Boom, there you go. Over the Edge 99 will be included. Only things missing appear to be stuff like When Worlds Collide and some of the offbeat out-of-market stuff like the Australia shows.
They've been quiet on what they're doing with TV for the most part. Joey Styles tweeted that ECW TV from 1993-2000 would be on at launch, and they haven't officially reported that anywhere that I've seen, so hopefully other stuff will also be available immediately and they just haven't announced it yet.
I'm a little curious if Mickie's finger lick at Mania 22 is gonna get put back in. I doubt it, but it should, as it was such a perfect little character detail for that particular character.
Do you guys think that the release of the WWE Network will hurt WWE's TV ratings? I bet there are a lot of fans, including myself, that won't bother watching RAW or might only watch some of it because they'll be too busy watching the network.
A Wrestlezone reader in Des Moines, Iowa sent in word that there are still plenty of tickets available for tonight's WWE Smackdown taping at the Wells Fargo Arena. More importantly, a winter storm warning has been issued in the area, leading to schools being closed and people being warned against travelling. With the likely exclusion of John Cena, the recent departure of CM Punk and the weather playing a factor, it will be interesting to see how many people show up to tonight's WWE Smackdown event."

Well, that will fix the problem with the CM Punk and Bryan chants...
On the one hand, that's a fantastic list of shows. I've been buying WWE PPV DVDs cheap lately, but that practice stops NOW.
On the other hand...maybe it's just me, but I would have been fine with Over the Edge 99 not being included at all. You're not watching that show because you're a wrestling fan; you're watching it because you want to see how human beings react when a person suddenly dies in front of them.
Or because it's been near impossible to get a clear feed of the PPV event. I don't want to see Owen die and I hope they cut that, but the rest of the PPV I've only been able to see on blurry YouTube videos.
After thinking about this for a while (and this has nothing to do with the Royal Rumble this year), I'm not getting the Network. Not to brag, but I have an extensive collection that I've owned for a long time, so I honestly have my own network.
Wow, that's pretty insane. I will definitely do everything that I can to get this network ASAP.
I would love to watch some older stuff that I've never seen. I think that I've seen all but a small handful of the WWF stuff, but there's a good chunk of WCW stuff that I've never seen ever, and most of ECW. At least not in their entirety.
This is a really dumb headline/news piece that is speculating about attendance at a show that hasn't happened yet. It's not like only 100 people are going to show up for Smackdown!, although I wish they would for the hilarity of it. I'm not sure why anyone would buy tickets to see RAW or Smackdown! anyway.
honestly, i dont care about any of this stuff b/c i've either seen or have the vast majority of them, (in ppv form no less, with regards to the THV releases)
24/7 already showed a lot of the "OMG!!!" ones like the early starrcades
yes, there will be differences presumably since these are allegedly uncut versions of shows, but really, it's not a must-have based on that
i'm more interested in weekly tv that i never saw, especially the territories, and the real selling point for me is the current ppv's being at a reduced cost
I was surprised to see what a strong roster is packed on that card (16 matches is absurd of course) Also surprised to see Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda & Tamina's dad are all on the show a year removed from Mania I. Plus The Rockers,Wahoo Mcdaniel,Tiger Mask,Harley Race,Rick Martel,Sgt.Slaughter,Scott Hall,Curt Hennig,Larry Zbyszko,Nick Bockwinkel,Stan Hansen,Bruiser Brody,Verne Gagne & The Road Warriors,Freebirds & Fabulous Ones!
it would be so nice if there were actually official nwa house show footage from the 80's like wwf had on the msg network, etc. i think the only footage of nwa houseshows exists in clips their tv shows or for those shows recorded at house shows (worldwide, etc)
I think their Beware of Dog is a mixture of Beware of Dog 1 & 2, since 2 was just a redo of all the matches that wasn't taped during the original because of the arena losing electricity. Fun fact: those of us at the live show got to see the Undertaker v. Goldust have the exact same finish as Undertaker and Yoko at Royal Rumble '94. Yeeeeeeaaaaa....
