Eh? Dave has said many times before that there's probably nothing to the rumours. Punk is just a big fan of Savage, like all right-thinking people are.

yeah, wearing tights that you had made that day as a rush order in tribute to a dead guy is clearly a rib on triple H. EVEN ON THE BLOG, EVERYTHING REVOLVES AROUND HIM.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked that people seem so obsessed with having the crowd start a Randy Savage chant. As dumb as many WWE crowds are, even they know that the story is bullshit.
ReplyDeleteIt will happen... someday.
ReplyDeleteEven if its not true, and I dont think it true, Steph is still aware of the urban legend and the train wreck factor could be great.
ReplyDeleteI'm 99.99% it's not true... I'd really just want to see her reaction to it. If she no-sells it, I'd pop as much as if she actually reacted to it.
ReplyDeleteHBK must be in on the "rib" too
ReplyDeleteWell whenever Punk hits the steel chair flying elbow I call it the "daughter banger" so there's that.
ReplyDeleteSeriously...I miss the Macho Man.
The fans don't care about her enough to even do the SLUT chants anymore.
ReplyDelete95% of the crowd has no idea of the correlation.
ReplyDeleteWell he was dropping the elbow long before the Steph/Macho rumor started, and before it would have even mattered to HHH.
ReplyDeleteNext time Raw is in my area, I'll do my best.
ReplyDeletePretty sure Meltzer said on WOL a few years back that he believes the rumours are true.
ReplyDeleteLanny also eluded to to them being truthful.
And if that was the case, you think Vince would let him drop one on him at Mania? Oh hell no.
ReplyDeleteHere's a clip talking about it, and at least in 2009 Meltzer believed:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hsey9lagnwU
Probably a higher percentage.
ReplyDeleteI lean to the side of it not being true but people act like its implausible. Ive definitely read some Meltzer stuff where he implies he believes the rumor. People act like its such a far fetched rumor...a testosterone feuled male, who is viewed as a big deal, with an underage impressionable girl. This is the world of wrestling, its a more realistic situation then half of the shit that went on in 80s and early 90s
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that one line from Randy Savage's rap album gets blown out of proportion.
ReplyDeleteI think the only reason this rumor hasn't died is because so many former wrestlers, creative writers and even Lanny Poffo himself have never just immediately dismissed it as false. The fact they kept saying there's a minimal possibility that it's true just means the speculation will always continue.
ReplyDeleteI know some fans believe the rumor, and it always creeps me out that they're perfectly okay with the thought of Macho Man being a pedophile and just view it as a source of amusement.
ReplyDeleteWhen CM Punk was on the top rope ready to deliver the elbow drop at SummerSlam and Triple H was the guest Ref, Punk looked over to Triple H and said, "Oliver knows!"
ReplyDeleteTrue, but wrestling is so fucked up, it wouldn't be a bridge too far from the type of people we've already accepted we cheer for. It takes a certain cognitive dissonance to be a wrestling fan if your intellect is anything above "still thinks it's real." It's fucked up, but Savage fucking a 16-year old wouldn't really move that needle too much farther.
ReplyDeleteYou can look at it the other way and say that some people were such macho fanboys that they refuse to believe the rumor because they dont want to think someone they like watching can do something fucked up.
ReplyDeleteanyone here think he'd have the balls to point blank ask vince or stephanie (or even hhh) if given the chance?
ReplyDeletenot this guy
Speaking of Macho Man, have you heard his rap album, funny stuff.
ReplyDeleteIf I ever get a job in WWE, and I decide I'm going to quit, *THAT'S* how I'm getting fired.
ReplyDeletetoo bad scotty doesnt know
ReplyDeleteShe would have been 18 in September of 1994 if my math is right. So I mean, if they banged in October, right before he left, that would have been "legal."
ReplyDeleteHeard a little of his song where he takes shots at Hogan. Definitely funny stuff
ReplyDelete*barely* legal
ReplyDeleteTHAT.... IS EXTREEEEEEEEEEME!!
JOIN THE REVOLUTION
E-C-DUB!!! E-C-DUB!!!
Yeah, and Paul is back with a QOTD
ReplyDeletePunk dressing in the Savage tights/doing his finishing move was more a tribute after he died
ReplyDeleteAnd if it was a subtle diss, remember the pay-off to the whole thing, which was Cena shitting all over Punk's tribute and saying he was ripping off Savage because "he wasn't talented" and had to "pander" to "get people to cheer for him"
That said, there is the alternative theory for why Savage is blackballed: Savage leaving the WWF for WCW after WCW signed Hogan. That story has Savage, about ready to re-sign with the WWF, calling Vince in the middle of the night to tell him he was jumping ship to WCW days before he was supposed to sign his new contract and basically refusing Vince's pleas to at least let him try and match WCW's contract
Here's the thing; it's a such a ridiculous, random rumor to have started that I have to believe it's true because it's TOO RIDICULOUS to be completley made up. Now , maybe it's inaccurate... like he made a pass at her, or she made one at him, but I just think there's SOMETHING to it.
