How Did the Warrior Reach a Deal With the WWE?
The WWE first made contact with Warrior in July at the 2K Sports press event, when HHH had a conversation with him. Vince McMahon then had a meeting with Warrior in August which led to them finally reaching a deal in December.

The contracts of both Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels are set to expire in April. There is a strong feeling within the company that Daniels will the next to go as his contract is one of the biggest ones left on the books.

If the WWE doesn't job out the Warrior in 20 seconds to a pedigree on the Raw after WrestleMania, I've lost all faith in HHH being the worst person ever.
ReplyDeleteNo way the Vince/Warrior meeting wasent super awkward
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite memories of early Attitude era was HHH vs. Shawn Michaels for the Euro title on Raw (near Christmas one year maybe) when they locked up, Shawn hit the ground like he'd been shot and HHH ran the ropes for what seemed like 20 minutes before pinning him with the Warrior splash.
ReplyDeleteThen Nash and Hogan do the same thing and EVERYONE LOSES THEIR MIND!
ReplyDelete/Joker
Well considering Warrior could talk out of both sides of his mouth, I would imagine it would be far less awkward than that other phone call we know about.
ReplyDeleteAfter? Just put it on the show as a WrestleMania rematch. The 50/50 booking will work well in this one.
ReplyDeleteTriple H is the greatest healer the world of professional wrestling has ever known! Years from now, kids will get the day off from school, to celebrate the peace Triple H has brought to sports entertainment!
ReplyDeleteIf only his ego would just mellow out for a while, then he could be appreciated more.
ReplyDeleteTNA is just dropping all of there good wrestlers aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI'd never seen that before so I looked it up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neVtknsSNiM
ReplyDeletepunk's whole body language is amusing in that drawing
ReplyDeletehe's like "kick faces off, yay!"
I'd like to know if Warrior reminded him of their WM12 moment and HHH had to grit his teeth for the rest of the conversation.
ReplyDeleteI buy that as something that would happen.
ReplyDeleteYou've got it ALL wrong. It's BECAUSE of his ego that he is able to bring us all together. There is no one greater, no one who can bring these disparate egos with these legitimate (or insane) gripes against the WWE together.
ReplyDeleteFor it is due to Triple H we have Bruno back among the fold. We have the Warrior joining the ranks of the WWE Universe. If Triple H did not realize the depths of his greatness, it would have never happened.
He is what is best for THIS BUSINESS! We should all honor him with the High Knee salute, after which we lay down for as long as it takes for him to pin us.
If I worked at TNA and was frustrated with my lack of title shots/reigns, I may honestly try that strategy.
ReplyDelete"I quit!"
"OK, here's the World Title."
It's a shame Daniels didn't find this character until such a late point in his career. The character he puts out there now would have been great in early-to-mid-2000s WWE, running around Smackdown having great matches with everyone on that show.
ReplyDeleteAs long as he was kept away from jobbing on Raw, he could have had a pretty sweet time of things.
'Jim, we're thinking of having you job to me in 20 seconds at Wrestlemania'.
ReplyDelete'It's fake, Paul. CTC'.
He wants to be inducted when he feels he's earned it.
ReplyDeleteWorked for WCW! Wait...
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way with R-Truth back when he was considered a TNA guy. He went to WWE and had a pretty good midcard run on Smackdown before being turned into a jobber. Daniels would be the same way too.
ReplyDeleteBook Bald Batista to return again right before hand.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/310935/CM-Punk-Discusses-His-WWE-Contract-Status,-The-Return-of-Batista,-The-Michelle-Beadle-Incident,-More.htm
ReplyDeleteGreat read on 411 summarizing a punk interview. I would hate to see him leave soon but he's had a all time great career. Hopefully he gets one last heel run before its over.
Also his point about the wwe network and the ppv checks is something that I've mentioned a lot. This could really dig into those guys pockets.
Yeah, but they can't turn Daniels into a dancing black character... I guess there's always the Miz to see as an example...
ReplyDeleteI love it. Even in fantasy dead guy world, no one wants to see Chris in the ring again.
ReplyDeleteI don't mean the exact same thing, just used R-Truth as an example because he was mostly considered a TNA guy before coming into WWE, same with Daniels too if he ends up signing, but so long they let Daniels be himself the same way they let Truth be himself, it'd work.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I get the shit that went down with Michelle Beadle. He was offended because she called him fuckface? Or because she called him fuckface in front of a bunch of chicks he hasn't slept with yet? The whole thing seems really ridiculous, and sounds more stupid with each telling of the tale.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Punk sticks around past this July. I don't think we're going to see him main event Mania this year, and I would like to see that happen before Punk retires. He should probably try to work that into his next contract.