you dont see anything. iirc, it happens while the graphic for the match is shown (b/c JR finishes with "folks, we've got a problem here), and then they cut to a video package on the blue blazer. when the vid package ends it's a wide shot of the crowd without any footage of the ring, and that alternates with close ups of the announcers' desk
i think they showed it on 24/7, which means i've got a copy somewhere since i would always be like "i'll probably never get around to watching that but i'd still like to have it"
With a tear in his eye, Steve Austin told Bret Hart at In Your House: Final Four that inadvertently helping him win his 4th WWF World Title is the single greatest moment of his career.
The storylines started getting out of control by the summer of '99, so I'm hoping we'll get the follow-up to "Over the Edge," because I couldn't remember anything after that. I looked up the May 31, 1999 Raw (the week after "Raw is Owen") and Vince McMahon defeated...The Undertaker? Just...just look at this:
I don't have the answer, but my guess is yes. I'm hopeful that the only thing edited is licensed music (I wish it wouldn't be, but it would certainly be understandable).
I'm excited about the PPVs, but I'm hoping for the TV shows too, because I like getting the context to the matches too. If there's a time period (say, 2000 WWE) I really want to watch, it'd be awesome to be able to just watch the whole thing (or at least Raw plus PPVs) straight through. Sure, that'd take awhile, but it'd be nice to have that option. One reason I'm really glad ECW's TV will apparently be available immediately.
Maple Leaf Gardens, Boston Garden, and MSG matches, along with Gorilla and Heenan doing their schtick in the studio = my wife Googling divorce lawyers.
Actually, WWF1987...you might be right. I looked at the list of the PPV: http://www.rspwfaq.net/2012/05/rock-star-gary-reviews-over-edge-99.html
On the surface, there's a lot of good wrestling both before and after the accident, and if you're an Attitude Era fan, there's a lot that's important to the story.
But man, it's still going to be weird to watch.
Hey, on a cheerier note, wonder if we still see The Kat naked?
The WWE Network will be available as a native app on your AppleTV, so you won't have to use mirroring from your iPad/iPhone to the TV.
I was kind of hoping the WCW/NJPW Supershows would be available.
What's the deal with the Raw and Smackdown archives? What about SNME and old Clash of the Champions archive? I mean, if I'm the network, I'm holding those things for a September release to keep subscriptions up. I mean, they need to have something beyond another season of Legends House to keep subscribers through the dead season.
The only thing that makes me unsure is that they've actually edited that out at points as opposed to just not releasing it. They could, in theory, release the already edited version. I would assume they won't, but it's not entirely the same.
ESPN ran a bunch of those tapes on ESPN classic. I would like to see that shit in order, too. ESPN aired in whatever fucking order they wanted. Pissed me off. One hour was Waltman v. Jerry Lynn ('91), the next hour was Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw and Booker T.
I could see them doing that. I'm hoping at least some things are just unannounced though...they never really officially announced ECW TV being available at launch until Joey Styles just started tweeting about it suddenly, so maybe there will be more they just haven't confirmed yet.
I remember reading an article from 1999 that the 5/10/99 Raw that got an 8.1 rating had 6 million viewers, which i think would be about a 4.2 rating today.
No. RAW is still the flagship and is going to be the flagship. If people stop watching RAW, then ratings drop. If ratings drop advertising revenue drops. If advertising revenue drops, TV networks lose interest. They still want to be more than an Internet-only company.
I did. But then in the end you have to find some time to watch them. And there were literally like 30 or so of them. I couldn't watch them all. It sounds better than it actually is.
I live in PA and I'm a teacher ... so far I have had six (tomorrow will be SEVEN) missed days due to snow. AND NO NETWORK TO WATCH! Once the network starts, I bet we won't miss any more days due to weather.
What's the very first thing you're going to look for on The WWE Network?
