I was thinking about plugging this one in yesterday but you guys were going to have a full plate watching a shitty RAW or a blowout in the football game so I figured I would save it for today.
This is one of my all-time favorite matches up until the lack of a finish. I understand the lack of a finish because they needed to protect Warrior. Of course there is also the big rumor that Warrior was supposed to turn heel here and take the strap but flaked out at the end and left us with the non-finish we got.
So here it is, a match I gave ****1/2 on review and liked more than their Wrestlemania VII encounter from the terms of the in-ring action (nothing will ever beat the WM storyline and payoff). For the WWF Title, Randy Savage vs. The Ultimate Warrior at Summerslam 1992 in London, England!

And the Ultimate Warrior heel rumor? Was the plan for him to leave Summerslam with the title and align himself with Flair and Perfect? I'm curious at how they planned to pull this off.
ReplyDeleteThe crowd heat at the beginning of this match is amazing.
Savage would have been excellent at putting matches together for others after he retired.
ReplyDeleteRIP.
I'm gonna need some food specifics here...its awesome on burgers. Is that what you had? Something else? I'm intrigued by the fried eggs on top of something combinations.
ReplyDeleteI had the same thought; that and training others. And, Hellwig clearly benefited from having guys prearranging matches. There is plenty to be said for guys who can get together and improvise a high quality match at a moment's notice, but when that's not realistic, doing whatever is necessary to put out a quality product is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteMeh...who really knows? I doubt we'll ever really know.
ReplyDeleteBut, thanks for sharing this match. I had forgotten how good it was.
I will acknowledge that my sample size with Sin Cara is relatively small, but ring work aside, when has he displayed any charisma?
ReplyDeleteI had a Bacon and Egg Burger at logan's Roadhouse last week. And it was awesome. I hadn't done that before. That's when I realized that this might be a thing. So over the last few days, I've had a fried egg on french fries....on a steak....and a homemade grilled chicken sandwich. I may have one foot on the heart attack train, but I really don't care at this point.
ReplyDeleteWhen he first began, he moved around with a certain presence instead of a regular guy. He had an aura about him. Soon after that, he stopped giving a shit.
ReplyDeleteI don't see why planning out matches in detail is frowned upon by some. I'd rather plan out a good match in advance than just wing it and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteAh. Would the lack of shits have been before or after a series of injuries?
ReplyDeleteFuck it. That's what statin is for. I've been good about working out this year so eat alot of eggs... used to do eggs on burgers when I lived in vegas. Loved it, but I could never solve the condiment conundrum on it. Ketchup, mustard, both, mayo, hot sauce?
