After looking at his arm after he went through the ladder, there was no doubt he hurt it. Although I didn't think it'd be this serious. Well, I guess we know at least one guy who's going to return in the Rumble match.
ReplyDeleteI hate it for Sheamus, but on the bright side, it gives him some time off the road to relax and live a regular life for a little while, and perhaps it gives them an opportunity to freshen up his character.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Vince Russo didn't come up with 1-800-FELLA. Shit would have gotten weird.
ReplyDeleteWWE said 4 to 6 weeks, not 4 to 6 months
ReplyDeleteNo they said 4 to 6 months.
ReplyDeleteAnd damn that MSG set looks great.
ReplyDeletethey should have included that boom drop that kofi did on orton from the stands
ReplyDeleteyou know, the one that totally made kofi and put him way over... right before wwe forgot about him

ReplyDeleteI've seen most of those matches on the set so I'll pass. I'm definitely getting the Mid-South set though, and maybe ECW Unreleased volume 2.
ReplyDeleteObviously that's bad news for Sheamus personally, but not necessarily professionally. He a damn good brawler but his character is irritating in the extreme.
ReplyDeleteOn facebook they said 4 to 6 weeks but they just changed it. Come on Joey Styles, or whomever runs their page
ReplyDeleteWith a slightly fresher character if they're smart.
ReplyDeleteI'd never wish ill on anyone, but I'm pretty excited to not see Sheamus on TV for four to six months. He's probably my least favorite guy to watch on the show. Nothing against his work, but I can't stand the character.
ReplyDeleteTHREADJACK *SMACKDOWN SPOLER* What the hell is up with Christian beating ADR in a one-on-one non title match like a week before they wrestle for the title at Summerslam? What kind of dumbass booking is that? Surely they're going to change the match now?
ReplyDeleteI point you to the logic of all WWE booking
ReplyDeleteBECAUSE FUCK YOU THAT'S WHY!!!
I guess they just wanted to tease a Sandow cash-in. It apparently was a competitive match that lasted nearly 20 minutes and the end was a surprise roll-up so it sounds like Del Rio didn't look bad or anything. His recent losses have been used to actually ADVANCE STORIES which is all I ask.
ReplyDeleteIt's the fact that they're having a one-on-one match at all. Their wrestling one on one for the title at Summerslam, what is the sense in having them have that match on TV one week beforehand? Mindboggling
ReplyDeleteSummerslam is already sold with Cena/Bryan and Punk/Lesnar. Everything else is just filling out the card.
ReplyDeleteI'm buying the show as well and I agree with all of your points. Ultimately, it's just a head scratching and lazy move on creatives part, but nothing else.
ReplyDeleteYeah it is pretty lazy but honestly I can't complain too much about a great 20 minute free TV match even with an outcome I don't like. I would have preferred it ended in a DQ or count out myself.
ReplyDeleteDone for the year, poor fella. HOW DO YOU LEARN TO FALL OFF A TWENTY FOOT LADDER?!
ReplyDeleteI would have liked to have seen less TV/PPV matches and more stuff that was only broadcast on MSG. They skipped over a lot of great stuff that hasn't been seen by a lot of people, I think, in favor of stuff people know about.
ReplyDeleteSheamus returns in the Rumble and eliminates the Ladder that injured him, setting up a program for Wrestlemania.
ReplyDeleteI dunno, the outcome matters. It's like a eating a delicious chocolate cake, but it leaves a lingering shit after taste.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but in this case it doesn't make me want to see Del Rio/Christian at Summerslam any less. However I'm assuming that Rio now retains at the PPV and goes on to feud with Ricardo for the WHT, which would make me a very happy man. Even happier if Ricardo uses his El Local persona.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking they might insert RVD into this match somehow, or Ricardo even. Would make sense as RVD pinned ADR this week also.
ReplyDeleteIt's typical WWE lazy booking. Hard to believe, I know, but wrestling companies used to build up challengers to the World title by having them look strong and win matches against EVERYBODY ELSE. They didn't send their World champions out to job over and over again on free TV. That's now 3 losses for Del Rio in the last month (2 to Christian, one to Van Dam). Hell, go back to a Top 10 ranking system if you must, but for God's sake, stop taking every wrestler with a belt around his waist and making them take clean losses on television.
ReplyDeleteso i was thinkin', since wade barrett got half of his beard shaved, are we gonna get a promo where he talks about how he's a man, not a fish?
ReplyDeleteLOL. Trainers, EMTs, referees down......
ReplyDeleteIn their mind, maybe having Del Rio vs Christian before the PPV is a way to generate even more interest in SummerSlam. If those two go out there and tear it up for 20 minutes on Smackdown, the assumption is that the SummerSlam match will be even better, so you'd better buy the show or else you'll miss a classic.
ReplyDeleteSheamus will come back in time to beat Sandow for the World Heavyweight title shortly after Sandow cashes in on RVD, who will have beaten Del Rio for the title. Because, you know, beating Damian Sandow is what Sheamus does best.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even notice Sheamus was gone
ReplyDeleteI've had surgery FIVE times in my LEFT knee.
ReplyDeleteHe's the world champion and he LOST. He looks bad.
ReplyDeleteReally fun oral history of Ribera Steakhouse in Japan. I had no idea how small the place was. Also, maybe the only chance to ever see Colt Cabana and Stan Hansen interviewed for the same WWE piece.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wwe.com/classics/inside-ribera-steakhouse-26137247
Love that quote. I wasn't too impressed by the 5 surgeries until I found out that they all took place in the LEFT knee. Then I was like, whoa, no way I'm going to try this at home.
ReplyDeleteSheamus had some funny tweets following up on his injury. Stuff like "Don't cry for me, it's not me drinking arm."
ReplyDeleteExhibit #1189 how wrestlers are just as clever as the writers and shouldn't have to memorize scripts hours before the show.
I ruptured a disc that fragmented into my spinal column...
ReplyDeleteThey're not.
ReplyDeleteSheamus vs The Ladder
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is a money idea
It's doesn't make me want to see it any less either...
ReplyDelete...because I can't want to see something a negative amount.
There's way too much on there that's been made available on other sets. I mean to we need another set with Bret/Perfect and the Shawn/Razor ladder match? When I think "MSG set" I want to see house show main events from the 70s and 80s.
ReplyDeleteThat's the hand I open beer with!
ReplyDeleteI was literally days away from trying it at home. That promo probably saved my life.
ReplyDeleteYou really don't want to see a good match? Not trying to be snarky, just curious.
ReplyDeleteThey probably just threw them together for Smackdown and didn't realize they were also booked for Summerslam.
ReplyDeleteWell, I was trying to be snarky.
ReplyDeleteBut on a show where Punk/Brock and Bryan/Cena are going to be getting 20-30 minutes, how much time are they going to give Christian & Del Rio?
I love watching those MSG broadcasts when I track them down - they have a real old school house show feel to them. Well, I guess that's exactly what they are, but still...brings back memories.
ReplyDeleteKofi's the modern day Kidman - he's over, he's on the verge, he has a lot of momentum, and, fuck it, never mind, just keep doing what you're doing.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I'd like to see him with more of a MMA character - he can keep the tights and the hair, but give him the gloves, a last name and stop with the stupid smiling.
ReplyDeleteThat's it; if Christian can beat him in a non-title match, then he can beat him for the title match.
ReplyDelete