ReplyDeleteGuess I'd have to check out X-Seven to see what is and is not off limits for clippering.
No Beware of Dog 2!
ReplyDeleteDisappointed in the lack of WCW/NJPW PPV from the early 90s
ReplyDeleteAny word on Saturday Night's Main Event? The classic ones, I mean? That's the biggest potential draw for me. Not that all this other stuff won't be.
ReplyDeleteNo complaints. If they decide to add old episodes of PrimeTime I'll never leave my couch.
ReplyDeleteThey've been quiet on what they're doing with TV for the most part. Joey Styles tweeted that ECW TV from 1993-2000 would be on at launch, and they haven't officially reported that anywhere that I've seen, so hopefully other stuff will also be available immediately and they just haven't announced it yet.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to give WWE my money, but I have to.
ReplyDeleteI'd go for some Tuesday Night Titans as well.. and throw in Shotgun Saturday Night and I'll officially be a hermit.
ReplyDeleteThe SNME DVD release a few years ago was pretty good at getting some of the best matches.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna start with WM1 for the historic value and I haven't seen it in a long time..
ReplyDeleteI know the Clashes weren't PPVs, but I hope they'll be available as well at some point.
ReplyDeleteGreat American Bash 91 when I can't sleep.
ReplyDeleteOld ECW.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little curious if Mickie's finger lick at Mania 22 is gonna get put back in. I doubt it, but it should, as it was such a perfect little character detail for that particular character.
ReplyDeleteI've narrowed it down to the first Survivor Series or SummerSlam 95 cause I attended.
ReplyDeleteI too attended SummerSlam '95. Seeing it once was enough.
ReplyDeleteDo you guys think that the release of the WWE Network will hurt WWE's TV ratings? I bet there are a lot of fans, including myself, that won't bother watching RAW or might only watch some of it because they'll be too busy watching the network.
ReplyDeleteOh. My. God. Wwe network is the greatest
ReplyDelete<-----
ReplyDeleteIf you get Owen dying and Benoit you'll get the Mickey lick
ReplyDeleteFirst one for me is Unforgiven 2001. I was there, and I want to relive my up close view of Kronik vs. Taker/Kane in all of its grandeur.
ReplyDelete"Attendance Issues at Smackdown?

Well, that will fix the problem with the chanting...
I think they'd happily trade free TV eyeballs for paid subscription eyeballs. See also: O, Porn

False. If ratings tank, and they aren't getting normal PPV revenue, it's going to get real bad real fast financially.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. I can see this either being REALLY successful or completely falling on its face.
ReplyDeleteStart with Starrcade 83 and work your way up. DON'T SKIP ANYTHING!
ReplyDeleteThey are going to miss Christian vs. Orton XXVIII!!! (even though it'll probably be a good match because those two have crazy chemistry)
ReplyDelete"the first Survivor Series"
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's going to be a problem worth worrying about.
ReplyDeletePlus, if you're watching the network, Vince is making $10 a month off you. Raw is free and statistically, you mean nothing to the rating.
I was thinking the same thing. But rewatching the UK PPVs that I only have on tape and have not, eh, "acquired", may be put in early rotation.
ReplyDeleteWhoops. LOL.
ReplyDeleteCapital Carnage, huh? That's the one where Jacqueline went topless. Wonder how uncut that one will be...
ReplyDeleteOn the one hand, that's a fantastic list of shows. I've been buying WWE PPV DVDs cheap lately, but that practice stops NOW.

ReplyDelete2nd show on the list? Wrestlerock '86
ReplyDeleteI'm being DEAD FUCKING SERIOUS!
I always gotten the impression that it was a mediocre show anyway.
ReplyDeleteMAJOR threadjack:
ReplyDeletewwe sent out a list of all the ppvs that will be available at the networks launch. over the edge '99 is included
ok, now to see what this thread is about that i just threadajcked since it was the top most thread....
Pretty good show, though.
ReplyDeletenot a ppv
ReplyDeleteWow, that's pretty insane. I will definitely do everything that I can to get this network ASAP.