It would reek of retardedness if Daniels leaves, but because this is TNA we're talking about I'll get the air freshener.
ReplyDeleteBayless, or anyone for that matter, Scott said in another thread that WON has reported that Sting is finishing up his house show requirements and will be in wwe come WM? Any more details on this?
ReplyDeleteI'm all for a Sting to wwe run, but I'll be infuriated if it's anything more then a HOF induction, nostalgia spot,, or in a midcard match with someone like ADR
You can't bring him in for a midcard spot. I can see just wanting the HOF induction/nostalgia spot, but him coming in to work with a guy like ADR doesn't work for anyone, IMO.
ReplyDeleteQuite a few parts of that interview seem to be worked responses designed to further whatever Punk vs Authority storyline is coming up:
ReplyDeleteAt this stage he wouldn't be in the "WrestleMania shape" HHH likes to see people in. I would have Cena wrestle Undertaker this year and have Sting get in shape and work in the Orlando facility so he can be ready NEXT year.
ReplyDeleteSI thought it was because she called him fuckface but AJ got offended.
ReplyDeleteThat was a good read. Man, I'd really be surprised if he didn't hang around for a few more years. I'm sure he's set now financially but he's spent his entire career getting to this point, why walk away from it after such a short reign as a "made man". Guess he could always do some 1 off WMs but still, he's gotta be making over 5 million a year now
ReplyDeleteI don't think him working any match this year really works for anyone. I'm assuming if they brought him in they'd have him work a match.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be opposed to that. I don't think he can really do much this year. Spend some time building him up amd reintroducing him to the audience before his first wwe match. Hes pretty damaged goods now imo
ReplyDelete*Top 5 handshake*

ReplyDelete----An Excerpt-------
With WWE pay-per-view Royal Rumble this Sunday on Jan 26, 2014, (Monday morning, Singapore time), fans are desperate for Bryan to win the 30-man match which guarantees a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania.
Bryan has bad news though.
"As of now, I'm not in the 30-man Royal Rumble match, I'm trying to get involved in it. (WWE) COO Triple H doesn't want me anywhere in the Royal Rumble match," explained Bryan.
--------------------------
That quote is a bit of a tease.
I don't believe any "bad news" thats not delivered by Wade Barrett
ReplyDeleteHi Paul!
ReplyDeletehttp://dailywrestlingnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Bad-News-Barrett-rises.gif
ReplyDeleteYeah, you are probably right on both counts there. I have zero faith in the creative side to build him up and make him important for next year though.
ReplyDeleteD-Bry gets the belt in the Elimination Chamber somehow, then the build to WM is HHH throwing all he can at him to soften him before Batista destroys him at Mania... and then we get the classic Sting/Vader formula?
ReplyDeleteSpecial guest referee/enforcer is fine.
ReplyDeleteWrestlemania is close enough to an AARP gathering as it is.
You never answered the question of why you would put sting against argueably your #1 wrestlemania draw. Instead you tried to deflect by insulting people? You have very thin skin.
ReplyDeleteMeltzer said the talks have been the most serious that they have ever been and within the WWE, they are beginning to think he is coming into the company and have been thinking about trademarking "A Man They Call Sting."
ReplyDeleteHe hasnt confirmed 100% he is going there yet though
Ted DiBiase's son Mike is fucked:

Thanks. I've heard this before so I won't overreact until it's final but that would be...something
ReplyDeleteWow. "Was trying to break through a wall."
ReplyDeleteThat's fair. At least you have rationale to why you want to see it. I personally don't agree but hey, it's subjective.
ReplyDeleteTNA Wrestling
ReplyDelete"You Know What? Fuck It, Guys. We'll Manage.
Good post. Oooooohhh he called us "white collar marks" after he failed to answer the question. You nailed it. I thought that the desire for Taker/Sting in 2014 was to fill some pseudo comic book fantasy. It's just as much to fulfill some fantasy booking void that could be filled after 14 years. I'd seriously be embarrassed if they went taker/Sting at wm xxx
ReplyDeleteSting looked like shit recently. Balding, overweight, moving slow, unmotivated. His window has really passed.
ReplyDeleteWWE isn't going to sign a guy like Sting to have him sit in development for a year to get into shape. This is what the WWE is trying to sign:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLgv_A-QYnI
And I *like* Sting, and would enjoy seeing him in the WWE. But he needs to rededicate himself to wrestling if he's going to be a full, or even, part time player.
Yeah, he is too old for them
ReplyDeleteI can't tell whether you are being sarcastic or an petulant asshole. If it helps, you failed at the former and succeeded at the latter.
