Daniel Bryan Update

This is from Bryan Alvarez in today's Figure Four Weekly Newsletter:

Alvarez confirms that the original plan was for the storyline to last more than two weeks, with the idea that Wyatt brainwashed Bryan. In regards to WrestleMania, Alvarez was told by a source that two matches were planned for Bryan, one with him as part of the Wyatt Family and the other with him away from the family against Bray. Days before RAW, Alvarez was told by his source that Bryan's WrestleMania plans had been changed.

However, when the footage of the Michigan St. fans chanting "YES" became shown all over the place, with some commentators and anchors even mentioning Daniel Bryan by name, Alvarez's source told him that they felt "100% fully embarrassed" as the beloved face was now part of a heel stable and getting no reactions at this past weekend's house shows that the choice was made to break him away from the family.

Backstage, everyone was reportedly in awe of the reaction that Bryan received at the end of this past RAW, with one source telling Alvarez that "Vince loves Bryan," referencing Vince's reaction to what he was seeing take place. Vince's goal for WrestleMania is now to get the entire crowd to chant "YES" in unison.

The bad news in all of this is that Bryan apparently suffered a major concussion during the steel cage match on RAW and will be out of action indefinitely. This is not the first concussion that Bryan has suffered. Just before RAW went off of the air, a production guy looked up at Bryan and told him to keep chanting and Bryan looked very confused. Bryan himself then told WWE producers backstage after the show that he had very little recollection as to what happened in his match.

Just before the newsletter was published, the last word Alvarez received from his source was that Bryan's match at the Royal Rumble was off.

UPDATE: Looks like Bryan is still advertised against Bray Wyatt in a Steel Cage match for today's house show in Indiana. However, no one seems to know if this is still on or if he is even medically cleared.

  1. That sucks about the concussion. Would he be able to travel to RAW? I'm sure he can keep the momentum going without wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Austin broke his neck but still got over huge due to creative booking, hopefully they figure something out for Bryan until he's healthy..

    ReplyDelete
  3. Indefinitely? Ouch. There goes a huge chance he won't have a big showing at the Rumble. He can still have a huge match at Mania, though.

    ReplyDelete
  4. A, GREAT plans for WM, Vince. Vince needed THIS chant to see how over Bryan is, as all of the ones prior to this weren't loud as Hell too?

B, I don't know, I'm no doctor, but he doesn't look confused during all the post-match stuff. He stops leading the chant about 5 seconds prior to the fadeout and I don't see a production guy around the ring to look up at Bryan. Fingers crossed they're just muddying the water for a Rumble win.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Well, that's just great..

    ReplyDelete
  6. Only now Vince sees the money he can have with Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  7. B: I really doubt WWE (or ANY "sports/entertainment" group) wants to risk the MASSIVE backlash that using a "fake" concussion would get from the media and special interest groups. Your local indy could likely pull it off without much comment, but not a company as large as WWE is.

This is "Covering Your Ass in Adamantium-level Protection" 101, much like Ziggler being benched is. And it's the right thing to do, at least morally.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I agree,he needs to be healthy enough to win the rumble and beat Lesnar at Mania.

Sorry,my fanboy side is really out of control.

    ReplyDelete
  9. So tens of thousands of wrestling fans chanting 'yes' Vince is quite happy to ignore but some basketball fans chant it and then he sees how popular he is?

Has there ever been an entertainment company that treats it's own fans with such disdain?

I mean I'm glad Bryan now appears to be in a strong position but fuck me this company seems to be run ass backwards sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yeah, I was going to say. You can literally do the same thing here that they did with Austin back in the day

    ReplyDelete
  11. Am I the only one scared that this Bryan concussion news (which has been very spotty and vague as opposed to whenever anyone else gets a concussion, like Dolph) is WWE trolling us again? Like last Monday was Bryan acting unconsciously and he won't remember attacking Bray, to extend the angle. Vince isn't above seeing the light but still insisting on getting what he wants at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I wonder if they are going to run a house show angle to explain his absence?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Vince is senile and the power couple are useless.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Okay, best case scenarios ahead, assuming he's OUT for Rumble:

A: Bryan misses Royal Rumble, but is available for Elimination Chamber. He "qualifies" for the Chamber, and JUST misses out on winning the match. Yeah, this takes him out of Mania's main event most likely, but he should be in GREAT position coming out of Mania to challenge (and win, and HOLD for a while) the champ. Mania opponent: ?????, because he needs a good match and a "quality" win. And I don't know who'd be available to give that to him, once the Mania matchups shake out.