ReplyDeleteAnd secondly, if I ever got Stephanie in bed, I would scream, "OOOOH YEAH!" as I finished.
ReplyDeleteThat has nothing to do with Savage, FYI. That's always how I finish.
Snap into it!
ReplyDeleteIf he didn't drug her, rape her, or do it in front of the boys it's a pretty clean story by wrestling standards.
ReplyDeleteIt's so fucking weird. The fact that there definitely seemed to be a huge rift between Vince and Macho those years and that nobody wants to say why makes me stop and think about it. If it was business related, wouldn't there be confirmed reports of what it was?
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be a wrestling story unless poop was somehow involved...
ReplyDeleteWell, I just read an interview with Randy's brother Lanny, who said that Randy was pitching a program with Shawn Michaels, a two-year deal where he would put Shawn over clean-as-a-sheet at the very end. Basically Randy wanted to see if he could put on another classic like he did with Ricky Steamboat. Vince told Randy no, they were in the middle of a "youth movement" so he cut the deal to go to WCW.
ReplyDeleteRandy could have been a HUGE asset to Vince in 93-94-95. A WrestleMania IX where Savage puts over Bret in a face-v-face match to show usher in the new generation would have been SUCH a better deal. Or Savage & Lex as the new mega-powers would have probably given Lex a better rub as a top babyface than a bus tour.
Yes, this so much. Savage could have been such an asset during those years. Face/face with Bret, face/heel with Shawn, throw in a mid-card program ala Crush and a tag run; could have been great.
ReplyDeleteInterseting. Didn't know he pitched a HBK program. From what I gathered...Vince and Macho were always cool, Vince gave him that nice announcer sendoff on Raw, and then something happened to really spur the relationship. Either something like a really bad business negotiation going on or as the urban legend goes, Vince at some point then found out about Steph.
ReplyDeleteI've heard former writers say on podcasts that they couldn't even bring up Machos name around Vince. For Vince never to consider bringing Macho in to make a few bucks off him at some point just seems really odd to me and makes me stop and think that maybe something deep and personal really did happen between them.
I never understood Vince's insistence in downplaying Savage the way he did. He was WWF Champion at Summerslam 1992, in a main event tag team match at Survivor Series 1992 and almost immediately afterwards he's just an announcer. Razor Ramon costs him the WWF Championship, neither of them have anything going on at Wrestlemania 9, and Savage can't even get that? It's just how strange how quickly Savage was downplayed when he could still go in the ring.
ReplyDeleteSavage/Luger, Savage/Razor...there's no shortage of things they could have done with him.
ReplyDeleteAnd a promised title reign that never came to be.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Savage negotiating to return in 1996 before he re-signed with WCW?
ReplyDeleteWas he? I really dont recall either way. Maybe this negotiation went really shitty and led to the downfall in their relationship
ReplyDeleteSavage Luger and Savage Razor both sound like pulp films.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Savage could have made Luger look like a million dollars back then. And I always imagined a short tag jaunt with Razor in '94 or '95 would have been awesome.
It was rumored and many expected him to be the mystery partner at Survivor Series 1996.
ReplyDeleteBut vince still gave him a decent, sincere send off on raw.
ReplyDeleteI always thought that she was 14 according to the rumor, but I might be mixing Savage/Steph up with Raven/Becky Bayless.
ReplyDeleteEphebophile.
ReplyDeleteI totally believe the story. Even Randy's brother Lanny has implied that it's true. But I think Stephanie was like 18 when it happened, not 14.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Savage just loaded her up with Halcion and then painted on the walls with blood?
ReplyDeleteAre there any pictures of 18-year-old Stephanie? Porn-Peddler?
ReplyDeleteOr at least by JBL's standards.
ReplyDeleteClearly if this rumor is true Vince's anger isn't from Randy banging his daughter. It's because Randy got the one thing Vince always wanted. I mean, dude tried to book himself in an incest pregnancy angle. His life seems like a modern retelling of a Shakespeare play. If the McMahon family doesn't meet its demise in a mashup of Titus Andronicus and Macbeth, with everyone murdering their enemies, each other, or being murdered by other enemies, I'll be very surprised. Also, I have no doubt Vince has probably cooked someone into a pie and fed them to a loved one.
ReplyDeleteHard to say as Macho did come back for the WWE All Stars video game. That Stephanie story just seems too out of bounds for Vince to let Randy come back even for a video game. I don't know Vince personally, but I can't think that as a father he'd allow even that to happen.
ReplyDeleteIf dared I'd ask Vince. I'd never ask Stephanie because I think it would be wrong.
ReplyDeleteRandom thought: perhaps Vince was pissed Randy was so protective of Elizabeth? You can tell Vince wanted a shot at her.
ReplyDeleteI always thought that Vince was upset with Randy leaving because he took the Slim Jim gig with him to WCW.
ReplyDeleteI think it's just a dumb rumor and I cant recall ever seeing Randy having a reputation for going after underage chicks. If it was Lawler, i would believe it.