ReplyDeleteThis guy recaps Raw via gifs, often photoshopped, and amusing comments. I was originally going to just post a link to the Rollins/Big E one, but there are a few other good ones too.
ReplyDeletehttp://wrestlingwithtext.com/my-brief-and-uninsightful-recap/vol-132-wwe-raw-2014-1-20
He fully doesn't appear to give a fuck right now.
ReplyDeleteYear was probably an exaggeration. I'm not positive of your point on the video but the guy in the video cant cut it in the wwe in 2014. I think he has value, HOF, maybe a midcard type match but I can't get on board with the contigent (not saying you bc i dont think youre saying that) that think he could walk into a WM match vs Taker at WM XXX and it would be anything other then a flop.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not a year but reintroduce him to the audience while he gets unto shape, build him back up by doing the classic wwe revisionist history stuff, and use him as a nice upper midcard nostalgia player until the wheels fall off him in the summer.
It's the Blade Runners reunion that everyone has been clamoring for.
ReplyDeleteFuck it, rather than having someone that Warrior hates induct him, have Sting do it. I think they're still on good terms?
No chance Sting can come in now and have a match with Undertaker at this WM. It would be terrible. Perhaps a HOF introduction with an appearance on Raw, then have him come back in the summer some time? (as you said, take a few months off to get into shape)
ReplyDeleteIt's the Blade Runners reunion that everyone has been clamoring for.
ReplyDeleteFuck it, rather than having someone that Warrior hates induct him, have Sting do it. I think they're still on good terms?
I'm more shocked with that poll where Axel was misspelled Azel.
ReplyDeleteOnly three? Slow morning it seems.
ReplyDeleteIf this results in "Man Called Sting" being resurrected for his entrance music, I'm not sure what I'll end up doing...
ReplyDeleteI'm hardly saying the guy "bombed". He certainly wasn't a viable Wrestlemania headliner until the Streak became a thing though.
ReplyDeleteAlso, let's not pretend that guys would have to be Rock or Austin in order to get "high profile angles, title runs, and ppv main events". Witness: HHH. Taker has been a company guy for years and as a Vince loyalist, naturally he got the continued high profile. That's kind of my original point as well: he has stayed a main event-level guy and been booked exceptionally strong on top despite never *being* a Rock, Austin, Hogan, etc. Taker is great at what he does, but I've never seen him as a guy who could carry the company or who can draw at a high level outside of the Streak.
And the payoff, Owen beating GoldHHH to win the title from Hunter, wasn't a bad thing either.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised Punk answered everything.
ReplyDeleteAnd by everything I mean the Beadle stuff.
According to TNA's website, Sting isn't scheduled for any upcoming house shows. So either he's already done or Sting is scheduled for house shows and TNA isn't bothering to promote the fact that he will be there. If the latter is the case, that's another completely laughable problem with this company.
ReplyDeleteThen again, with Sting they still only drew 300 to a high school gym, so...
I seriously didn't read any of your post bc I was such a fan of the username.
ReplyDelete"We should mate. I meant date. "
Sting's always been diplomatic about it, but he clearly doesn't like Warrior much. Not sure how Warrior feels about Sting.
ReplyDeleteEh. If he spends the next three months training/dieting I'm pretty sure he can manage one good match. The real problem with the older guys is the travel/recovery periods; Taker can go like he can every year because he's not taking bumps or sleeping in hotels 300 days a year. Let Sting show up for a couple of RAWs, but otherwise just let him get himself back into gear for one last run.
ReplyDeleteI mean, even if the pace is slow, it should be at least as good as those Taker/HHH matches everybody but me seems to like so much.
I'd have Punk do it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Warrior and Sting are still on decent terms, but they're not close at all. Sting distanced himself pretty well from Warrior and his rep back in the day.
God help me, that gimmick's growing on me.
ReplyDeleteCurrently in line for the Sheamus signing. The mutants that come out for these things make me wonder why I watch wrestling.
ReplyDeleteWhy did I have to verify my email before posting again?
ReplyDeleteBecause Chan.
ReplyDeleteYeah, found him a few months ago too.
ReplyDeleteReally? What did I miss?
ReplyDeleteThat guy is talented. The Seth Rollins/American History X mashup is genius.
ReplyDeleteI feel you should change to a Richard Sherman avatar.
ReplyDeleteI kid
It was typical breakup between he and Beadle.
ReplyDeletePunk thought they left on good terms, Beadle probably made herself look like the victim and make it seem like Punk was a dick about it to her girlfriends.
