Another Star Rumored to be Leaving the WWE When Their Contract Expires?

Potential Roles for Stacy Keibler at WrestleMania?

As of right now, two ideas are being floated around for Stacy. The first is for her to be inducted into the "WWE Hall of Fame" while the second is for her to act as the backstage interviewer.

Two Wrestlers Become Irate During TNA's Tour of the United Kingdom

Kurt Angle blew up at John Gaburik when after his angle was filmed that wrote him off of TV for a while, he was asked to do a run-in for the next taped show. Angle was mad that he had to do this after it was filmed that he was leaving and also worked the show while extremely banged up. Also, Eric Young blew up at Gaburik when he was told that he was lying on the mat for too long after he lost a match because they had to get the next match out for the taping and he was taking too much time.

  1. HOF or interviews? Stacy should just be seen and not heard. And seen again.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Something tells me fans won't be chanting for ADR when he leaves.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Thank you Triple H for missed opportunities with the Raw rating. This is what happens when you wait too long, I'm sure Punk walking out hurt the rating quite a bit as well, but yea had they at least sent Bryan on the talkshow circuit when he was obviously as over as he was they could of added viewers but oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  4. They'll be too busy crying when they realize they'll never hear someone being called perro every two weeks on Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Good to see the WWE roll out a fresh main event for next week's Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I can honestly say I wouldn't miss Del Rio which is weird because I don't hate him per session I've just never got into him as a character. In the ring he is sound enough but I don't know he doesn't seem to have had that career defining feud to really put him on the top level of talent. And it's not like he hasn't feuded with some top guys.

    ReplyDelete
  7. 1. Ok

    2. How fresh. Anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation!

    3. Interesting case because I think that he's pretty good, but he's never really clicked. Probably for the best all around.

    4. Sweet, hottest Diva ever.

    5. It sounds like TNA is a stressful place to be.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It's not a PPV, so it's no big deal really.

I still see this Orton/Cena feud as "It hasn't been done in 4 years, so lots of new fans have never seen it." So I have no problem at all with this string of matches, as long as it's over by WM.

    ReplyDelete
  9. ADR has the uncanny ability to instantly make me not care about what's happening on screen.

    ReplyDelete
  10. 1) I know the third hour is usually the lowest rated of the three but I wonder who gets the blame for it?

    2) Orton has to face all of his Elimination Chamber opponents one on one leading into the PPV but I would have thought that they'd save Cena until towards the end seeing as that they just wrestled two weeks ago.

    3) This is like the third or fourth time this I've read this story over the past year. If I were Del Rio, I'd probably walk to, they've completely decimated his character. He went from having a manservant personal ring announcer who arrived in a different flashy car every week to generic though guy #9. I could see him pursuing acting, he would make a pretty good action movie villain.

    4) Blah. Who the fuck cares? What are her accolades? What can they attribute to her aside from "Participating in a bra and panties, paddle on a pole match".

    5) FWIW it's worth Kurt took to Twitter and denied the altercation. If the one with EY is true though, that's just stupid. John Gaburik sounds like an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Were Jobber matches always so short? I remember them being pretty short back in the '90s, but these 1 & 2-minute matches seem EXCEPTIONALLY quick, even by the standards of one-sided nothing bouts.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I still don't understand the reasoning for ANY backlash against Stacy coming back. Maybe I'm just a fan of super long legs, but... ZERO DOWNSIDE!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I haven't seen any backlash.

Indifference with a touch of sexism perhaps, but nothing else.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I can't decide why Del Rio didn't fly with the fans. Was it him or the programs & gimmick he was given. I actually like the gimmick, and I dig Del Rio. But something just never clicked. I read he was very popular in Mexico while under a mask. Maybe they should have explored that at some point, plus show old footage from him as a stud in Mexico. Idk, he was just always booked pretty weak. From Dibiase to JBL, the gimmick has proven to work.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I've seen a ton of it on here in previous threads, And I just don't get it! Like they're acting all bitter about her leaving before and she's not that big of a deal. I don't understand the bitterness at all.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think the key is that he was always booked as a "Jobber to the superstars". He always beat all the jobbers and mid-carders, but he loses pretty much every big match against the top guys (Edge, Christian, Sheamus, Cena, Orton, Punk, Soon to be Batista...) So I guess it's hard to get behind him as a serious threat. It's a good role, it just won't set the world on fire.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I think the problem is that we all know that most of the wrestlers are rich? Hell, I have to assume that Zack Ryder makes quite a bit more money than I do. So a rich guy gimmick is silly and not really worthy of the uppercard. Maybe I'm wrong.