Who knows, maybe Randy banged Linda...
"Eluded"???
ReplyDeleteI wish I was cool enough to invent a word...
Pedophile??
ReplyDeleteBeing with a 17-year-old hardly makes you a pedophine. Here in Australia, the age of consent is 16, for crying out loud.
Thanks - now that's an image that's going to linger...
ReplyDeleteThere's a teenage pic of her modeling a WWF superstar shirt in an old WWF magazine. I wish I could remember which wrestler it was. It'd be funny as hell if it was Savage's...
ReplyDeleteIsn't there a clip of her and Shane posing as "Creatures of the Night" for Undertaker during some mid '90s show?
ReplyDeleteYes there is.
ReplyDeleteFrom Google the only pics I found were one of her wearing a Matilda shirt and one wearing a rockers shirt.

Yes, point taken. It does exist as a word. Of course, the definitions ALLUDED to by your quote about don't really fit the original usage.
ReplyDeleteOH YEAHHHHH!!! DIG IT!!!!
ReplyDeleteGRAMMAR WARS
ReplyDeleteI just think it's funny he pitched a program with HBK, they say no. He pitches a program with Crush, they say yes. And this was after keeping him cold for the better part of a year.
ReplyDeleteWatching some of those old PPVs around that time is mind-blowing, as Savage is wrestling as an alternate in some matches, or is WAY down the card in others, and is actively the most-over person on the roster.
ReplyDeleteI'd always just heard the theory that Macho brought the SlimJim promotional stuff with him, which was a HUGE chunk of advertising budget. Fuck over Vince on contracts, sure. But COST HIM MONEY?
ReplyDeleteWhat I always think off is that, say Vince did find out about Savage sleeping with a underage Stephanie, would his ego be that big not to inform the police? Also would WCW or any other company willingly employ a pedophile?
ReplyDeleteI think the issue is the Slim Jim contract and the fact that (as some say) a drunk Randy Savage called Vince to tell him he's going to WCW.
Don't forget that the year before his death he was included in WWE merch (DVD, action figure, video game promotion)
Are people retarded? No, Punk doesn't just do whatever he wants, including rib the #2 guy running the fucking company about his wife being raped as a teenager and get away with it scot-free. Christ, that's some of the most delusional Punk dickriding I have ever heard and that says a lot.
ReplyDeleteNash said in his shoot that the reason Vince never forgave or did business with Savage or Luger after they bailed was because Randy was a guy Vince thought of as WWF-for-life, Vince jumped through a ton of hoops to get Luger into the company and they both bailed on him for the enemy with little to no notice.
Occam's Razor.
Jesus Christ haven't we put the Steph rumor to bed?
ReplyDeleteFirst it was "Vince found out in '94 and shitcanned him". Then we remembered that they were clearly still on good terms when he left (Vince gave him an on-air sendoff).
So then it became "Vince didn't know at the time but found out shortly after Savage left". Then we remembered Savage was negotiating with Vince for Survivor Series '96.
So then it was "Ok, Vince found out after '96". But then they released a Savage DVD and struck a deal with him to promote the All-Stars video game and a line of action figures.
You people are the wrestling equivalent of the Moon Landing Hoax nutjobs. You've now settled on "Savage raped Steph around 1990, they both kept it quiet for years until some time in the late '90s when Vince found out. Vince was so furious that he refused to do business with the Man Who Raped His Daughter... until about 10 years had passed and then he decided it was now cool to do business with the Man Who Raped His Daughter."
She got H-BOMBED!!!!
ReplyDeleteTo be fair - They made the DVD without Savage appearing on it at all. It would have been nice to see modern day Savage reflecting on his past matches. I remember they went out of their to get Bret Hart to appear on his DVD. The deals with the video games and the action figures are cut with the companies themselves. Mattel, THQ, and now 2K Sports all made deals with Savage / his estate. This is how Hogan appeared in games while being a TNA guy. Ultimate Warrior for example never cut a new deal with Vince for WWE 2K14, 2K Sports cut the deal. Savage was in great shape around 2001- 2002 when they started bringing back all the legends. A Savage return / Mega Powers reunion would have made some money. Obviously McMahon has some aversion to him and doing business with him. The Raw after he died was sad with barely any mention of him and just a prepackaged video. My hat was off to CM Punk for having the wardrobe lady throw together some pink 3 star tights for him. I'm not saying the Stephanie stuff is true, but where there is smoke, there is usually fire.
ReplyDeleteOn the list of annoying wrestling rumors, this one is up there with "the original Ultimate Warrior died".
ReplyDeleteWait, but if Vince/WWE doesn't want those companies cutting deals with those guys can't they veto it? I would think Vince wouldn't want his daughter's rapist to be making money off his company's products.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying there wasn't bad blood (there clearly was). I'm saying it wasn't Steph-related.
I'm sure Vince doesn't go over video game rosters and action figure releases with a fine tooth comb. All that stuff is delegated to others.