If JoMo comes back, he needs a better finish. Starship Pain is the worst.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably unlikely since Daniels is "too old" and Kazarian may have bad blood from his previous (short) stint with the company....but I'd love to see Bad Influence in WWE. They'd be a very fun midcard addition to the tag division. Hell, even if WWE insisted they go to NXT first, that would be even better, since I'd trust the NXT bookers to handle Bad Influence properly, unlike the Raw/Smackdown team.
ReplyDeleteWhy would Kaz have bad blood with WWE?
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched in forever, who is Spud?
ReplyDeleteHe kept getting banned from the blog, so he kept coming back under different names. Chan, Spam, Rant, all over the course of the day, each one got deleted.
ReplyDeleteAll of his names ended the same though, with dango.
He left WWE right before they were going to push him to the moon. The rumor was that he left because they wanted him to cut his hair. He ended up cutting his hair in TNA shortly afterwards
ReplyDeleteWho is Chan? The NPP guys?
ReplyDeleteSeems like bullshit to me, he was just a job guy in WWE.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you watch it because it has nothing to do with its fan base? Just because you watch it doesn't mean that you're associated with its fan base.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if any comic book geek ever thought about its comic hardcore fanbase while waiting in line to get one of their figures signed by someone they admired? Not a play on you. I genuinely wonder that
Tried to see what he posted and it is all deleted. :(
ReplyDeleteI don't remember this at all.
ReplyDeleteBork Laser signs make me lol.
ReplyDeleteI don't recall any talk of moon-pushing with Kaz. He was basically nobody.
ReplyDelete"Don't worry son, I'll get you out of this jam because everybody, even the most strict police departments has a price!"
ReplyDelete2 minutes later: "Uh son, just talked to the officers about the price for a bail, you may have to stay in there awhile. And here's some advice: Next time you try to break through a wall, make sure to bring the Shockmaster with you."
I could have sworn it would be push-pops
ReplyDeleteThreadjack: If you think threadjacks are bad now, just wait until the Network comes out. Half the posts will be about the topic, the other will be about whatever people are watching.
ReplyDeleteHe was a job guy in the Cruiserweight division
ReplyDeleteDoes it smell like Cheetos, Mountain Dew and wet dog?
ReplyDeleteLOL could you imagine WWE giving Sting an NXT developmental deal? LOLOL
ReplyDeleteDid you bring too many limes?
ReplyDeleteI went to Impact last year and there was a intellectually disabled guy behind me in full Hogan and Sting regalia. The highlight of my night was when he won a most enthusiastic fan contest and got to go backstage. He kept jumping up and down screaming and his stomach kept landing on the back of my head. I wish it weren't a disabled person so I could have said something.
ReplyDeleteSuggestion: Daily "What are you watching on the Network today" thread. Also, a Wednesday comic book thread.
ReplyDeleteI hate threadjacks, with the exception of this one. We need a threadjack awareness post... in the middle of another post.
ReplyDeletePush to the moon is a bit much, but he was on something of a winning streak.
ReplyDeleteReturn of Surfer Sting?
ReplyDeleteYou will damn well love every second of it, obviously.
ReplyDeleteWell, duh. I meant, other than that.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, it's finally going to happen. 2,000 posts coming up. I'm so excited. I'm so excited.
ReplyDeleteI'm so... so... scared!
Other wrestling fans are the #2 reason I'm ashamed to be a wrestling fan.
ReplyDeleteI hate those Taker-HHH matches with a passion. The other day I was going to watch Cena-Miz from WM27 to see if it still sucks (it does), and in going through my homemade dvd I hit the advance five minutes button eight times to get through Taker-HHH. Egads.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I suggested when they announced it, a Network Live Thread each day. I'm sure everyone here can't wait to hear my thoughts about 1995 WWF.
ReplyDeleteDid you meet Jericho?
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of him quitting because of his hair or remember him being "pushed to the moon". He said he left because WWE had nothing for him and the CW division was a joke. The biggest win he had in WWE was over Scotty 2 Hotty, who was viewed as nothing in 2005. Far from being pushed to the moon
ReplyDeleteAwful body odor, cats, and hot dogs.
ReplyDeleteJericho is tomorrow morning, but we're expected to get 3-5 inches of snow overnight so hoping it's not too bad. Sheamus and Jericho are the 18/19th guys to sign my kids encyclopedia so it's worth bearing it for that.
I remember hearing about the hair thing. No idea if it's true or not but it was definitely being reported in some fashion.
ReplyDelete"I think this Bodydonna Skip could really be something... put him over that snobby Helmsley guy before he gets a blood clot."
ReplyDeleteKazarian at the time looked like Randy Orton and RVD's love child.
