Not bad. We get the Iron Man match. However, why give us that terrible LMS match with Shawn from the Rumble, but not the fantastic one with Jericho? I'd also like to see the 4 way between Cena, JBL, and Orton from Backlash 2008, I believe. Also, vs Hardy from No Mercy 2009. That was a great match. Either way, I'm really looking forward to the documentary.

OH FREAKEN SWEET!!! Out of all the guys I have really liked over the years Triple H is the only guy that I don't have a DVD set of. Don't get me wrong I have tons of his matches and all his best ones but never a set that's just him. So I am in a happy place right now, (one minor quibble. I wish we could have gotten HHH vs Foley from the Rumble, HHH vs Austin from NWO 01 and HHH vs Jericho Last man standing in 00 on the set. I have those matches but they are on VHS. Still the Iron match and an updated documentary more then make up for it)
ReplyDeleteThey needed more Terra Ryzing matches!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I was always annoyed that the Hogan DVD's didn't feature any Sterling Golden matches :)
ReplyDeleteProbably going to buy this because they put the Iron Man match on the set.
ReplyDeleteHHH vs Foley is on Foley's first DVD set, which is fantastic. HHH vs Austin is on The Legacy of Stone Cold set, and there's no DVD release of the Jericho one.
ReplyDeleteDon't you have Triple H: King of Kings? Pretty decent set.
Nah. I have seen the match listing for King of Kings. Was never really feeling it.
ReplyDeleteDo any of the sets already have the HHH or HBK sets have their match from Raw in late 2003? That match was 1000% better than their Rumble or Bad Blood matches.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks.
ReplyDeleteYeah. HBK Heartbreak and Triumph DVD
ReplyDeleteI guess Triple H can't have enough DVD's of WWE employees sucking up and telling us what an amazing wrestler he is.
ReplyDeleteNo Disqualification Match
ReplyDeleteTriple H vs. Kurt Angle
Unforgiven – 24th September, 2000
Nice to know that the world can see the exact moment the WWF/E started to go downhill. Ridiculously bad booking which showed that performer's egos and insecurities now took precedence over giving fans good stories. A theme that has continued to this day.
He's had a small one-disc release back in 2002, a two-disc release in 2007 and this. Rock, Austin, and Foley have had as many -- if not more -- releases. I'll all for jumping on the "HHH is an egomaniac" bandwagon but this itsn't one of those times.
ReplyDeletePretty sure that's why everyone is going to buy it.
ReplyDeleteInstead of putting on the HHH/Michaels match from 04, they should have rolled with their Raw match from '96 when HHH was still a midcarder suck-up to the Clique and Michaels was pilled out of his gord but still carrying everone on 2 legs to **** matches. They want you to belive HHH/Michaels was this classic wrestling feud but outside of Shawn's comeback match in 02 and the World title match on Raw at the end of 03 their matches are kinda sucky.
ReplyDeleteHey, don't knock the LMS with Shawn Michaels, you can see me after they go outside the ring, in a wet leather jacket, from when his water bottle flew past me.
ReplyDeleteUghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the matches overall are not good but I'm a damn fool and gotta buy the set to get the iron man match on dvd.
ReplyDeleteI'm legit shocked, SHOCKED, that they don't have either Taker match from Mania on there, with every wrestler giving verbal blowjobs about how it was the greatest match of all time.
ReplyDeleteYou could make a DVD based on all his squashes! Think about it:
ReplyDeleteBooker T at WM
Jeff Hardy in 2001
Eugene at SS
MVP
Anything against Chris Jericho
OK, I'll stop being snarky about it.
I'm probably the only person in the universe who hasn't seen the Iron Man match - guess I need to brush up before they take it off YT/DM
At least we don't have to waste money on the blu-ray this time. The only extra is the WrestleMania match -- which you already have if you bought WrestleManai 29.
ReplyDeleteWith the release of the Iron Man match, what great matches from WWF/WCW has the WWE failed to release on DVD that you've wanted. Chris Benoit matches don't count (cause that is just not going to happen). For me, someone already said HHH/Jericho Last Man Standing, and I'd also like the Garvin/Flair cage match in full from Starrcade 87, Demolition/Brainbusters 2/3 falls match from SNME, the Sting/Vader strap match, Cactus Jack/Vader death match.
The Rock/HHH Iron Man match is definitely filling a void in my heart though.
Also, to have some fun, FANTASY DVD BOOKING:

New Blood
HHH vs Jeff Hardy, No Mercy, October 2008
Reunion Tour
HHH and HBK vs Legacy, Summerslam, August 2009
Those matches are already on TWO other compilation DVDs, for matches that are only three years old that's getting kinda ridiculous. Also I'm pretty sure he doesn't do the J-O-B in any of those matches; that was probably a condition on their inclusion.
