A+ Match of the Day

Early start today, lots of holiday stuff to do...who would have thunk Paul Roma would be such a controversial point of discussion. Almost made me want to look up a Power & Glory match. Maybe next week.

For the weekend you guys get a Royal Rumble. We've done 1990 and 1994 so far but not we'll skip ahead a few years and go to the 2003 edition. Enjoy the weekend!

    Hennig's performance here brought a smile to my face and watching it live was a true mark out moment. It's sad now knowing how terrible things ended up turning out for him, spurred partially by this failed comeback.

    Well that botched double dropkick spot with Edge and Mysterio probably put Nowinski out of commission and into a new line of work. That was nasty.

    Things I remember most about this Rumble:

    1) Jericho's show-stealing performance, only to get randomly eliminated by Test of all people (no disrespect to the dead, but we all know he wasn't over).

    2) Matt and Shannon's interactions were hilarious, and maybe the highlight of the whole match.

    3) Batista looking greener than a garden, especially considering who he was included with in the Final 4.

    I just remember how awesome the first half or so was, basically with all the "little guys" and then it ground to a halt when the lugs took over.


    My favorite match on this show was the opener with Big Show & Lesnar for a spot in the Rumble. It was a cool little gimmick match I'm surprised they haven't gone back to and the Boston crowd was HOT for Brock.

    Oh yeah, he was uber popular at this time, and it was before he became "smilin' Brock" after winning the title at Mania. The character still had some edge to him, and it was definitely right for him to go over.

    But for favorite match... I'm guessing that you didn't choose Angle/Benoit for obvious reasons?