Also, I wasn't a huge fan of JBL's rich guy work.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I wouldn't have a problem with her in a backstage interviewer role (other than that it would probably cut into Renee Young's time and I adore her). Hall of Fame induction though? No way. She never even one the title. Her greatest accomplishments include getting powerbombed through a table, giving Vince a table dance and managing Scott Steiner.

    ReplyDelete
  19. But since when do they give HOF spots based on wrestling merits? She's a semi-mainstream name, and has a history with them, and it might turn the heads of a few casual fans. So I can totally see it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Its sexist if you dont care that Stacy keibler is returning to the wwe? Lol ok

    ReplyDelete
  21. And what, saying oh boy she has long legs and is hot, makes you a feminist?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Have Stacy host a "red carpet" type thing on the preshow. Bring in a bunch of Legends and the typical C list celebrities and make a scene out of it.

Or, just turn Smackdown into her show. Each week, she bends over the ropes for 2 hours. It might boost the ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  23. No ones bitter. Shes a lame d list celebrity. The point is who cares?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Who is john gaburik?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think I lost interest in him after his 20th promo about his destiny. I actually dug his short term as a face, because it seemed like the only time during his entire run with the company that he did ANYTHING different.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love the idea of her returning, but I do resent the notion that they want to add her to the Hall of Fame class to give this year some legitimacy....in a class that includes Jake Roberts and Ultimate Warrior.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Those are all good points. I guess it's smark rage on my part. There's numerous ladies who, theoretically, should go in ahead of her. To me it would come off as a half-assed attempt to get some mainstream publicity. Who would really pick that story up aside from TMZ or E! ?

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1. Eh. Raw's total viewship has been pretty consistent for awhile, so a 3.1 isn't that big of deal. The bigger problem is that Raw keeps shedding viewers every hour and has done so for a long, long time.
    2. Yeah, that wont' get boo'd out of the building. Seriously, why not end Raw differently? Like have Luke Harper vs. Seth Rollins to end the show with the Shield and Wyatts getting into a huge brawl to close Raw out. It would be new, showcase some young talent, and be DIFFERENT.
    3. I don't hate Del Rio, but his character has lost all motivation (as has the wrestler himself). He's supposedly rich right? Why not hire someone to beat up Batista? Or is that one of those PG Era rules they can't do anymore.
    4. Stacey can come to my house if the WWE can't find something for her to do.
    5. Don't care.

    ReplyDelete
  29. At the go home show for Money in The Bank 2011, Del Rio came out and beat the shit out of everyone with a ladder. The crowd immediately anointed him as awesome and started chanting for him.

They had something there, for a brief moment, but they threw it all away at the PPV itself by having Punk make him look like a bitch.

    ReplyDelete
  30. He was the VP of TV Production for WWE at some point which means he has to be really good in TNA's eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  31. He was getting over as a face last year until WWE ended it for no reason.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Cena vs. Orton. Again. I don't care if it is only for TV, what a bunch of dumbass stubborn baby bitches. They really think the crowd will change from town to town, that the shit this match got at the Rumble was just a fluke. Amazing how Vince was willing to take risks when there was major competition at stake, but now that there's none he's paralyzed to ever change anything. Don't worry Vinny, if these crowds keep up, we'll do it for you.

    ReplyDelete
  33. My kind of feminism right there.