and capital combat is where robocop went topless
ReplyDeleteYou're really on today, huh?
ReplyDeleteI feel I'm going to lose my job, my wife and my dignity over this here network thingy.
ReplyDeleteAre they putting old WCW saturday nights on there? Hell I'll pay for a few months for the old wcw PPV's(prehogan) alone. . .
ReplyDeleteHow deep do you think they will go? Like will old Nitros be on there? Will old awa TV be on there? LET'S SEE HOW IT PLAYS OUT!
ReplyDeleteNICE. Now get me the Crockett Cups and we're talking.
ReplyDeleteWhat?? No No Holds Barred PPV! That will totally leave the amazing blowoff between Hogan and Zeus left to the anals of history.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really dumb headline/news piece that is speculating about attendance at a show that hasn't happened yet. It's not like only 100 people are going to show up for Smackdown!, although I wish they would for the hilarity of it. I'm not sure why anyone would buy tickets to see RAW or Smackdown! anyway.
ReplyDeleteHA! "Anals".
ReplyDeleteThe Time website's header is "Breaking News, Analysis, [etc]" and at work IE cuts the tab off to say "Breaking News, Anal".
ReplyDeleteI always giggle a little bit.
honestly, i dont care about any of this stuff b/c i've either seen or have the vast majority of them, (in ppv form no less, with regards to the THV releases)

I do wonder who owns those old ESPN shows.
ReplyDeleteI can see anal being breaking news.
ReplyDeletei'm usually very much on
ReplyDeleteI have an extensive collection too, but if they have the ECW TV library up I'll get the Network for that alone since I don't own that.
ReplyDeleteSure, but today even more so.
ReplyDeleteThe uncut Crockett Cups would be fun. They butchered those shows on the VHS releases that I own.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see what a strong roster is packed on that card (16 matches is absurd of course) Also surprised to see Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda & Tamina's dad are all on the show a year removed from Mania I. ReplyDeleteYeah, that's worth a watch.
I hear you on that.
ReplyDeleteon the subject of uncensored (not the ppv), will they leave in all the F bombs from the ecw ppv's? the rise and fall of ecw was full of them
ReplyDelete*breaking wind
ReplyDelete...you really wanna see all the craptastic unseeded qualifying matches?
ReplyDeleteI don't get what was so hard about just releasing the show. If it's two tapes, it's two tapes. At worst edit out David Crockett to save seconds.
ReplyDeleteNeither is a few of those early WWF shows like The Big Event and oh yeah Wrestlemania I!
ReplyDeletei didnt go to that show, and i kinda wish i had for the moment with angle winning, his family in, etc
ReplyDeleteone of my friends was there and said he fell asleep during the kronik match
were you at the rumble a couple of weeks ago? can't recall if you were talking about it with a few others of us
Mulkeymania runs wild in this house.
ReplyDeletewere they even filming once the power went out?
ReplyDeleteThat would be Beware Of Dog 1. The WWF Magazine had photos of some of the "Dark Matches" at the show so it's possible the cameras stayed on also.
ReplyDeleteit would be so nice if there were actually official nwa house show footage from the 80's like wwf had on the msg network, etc. i think the only footage of nwa houseshows exists in clips their tv shows or for those shows recorded at house shows (worldwide, etc)

ReplyDeletebut i dont think wrestlerock was even shown closed circuit. the shows you mentioned were national to a degree
ReplyDeleteyou dont see anything. iirc, it happens while the graphic for the match is shown (b/c JR finishes with "folks, we've got a problem here), and then they cut to a video package on the blue blazer. when the vid package ends it's a wide shot of the crowd without any footage of the ring, and that alternates with close ups of the announcers' desk
ReplyDeleteI was not. I live in Columbus now, so I miss out on bigger events in Pittsburgh.
ReplyDeleteAngle winning was cool for sure. It wasn't a bad show at all. It ranks right below WM 23 and right above KOTR '98 in my favoriye live shows list.
