.

    Perfect.

  2. What about when Cena faced Punk at Summerslam 2011, lost, then Punk had Nash run in and Del Rio cash in? At least in that instance Cena was the farthest thing from the Center of Attention.

  3. Cena can use rematch clause to get himself into the Summerslam match. It'd be a triple threat with Orton defending vs. Bryan and Cena.

  4. They could always Foley DBry's first WWE Title reign. Orton beats Cena before Summerslam, Bryan beats Orton at Summerslam with Cena's help to drive home that Cena's the reason that Bryan won. It also sets up another Orton/Cena main event at Night of Champions to end their conflict in some sort of convoluted gimmick match while Bryan can jerk the curtain against Alberto Del Rio or Dolph Ziggler, depending on who is WHC by that point. Cena and Orton somehow go to a non-finish, because Hell in the Cell is next month, and we end up with Cena/Orton AGAIN in the main event Hell in a Cell match to determine who faces Bryan at Survivor Series. Bryan wrestles a member from either The Real Americans or The Shield somewhere in the middle of the show. Cena prevails in a bloodless, but heavily gimmicked HIAC match (OMG! He AA'ed Orton THROUGH the ring!). Cena then turns his attention to Bryan for the month of November. We get a goofy respect storyline where Cena laughs off DBry as being legit, DBry turns heel to prove he's legit, and Cena beats DBry at Survivor Series with the STF.

I actually mailed that in crayon to Titan Towers as part of my application for Creative a week ago. I have an interview next week.

  5. Gotta love that Jesse is so afraid to post now that he just directly emails Scott directly.

  6. Needs a few weddings and a dream sequence.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Except it was Cena who ended up in the title match at the next three pay-per-views. But other than that he wasn't the center of attention.

  8. SMACKDOWN TEASEJACK!~

Pretty sure that Big E Langston has proven himself to be asexual.

    ReplyDelete
  9. have I ever said anything booking-wise about dream sequences or weddings?

  10. More like I have a life and don't spend every waking moment of the day and night obsessing over the feedback section like you do.

  11. Lol yeah right bro.

  12. Since he's pretty much a member of the Divas division now, I just think he's not a lesbian

  13. Imagine a world where Jesse Baker booked ROH. Those fans would be shitting themselves.

The guy from 30 Rock could be Vince McMahon's son.

  15. Scott's scenario still wins out as it doesn't involve burying the Wyatt family in their first month in the company

    ReplyDelete
  16. Look, maybe this particular scenario isn't how it'll play out, but let's not pretend that Jesse doesn't have a point. This isn't one of the hundred craziest things he's said. Regardless of what happens with Bryan, Orton, and the title, Cena will remain the focus of the show.

I know it's a past-time around here to shit on him, and he definitely gets carried away, but Jesse's definitely not stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's not that crazy. A year ago Punk and Bryan were on fire yet it was still Cena wrestling Johnny Ace in the main event.

    ReplyDelete
  18. No one said he's stupid. He's insane. There's a difference.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ok, new main event:

McMahon Fatal Four Way. Whomever can announce John Cena to the ring the best wins. A surprise last minute entrant, Hornswoggle McMahon tries to join but gets his voice taken away by Xanta Klaus.

  20. I like how Jesse's disagrees with Scott's theory because it means Cena is not the center of attention and then provides a scenario where Cena is involved in a mid card six man tag match.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Reading it, it seems like he views AJ as a little sister. Could be an interesting dynamic.

    ReplyDelete
  22. He might be the only person who can save that company.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Have you ever said anything remotely logical or sensible?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jesse Baker is one to talk about obsessing over something.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I could totally imagine Vince Russo booking Big E having a sex change operation and suing WWE to allow him to compete in the Divas divisin.

  26. Have xkdyfwb exsykf krdh the bomb?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I know we all like to pile on Jesse Baker's... musings... but his whole "Cena is always the centre of attention" thing is kinda true. Taken to an illogical degree, but still true.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think this comments section has done it. Judging by all the up votes, Jesse has crossed the thresh hold from Village Crazy Person to the BoD's Woobie.

    For reference purposes: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheWoobie

  29. You think they could get Balls Mahoney on short notice?

    ReplyDelete
  30. The BOD without Jesse is like a man without an... appendix? Tonsils? Wisdom teeth?

Whatever, the point is that you kind of miss those things.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Appendix or tonsils. You... don't want to keep your wisdom teeth.

    ReplyDelete
  32. If he can find someone to cover for him at Wal*Mart I'll bet they can.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Did I miss something about R-Truth? Feel like I'm playing WWE 13, Santino and Ryder main eventing Superstars against the Rock and Lesnar

    ReplyDelete
  34. What I would have liked to see (recent Smackdown news notwithstanding...)

As his Summerslam opponent, Cena picks... Randy Orton. Orton beats Cena at Summerslam, becoming the first champ to simultaneously hold the MitB briefcase.

At the next PPV, we get the required rematch. Cena wins, but Orton *destroys* him post-match and immediately cashes in his briefcase to get the title back.

Orton gets established as a mega-heel, Cena gets taken off TV for a few weeks to sell an injury and other faces (Bryan, Punk, Jericho, etc.) get to chase the belt for a while.

  35. "This isn't one of the hundred craziest things he's said. "

This is the definition of damning with faint praise.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, but his WWE Championship match with ADR at Night of Champions played second fiddle to Punk/HHH.

    ReplyDelete
  37. And the fact that you got the interview didn't have anything to do with anything you wrote, but rather the fact that you wrote it in crayon.
