2013 RSPW Awards results

Hey, Scott: the 2013 RSPW Awards are (finally) finished! (It took us a while to root out a couple of schmucks who were vote-spamming and recalculate all totals.)

Sorry, I just wanted to ensure that Bob Backlund finally got his Best Bowtie Slammy after Owen Hart stole it 18 years ago.

  1. I am shocked - SHOCKED - to see that Daniel Bryan won all the favorite categories.

  2. Shift+Del that shit.

    ReplyDelete
  3. So give him a Brood gimmick and call him Sam Hain!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Or what he smells

    ReplyDelete
  5. It'd be fun, but also probably impossible, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think the most notable thing is Cesaro/Zayn getting more first place votes than Cena/Bryan... imagine if that match had more exposure...

  7. Abeyance brought this up, but really, the February show should be No Way Out. Best evidence: look at the show before Wrestlemania X7, the best WM ever. NWO 2001 was an amazing show, with three (3!) four-star or better matches, Stephanie's best match ever, a hot crowd...you need those things to help build to WM.

  8. Me choppy choppy your....pee pee.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Eh, it doesn't matter what the Rock says.

    ReplyDelete
  10. No luck involved. Bouwmeester and Benn knew exactly what they were doing.

US defence was trash, couldn't handle Canada all game. Quick was the only reason it finished 1-0.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hey Blog Otters' didn't get any 'worst of' awards. Naturally it means it should continue.

    ReplyDelete
  12. A 4th rate Kerouac

    ReplyDelete
  13. Didn't Dolph win that match?

    ReplyDelete
  14. When the competition is Cole and King... ?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Maffew to Owen: "You may have two Slammys, but you don't have two RSPW Awards!"

  16. 1. It's not a television/cable network, but it still fits the definition of a network.
    2. WWE already had that control and they've been able to do it with DVD's. How does the network existing or failing prevent that?
    3. Unless you're a shareholder, why should you care? And if you're going to take a "do what's best for the shareholder" approach, then you can't complain about WWE's "no risk, play it safe" policy when it comes to their product.
    4. At the moment, yes it does, but why should that be a reason to want I to fail? Their product is constantly growing and their shows and PPVs are constantly being made available in areas that they previously were not. Should we want PPV's to fail because certain areas of the Middle East currently don't have access to them?
    5. Again, as fans, why should we care? That may sound harsh, but since when do any of us care about contract negotiations? And according to Jim Ross, who handled contract negotiations, everybody other than the tippy top guys won't see a dramatic difference, as midcarders didn't make much off of PPV commission to begin with.

  17. It's it kinda crazy that AJ is even getting on the top 5 lists. Can you think of any other time in history a female wrestler has been considered near the best at anything?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ban this clown, Scott. Defend your country's honoUr.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hold your horses there. Cole can do just fine as a pure PBP guy, but when he tries to tell the story, he gets steamrolled by JBL. King has become the third wheel in this group, barely saying anything. I agree his time is past, but I will actually defend Cole having listened to him every week for months as someone who is genuinely trying to call what he sees. It's not his fault that every time he starts he has to try to get in an argument with a loud-mouthed bully who forgot how to do his job somewhere during his mountain climb.

  20. W. T. F.

My new favorite wrestler!!! Holy cow.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Chyna won a porn award.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I barely remember seeing The Great Khali this year. The kids like the dancing and stuff. He's obviously a few steps from crippled. No reason for the Internet to pile on like that.

    ReplyDelete
  23. How did they not hold off Vince/SCSA until 'Mania anyway? Like shouldn't that have been the biggest blow off match of all time?

    ReplyDelete
  24. For what? It was terr-I mean I heard it was terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Crossover actress, I think. You can easily find her holding the golden dick award in a video where she begs Vince McMahon for her job back. It's harder to find what it was given to her for.

    ReplyDelete
  26. They only have two pages. So the first page has a link to take you to the second page, or the full article, both of which are basically the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I finally just watched it. Best way I can put it...if they'd had 10 more minutes, I'd have it right up there with Cena/Punk, Bryan/Cena and Punk/Lesnar.

Despite the 1-0 tally, it felt like Canada controlled the game start to finish, we never really had too many pepper-the-net chances. Oh well, got to see Dwight Howard, James Harden, Jeremy Lin, and the rest of the Rockets on my work break today, so that wad cool.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I hear Brett Favre might go into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2016. The only holdbacks are if he can fit it into his schedule and if he wants to be inducted.(Sounds ridiculous when you apply it to non-WWE doesn't it?)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh I so disagree with everyone here about zayne. Hes going to be a huge babyface! He's gonna be a big star. He could be a better version of Jeff hardy

    ReplyDelete
  31. All I've seen of him is the 2/3 falls match with Cesaro, but that might be enough for me to draw the same conclusion.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Let him give Health Slater or someone like that his top Turnbuckle brainbustahh and he'll be over for good

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't watch a lot of independent wrestling/ROH but I have seen a bunch of el genrico matches and people lost their shit for him. The only Indy guys I've ever heard of that had his level of buzz were punk and Bryan. He's crazy in the ring and has that "it" factor.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Colt Cabana doesn't have of el genericos talent

    ReplyDelete
  35. He said they need Austin to sell out the damn building. He's talking about raising hell one last time.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I just don't see Batista being pushed to the side that easily

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have no idea what your talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  38. That's about what I pay, I have a bundle with the internet and basic cable (I don't get any of the "fringe" networks, and REALLY wish I still got BBC America, but I get about 90 channels, problem is I refuse to even watch about 60 of them), and all together I pay about $160. Combine that with the fact that I split all our bills (except our respective cell phone bills) down the middle with my brother and I pay about $80 a month. Keep in mind though, our gas and electric are about $90 a month total, or $45 a piece.

  39. I'm sure someone will take it off my hands eventually. Hell, if the VA or Salvation Army wants it they can have it, but I'm not helping them lift it. I'm giving you a really good (albeit antiquated) TV, transportation of it is their problem.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It is, but $10 is vastly cheaper than $40-$60.

    ReplyDelete
  41. DVDVR? As in a site that has been inactive since 2003 or so?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'd gladly pay for the Network, but satellite internet is my only option as well. The monthly cap is unbelievably awful.

    ReplyDelete
  43. You're wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  44. How is DVDVR smarkier? They're far friendlier towards the current WWE product than most IWC message boards.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Top 8 feels much more reminiscent of Buzzfeed than top 5, and that seems to be what they've been aiming for/gratuitously aping lately.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Nobody concusses as beautifully as Cindy Crosby.