    ReplyDelete
  34. RAW: Calling "Batista Draws Ratings" fans, calling "BDR" fans... please report to the cafeteria for your servings of crow.
RAW 2: Anaheim: Home to the DEADEST Wrestlemania crowds ever. Vince chose wisely, it seems. (Although this could also be an open challenge to Anaheim...)
Del Rio: Well, no real controversy here, as 1: Few people give a shit about him anyway, and 2: He's not walking out "early", apparently.
Keibler: You'd think they'd want her in the Snooki/Maria M "Celeb Match" role... okay, I just want to see AJ putting her in the Black Widow. ;)
TNA: Gaburik has GREAT people skills, it seems. Oh, and his logic sucks also.

    ReplyDelete
  35. And yes, I know Staples isn't in Anaheim, but it's close enough.

    ReplyDelete
  36. One of the "heads" in TNA Creative at the moment, apparently. Although, in reality, it wouldn't surprise me to hear that Dixie's running it herself, with people like Gaborik just following her mandates. (Like Vince with his writers. Yep, another case of TNA wanting to be WWE, and failing. If that's the case.)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would bet that wwe has more things to worry about than to focus on slight fluctuations in raws rating week to week.

    ReplyDelete
  38. "I thought it vanished in a puff of smoke when Fan Fiction Friday left."

    Fixed that for ya.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Have you not been paying attention for the last, oh, 8 years or...ah forget it, 8 years ago you were probably, well, 8.

    ReplyDelete
  40. That's like saying Madison Square Garden is the same as the Nassau Coliseum.

    ReplyDelete
  41. What a cogent argument!

    ReplyDelete
  42. It won't get anywhere near the same reaction.

    ReplyDelete
  43. No. Anaheim isn't on an island. VINTAGE DOUGIE

    ReplyDelete
  44. Good for ADR though. His contract was like 700K a year. If he saved well, I'm sure he has a nice little nest egg built up.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Proper usage of the word "cogent"! 2 points!

  46. Porn-Peddling Jef VinsonFebruary 5, 2014 at 7:19 AM

...oooh, I wanna do the numbered list thingy:
1.) Dave wasn't going to move the needle.
    2.) Don't care
3.) We're seeing more wrestler that have saved their money and can walk away into other ventures.
4.) TNA needs to stop hiring dudes that don't understand wrestling. It's called SELLING.
    5.) Don't care.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yeah, it will. Similar, at least.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Proper usage of the word usage! 3 points!

  49. Haha, I got more points, I win!

  50. Porn-Peddling Jef VinsonFebruary 5, 2014 at 7:23 AM

    ...happy now?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Fuck it, I'll play along. According to Google Maps:

    MSG to Nassau: 27.2 miles.
    Anaheim to Staples: 27.4 miles...

(bows) I don't care if that was accidental or not... that gets an upvote.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I might be when I hit refresh. We shall see... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  53. The game's not over yet.

    ReplyDelete
  54. They will not chant Daniel Bryan through the entire match.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yeah it is. Sorry dude, you lost. Alright now...where's that YankeeHoganFanDoucheyGuy? As new champion of the blog I would like to graciously offer him a chance to invoke his rematch clause.

    ReplyDelete
  56. ... Not a Stacy fan, I take it. Okay, I can do your job this once:

  57. You're right. But they didn't do just that at the Rumble either, so you're also wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Porn-Peddling Jef VinsonFebruary 5, 2014 at 7:28 AM

I felt she was a tad overrated. She was an OK Diva, but I never saw what the fuss was about.

    ReplyDelete
  59. If you don't care, you're indifferent.

Saying she's hot isn't sexist I also believe she is hot and wouldn't mind exploring every supple inch of those legs. That doesn't make me sexist. But there is a touch of sexism inherent to the wrestling world. Not everywhere and way less on this site than other wrestling sites, but lets not pretend that it doesn't exist.

What's wrong with being a feminist?

    ReplyDelete
  60. For all we talk about how WWE has built a culture around wrestlers who have been "indoctrinated" to think WWE is the only game in town and they have to toe the company line, Del Rio is an oddity. He's been quite open about saying that he could head back to Mexico at any time and immediately step back in as a top star down there, so he always had an ace up his sleeve. I wonder if that didn't play a role in how he was booked, as Vince didn't want to fully push a guy who didn't need WWE to succeed in pro wrestling.