B: Bryan is out past Elimination Chamber, but available for at least three weeks pre-Mania. This might not be popular, but he'd likely end up with a "fourth or fifth" option as his opponent, and likely be placed towards the middle of the card, if not the opener. IF this is the scenario, maybe Rollins is ready to take a step up, even in defeat. Bryan/Rollins taking the Bret/Owen at WM10 formula, and just finishing with a decisive Bryan win instead, would make that crowd HOT.

C: IF Bryan is out until close to Mania (say he's not cleared by Mania minus 15 days)... I don't know if it's worth "rushing" him back into what would be no more than a "quickie" angle to get him on the card. Unless Bray's still without an opponent (Bryan's "final" revenge), Bryan's in a poor position.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Jesus everyone around him and his own crowd tells him Bryan is over but not until it's "trending" does he buy into it

vince's reasoning for changing his mind?

    B/C MAINSTREAM ATTENTION

    ReplyDelete
  17. Austin didn't miss a Mania from the original injury, however.

While I doubt Bryan'll be out that long, shit, concussions are still relatively uncharted waters in the medical field.

    ReplyDelete
  18. If he's out past the elimination chamber, that would probably have to be like the worst concussion ever.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I mention it below, but "fucking around" with concussions isn't exactly PR-friendly.

And right now, WWE SHOULD NOT want to risk any PR backlash, especially with their current "positive" attitude between the Network and the Bryan "rewrite". It's shit luck, but shit happens.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Only because he has a prior history do I even consider those options.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I thought he looked *REALLY* confused during the post-match stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Welcome to Daniel Bryan's Danlel Bryan of Daniel Bryan where you can discuss Daniel Bryan while you watch Daniel Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So did I . Right when the camera closed in on his face at the end, he looks confused

    ReplyDelete
  24. Concussions aren't something you can just point at and say "You will miss this much time". Sometimes you could be fine very quickly...other people show symptoms for a long time. The fact that he's had a concussion before doesn't help. I wouldn't expect him to miss Elimination Chamber, typically the symptoms won't last that long unless he has a Grade 3 (which I don't think he does), but yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah, there's no way. IF WWE is trolling us (which I very much doubt), we're gonna find out very, very soon, because they're not going to acknowledge any kind of a concussion in any way on TV or in a public statement, and the "trolling" will simply be that they allowed people to report he had a concussion when he didn't really. There's no way they'd make it an angle in the way being suggested. The closest they'd come to that is what they did with Ziggler at Payback, where he actually did have a concussion prior to that and they had Del Rio targeting his head.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That's pretty much classic Vince.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'd guess he's out for the Rumble, they won't (and shouldn't) screw around with concussions anymore. I would say there's an outside shot that, if the symptoms are gone fairly soon, he could participate in the Rumble match, but he'd have to be cleared before then, and it might be a bit soon. It's unfortunate.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So, if we want to see a wrestler we like get a push we should cheer for them at a basketball game? Gotcha!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Really? I just saw him doing what you'd expect him to be doing in that situation - shrugs off Wyatt's Sister Abigail attempt, milks the crowd, avoids Wyatt's corner attack, punches him a few times, retreats to the far corner, 3 corner dropkicks, kick strikes for YES! chants, takes off the Wyatt gear, throws Wyatt into Luke and Rowan as they're going up the cage, builds the crowd into a frenzy for the flying knee, flying knee, immediately goes up the cage to lead the ginormous YES! chant. Nothing taking "too much" time, no stumbling or wandering around...are you sure it was there before you heard about this concussion and you're not just worried about the Rumble going poof? I mean, I'd be the first one to do that, lol, but I really can't see anything.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttiGTC5B2gg

    ReplyDelete
  30. As much as I would like to see Bryan in the Rumble match I would much rather they play it safe and not have him rush back.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Agreed 100%. I'd only put him in if he's legit cleared and it's not rushing him back at all, which might not be realistic since this isn't a first time concussion.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Urgh.

I can't wait till this YES stuff dies down for good. Bryan should he challenging for the Intercontinental Championship and only occasionally for the world title, with maybe a small reign here and there (perhaps at least one big reign.) I really don't get why Bryan is so popular when he is the archetype of Average.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just gotta get Vince that mainstream lovin'... It's his cocaine.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Did Hunter blatantly faking a concussion get a massive backlash from special interest groups? They put up a notice and hopefully it's to freak us out about Bryan not winning the Rumble.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Except Triple H was reportedly the guy who took Vince aside and said that it was time to break Bryan away from the Wyatts, leading to the reaction he got on Monday, which apparently made Vince "love Bryan." I know we all like to bash the powers that be for being slow, but it looks like they figured something out here.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Russian leg sweeps from the top rope are unnecessary.
I literally cringed watching the amount of top rope bumps him and the Usos were taking. Most of them were to no reaction too. =(

    ReplyDelete
  37. Did that angle get ANY conclusion, or was it quietly shelved and never spoken about since? I'd consider that a good enough answer.