ReplyDeleteonly the amount of Foley dvds is really an argument, though. because Rock and Austin might be the most popular workers ever (besides the other two or three usual suspects).
ReplyDeleteFlair, Hogan, Michaels and Bret Hart have also had three. I'm just saying it's not like every year we get a new three disc set with a documentary about how great HHH is.
ReplyDeleteI believe their was a Terra Ryzing (or Jean Paul Levesque) match against Flair at the Disney tapings.
ReplyDeleteIt's on one of Shawn's DVDs.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Demos/BB on the SNME set?
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'd like to see Vader/Dustin Rhodes from WCWSN, and the Steamboat/Rude Iron Man match from 92.
I liked HHH vs Taker at WM X-7 more than 27, but I loved the drama in the 28 match live. By the way, the Iron Man match is with Rock and not Undertaker. You didn't mention that so I don't know if you know that or not. But the Iron Man match kicks some serious ass
ReplyDeleteI see you gave the exact same comment on the video
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know it was Rock (should've made that more clear). Heard even back then it was the best IM match ever (not that there were a lot to compare to, and Bret/Shawn from WM12 was more disappointing than instant classic). Trying to imagine Taker going 60 minutes is comical
ReplyDeleteNo lie: this DVD looks like shit.
ReplyDeleteI love the LMS from the Rumble. One of my faves from those two. The ending is why people crap on it. Fine IMO.
ReplyDeleteStill a pass for me as I can't stomach HHH.
Hasn't there already been a "growing up/getting into the business" documentary featuring Triple H? I guess the talking heads didn't kiss his ass hard enough back then.
ReplyDeleteI don't think HHH ever squashed any of those guys. Except maybe Jeff Hardy in 2002.
ReplyDeleteGo back and look at the Eugene feud. The only awesome thing that came out of it was Steve Regal's promo about being "born naughty".
ReplyDeleteMVP was interesting to me b/c he was on the way up, and he jobs easily to HHH on RAW.
"Squashed" not in the way someone would job to Warrior, but "squashed" as in "their push is squashed since going against HHH".
I actually really enjoyed the Eugene feud for the most part, but your opinion's your opinion.
ReplyDeleteHowever, one thing to note is that the reason most of these guys (except MVP) got pushed in the first place was because they were feuding with HHH. Booker was quite over as Goldust's tag team partner but he wasn't getting strongly pushed until he won that Battle Royal to face Trips. Jeff Hardy's brief "feud" with HHH in 2001 was the entirety of his singles push. Eugene wasn't really ever booked strongly or featured as prominently until the summer '04 feud with Trips. Y2J only got the Undisputed title because Stone Cold and/or Rocky didn't want to lose to HHH again.
Also, Y2J's on-and-off feud with HHH in 2000 was probably the best thing to happen to him that year. He defeated HHH in their infamous "title switch" match (sure, it was made to look like a fluke, but Trips had gone over Rocky, Foley and Stone Cold by that point and Y2J was a newcomer to the company) and took him to the limit in their LMS despite going in with sledgehammer-injured ribs. HHH even collapsed at the tenth count just to sell the beating more.
Also, I don't think anyone really remembers the MVP job (and therefore it didn't really hurt his image), so who cares? People don't remember HHH losing to guys like D-Von Dudley and Test on SD in 2002.
still no love for the Austin/HHH match from No Mercy 1999 (US). Pretty good match, especially considering how messed up Austin's neck was by that point. I'll just stick with my VHS for that one for now, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteMeh. I have the Triple H matches I want, they're on the dvds for wrestlers I like more.
ReplyDeleteActually, my comment on that video was :
ReplyDelete"END OF AN ERA"
...both still wrestle today.
Agreed on hbk/hhh. They had just as many bad matches as good. The hell in a cell at bad blood and the lms at the rumble are snooze fests.
ReplyDeleteSpot on. Still mad about this one 13 years later. Steph and Angle together and HHH going bananas over it for moths after would have been great. Those matches could have been SO good.
ReplyDeleteAustin was active for 15 years, Rock for maybe 11 years. HHH has been active for at least 18.
ReplyDelete...Yeah, not the WWE's best release.
ReplyDeleteTaker going 60 minutes is absolutely hilarious. Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle is the only IM match comparable to Rock vs HHH quality wise. Although the finish to Lesnar/Angle is MUCH more satisfying if you ask me
ReplyDeleteWell you got a top comment on the video
ReplyDeleteWatch Revenge of the Sith and the Order 66 scenes. Replace Anakin and other Empire members with Triple H, replace the Jedi with WCW, and you pretty much have this.