I agree with the comment that Del Rio's gimmick has been whittled away into nothing. The car entrance, the modern Dibiase persona, Ricardo's introductions....these were all things that made the guy stand out, and when you combine that with his in-ring ability and his strong personality, the sky was the limit. Shame on WWE for booking this guy so indifferently, even when he was holding titles.

It seemed like had something with ADR when he turned face, since I thought he played that role extremely well and he had a bit of momentum behind him. Again, here's where the creative team failed, since you've got the WWE's long caught-after Mexican top face holding the world title and with the fans behind him....so then he's booked against freakin' Jack Swagger at Wrestlemania. Come on.

    ReplyDelete
  61. This isn't an AJ thread, so please remove any references to sexism or white knighting, okay?

    ;)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Except the crowds for Summerslam have been good at Staples Center, as was the Wrestlemania 21 crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Objectifying her is more sexist than not wanting/caring to see a d list celeb on a pro wrestling show.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Can't wait for Cesaro/Orton. They better not put that shit on Smackdown.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yeah, the Swagger feud totally killed his WHC face run. I think the idea was that Del Rio was over enough where it would elevate Swagger to a higher level, but it had the opposite effect and looked like a match for the mid card title. They would have been better off running Del Rio/Swagger at the Rumble, then doing the Big Show feud and Last Man Standing match at Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'm the biggest adr fan on the blog. They booked him the best they could. Until recently he always had a belt and/or an angle. Wwe creative just sucks and adr couldn't quite connect with the fans, partially due to SOP backlash. I'll miss the guy.

    ReplyDelete
  67. There are many options:

John Cena as corporate Heel need not change a thing. ;-)
    Antonio Cesaro
    Wade Barrett
    Ryback
    as said Dean Ambrose

Sheamus I don't know. He is as boring as Del Rio. Maybe he needs a different gimmick. He has the same look since he debuted.

    ReplyDelete
  68. You're right, Wade Barrett and the Nexus doesn't draw.
Oh wait, just like Daniel Bryan, he was given one Summerslam Main Event. Then, like always, McMahon panicked and booked Barrett as a loser.
They had an entire generation of heels that could've been built for years. Instead, they were booked like jobbers. Fucking shame.

    ReplyDelete
  69. "Big John" from the original Tough Enough.

    ReplyDelete
  70. This. At the end of 2010 Barrett was nearly on the same Level as Cena and Orton. And then? Nothing. He could have had a match against the Undertaker at WM, just like Orton in 2005) instead of Triple H.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Stranger in the AlpsFebruary 5, 2014 at 8:02 AM

    Nothing wrong with Smackdown.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Good ol Jr just got a nice burn off on the wwe on his blog. He basically said Betty White should be great on raw because creative is better suited/ more interested in writing stuff for her than a wrestler.

    ReplyDelete

Holy shit. ROH getting major love on the website.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hey now! We were red hot for summerslam last year and we refused to play along with hhh after the 2012 brock match. Also staples is downtown LA. Anaheim is garbage though. I agree with that. But staples center crowds rule. I'm thinking about driving up for the show if I can get good tickets

    ReplyDelete
  76. It can take about 90 minutes to drive that 30 miles at times though fwiw

    ReplyDelete
  77. ADR better learn that if you are a foreigner or a minority in the WWE, they have no idea what to do with you unless it's a stereotype.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm gonna chant for dougie the whole time

    ReplyDelete
  79. It is all I will get to watch this week!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I wonder what Zeb Colter thinks about ADR wanting to leave.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Ummmm....let's see...she's completely out of all spotlight and has pretty much been that way since George kicked her to the curb over a year ago.....Stephanie is after her, Keibler has an agent, she's gonna get ridiculous money for being a rat and doing something Renee Young can do much better. Money that's not going to one of the guys carrying the company the last few years......I completely understand the backlash.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I'm not sure what the deal is with ADR. He has a good look and can go in the ring, but he is an absolute zero for me. I feel like I should like him at least a little, but I just don't.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Was just about to post this. Never thought I'd see the day when Gabe had was on anything WWE related. I chuckled when he referred to RF VIdeo as "a video company".