    ReplyDelete
  38. So I take away the insult from HHH.

    ReplyDelete
  39. He's popular because he's awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah, that Hunter's too much of a tough guy manly man to listen to doctors. They still faked it and risked it, and that was on TV no less, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yeah, he is pretty average, except for his wrestling abilities, charisma, the things that make people good in wrestling. But like, in height he's TOTALLY average at best!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Is it you Baker?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Someone WANTED attention here.

    ReplyDelete
  44. In that case, what's your Mania main event? Better yet, your Top Four guys in the company to be in the title picture.

    ReplyDelete
  45. He is a pretty good wrestler but I don't primarily watch just for the wrestling. I watch for good characters and he has a pretty mundane one with no real depth. Except for cutting average promos and then screaming YES.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Please correct me if I'm off-target, but it lasted all of two-three weeks, involved a "new" guy who no one gave one shit about, much less two, and mostly was Hunter looking like the Neanderthal idiot his "character" (NOT HIM) should have been all these years.

    ReplyDelete
  47. OK, so I was looking at WWE.com, and I didn't see any mention there in the "news" section about Bryan's concussion. Has it been confirmed on television? I didn't watch Smackdown and I haven't read a recap yet.

    ReplyDelete
  48. You really think Bryan is gonna be in the main event? The only Mania title match I can see Bryan being involved in would be Orton/Bryan/Cena (similar to Benoit/HBK/HHH, except not as epic) and I don't see that happening at this point. (Then again, vanilla midgets always get their big moment at the manias that end in zero... Bret at 10, Benoit/Eddie at 20, etc.) Bryan/Lesnar is a pipe dream that nerds need to forget about happening at all unless it's on a B-PPV.

I'd say either Punk/HHH (non title, of course) or Lesnar/Batista for the title are more plausible as the headline match.

    ReplyDelete
  49. No,only on Meltzer's and Alvarez's postings.

    ReplyDelete
  50. lol Just because I happen to have a different opinion than 99.9% of the people here?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yes,accept Bryan as your only Savior.

wwe: "it's not a real problem till we say it's a problem"

    ReplyDelete
  53. Points for not using the obvious answer of Cena, and for not using Orton.

Minus points for "vanilla midget"... money is GREEN, and THE SAME SIZE no matter who makes it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well, that's kind of where I was going with my question. They have, in the past, announced concussions on the website, too. I haven't seen any house show reports of D-Bry wrestling, or the crowd being informed of no Daniel Bryan when he was advertised.

I guess if there's a steel cage match advertised tonight, we should see what happens tonight to confirm if the concussion is real or a work.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yeesh. So on 9th December this happens -

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsESZMBJhXw

And they're not 100% embarrassed then? At least HHH had the sense to shut up and just let it all happen - does someone have to draw them a picture?

    ReplyDelete
  56. And guys like Bryan are never the main money makers. Most people aren't bright enough to see it but crowd reaction isn't the same as being a draw. Bryan will eventually end up as Bret and Eddie did (who was very over himself but wasn't much of a draw), a guy credible enough to be a main eventer (although as previously mentioned, I could see him dropping down and feuding with people in the under card just as Jericho did) but a B-star nonetheless.

He barely even makes the top 5 merch sellers the last I checked. Orton is higher on that list than him, and Cena and Punk both still are. That's likely why Punk is getting the match with HHH over Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wasn't this the show in Seattle? They brushed it off as "it's near his hometown, of course he was going to get a big reaction."

    ReplyDelete
  58. Nice to see you're either an employee or a shareholder, because I don't see ANY way Orton outsells Bryan in any merch metric.

But I freely admit to no knowledge of the numbers here.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Who do you enjoy then?

    ReplyDelete
  60. They did it again with the Big Show in November, too. Not much restraint has been shown with toying around with the concussion angles.

    ReplyDelete
  61. HHH,HHH and HHH,It's probably Vince posting.

    ReplyDelete
  62. "He barely even makes the top 5 merch sellers the last I checked."

    Where is this list?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yeah, that one wasn't much god either.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Featuring Tyler Perry.

    ReplyDelete
  65. They could have him come in at 30 and do very little and still win. You don't really have to work much in a Rumble match if you don't have to.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yeah, best thing to do is to turn him into a giant pussy and then have him brainwashed by some weirdo hicks. I mean seriously, can you ever imagine them doing that angle with Cena? Austin? Rock? Mankind? Actually, Mick Foley did have an angle like that, it was called Lost in Cleveland. Oh for a world where Steve Austin became Chilly McFreeze or Ice Dagger instead of Stone Cold.....

