During halftime of the Michigan State vs. Ohio State basketball game, Michigan State brought out their football team to celebrate their upset victory over Stanford in the Rose Bowl. They celebrated by doing the Daniel Bryan "YES" chant.

That's Big Show's chant. They were still excited from last nights return.
ReplyDeleteWhile we're at it, I was at Smackdown tonight, fans were chanting "NO!" during Bryan's segment with the Wyatts.
ReplyDeleteThe football team did the chant in the locker room after winning the Rose Bowl: http://www.uproxx.com/sports/2014/01/watch-michigan-state-spartans-go-full-daniel-bryan-celebrate-rose-bowl-victory/
ReplyDeleteThe CHANT is over.
ReplyDelete90% of those people have no idea who Daniel Bryan is.
Probably true. But hey, Better having your chant be over than nothing be over.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't even his chant. He stole it from Diego Sanchez.
ReplyDeleteI was just about to say something like that.
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteBryan cited the fact that he saw Diego use it. So it's not stealing, it's a source. School taught me that.
ReplyDeleteAny publicity is good publicity. A WWE chant going mainstream eventually makes DBry look good. Well, in the eyes of everyone except Vince, of course.
ReplyDeleteMore like 98%.
ReplyDeleteLet's pretend for a moment that Vince McMahon is neither incompetent nor vindictive. If so, then what would he be trying to accomplish here?
ReplyDeleteRecall that last year, they spent the better part of a year burying the YES chant, Daniel Bryan himself rejecting it vigorously. So, when he finally came around to embracing it again at Wrestlemania, it made it a little more special.
Maybe by cooling things down and distancing Daniel Bryan from the fans for awhile, he thinks that things will be made even more special once they reconnect yet again?
Diego himself is cool with it.

Cool it off to warm it up. I'm not being optimistic (I'm not necessarily pulling for Bryan or anything), but I'd be pretty shocked if he didn't get the Rumble win. Got a wave of momentum? The Orton feud didn't work and actually made things worse? Okay, run with that. People are still behind him. Give them even more reason to be behind him. I think it's the same reason the Cena announcement of Bryan as # 1 contender worked so well - it was set up quite well, but it wasn't the obvious, in your face "this is happening whether you like it or not" pushes we got with Orton (that failed), Luger (that failed) & Del Rio (that failed).
ReplyDeleteLet the fans rally. Let the story be "the office didn't believe in him, but the fans wouldn't be ignored." Since writers leak things to the internet, I'm not sure who Vince actually confides in, but come on - the go-home segment to last month's version of the "biggest match in history" was hijacked for a guy who just had a 3 month long failed bid at the title.
Don't we all kind of think that if Bryan wasn't in the WM main event, the fans would hijack that too (the WM fans especially). Don't forget - the E leaks rumors. Why wouldn't they say "Oh yeah, 45 year old Batista who had questionable work in his heyday and has been inactive for 4 years - yeah, we're just gonna give him the win & throw him in the biggest match of the year because, well ya know, he was only in 1 of those when he had his actual biggest run."
And if that doesn't convince you, we've had (I think) 2 different crowds chant "boring" at Orton. That's fine for a heel during football season, but you don't want to plan what you hope to be a 50 million dollar payday around a guy who multiple markets chant boring at.
if those chanters actually bought ppv that Bryan main evented, they could have helped his mega push.
ReplyDeletewhere was SD tapings last night? instead of lying and bitching about Bryan's push, why didn't you just buy Summerslam and help to convince Vince than Bryan is a draw?
ReplyDeleteThis is the basis of every Hip Hop sampling lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteSmackdown was in Philly.
ReplyDeleteI did buy Summerslam.