    ReplyDelete
  85. Why are you complaining about this now? Were you complaining about it on Monday when they actually announced he'd be facing everyone in the Chamber?

    ReplyDelete
  86. You described good backstage backlash.... But none of that money would have been going to the fans... One of my favorite divas from the Attitude/Ruthless Agression era is coming back, I still find her incredibly hot, I'm happy she's coming back. Don't care if she charged 18 billion, it's not my money.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Also liked how he got a plug in for Evolve and Dragon Gate. Kinda funny seeing Punk mentioned so much and pictures of him. I guess there was no way around it.

I thought the most surprising thing was how much Christopher Daniels was put over.

    ReplyDelete
  88. You won't be the only one.

    ReplyDelete
  89. It would "boost my ratings".

    ReplyDelete
  90. Pretty much, just not here. Stick that match on Smackdown where you can edit out the crowd, or find a way around it. I don't know if you noticed the past 30 years or so, but not everything that gets announced stays the same.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I'm not saying they booked ADR perfectly, but they gave him a LOT. Vignettes, fancy cats, personal ring announcer, Rumble win, multiple title reigns, lots of high profile feuds, etc. Definitely more than what most guys get. His lack of overness is on him, IMO. I didn't hate the guy, but like most I just didn't feel any connection with him.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Sadly, my real name is also Doug. Sorry to get your hopes up.

    ReplyDelete
  93. If you ever wanted proof Vince doesn't read the website...

    ReplyDelete
  94. I agree. Something about him just feels bland as hell. I don't know what it is, but I can't shake it.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Intriguing.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Only ADR feud I remember is the Mysterio one. Every other one was just him defending the World Heavyweight title against random dudes. Most guys would get stuck in a rut with that.

    ReplyDelete
  97. But they will, and plop another Orton-Sheamus tilt on RAW. Yay.

    ReplyDelete
  98. It seemed like they may have had something with the face turn, but the Swagger feud killed it since I'm pretty sure like 50% of the audience agreed with Zeb's rantings.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Vince probably thinks Ring of Honor is some sort of swing joint for VIPs.

    ReplyDelete
  100. This'll stay the same because it's basically Orton revisiting all of his old feuds, except Cesaro is new.

    It's a good through line.

    ReplyDelete
  101. His face turn was pretty good but then they turned him into Mexican John Cena and the Swagger feud was the final nail.

And then things got interesting AGAIN with the Ziggler double turn but that went nowhere for both of them.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Quick Styles! Upload Benoit vs HHH vs HBK!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Unfortunately, wrestling is becoming like the salary capped major sports in that we now have to worry about what our owner spends to ensure the product on the field/court/In the ring is top notch. There's only so much money that can go around.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Agreed.

I never said not wanting to see her makes anyone sexist.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I remember someone (maybe Scott) saying that ADR's strengths in Mexico were his high flying crowd pleaser moves, but as a heel he couldn't rely on those, and his personality never lent itself to him being a face.

    ReplyDelete
  106. The Code of Honor is never cross swords.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Something wwe doesn't do well is promote their tv matches ahead of time. Cena/Orton has been been a ppv match the last 3 months and it's still your biggest star wrestling on free tv. Why not just advertise 1 "big" match on Raw a week out? It won't initially move the needle but if they continued to do it, it'll eventually give some of their tv matches a "big time" feel. There is no downside to that. Guess when you rewrite shows ten times it makes it tough to plan a week in advance

    ReplyDelete
  108. I like ADR. I agree the character has never truly clicked. I'd say it's because the feuds were all pretty lame and cookie cutter; virtually nothing memorable. I think his face run had potential, but he ran into Ziggler when the Dolph Train was in full effect.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I know this isn't part of today's news, but the Raw recap is already way down the page:

I realized why I'm really interested in the Shield/Wyatt match: For the first time in a while, no one is being booked as the chickenshit heel running from a fight. Both sides have made it clear they aren't afraid of the other group and they want the match. I also find it a bit ironic that they needed a heel/heel match to book heels to look strong.