    ReplyDelete
  67. He actually puts a couple of decent, if moderately unlikely, Mania main events above. I'd shy away from calling him a troll, he's just a fan in the "Vince and Nash" mold.

    ReplyDelete
  68. If Vince wants to see the entire crowd chant 'Yes' at Mania maybe he should just watch last year's show

    ReplyDelete
  69. I know,I like Mr.Knee too,just trolling this time around.

    ReplyDelete
  70. That isn't a PR nightmare at all. They did a worked concussion angle last year. They do worked injuries all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Memory problems,he's too old.

    ReplyDelete
  72. And did one with Ziggler.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Feel awful for Bryan, if he can't go at Rumble, he is fucked. Only work around I can see is having Bray win the Rumble, hope that Bryan is healthy by EC and have Bryan go over him in a match for the title shot.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Are you reading one of HHH's Raw speeches from September?

    ReplyDelete
  75. In this age when top rope piledrivers get a 2-count, psychology is more important than ever. I much prefer watching the guys telling stories in their matches via their facial expressions and action rather than taking Super Bombs off the top of the cage or whatever....

    ReplyDelete
  76. The solution is to give Big Show the Daniel Bryan gimmick.

    ReplyDelete
  77. So, end of the Royal Rumble, you've got the entire Wyatt Family and all three Shield guys in there. It seems like the two factions have a gentlemen's agreement to join up and then fight 3-on-3 at the end, and thus the six are teaming up to dump the Rhodes brothers, Kofi, Mysterio and other major faces. Through 28 men, it's Punk (who got an early number and is on an iron man run) as the last man against all six, and the buzzer goes at #29 to bring out Kane. Despite the "Authority wants you to win" jive, Kane attacks Punk as well. Punk manages to fight back, somewhat, however, and he's tangled up with Ambrose against the ropes when Reigns dumps them both out. Dean is going nuts on the floor, and ends up distracting Reigns long enough for the Wyatts to dump him out too.

So it's Rollins, Kane, Bray, Harper and Rowan when the buzzer goes at #30. It's Daniel Bryan. He hits the ring and the odds are definitely not in his favour. Kane is the first to confront him...but Kane instead attacks the Wyatts and cleans house. He tosses Harper and Rowan while Bryan tosses Rollins, and Bray is able to dump Kane out, only to turn around and eat a running knee from Bryan that knocks him over the ropes and out. Bryan wins the Rumble, YES YES YES

This method could allow Bryan to win the match (if that's at all the plan) with minimal physical involvement, while also getting over the idea that Kane is a mole within the Authority.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I think there could have been a lot of interesting storytelling with Bryan and the Wyatts, and I was willing to give it to the Royal Rumble to see how it played out, but I don't know that it was a particularly smart move.

Austin, Rock and Mankind managed to avoid some stupid decisions because they had the stones (or the smarts, or the testicular fortitude) to tell Vince that they disagreed with his plans. But it was a much different time with a much different structure for the storytelling of the shows.

I don't particularly care if they get behind Bryan, put the title on him or make him the "face of the WWE." I just want an entertaining show when I watch. Personally, I think they've been delivering lately.

    ReplyDelete
  79. If they are truly serious about Bryan, have him win the Rumble and have him go on to face Brock at Mania. Brock can give him a star making match and not give a crap about politics.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Don't worry, he has no knowledge either.

    ReplyDelete
  81. The beauty of having the Elimination Chamber PPV available is that you can use the show to change the story when injuries mess up the Rumble. Bryan's out and can't win the Rumble? Rebook the EC so that Bryan wins there and send him to Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Pretty sure cocaine is his cocaine.

    ReplyDelete
  83. You can save the insult for later on when HHH decides to siphon Bryan's heat away when they finally feud.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I Was talking about the end of the show, right before it ends with Bryan sitting on top of the cage and he looks at the crowd. He looks confused.

I am talking about watching this after the news broke of his concussion but he did appear a bit unaware as to what was going on. Usually, he looks focused or is smiling but he looked out of it then.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Well, if you're keeping the champ out of the Chamber, that works. If not... that's the WRONG place for Bryan's "big" win.

    ReplyDelete
  86. So, you don't want fans cheering for someone you don't like all that much is your point in all of this?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Does that set a bad precedent for the Rumble, though? Will fans lose interest in the Rumble if the winner simply loses his shot a month later? I suppose they have had Vince give up his title shot, Steve lose his title shot after his non-win, and had a split decision ending and it didn't hurt the show.

I guess you could always have Bryan win the title at EC to get into the Wrestlemania main event. It's possible I'm just throwing that out there because I'll be at that show, though.

