Sweet match. They actually had me hoping for a schmozzy finish to keep this feud going. These guys need to just trade those belts back and forth and get each other over.
Took it's sweet time getting there, but once it did that match hit all the right spots. The hot crowd certainly helped, really impressed with the Uso's.
I think that Henry vs Cena is going to suck. There's gotta be a reason why Henry hasn't wrestled at all since returning. Maybe he really does retire after this match?
That's why i actually fell for his retirement last month, he really has wanted to retire for a year or so now, so i wont be surprised if he wraps it up this summer for real.
Can't wait to watch, even though I had all the results inadvertently spoiled on reddit by some assholes who copy-pasted the spoilers from the thread of that likely-employee who always posts the results before each show.
"Hey, Monsoon. Whatever happened to those fancy cars Del Rio used to drive out here?" "I don't know, Brain. Maybe he lost all of them to his four ex-wives!" "THAT IS NOT FAIR TO FLAIR!"
If they allow these guys to cut loose for 20 minutes without any major restrictions on what they can do (So they don't steal the show) this match could be great! Either way MITB is a guaranteed *** snowflakes match isn't it?
Ugh, I really wish John Cena had just taken the fall last year instead of getting the DQ win. Because it's really a mouthful for Cole to say that only once has someone cashed in for a world title and not successfully won it, or whatever needlessly complicated phrase he uses to explain the odds.
It used to be that you'd build a guy up, and he'd ride the momentum to the Royal Rumble, and then he'd go on to WM and there would actually be a STORY.
I can't remember the last time a guy won his first world title after a long build, preferably at WM or some other PPV. I think Mark Henry maybe?
Either way, we're essentially getting the end of the story without ever getting the build up. It's why guys fail after cashing in. Watching a guy use a Free World Championship coupon isn't as compelling as watching him work to get there.
It was great for Edge, but it's a diminishing effect with every other opportunist cash-in. When's the last time we had a Bret/Shawn-style rise from the midcard ranks to finally win the big one? Jeff Hardy in 2008?
It was, but it was odd to see a heel basically do what faces did previously by persevering through the tag and midcard belt ranks. Heck, his intro video at Mania 27 was practically built for a face.
I know logic and wrestling don't mix, but how hard would it be to have matches be no DQ, except for in the event of outside interference? That seems to make the most sense to me.
Dammit, that reddit guy is legit! Anyway...awesome match, I'm glad they are giving Sandow (and hopefully Cody) the push. I've always thought the best mitb matches aren't the ones with the best spots, but the ones with the best stories and this one told some great stories...with the ambrose and the shield and Cody damn near stealing the show only to have Sandow sneak a win off him.
Sandow is perfect for this MITB winner spot. He can legitmately win the WHC and as a heel he'll have crowds coast to coast hating him for his weasly future win.
I really, really can't see Sandow cashing in successfully. And they're really playing up the whole "It's guaranteed! Sandow is the next world champion!" So I could easily see him failing, and I really think that might be the better path. He'd be an awesome IC champion, but I'm not sure he's at WHC level yet, although that's never stopped them from anointing a guy anyway. And hey, it's only the WHC.
I think I'd go with a solid 4 snowflakes for that one, great stuff from ALL participants (except sandow...but that was the point) some innovative spots, and great storytelling.
Finally :P
ReplyDeleteSo commercials for the PPV during the pre-show match, isn't the pre-show match the commercial for the PPV already?
ReplyDelete"Mankind's doing really good out there." just doing live commentary
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was lame
ReplyDeleteSuper hot crowd!
ReplyDeleteGood match, better crowd
ReplyDeleteCrowd's got into the Uso's. Tag wrestling formula, you can't fuck it up.
ReplyDeleteIt's Philly and the show is stacked with ROH talent and RVD, going to be very hot all night.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. It's a good Philly crowd tonight
ReplyDeleteBest pre show match by far. I love that Superman punch.
