Total Divas Is A...Hit?

1.3 million people is more along the lines of an Impact rating, but I guess that's good for E?  E the network, not 'E the wrestling promotion.  And not the WWE Network, just the plain E network.  You know what I mean.

Anyway, good for the Bellas?  I guess?

  2. Not bad, and if you figure they'll play it ad nasuem like they do every other show: Marathons, sneak peeks, weekends, late night, etc, probably looks to be a good idea for all involved. May even get some ladies interested in the Biz.

Paul: "Do you like Pro Wrestling?"
    Girl: "I love total divas!"
Paul: "Well back when I wrestled they called me the Total Package!"
    Girl: "Really?"
Paul: "Yeah! I body slammed a Samoan china-man once!"
    Girl: "Damn you fine!"
Paul: "Well I can show you my 24 inch python later"
    Girl: "You own a snake?!"
    Paul: "You bet I do"

  4. E! Shows do really well with girls looking for guilty pleasure entertainment. In much the same way we'll watching something stupid like say...Wrestling Shoot Interviews, girls will watch KUWTK for the fashion and the insight into the celebrity world, etc etc.

I hate it, but I can understand its appeal.

  5. Bryan/Cena=$$$

Total Divas is just a device to measure the interest in Summerslam :P

  6. I haven't watched it yet but I plan to. I'm a sucker for behind the scenes stuff, and if the girls keep it interesting I'll keep watching.

  9. This should be the biggest evidence yet that the WWE is a machine the likes of which we have never seen in pro wrestling. A show about Divas and lets be honest outside of the Bella's these divas are second, third and fourth string. When a show about the third string of Diva's out draws TNA Impact it furthers the point that John Cena could wrestle Steve Austin on Impact and still draw less than a WWE reality show.

This is why any talk of TNA invading anyone, or TNA competing or even Vince McMahon being aware of TNA outside of pesky, meaningless, peripheral lawsuits is laughable.

  10. The show also leads into the Kardahians, so that will help out the ratings.

  11. Scott, come on, the cable gossip network is called E!, with an ! always.

  12. WWE has a nice niche audience carved out. But its not infallible or impossible to compete with.

  13. Other way around.

  14. Bellas are 2nd rate divas too, when you compare them to ones who actually made a difference in ratings, etc. over the years.

I can't think of any Diva on the current roster that garners any type of reaction from the fans when her music hits.

I'm attributing this rating to all the hype the show received, and maybe a little of people hanging around from watching the Kardashians. I predict less than one million viewers for next week's show.

  15. If its not impossible to compete with his exactly would you compete with it? It has been 12 years since wcw folded the only time Vince even had remote competition was with stars he created and he has since remedied that problem with 50/50 booking.

I'm not sure how you're able to say its not impossible to compete with when all evidence points towards it being in fact impossible to compete with. A show with third string divas is drawing higher in a more niche network than the second largest promotion in the country. As far as facts go that's pretty much clear cut evidence. We can play the what if game but as the wrestling landscape stands today they are very much in fact impossible to compete with.

  16. AJ gets more of a reaction than Ziggler does.

She's also smart enough to avoid this show.

  17. I guess I see WCW and TNA being run so horribly (from the outside at least) and can't help but imagine there's some room for improvement if different people were in charge of the second best roster. I could be wrong, but at the same time, many very smart people thought Nitro was also doomed to failure. I'll admit, though, that for the time being the available data certainly point in your direction.

  18. Not sure if it's already been stated, but even the XFL had great numbers for its first week. Whether or not these numbers last is what they have to worry about.

  19. AJ Lee usually gets a pretty big reaction.

  20. I watched it on e! on demand. Its the usual "reality" show bullshit (fake, lying, set up) but its behind the scenes footage is more interesting to watch than the current wwe storyline product. It can be confusing when real names are used but its still entertaining enough. Cena actually comes off like a real person for once, Nikki Bella is kind of a shallow bitch, cameran is still as clueless as during tough enough and Natalie is too sweet for the business. So far naomi, brie, Bryan, and jimmy (john) uso are the most normal.

  21. My takeaway?
Apparently there is a television channel called E.