    ReplyDelete
  88. It wouldn't be the first time the Rumble winner lost his shot somewhere along the line. And given how bitchy the Authority has been lately, you have a winner they don't like (could it be Punk? Hmmm). Taking the shot away from him sets up the EC match, the Punk-HHH Mania match, and allows Brock to have a 1-on-1 match for the WWE World Heavyweight International Championship at EC.

I've really grown on the idea of having Brock-Bryan for the title at WrestleMania.

also, vince knew he couldnt afford to piss them off too much. yeah they were locked into contracts, but the monday night wars were still very much a thing. these days, vince doesn't have to worry about fans following a wrestler to another promotion. yes, dbry is popular in general but only not in the 'i'll follow him around' sense (at least not to anyone who's not a general wrestling fan)

  90. And honestly, I do not believe there is ANYONE (no, not even Cena) today that would get much of a following outside the WWE machine.

  97. Eddie was a huge draw. Especially in the Latino markets.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Well, a bunch of people in every arena across the country disagree with you on that. Because he seems to be the only guy who's matches the fans are into besides Cena and Punk's.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I read somewhere (probably posted by the beloved Meltzer or Alvarez or whoever, or maybe WWE themselves posted it somewhere) that the top 5 merch sellers were Cena, Punk, Orton, Bryan. Ziggler in that order.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Not bad, but two things:

We've already had two #30 winners, and if anybody is going to win via those means again, it really should be a heel. Also, Bryan's entire gimmick is that he's a fighter, winning the match while not doing much would be against his whole character.

Maybe have him attacked earlier in the match by all three Wyatts, have him carted to the back, and then have him come out again near the end? At least that shows some "fighting spirit".

    ReplyDelete
  101. Outside of the Latino market, he was an average draw unless you mean merchandise (I'm not aware of his merch sells, but I'm sure he did well in that area.)

    ReplyDelete
  102. Poor Batista. Give him something better to do than a warmed over feud with a guy who can't promo… a feud Batista had to carry basically himself the first time.

    ReplyDelete
  103. B. Concussions are funny things. I coach girls soccer and had a girl get one. Took her to the DR and she seemed fine except for the fact that she didn't remember much of the day past lunch time (our game was in the evening). In fact the only reason she knew she was in a soccer match is because she was wearing her uniform.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I think you can point to that night as the night Vince & Triple H thought... Mark Henry needs to look like a puss... IMMEDIATELY!

    ReplyDelete
  105. When he's not acting corny or childish, Cena. I almost always enjoy him in the ring despite what people want to say about his "less-than-stellar" ring work. Same goes with Orton (although as The Viper, I very much prefer him as a babyface.) Sandow is pretty entertaining. HHH is awesome, yes, thanks for noticing. Mark Henry and Big Show entertain me too, although I'm aware that enjoying the latter is pretty unpopular on the internet. Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and The Shield are all great in their own way, too. Punk (although he's been quite boring recently.) I was off and on with Ryback for a bit but since he has pretty much no credibility left, I couldn't care less about him anymore. Barrett's been entertaining again lately, too.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Don't know if you know this, but the Latino market is very nearly a majority (vs. other demos) of WWE's income. Not so much in attendance, necessarily, but for whatever reason Latino households historically are much more willing to spend money on WWE merch and PPVs. This has been true since at least the Attitude Era, and it's why guys like Del Rio and Sin Cara get pushes/second chances that are way disproportionate to their actual performance. It's… *ahem*… Good for Business(™).

    ReplyDelete
  107. Like others as have, I was actually really into the Bryan/Wyatts angle and was very interested in seeing where it went - Bryan's a fantastic performer that can spin anything into gold, Bray is really good, and there were a ton of directions that the angle could have gone. Bryan stated that he wanted to be a mentor to Rowan and Harper, would Bryan have eventually "out-crazied" Bray and taken over? Kane is a heel now, could we have gotten a heel version of "Team Hell No"? Could the five men mentioned have all conspired together to take down Trips and Steph from the inside?

The problem, of course, was that as interesting as the angle could have been, the timing couldn't have been worse. Bryan is on the cusp of being their next big break-out star, you don't take that momentum and put it into a mid-card stable. It's also "Road to WrestleMania" season, you don't take a guy as over as him and NOT start setting him on his path to one of WM's marquee matches.

This could have been a really good story-line if it had been done even a few months ago - maybe Bryan joins in September or October, after being screwed out of the title and Bryan is at his most vulnerable, and then blow it all off in December/January when Bryan would have regained his confidence. Having him join now was just too late to let the story-line play out and then transition him onto bigger things.