ReplyDeleteThe story was something like he complained about being stuck on Velocity until they put him on a main show, told him to cut his hair then he refused and left shortly after.
ReplyDeleteAs a dude who goes to comic book conventions and wrestling shows, I often ask myself why I love things that so many mutants gravitate towards.
ReplyDeleteHere's an idea I read elsewhere.
ReplyDelete- Pick a regular time (say... Sunday nights in non-PPV weeks) when everyone watches the same card or documentary on the Network, and have a live thread going for it.
- Or, instead of just doing it live, have it in more of a 'book club' format and pick a show each week that everyone watches when they are able to, and then open a thread about it at a designated time later in the week.
How exactly does one find themselves at a Sheamus signing?
ReplyDeletei always had heard he left b/c after a month of being on velocity, he went to an agent to ask about something and the agent had no idea who he was
ReplyDeleteLive in a city where the Royal Rumble and World of Wheels car show are in town the same weekend. Have said car show e-mail you about the guests. Go.
ReplyDeleteNo, just a guy who came to the blog for the purpose of trolling.
ReplyDeleteIt's ok, you can do it.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to the Rumble?
ReplyDeleteYes. They're also doing a Q&A/signing with Kevin Nash tomorrow night. I'm thinking they should've just had a royal rumble axxess event.
ReplyDeleteExcept for Pamela Chanderson.
ReplyDeleteNice Saved by the Bell reference.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the Q&A? I think I might wanna check that out.
ReplyDeleteLatitude 40
ReplyDeleteSunday Night Disqus Sleepover!
ReplyDeleteThanks, forgot about that one. His best name also.
ReplyDeleteWay out in the sticks? That sucks.
ReplyDeleteI'll ask mom if its ok!
ReplyDeletePart of the deal was that Nash puts Warrior over on RAW... 18 years after the initial request.
ReplyDeleteNah, it's a good solid #2. Not a solid good #2.
ReplyDeleteLet's have a serious poll shall we?
ReplyDeletehttp://poll.pollcode.com/6777299
He might be annoying, but he can be funny sometimes. His argument with Worst_in_the_World about Batista was somewhat tame though unlike his usual trolling. Face turn?
ReplyDeleteI see him as more of a tweener.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fine name -- book it
ReplyDeleteI guess you're right.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call Robinson the sticks...
ReplyDeleteEverything outside of the city is the sticks to me.
ReplyDeleteThe worst part about it is that if you want your autograph, you're trapped with whoever you're sandwiched in between... and most wrestling fans don't understand that just because you're on line to meet a wrestler, not everybody wants to talk about wrestling with a mouth-breathing total stranger.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's more like Roode was upset that Angle was being inducted into the Hall of Fame before him, so his mission has been to prove that Angle isn't even worthy of HOF consideration. Separately, Angle declined the 1st time TNA tried to induct him because he felt like he'd let everybody down (reference to his drinking and recent run-ins with the law). So while he's not exactly fighting Roode to win a HOF spot, Angle thinks beating Roode once and for all is a necessary 1st step in his path to really "earning" his Hall of Fame spot. It's the really convoluted version of "Heel is jealous of babyface's popularity."
ReplyDeleteSome short little guy who's an ineffectual member of Dixie's new corporate heel stable. He may be a talented guy, but he's pretty small even by TNA standards, and has a goofy name which prevents him from being taken seriously. Which I guess is kind of the point.
ReplyDeleteThe short version is that his role is kind of like Vincent from the nWo.
"Rockstar Spud." He's like Patterson and Briscoe rolled into one short British guy who wears a bowtie.
ReplyDeleteIs Scott Steiner available?
ReplyDeleteI see Sting and Undertaker as two of the last throwback "gimmick" characters. Neither goes by a "real" name (John Cena, James Storm, etc.) and both have unnatural abilities (appearing/disappearing mysteriously, controlling pyro with their mind, defying Father Time, etc.). In this era of making wrestlers closer to real-life personas, Sting and Taker are delightfully "fake." It's the last real nostalgic '80s/'90s match left that can realistically happen. And in many ways it's the face of the old WWF vs. the face of WCW. All the "dream" matches against WWE lifers you can have involving Sting, the one guy who's closest to retirement is Undertaker, so it needs to happen soon or it will never happen.
ReplyDeleteThere's always been a dividing line.
ReplyDeleteBut you choose (yes you choose yes you choose) not to see it.
If it's AJ, I could buy that excuse.
ReplyDeleteThey've done Hogan vs. Vince, Flair vs. Vince and Bret Hart vs. Vince. They'd totally do Taker vs. Sting.
ReplyDeleteKickstarter is too good for TNA it's probably more like a buy it now on ebay.
ReplyDelete
