ReplyDeleteAs John Cena feuds with the Wyatts and gets his ass kicked, Ric Flair makes an intervention telling John that he's always seen a bit of himself in Cena (which is more valid than you think: before John "sold out," Jim Cornette called him the "next Ric Flair.") Naitch pleads with John that in order to beat the Wyatts, he needs to sink down to their level. John gives his usual spiel about Hustle, Loyalty, Bullshit and keeps getting his ass handed to him. Flair keeps pressuring and pressuring, and just when it seems that John is going to fall to the dark side... Sting shows up. Flair freaks out.
Sting gives a speech near-identical to Flair's first one, saying that he's always seen a bit of himself in Cena. He tells John to never give up or to compromise his values. Flair does not take this well, and the rest of the angle plays out as the two working as John's conscience. Sting is the angel on his shoulder, Flair is the devil on the other.
Then what would make it REALLY great is if John and Flair turned on Sting, but I don't see things playing out that way.

None of these are a stretch. Reasonable assumptions based on what we know about Punk and Vince.
Actually, they COULD do that. Book Cena, Flair and Sting against the Wyatts at Mania, Flair low blows Sting for old times sake, but he and John win anyway.

Meltzer/Keller/Powell all have yet to mention breach of contract, or that he acted in a way that was even disrespectful to Vince. You're completely creating this narratives based on assumptions that you want to be true.

The short notice thing is different in something like pro wrestling than it is for say an office job.

If Punk went in there on Monday and said this isn't working for me and I want off the road and I'm not working Mania, then for all we know Vince would have rather just ended his TV appearances there.
Punk worked the Rumble. He took a big table spot after the elimination. He hadn't started a new storyline. Basically, his writing out was done at that point.
I don't want any of this to be true. I'm a fan of Punk to be clear. All these are just "well we don't know so let's blindly five phil Brooks the benefit of the doubt on this."

I definitely felt old and out of place in there, but I heard they had wrestling shirts and when I saw the sign for the sale, I went to inspect. From what I remember, they were all $20, but I might be wrong. They even had a Big Boss Man shirt that was pretty sweet. I would've bought it but it said, "Like A Boss" on it and I would've felt like an idiot wearing something with that phrase on it.

They either want to see Crow Sting or Classic Sting. While his mic skills are passable, it's not as if that's the part of his presence everybody loved.

ReplyDeleteThe CM Punk chants at NXT got old really fast, luckily their was quite a bit of good wrestling, a couple debuts, Adam Rose's debut was tremendous, and lots of hype for "NXT Arrival" which is the name to the live special (that they kept calling Pay Per View) on Thursday night the week the WWE Network starts. Already have my tickets for that and the tv tapings the following night, as well as a NXT house show in 2 weeks. There's a WWE house show here as well tomorrow, but it'll cost me as much as those 3 shows cost and Bryan's not on it so thinking about skipping it.
Yeah but the GM idea is so overdone, Brad is fine because he doesn't do much, if Sting was GM they'd make sure he shows up all the time and the GM position would be far more exposed and prevalent, it would get real real old.

Big Show was in his 20's and about to enter the prime of his career. Sting is 10-15 years past his prime, and in his mid 50's. Scenarios couldn't possibly be more different.

I've had normal expressive debates with alot of people. Very little of it was being an "asshole". Go back and read my discussions with worst in the world and Kyle warne. With very few exceptions, It couldn't have been more cordial. Why does debating the biggest story in the past 6 months bother you so much?
I am TERRIFIED that Sting is going to wrestle in WWE. Because I have no doubt that if he does, then this will happen:
ReplyDelete- HHH will turn face and feud with the Authority
- Sting will come in as a face and be HHH's partner in a tag match against Orton and Batista
- HHH will turn on Sting during the tag match
- HHH will beat Sting at SummerSlam
If Sting comes in, that will happen. HHH has spent too long trying to emulate Ric Flair's career to pass up the opportunity to turn on Sting and play the entire thing straight.
Could be a part of it, but if Bruno can accept the product, it has to be acceptable...

Its gone on forever but I've never understood jumping on someone for using a wrestlers real name. If you called Daniel Day Lewis Daniel Plainview or Al Pacino Michael Corleone people would look at you like you were fucking retarded. I mostly use the gimmick name because its just shorter to type hhh or shiek or Kofi than use a real name, and I have no idea what like booker t or Christian or many other guys real names even are. But I've never seen the issue.

ReplyDeleteThe draw of Sting is going to be seeing him in the wwe for the first time. As soon as he is on wwe the returns on him as a draw are gonna diminsh, really quickly imo. The best way to use him would be 1-2 matches against a top level guy to capitalize on the novelty of seeing him in the wwe. If you put him in programs with khali and big show, those wouldn't draw plus you'd lose out on the novelty factor for future feuds

ReplyDeleteI did get you were trying mock me. What you fail to understand, and why I edited it, is that you were using it in the context of policing a subjective argument. I was using it in talking about tangible things like contracts, when he quit, etc.
Besides asking Warne if he was acting dumb or something in that fashion, I didn't take personal shots, stray off topic, or mock anyone (which is more then I can say for you during this conversation). I don't have to pount out the hypocrisy in this, do I? I've vehemently defended a position. If this constitute "being an asshole" I can't help you at all. I always liked how they utilized Bischoff until the Cena feud in 2005. He was never overly involved in storylines, just a dickhead authority figure who made things needlessly difficult for the faces. A heel Teddy Long, basically.