ReplyDeletePoor Seth, have to carry the guy across the ring while being the smallest guy there. Sweet match. Should've been on the main card
ReplyDeleteIf they chant "This is Awesome" for the pre-show tag title match, what are they going to chant during the Money in the Bank All-Stars match?
ReplyDeleteSweet match. They actually had me hoping for a schmozzy finish to keep this feud going. These guys need to just trade those belts back and forth and get each other over.
ReplyDeleteTook it's sweet time getting there, but once it did that match hit all the right spots. The hot crowd certainly helped, really impressed with the Uso's.
ReplyDeleteKofi will make a good commentator someday, IMO
ReplyDeletewhy isn't big show in the mitb all-stars match?
ReplyDeletei thought big show did a good job last time.
ReplyDeleteI like the Uso's. I wish they also let the Primetime Players get some wins
ReplyDeletewhy is vicki there? I thought she was fired.
ReplyDeleteI think that Henry vs Cena is going to suck. There's gotta be a reason why Henry hasn't wrestled at all since returning. Maybe he really does retire after this match?
ReplyDeleteI fully expect him to be.
ReplyDeleteShe was fired as General Manager. Doesn't mean that she can't do something else.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe Big Show just got her in. He does have an Ironclad Contract...
I like how the preshow isn't kayfab. When heels are doing it, they just kinda chill and act normal.
ReplyDeleteShow's great in this role.
ReplyDeleteWhy should he be?
ReplyDeleteBig Show and Kofi are great in this role
ReplyDeleteThat's why i actually fell for his retirement last month, he really has wanted to retire for a year or so now, so i wont be surprised if he wraps it up this summer for real.
ReplyDeleteBecause he's a former champion. It's not the "Money in the Bank All-Stars" match, it's the "All Star Money in the Bank" match.
ReplyDeleteBanged up/taking time off.
ReplyDeleteAll of these promos actually have me excited to see RVD... wwe brainwashing at its finest
ReplyDeleteUltimate Warrior's taking Kane's spot tonight!
ReplyDeleteSomeone forgot to tell Vickie it's not kayfab.
ReplyDeleteThey probably shouldn't be too good in that role or else they'll never escape it.
ReplyDeleteOh god the Smackdown MITB crew wont even get a PPV entrance!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to watch, even though I had all the results inadvertently spoiled on reddit by some assholes who copy-pasted the spoilers from the thread of that likely-employee who always posts the results before each show.
ReplyDeleteAnd here we go again
ReplyDeleteHe's legit injured atm.
ReplyDeleteLink? I'm curious to see this reddit.
ReplyDeleteCM Punk?
ReplyDeleteTHE WAYYY OF THE WARRIAHHH WILLLL PREVAILLL!
ReplyDeleteIt's the MITB Afterthoughts match!
ReplyDeleteROB VAN DAM
ReplyDeleteThe match itself isn't even gonna be aired. We'll see highlights during the entrances of the AJ vs Kaitlyn match.
ReplyDeleteIf he's that over, why didn't he carry TNA to new heights?
ReplyDeleteI just read them. This live thread should be fun if that dude is legit.
ReplyDeleteNeither has Kurt Angle. Doesn't he isn't badass.
ReplyDeleteUnleash the jobbers!
ReplyDeleteI'm just surprised I got the WHC MITB correct. I NEVER predict the right outcome in multi-man matches.
ReplyDeleteDEAN AMBROSE DOESN'T EVEN GET AN ENTRANCE FUCK OFF
ReplyDeleteI hope he isn't because that would just about ruin this whole damn thing for me.
ReplyDeleteUnleash the robotic 911.
ReplyDeleteJobber time!
ReplyDeleteCesaro being a proud American might make sense if he was still the US Champion.
ReplyDeleteZeb needed the time for his monologue.
ReplyDeleteI could totally do without Zeb's monologues during ring entrances.
ReplyDeleteBoo boring American Stuff
ReplyDeleteI thought it would be his significant other, but I figured one of them would win. They've been getting the most airtime recently.