I know this match is just being used as a conduit for the official Reigns face turn, but hopefully they let them go all out with this one.

    ReplyDelete
  110. they got RVD to speak candidly about Marijuana use?

    ReplyDelete
  111. I wonder if he'll put it in one of his WWN updates and include something like "Dragon Gate, Evolve and WWE?" in the subject?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Supporting the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men makes one a feminist.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't really have any problems with Orton as a top heel. He does a solid job playing the role and he's capable of going out and putting on solid to great matches with regularity...the problem is that the writing fucking sucks.

    ReplyDelete

No, Vince confuses it for this awesome sex toy he used once, the Cockring of Honor.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Its not the same... besides I don't want to get all excited about being able to be on a wrestling message board with a bunch of dudes I don't know and get stuck spending the evening with a hot young college girl again!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Caliber_Winfield_ESQFebruary 5, 2014 at 8:46 AM

Honestly, I just thought he was inanely bland. He didn't have much charisma, and his character has been seen everywhere from The Million Dollar Man, to JBL, to VK Wallstreet!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Well, they did announce this week - apparently no one was watching Raw anyway - that Orton would face ALL of his Chamber opponents before the PPV. He's done Bryan, Christian on Friday, Cena on Monday, then he just has the Europeans for the next few shows.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Caliber_Winfield_ESQFebruary 5, 2014 at 8:50 AM

John Cena could wrestle Orton in my living room and I'd honestly be hard pressed to find the motivation to watch.

Although that would be pretty cool. Cena & I could do old school workouts like Youngblood & Steamboat did, while Orton tells me which deckstainer works best as a self-tanner.

    ReplyDelete
  120. At this point I'd have ADR join the Real Americans. Just challenge Dutch to write up a good reason he'd do it.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Anywhere between 90-seconds to 3-minutes seems about right for squashes, depending on who the worker is. I remember watching batches of episodes of Superstars and Challenge from the early 90's, and was amazed how much Mr. Perfect could fit into less than 2-minutes, while a guy like Warlord slogged through at a snails pace and usually took longer than anyone else.

What do you think is the amount of time before they induct the HOF into the HOF?

    ReplyDelete
  124. Why does ADR want to leave? He never jobs, is pushed to the sky, gets long runs with the belt despite being over. I'm sure he makes shit tons of money. Perfect spot on a roster for any wrestler.

    ReplyDelete
  125. It'll go in next year with Tout, XFL, WWE App, and the WWE Network announcement.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I guess some wrestlers are just huge marks for themselves, and anything below the Absolute #1 spot is simply unacceptable for a person of their god like talents. (This also applies to people with tattoos of Pepsi logos.)

    ReplyDelete
  127. "a touch of sexism [...]"

you're kidding, right? would you also say wrestling is "a little bit xenophobic"?

    ReplyDelete
  128. I wouldn't be surprised if the same holds true in the MSG-Nassau example either.

    ReplyDelete
  129. If Del Rio leaves, I think it'll be no sweat off anyone's back.

LOL. In college, I used to ditch my male friends all the time for a chick. "Bro's before hoes" didn't play well with me.

The allure of a top-notch feud with Ken Anderson is just too much for some to resist.

  133. Hey guys, remember this one:
    And your next TNA champion...

    ReplyDelete
  134. No direction for his character, the backstage environement who seemed to be a little toxic right know, the possibility for him to go back to mexico and wrestle there as a top star ... why not ?

    ReplyDelete
  135. I am well beyond my college years, thus adding to the appeal... I still hate you though.

So...no one would have a wet back over it?

    ReplyDelete
  137. That one little "oral history" section has some OUTSTANDING stuff in it. It's part of the good that WWE can bring... now if they'd only bring the good more often in other areas.

    ReplyDelete
  138. ADR's too big for TNA. And probably too expensive.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Stranger in the AlpsFebruary 5, 2014 at 9:07 AM

I'm OK with that. I feed off it. Whatever the hell that means.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Alberto Del Rio? Good riddance.