  108. If only we all did the Bret Hart arms thing in '97 at the Final Four... Montreal may have never happened.

  109. Already has once. There were many weeks in the past few months where he got a pretty average reaction coming to the ring. It'll get that way again when people eventually get bored of the Daniel Bryan/YES fad and the internet then once again realizes that an indy hero of their's isn't the next big thing after all (the same thing happened with Punk in 2011/2012... people thought he could/would replace Cena as the permanent face of the company but, of course, us smart ones knew better than that.)

    ReplyDelete
  110. I'm mostly bored of delusional fans on the 'net thinking Bryan is the next big thing and believing he can actually knock off Cena as the face of the company when he won't.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Ohhh. You read somewhere, how solid is your argument.

'Vince's goal for WrestleMania is now to get the entire crowd to chant "YES" in unison.'

dbry dethrones orton with a stipulation by vince himself that if orton loses there are no rematches for him

    /mission accomplished

    ReplyDelete
  113. Please no Bryan/Orton again. Give us Lesnar (hired hand by Triple H as they did shake hands a couple weeks ago) vs. Bryan or even HHH vs. Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yeah, mmkay. Just accept that your vanilla midget hero isn't as much of a money maker as you wish him to be.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Say what you want about HHH being for Bryan or against him, but right there, right then he looks pissed off and I love it

    ReplyDelete
  116. Your_Favourite_LoserJanuary 18, 2014 at 3:36 PM

i really think this wm is the one to make it dbry's wm, not simply be a big part of it

think wm x (bret), wm xii (hbk), wm xiv (austin on top), vs wm 13 (austin/hart as a standout)

    ReplyDelete
  117. No one said he needs to "knock off Cena." The Rock did halfway okay for himself without becoming bigger than Stone Cold.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Bryan isn't "the next big thing".

    He's the current big thing.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Yeah, it died down because he was stuck in a dumb storyline with three doofuses who get no reaction.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Hell no. I haven't seen him mention any sort of BLOOD FEUD.

    ReplyDelete
  121. How is either main event that I mentioned unlikely? The way Lesnar is running through big men (he broke the arm of "The World's Strongest Man" and he's gonna run through "The World's Largest Athlete" at the Rumble) makes me think that another big guy is gonna be the one to step up and put him down. That's where Batista comes in. Lesnar/Batista is a dream match and will draw much more than any match with Bryan. "The Beast" vs "The Animal" is a great match moniker.

Punk/HHH is already slowly building up at the moment so I shouldn't have to make an argument for that one.

You really are delusional if you think Lesnar/Bryan will ever happen at Mania. Both of the matches I listed are far more plausible than that.

    ReplyDelete
  122. 1: Cena's "knock" isn't his ringwork, it's his stale as fuck character. Any ringwork jokes are mainly tongue-in-cheek, or dated.
2: Fair enough on Orton, and in all honesty he's been as badly used since Summerslam as Bryan.
3: Sandow's another "victim" of Creative, it seems.
4: HHH would be fine if he announced his in-ring retirement tomorrow. Or fuck, even after a loss at Mania. But much like Dusty, wrestling and booking mix badly.
5: Mark Henry is pretty damn awesome, Big Show can be okay, but is also stale as fuck. As a heel OR face... he just needs a long vacation. Someone find him a movie role, please.

Past that, I pretty much agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Have him win the Rumble then take a monster beating from Brock only to triumphantly win the title from him sounds better than Bryan/Orton for the fifth time in the last 8 months.

    ReplyDelete
  124. That's fine, because I am sick of 'net fans who think they know everything and make up generalizations to prove their point.

    ReplyDelete
  125. You're not even using vanilla midget correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Or paying Kane sodomize John Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  127. ... I said nothing about Lesnar/Bryan. Lesnar/Batista COULD be entertaining, but as the main event? No thanks. And if I had ANY faith in HHH "showing ass", HHH/Punk would be okay in that spot. But, I reserve the right to be HIGHLY skeptical based on overall past performance.

    ReplyDelete
  128. A smaller wrestler who, while usually good/great in the ring, is bland and generic as a character. That's Bryan for you.

    ReplyDelete
  129. It hasn't even come close to cooling off since 28. I've never seen someone make up so much stuff just because he doesn't like a wrestler. Did Bryan kick your dog or something?

    ReplyDelete
  130. In his update for today, Meltzer says that the WWE has only confirmed to him (and to Keller and Mike Johnson) that Bryan suffered a concussion and have not released any updates or have said so on the WWE website. I will post the results of this house show as soon as I see it tonight to see if Bryan participated

    ReplyDelete
  131. I think he is just a really big Cena fan who is weird about any other wrestlers being as popular as him.