ReplyDeleteNever been an RVD fan, but having just been reminded that the show takes place in Philly, at the very least I am looking forward to his entrance.
ReplyDeleteCesaro probably goes over here huh? Can someone post the results and a star rating for the tag match. I missed it
ReplyDeleteUS flag with a taco on it WOULD be pretty bad ass.
ReplyDeleteLOL, that was so bad it's funny.
ReplyDeleteThe US Champ starts in the ring but Zeb gets a promo? Ugh.
ReplyDelete"Hey, Monsoon. Whatever happened to those fancy cars Del Rio used to drive out here?"
ReplyDelete"I don't know, Brain. Maybe he lost all of them to his four ex-wives!"
"THAT IS NOT FAIR TO FLAIR!"
Shield won, ***
ReplyDeleteIf they allow these guys to cut loose for 20 minutes without any major restrictions on what they can do (So they don't steal the show) this match could be great! Either way MITB is a guaranteed *** snowflakes match isn't it?
ReplyDeleteShield over Usos via Rollins powerbomb to the turnbuckle and Reigns spear combo. 2.75-3 stars (more stars if they'd been given more time)
ReplyDeleteLesson: never give heels a catchphrase if you don't expect fans to chant along with it.
ReplyDeleteSo is The Miz. So is Rey Mysterio.
ReplyDeleteIs it awful for me to ask for the link also when I just ordered this thing?
ReplyDeleteLol Sandow is the best
ReplyDeleteSlack jawed!!! If only he cribbed the entire line off Jesse from Predator.
ReplyDeletewith all these heel promos, they are making the fans not care about the match
ReplyDeleteSilver lining - US champion was not on preshow
ReplyDeleteIt has Cesaro, Ambrose, Cody, and Sandow in it. It's gonna be good.
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm a Philadelphia guy...you don't mess with Rocky Balboa!
ReplyDeletePrediction: we break 2000 comments tonight.
ReplyDeleteI honestly have no idea when Barrett is coming out anymore with the 10 different theme songs he has had in two years
ReplyDeleteJesus, how many entrance themes does one man need?
ReplyDeleteIt's like he's stockpiling them for the apocalypse.
This one sucks as well.
ReplyDeleteWith a third of those during the all-star ladder match
ReplyDeletePrediction : only about 200 of those comments will be coming from people who bought the PPV tonight
ReplyDeleteI will say I am legally watching the show having ordered the internet stream this evening
ReplyDeleteWe the People chant... a bunch Claudio carryovers, good deal
ReplyDeletehttp://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/1iay46/spoilers_mitb_results_inside_this_thread_100/
ReplyDeleteBeware, I looked at his Payback thread and he called ADR winning and the twist, so dude is probably legit.
Link for those of us who don't mind being spoiled?
ReplyDeleteWell it's the only chant anyone in the match has, and yea Claudio is big in Philly thanks to ROH and Chikara
ReplyDeleteThis crowd is great.
ReplyDeleteIts easy to forget how big Swagger is, cause he doesn't really wrestle like a big guy.
ReplyDeleteWWE may not be very good at getting people over, but they've always been good at stealing people's heat for other people.
ReplyDeleteIt's below in my response to Jason Jeffrey Ball.
ReplyDeleteWade couldn't have positioned that ladder in a faker way if he tried!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are freaking me out. If it's fucking Orton...
ReplyDeletehe's actually pretty decent in the ring, his Ecw days he actually had future ya know.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I'M a former world champion, with how they've prostituted the titles in recent years.
ReplyDeleteReally should of made him a Paul Heyman guy when he first came up, he would of been big then. Good in the ring, just his promos kill everything.\
ReplyDeleteUgh, I really wish John Cena had just taken the fall last year instead of getting the DQ win. Because it's really a mouthful for Cole to say that only once has someone cashed in for a world title and not successfully won it, or whatever needlessly complicated phrase he uses to explain the odds.
ReplyDeleteThey shoulda left this match for the pre-show, you guys.