Doubtful. I remember a Rhino promo where he was ranting about Jasmine St. Clair sucking him off. I can't imagine that stuff staying in.
ReplyDeleteTamina's dad? Oh yeah, Buck Zumhofe was in AWA at that time. Warning: Henning and Hall are green as grass.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the space/time continuum could handle the awesomeness of 1000 hours of unreleased footage of 84-89 Jim Crockett Promotions house shows.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I'm interested in many of the WCW PPVs but I'm really hoping for the weekly TV shows.
ReplyDeleteAll the TV shows will be on it though too
ReplyDeleteIt was the first time the WWF title changed at an In Your House too.
ReplyDeleteIf Owen Hart dying live on air is in,If Chris Benoit is in, If Jacqueline and Miss Kitty's tits stay in, then everything will be in.
ReplyDeleteAt least at first.
On the VHS they show a few clips of matches happening in the dark but I've never heard of any full versions.
ReplyDeleteI'm not seriously expecting it day one. But l want it in there eventually nevertheless.
ReplyDeletei think they showed it on 24/7, which means i've got a copy somewhere since i would always be like "i'll probably never get around to watching that but i'd still like to have it"
ReplyDeleteYou'll find home video of shows popping up on YouTube from time to time. Sweet, sweet candy.
ReplyDeleteThat goober Larry Matysik had better turn over his St. Louis Wrestling Club tapes he got from Joe Garagiola.
ReplyDeleteWorld Class??
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to see those..
ReplyDeleteWith a tear in his eye, Steve Austin told Bret Hart at In Your House: Final Four that inadvertently helping him win his 4th WWF World Title is the single greatest moment of his career.
ReplyDeleteThe title was vacant there. I mean a champion losing the title.
ReplyDeleteThe storylines started getting out of control by the summer of '99, so I'm hoping we'll get the follow-up to "Over the Edge," because I couldn't remember anything after that. I looked up the May 31, 1999 Raw (the week after "Raw is Owen") and Vince McMahon defeated...The Undertaker? Just...just look at this:
ReplyDeletehttp://prowrestling.wikia.com/wiki/May_31,_1999_Monday_Night_RAW_results
6.3 rating, BTW
ReplyDeleteI heard that too.
ReplyDeleteChuck Norris came out and kicked Jeff Jarrett's ass?
ReplyDeleteFuck Bash'89! This show just shot to the top of my list!
I don't have the answer, but my guess is yes. I'm hopeful that the only thing edited is licensed music (I wish it wouldn't be, but it would certainly be understandable).
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about the PPVs, but I'm hoping for the TV shows too, because I like getting the context to the matches too. Can someone convince Vince to buy Global Wrestling Federation, too? I want to see the Patriot, the Dark Patriot and the Handsome Stranger!
ReplyDeleteI don't think footage of Owen dying ever made it on the air...
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to binge watch these on the weekends. May have to cheat for the stuff I really wanna watch like Bash 89 and Wrestlewar 92
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that makes me unsure is that they've actually edited that out at points as opposed to just not releasing it. They could, in theory, release the already edited version. I would assume they won't, but it's not entirely the same.
ReplyDeleteOwen Hart didn't die on air. He feel during a cutaway to a video package, and footage of the medics working on him never aired during the show.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't, and I'm pretty much a million percent sure if it actually had, that would have been cut from this release.
ReplyDeleteCosign. Vince is gonna break up a lot of happy homes.
ReplyDeleteYes, i know and he didn't actually die until who knows when. Jesus, talk about splitting hairs.
ReplyDeleteListed to part 2 of the Jim Cornette interview from the Steve Austin podcast for a hilarious mulkymaina story.
ReplyDeleteIs that the episode when Cornette details the worst/best rib of all time involving i can't remember who sucking a dick?