    ReplyDelete
  132. The fact that they are keeping this so hush hush is very intriguing.

    ReplyDelete
  133. You know who obviously wasnt the captain of his debate team?

    The answer is KevinLockard

    ReplyDelete
  134. And how exactly does this apply to Bryan?

  136. Wonder if they are throwing out a false story to surprise people and have Bryan enter the Rumble and win.

Since SummerSlam, I have said that D-Bry will win the Rumble and I cant back off of that now.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Me and you have been carrying that torch. Internet high five when it happens!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I want the "Daniel Bryan is being buried contigent" to bow at the alter of OfficerFarva and Brian Bayless.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Uh, no.

That is Dean Malenko for you

    ReplyDelete
  140. I'm the one who's right, so whatever dude.

    ReplyDelete
  141. When he does, I hope Gideon Stargrave is around to eat crow

    ReplyDelete
  142. I remember calling Cena/Bryan happening at Summerslam. So I'm playing the "I called it" hipster right now.

    ReplyDelete
  143. You literally haven't been right about anything you've posted so far. It is actually kind of amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  144. SHUN THE NON-BELIEVER!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  145. Yes, because bland, generic wrestlers often have the crowd going crazy begging for them to turn face. Right.

    ReplyDelete
  146. After Orton cashed in at SummerSlam,, I said that D-Bry will beat Orton at Mania. Guess I will find out soon if I was right or way off

    ReplyDelete
  147. This is the dumbest thing I've ever read on this site. And Jesse Baker posts here

    ReplyDelete
  148. I don't think he's beating Orton, but somebody bigger.

  151. It doesn't; I was just pointing out that your comments about Eddie being an average draw outside of the Latino market doesn't really diminish Eddie at all, because the Latino market is one of the top two single demographics for WWE in terms of sheer dollars.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Go back and watch several Raws if you don't believe me. Just pick a few from around the November or December area.

    ReplyDelete
  153. The first sign you've lost a debate.

    ReplyDelete
  154. I thought the story tied together with him beating Orton, the guy who could never beat D-Bry clean

    ReplyDelete
  155. The midcard feud was my favorite.

Khali vs. Sandow is a midcard feud. Not D-Bry and the Wyatt's

    ReplyDelete
  156. Loved that one. Forget the fact he closed raw 2 of 3 weeks. It was midcard!!!

My favorite was "he's wearing overalls." He's getting buried!!

    ReplyDelete
  157. The only time the crowd hasn't done the YES! chants was when he was with the Wyatts, and that was by design.

Listen, I know it sucks that half the audience hates your favorite wrestler. I should know, I was a Justin Credible fan. But I didn't go around trolling people about how RVD isn't really that popular.

    ReplyDelete
  158. "I watch for good characters and he has a pretty mundane one with no real depth"

Why are you describing Tyson Kidd?

Bryan got screwed by the Authority and joined a heel stable as a result. He is an underdog who the company doesnt want as the face of the company and that is what you call no depth.

    ReplyDelete
  159. The advertisement on USA before last week's RAW was all about D-Bry and the Wyatt's.

    ReplyDelete
  160. It's the same thing I'm thinking about some of you...

I get it, though... someone speaks up about your idiotic vanilla midget hero and speaks the truth (he isn't the next big thing, he isn't gonna replace Cena, he's mostly a fad) and your initial response (especially given the herd mentality here) is to condescend because you've convinced yourself of the exact opposite. It's OK... give it time (probably not even by the end of this year) and you'll see how right I am. But you idiotic smark internet nerds will never learn. So many of you thought Punk was the next big thing and now you think Bryan is. There'll probably be another indy hero in the future who you all will share the same thoughts about and you'll be just as wrong then.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Seriously, we can start a daily "Ask OfficerFarva and Brian Bayless what's going on with wrestlimg" thread. It'll be us educating the blog

    ReplyDelete
  162. I don't think fads last two years.

    ReplyDelete
  163. No, there were at least a few Raws around the end of November or the first of December where the reactions were pretty average. And some other Raws that were definitely louder but quite as loud as they were before earlier in the year and in 2012.

    ReplyDelete
  164. That isn't Bryan at all. He can make an entire crowd do whatever he wants with his promos. You can't name more than 10 people in the history of pro wrestling that could do that.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Seriously, I haven't read all your posts yet. Gimme a quick synopsis of your argument so I can make an educated proper response. half kidding with these. Officerfarva can take some time out of us day for thsi

    ReplyDelete
  166. You are just making shit up. No one is thinking or even asking him to replace Cena. If you knew how to make a compelling argument about why Bryan cant be a main event player, then it would be different but you are as good at debating as ValuJet was at airline safety

    ReplyDelete
  167. you started watching wrestling in 2004. STFU

    ReplyDelete
  168. Jesus Christ, you're paranoid.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Some crowds are louder than others though.