    ReplyDelete
  141. It's too bad he's leaving before they could have him lose his money and ride to the ring on a donkey.

    ReplyDelete

Ah, dude. The horn? That's pretty harsh.

    ReplyDelete
  145. How about one of those pillow fight matches between Stacy and Renee?

    ReplyDelete
  146. I think Scott brought this point up in regards to JBL or little Dibiase but having a lot of money really doesn't matter if they don't use it to their advantage.

    ReplyDelete
  147. They've already inducted Moolah, Mae, Richter and Trish, how many other women are legit worthy of HoF induction? Lita? If they want to include a women in the proceedings, Stacy is as good a choice as any.

    ReplyDelete
  148. ADR = Latin No Heat

    ReplyDelete
  149. But is it a one shot deal?

    ReplyDelete
  150. WBF w/ ICO-PRO sponsoring the hall of fame.

    ReplyDelete
  151. You don't put Cena-Orton on Smackdown!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Agreed. He was losing to those guys but he was legit. If he'd had rebounded off those losses with other upper midcard feuds, he'd be fine today.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Didn't his face turn just come out of nowhere at random? Then the whole "I'm from Mexico, but I love America" seemed so forced.

I use to stay with my friends in a town about 300 miles from where I lived, as most of them went to Washington State University.

One night, the last night might I add, we were drinking SoCo. Well, it's one of those nights where you end up with the bottle pretty much to yourself, yet you think you've been sharing. So, near the end of the night there's about 4-5 shots left in the 5th, and I ask the room "Who wants some?" to which one friend responds with "Why are you being a bitch? Chug it!". I was already very drunk, but like a man, I'm not about to back down from a very stupid challenge. So, I chug it.

The joke was my friend, as later that night, I'm passed out on the sofa, with him sitting on the one next to me. From reports, he said I woke up, pushed myself up in push-up form, and vomitted what he said was the longest stream he's ever seen. The sofa was already abnormally high, and with me pushing myself up, my head was a good 3 feet from the ground. He said there was so much puke that it hit the ground while still coming out of my mouth. I then immediately passed out while he cleaned it up.

I haven't been able to touch SoCo since, which is a bummer, because I loved the stuff.

  155. Depending on traffic through Queens, it could be much more than 90 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I guess if we're doing it based on merit, Lita, Beth Phoenix and Victoria are 3 that come to mind.

    ReplyDelete
  157. That requires planning and effort. Why bother when you can slap together the same old shit and draw 90 percent of the rating?

    ReplyDelete
  158. Caliber_Winfield_ESQFebruary 5, 2014 at 9:25 AM

You guys ever watch the WBF footage? I've seen pretty much all of it, and even has a massive fan of bodybuilding, I couldn't endorse it. The whole gimmick ordeal was so stupid. Nobody wants to see a bodybuilder come out and fire a fake machine gun at approaching ninjas.

    ReplyDelete
  159. But his return did draw ratings. I mean, that's a fact.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I want to see a six person sequence in that match. Like Seth goes flying over the top rope and Eric catches him for a midair power bomb. Then Eric turns around only to get speared by Reigns into the barricade. Reigns then gets up turns around and gets a boot to the face by Harper. Harper tries to get in the ring, but is cut off by Ambrose, who then turns around only to be attacked by Bray.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Yeah, but you're looking at about a month's period of time in comparison to his entire tenure with the company. Just before the Sin Cara/Kingston stuff, he was feuding with John Cena over the World Heavyweight Championship.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Pretty good article on WWE,com about ROH http://www.wwe.com/inside/the-ring-of-honor-influence-26179913

    ReplyDelete
  163. Yeah, it was I believe 3MB making fun of the Spanish commentators, so ADR came out to make the save.