ReplyDeletethat's why he really needs a good manager.
ReplyDelete7 guys won their first world title by cashing in their Money In The Bank contract? Damn that's way too many!
ReplyDeleteSome sweet stuff from Cesaro and Swagger
ReplyDeleteDaniel Bryan!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLADDAH MUSCLE BUSTAH!
ReplyDeletePhew. I thought Rhodes was going to injure him there
ReplyDeleteMuscle buster! Excellent.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Hogan returns tonight too.
ReplyDeleteMan, Cody and Cesaro must have no desire to walk in the future.
ReplyDeleteThat looked painful.
ReplyDeleteHaHa anyone catch that Bella twins tweet?
ReplyDeleteGotta say I'm liking this right now much more than I expected.
ReplyDeleteHa, Cole sneaking in a note to JBL... "Yeah we do SmackDown on Tuesdays... but we tell people it's Friday."
ReplyDeleteYou all gonna kill me but,I think the MITB has become a generic match.
ReplyDeleteWhat was it?
ReplyDelete10!
ReplyDeleteThat was a sick DDT!
ReplyDeleteyes!
ReplyDeleteSummer Rae is really beautiful!
ReplyDeletePure gibberish! Literally hfjkgifgwegffgfy8isahkfjgygugfiaf before they cut it off.
ReplyDeleteWhat was JRs quote about bumps like that? "Learn how to fall, my ass" or something like that?
ReplyDeleteSure...but it's entertaining nontheless.
ReplyDeleteThat's my biggest problem with MITB.
ReplyDeleteIt used to be that you'd build a guy up, and he'd ride the momentum to the Royal Rumble, and then he'd go on to WM and there would actually be a STORY.
Fandango has the hottest valet
ReplyDeleteMight be too late by now, his quick title win and then quick drop to nothingness have damaged him.
ReplyDeleteFormulaic? maybe. Generic? No. I'll watch an episode of Law & Order or House no matter how formulaic it is... because the formula is great
ReplyDeletenot that I hate but the charm of the old ones is gone
ReplyDeleteMacho Man had the hottest valet. Always.
ReplyDeleteTERRY FUNK SPOT FROM THE NEW TERRY FUNK!
ReplyDeleteVintage Terry Funk!
ReplyDeletehaha they did the old ecw spot
ReplyDeletealright I think this is the better word"formulaic"
ReplyDeleteFUNK!
ReplyDeleteCole: "Talk about innovation" for a spot Terry Funk did 15 years ago.
ReplyDeleteIt was from her butt.
ReplyDeleteokay ambrose put a pretty fucking cool twist on that
ReplyDeleteHoly Shit To obad he didn't quite pull it off, but the moment when Dean's head was stuck in the ladder and being lifted was incredible!
ReplyDeleteThat's a given when you do the same thing every year. they should have never gone over 6 people per match.
ReplyDeleteIt was great for Edge, but it's a diminishing effect with every other opportunist cash-in. When's the last time we had a Bret/Shawn-style rise from the midcard ranks to finally win the big one? Jeff Hardy in 2008?
ReplyDeleteMiz's title win with MITB was actually built pretty well.
ReplyDeleteNice spot.
ReplyDeleteWhat is Booker T DOING that Teddy Long needs to keep filling in for him all the time?
ReplyDeletethat's pretty much what i think
ReplyDeletelisten to the universe...king is the worst
ReplyDeletetoo awesome to end... I'm hoping for another 10 minutes
ReplyDeleteSomeone get Sin Cara's trampoline!
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, I would imagine he'd rather call them "fans." It's all Vince trying to copyright fandom.
ReplyDeleteHe's comin'' for YOU N*GGA!
ReplyDeleteDon't say the WORD!.
ReplyDeleteIt was, but it was odd to see a heel basically do what faces did previously by persevering through the tag and midcard belt ranks. Heck, his intro video at Mania 27 was practically built for a face.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't Summer Rae just get the briefcase for him when everyone was down? They are all heels, sportsmanship shouldn't matter
ReplyDeleteI missed the first 15 mins, but this match looks AWESOME so far!!