You can still get less of a pop than the night before but get the biggest ovation of the night

    ReplyDelete
  170. Haha. You weigh over 300 lbs. Watch Live threads just so you can down vote every comment and pretend to be parallax 1978 on another message board for some reason. You are terrible at everything

    ReplyDelete
  171. Do airplanes make you buy 2 tix when you fly? 1 seat isn't enough to contain your lard ass? Man I'd give up at life at that point

    ReplyDelete
  172. When you stand up to take a piss can you see your penis or does your fat gut hide the view? That's gotta suck

    ReplyDelete
  173. Bryan is anything but "vanilla".

    ReplyDelete
  174. You claim to be some kind of a hospital worker yet you can post 200+ times in one day and you claim to take pills and drink heavily. You're full of shit and if you started watching in 2004 you're probably only 17 by now.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Gideon Stargrave probably bled to death from cutting himself over Bryan the last few weeks

    ReplyDelete
  176. But who will diagnose people with WWE-Induced Stockholm Syndrome now? How do I know if I am cured?

    ReplyDelete
  177. A lot of anger here.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Do you use cheeze whiz ad salad dressing?

    ReplyDelete
  179. Wow what brilliant wit, thats why it takes you 3 posts to make only 0.5 points. hey how does it feel to be so rejected in a strip club that you have to use your cell phone to look busy?

    ReplyDelete
  180. You live a sad existence. Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  181. You remind me of Dat Phan.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Foley vs Farva is easily the worst feud in BoD history.

    ReplyDelete
  183. I blame both of us.

    ReplyDelete
  184. I do go to strip clubs. I'm 31 and single and have the financial means to go. If my buddies are doing something else I'll pull up the old BoD or texts to pass the time. Yes this is true. The strippers don't have to roll over 4 layers of fat to gimme a good time thom. That's gotta be embarassing

    ReplyDelete
  185. Ok: i'm a bit pissed, ( MY lost love's birthday today) so here is my long drunken ramblings.

If they want a big moment for Daniel, here are the proposed opponents. I will ignore Bray Wyatt, because with the best intentions, that will not get him more over. Also, he needs to win any of these matches:

    Shawn Michaels:

Pros: makes sense with the story. Would be a great match.

Cons: Be a bit of a foregone conclusion. Shawn will get face pops ( Even if he heels it up) hindering any big yes moments. Also, i suspect that if the Wyatts were bryan's original opponents, Shawn has already said no.

    HHH:

Pros: makes sense with the story, Would be very cathartic for the IWC. HHH would love any excuse to be in the main event

Cons: Would leave Punk out in the cold. Match quality being low would hinder any big 'Yes' mark out moment.

    Cena:

Pros: Would be a great match. A definite main event.

Cons: Already happened, and low buy rates for summerslam could make them reluctant to risk it again

    Orton:

Pros: makes sense with the story, Would be very cathartic for the IWC again. Match would be great.

Cons: has happened too many times to be special. Also, as with Cena, would probably not be big enough to headline.

    Undertaker:
Pros: Streak matches are a big deal. Would be a great match, and breaking the streak would be the biggest endorsement to Bryan imaginable.
Cons: As above, face taker pops could hinder any YES moment. Also, commercially, would hinder future wrestlemania streak plans ( specifically, Cena/Taker).

    Brock Lesnar:
Pros: great match. Unique. Perfect underdog story, guaranteeing YES chants when Bryan finally does it.
Cons: Can't really think of any to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  186. While we're at it, let's get rid of jobber123, farva and I.

    ReplyDelete
  187. I don't know who that is.

    ReplyDelete
  188. You people literally haven't proven me wrong about anything lol. I'm just straight up telling you I'm right and the rest of you are wrong, but you're just not bright enough to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  189. Perhaps. You'll but a tix tho

    ReplyDelete
  190. One of the worst stand-up comedians of all-time

He won the first season of "Last Comic Standing" out of pity

    ReplyDelete
  191. Youre THAT addicted to this place (despite being such an awful poster) that you just HAVE to bring it up while youre out with friends. Thats grossly pathetic.

BTW, those times that you did claim you were at a strip club? you made like 100 posts and all of them sucked.

    ReplyDelete
  192. Except for two years now fans have been rabid for Bryan despite everything the WWE has given him: getting fired, losing in 18 seconds, getting left at the alter, anger management, the Wyatts.

The live fans love him and for some reason it drives you crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Lesnar/Bryan is basically a wrestling Version of Rocky.Lesnar is Apollo and Drago at the same time.