  164. Porn-Peddling Jef VinsonFebruary 5, 2014 at 9:30 AM

ADR + JBL + Ted DiBiase Jr.(or some other rich schmuck)

    ReplyDelete
  165. What character does have direction? If you eliminate all backstage news and rumors about potential WrestleMania matches, would you say you could see where each character is going for WrestleMania? Outside of Batista/Orton and Cena/Wyatt, what else has been built up? Again, based purely on what we see on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  166. But that didn't count. but now that the rating is lower, it does matter because it applies to their argument.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Porn-Peddling Jef VinsonFebruary 5, 2014 at 9:31 AM

Where the hell have YOU been?

    ReplyDelete
  168. All footage I saw 20 some years ago is all but ruined by that Vince gif. http://i.imgur.com/GZUKvFD.gif

    ReplyDelete
  169. John Gaburick. WHO THE FUCK IS THIS GUY? Outside of his involvement with the original Tough Enough and recently being signed by TNA, I've never heard his name associated with any other aspect of wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  170. lol, even when watching that Tough Enough season, I was always asking myself "Who is that guy and why should anyone care what he thinks?"

    ReplyDelete
  171. Alternate argument: His hyped return did draw ratings. After his initial douchey appearance that night, his boo-ey Royal Rumble win, and his subsequent appearances, people don't care.

    ReplyDelete
  172. It's crazy. Barrett was so over as a heel in 2010 that the crowd chanted NEVER GIVE UP at Cena! Seriously, at the height of Cena-hate, 80-90% of the crowd was behind him. I haven't seen a heel get the crowd that behind Cena since.

They really shit the bed with Wade Barrett, and I don't even know why. Was it more of that nebulous "paying dues" bullshit? Because if so, they pissed away an A-class heel they could still be running on top right now.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I'll be chanting "John Sorrow"

    ReplyDelete
  174. I can't disagree that his return isn't going well. He really does need to turn heel before WM. He actually hasn't done anything that "Babyfacey" since his return, so it could actually be easily executed.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Wrestling could definitely use more Xena IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I personally love the feud. Both teams have been pushed so consistently and effectively since their debut that it's tough to predict who will actually come out on top (easy money is on the Wyatts, since they're building a Shield split and Bray needs to look strong for his feud with Cena). And I like how each side is reacting to the other side's MO.

    ReplyDelete
  177. From PWInsider:

"While it may appear they are going in the direction of Kane vs. Daniel Bryan after this week's TV shows, the source didn't expect Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan to be changed. Regarding that match, nobody within WWE expects Bryan to go over"

    Jesus.

  178. Del-berto Rio

  179. Ambrose's "Ooooohhhh soooo scarrry" bit on the tron has been the highlight for me thus far.

    ReplyDelete
  180. I would say that the Blog of Doom tends to be much better than most of the wrestling sites I'm aware of.

Yes, wrestling has large problems, but for example, the xenophobia? Almost all of the B.o.D. gets upset when "creative" falls back on the stereotypical protrayal of a certain culture.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Actually, he was always listed as John 'Big' Gaburick. I remember because it always struck as insanely stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Caliber_Winfield_ESQFebruary 5, 2014 at 9:41 AM

Haha, honestly, that gif isn't far off about how Vince felt about Gary Strydom. He was the top paid guy and won both of the WBF championships. Vince wanted him to be their Arnold, and while he had the body, he just wasn't much of a personality.

    ReplyDelete
  183. what? I mean, I at least get the reaction to Punk, but if Del Rio wants to leave, why is he "a mark for himself" if he isn't enjoying it? Plenty of people leave jobs for reasons other than money.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Blog explodes in 3..2...

    ReplyDelete
  185. But if Cena would have done that "ooohhh sooo scary" thing, people would have lost their minds and said that Cena buried the Wyatts by no-selling the threat. That is the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  186. It drew in twice the viewers than normal, how doesn't it count?

    ReplyDelete
  187. It's the everyday problem when both A) you're Superman, and B) always overcoming the odds.

I'd stop by here once every two months or so, and when I saw the BoD Rumble, I really enjoyed it, and saw the place had some decent guys around, so I thought I'd hang around a few threads here and there.

    ReplyDelete
  189. Oh there is definitely a small part of me that will be rooting for HHH... Just for the collective meltdown... :)