ReplyDeleteWhoa, Cody busted hardway.
ReplyDeleteThis has been awesome.
ReplyDeleteYeah sandow is definitely winning this....he hasn't done a thing in this match, hence WWE logic is...he must win!
ReplyDeleteJey Uso: WHC Champion?
ReplyDeleteThis is a great match. MITB is becoming a must see ppv like the royal rumble.
ReplyDeleteI really want Rhodes to pull this off.
ReplyDeleteWorld Heavyweight Champion Champion?
ReplyDelete"the son of a son of a plumber"
ReplyDelete3.5/5 thus far on my book.
ReplyDeleteSandow screwing over Cody is kinda awesome..
ReplyDeleteI know logic and wrestling don't mix, but how hard would it be to have matches be no DQ, except for in the event of outside interference? That seems to make the most sense to me.
ReplyDeleteWorld Heavyweight Champion Champion of the World.
ReplyDeleteYES. That was awesome! lol
ReplyDeleteShit, this match is great.
ReplyDeleteSANDOW PUSH?!?
ReplyDeleteAwesome.
ReplyDeleteYES!
ReplyDeleteI did NOT see that coming. But Sandow? Fucking awesome.
ReplyDeleteThat's it, I'm outta here...
ReplyDeleteDude on reddit got it right. Fuck.
ReplyDeleteWe all mocked them for the "theme" PPVs, but at least one stuck, and stuck hard.
ReplyDeleteYou're Welcome!!
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome although the building might have exploded if Cody won.
ReplyDeleteWith the blood on his face and the hope spots, plus the molten-hot crowd for Cody, that was just the PERFECT way to end the match.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking as a Sandow fan... I don't like him winning.
ReplyDeleteGRADE: 3.75/5,anyone agrees?
ReplyDeleteMORE SANDOW PROMOS.
ReplyDeleteAwesome match...I hope that match just MADE Rhodes.
ReplyDeleteI for one can't wait to see the Philly crowd's reaction to the other MITB match!
ReplyDeleteTHE RHODES SCHOLARS EXPLODE AT SUMMERSLAM!
ReplyDeleteRhodes-Sandow feud... I'm with that!!
ReplyDeleteDammit, that reddit guy is legit!
ReplyDeleteAt least I had the Cody Rhodes babyface turn right. Thought he'd win it though and Sandow would turn on him afterwards. I like it better this way.
ReplyDeleteOn the preshow!
ReplyDeleteStreet fight match, how about this way.
ReplyDeleteWhy was zeb just standing there? Come on, a manager is supposed to help their person cheat
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised it wasn't Fatal Fourway
ReplyDeleteGuy on reddit "predicts" all of these matches with 100% accuracy.
ReplyDeleteWho would have thought that a match made up exclusively with villains would feature an act of betrayal?
ReplyDeleteSandow is perfect for this MITB winner spot. He can legitmately win the WHC and as a heel he'll have crowds coast to coast hating him for his weasly future win.
ReplyDeleteOnly reason I'm still watching is to see them shit all over it.
ReplyDeleteSANDOW!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, that's where the money was on this match. Still waiting for whoever's leaking/using the results to get swereved.
ReplyDeleteThis was like Cody's coming out party.
ReplyDeleteNot only that, they just turned Cody face. Great match, ****1/4, IMO
ReplyDeleteI really, really can't see Sandow cashing in successfully.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Vince has won the internal power struggle for now.
ReplyDeleteWow, a bit of strong booking totally got Rhodes over right there. Could not have predicted Sandow taking it there, interesting booking.
ReplyDeleteWWE did a really good job making that match all about him.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd go with a solid 4 snowflakes for that one, great stuff from ALL participants (except sandow...but that was the point) some innovative spots, and great storytelling.
ReplyDeletePlus, let's face it... that big gold belt has been missing a robe for a LONG time.
ReplyDelete