ReplyDeleteESPN ran a bunch of those tapes on ESPN classic. I would like to see that shit in order, too. ESPN aired in whatever fucking order they wanted. Pissed me off. One hour was Waltman v. Jerry Lynn ('91), the next hour was Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw and Booker T.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had ESPN Classics sometime, I would have DVRed all of those.
ReplyDeleteThey should be running WCW Satuday nights in order on the live feed AT 6:05.
ReplyDeleteI could see them doing that. I'm hoping at least some things are just unannounced though...they never really officially announced ECW TV being available at launch until Joey Styles just started tweeting about it suddenly, so maybe there will be more they just haven't confirmed yet.
ReplyDeleteThe same as a 4.0 today*
ReplyDelete*Probably not true, but i'm curious what's the total viewers were which is the real number.
I was at SummerSlam 95 too! High five!
ReplyDeleteFirst thing I'm watching is Great American Bash 96 and I'm gonna marathon all the way through to Starrcade 96. Classic nWo yo.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get a mind wipe so I could watch all this shit like it was the first time again.
First show on my list is either No Way Out 2001 or Backlash 2000.
ReplyDeleteCondrey shoved himself into Phil Hickerson.
ReplyDeleteI didn't, I have always been very curious what did become of any footage from the fall.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading an article from 1999 that the 5/10/99 Raw that got an 8.1 rating had 6 million viewers, which i think would be about a 4.2 rating today.
ReplyDeleteTaking odds on when they put up a page of stuff they don't have rights to so people stop asking.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but that's part of the fun of some of the old shows.
ReplyDeleteLocked tight in a vault I would imagine. If that happened today there would be 8000 smart phone videos all over the internet.
ReplyDeleteYou're a liar. No one wants to see the Handsome Stranger.
ReplyDeleteNo. RAW is still the flagship and is going to be the flagship. If people stop watching RAW, then ratings drop. If ratings drop advertising revenue drops. If advertising revenue drops, TV networks lose interest.
ReplyDeleteThey still want to be more than an Internet-only company.
I did. But then in the end you have to find some time to watch them. And there were literally like 30 or so of them. I couldn't watch them all. It sounds better than it actually is.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they'd have to get permission from NJPW.
ReplyDeleteI'm taking the next day off.
ReplyDeleteI live in PA and I'm a teacher ... so far I have had six (tomorrow will be SEVEN) missed days due to snow. AND NO NETWORK TO WATCH! Once the network starts, I bet we won't miss any more days due to weather.
Dat Malenko DDT.
ReplyDeleteThe Big Event is on there?
ReplyDeleteSeriously that's a name they should use again. And WRESTLEFEST.
There were cameras. Some of the matches have been released on DVD.
ReplyDeletedunno who would really watch a Rhino promo and catch all that.
ReplyDeleteI loved the guy's matches, but I tuned away the second he opened his mouth.
I want to relive Barry "The Winner" Horowitz winning a match and then dedicating the victory to all the "Little Winners" who supported him.
ReplyDeleteProbably destroyed a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteI just want the tournament from Rio for the IC title!
ReplyDeleteNot that I was wavering before, but... SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
ReplyDeleteI want to see the King of the Ring Punk won that was held there.
ReplyDeleteF bombs were bleeped on 24/7, so I'd imagine they will be for the network too.
ReplyDeleteTits won't stay in, they will be blurred.
ReplyDeleteENTERTAINMENTFEST
ReplyDeleteWasn't that the godawful 'this is your life, Rock' show?
ReplyDeleteI believe Kevin Kelly said on the PTB Podcast that the Owen footage and Droz getting paralyzed is locked up, never to be seen.
ReplyDeleteHis profanity-filled ECW promos were always hilarious to me.
ReplyDeleteI could hook you up with a crude lobotomy if you want.
ReplyDeleteNo, that was in September
ReplyDeleteNo thanks, I already watched this week's Raw.
ReplyDeleteHa, he messed up the dates, just like the real segment.
ReplyDeleteI think I just crapped my pants a little.
ReplyDelete
