Saturday Night Thread PPV Poll

For those who want to participate in the thread Saturday night and watch a PPV together at the same time and comment, here is a poll I comprised of different suggestions.

Here are the choices

WrestleMania VII
Starcade 1997
Spring Stampede 1999

http://poll.pollcode.com/39293773

Voting Ends Friday at 4pm

Comments

  1. Come on guys, vote for Stampede 99. It's an awesome show with some great matches.

    ReplyDelete
  2. It jumped out to the early lead

    ReplyDelete
  3. I voted for it, but it was tough. I really like Mania VII.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'd like to campaign on behalf of Starrcade 97. It's a TERRIBLE FUCKING SHOW. They literally do everything wrong. It's going to be a lot more fun watching something we can all trash together.

    STARRCADE 97!!!!!
    Hogan/Sting
    Luger/Bagwell
    Goldberg/McMichael
    Benoit/Saturn
    DDP/Hennig.

THERE IS NOTHING TO LIKE ABOUT THIS.

    ReplyDelete
  5. By the way Bayless, any idea on a start time on Saturdays? If you started it at 7, you might be able to fit in two PPVs. But starting it at 8 or 9 seems more sensible. Hopefully the Xbox Network app is working by then as it would be ideal for me.

    ReplyDelete
  6. When will the results be announced? I wouldn't mind watching WM VII again (it's been eons), but I'm up for something new (i.e. the other treo options).

    ReplyDelete
  7. I went with WM7, but even back then, I remember being highly annoyed at Hogan winning the belt. In what fucking world was Slaughter a real threat to any younger, legit wrestler? I know the heel turn was huge, and I understand why VKM did it, but it was weak.

    ReplyDelete
  8. That just sounds so incredibly.... Sad... And this is from a guy with not that much of a social life himself.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm so weak minded but I'm kinda agreeing with you. While Stampede 99 is a great show, a trainwreck would probably be better for this, at least for the first time. DAMN IT! Bayless can I change my vote please?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Whatever time works best for you guys.

I actually will be out for the night (I can schedule posts ahead of time though, I do that frequently for the Saturday night threads) so whenever you want it to start, let me know.

    ReplyDelete
  11. BUT if we start the thread/show at 7 PM Eastern we might be able to fit in both shows.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm old and married, and my wife may work Sat night. Assuming I do all the other things I need/want to do, what else should I do with my rec time? If I'm not doing this, I'll probably be playing a video game.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Aren't you "Mr. Positive" on here? I don't think it's sad to want to watch a show and comment on it. Isn't that what we do for Raws, PPVs, etc.? Not cool man.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You'll be out? How dare you have a life.

    ReplyDelete
  15. So what time do you guys think the thread/show start time should be? Starting it at 8 or 9 PM Eastern would probably work out for our schedules. But if we start at 7 PM we could probably fit in two PPVs.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Why not have a little fun with a PPV if there is nothing better to do?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm one of the votes from wm7, I really think that main event is hogans best wwf match ever if you don't count Royal Rumbles

    ReplyDelete
  18. Bryan you should also set one of these up on a weeknight so it would be more for sure that people would be home to participate. I love this idea and we have so many fucking shows to pick from

    ReplyDelete
  19. Tuesday nights are a good night too. No live shows that night.

Magoonie came up with the idea

    ReplyDelete
  20. I voted for WrestleMania 7 for a couple reasons. 1) I don't have the Network but I do have WrestleMania 7 on DVD. 2) I think it's a fun show with some good-great matches. Probably the best of the first 7 WM top to bottom.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah I was all in the product at the time as I little kid and I thought it was a fucking joke that he beat Ultimate Warrior. I was kind of expecting to get hogan vs savage or warrior at wm7.

However watching the match in retrospect as a adult I think its fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  22. You think Slaughter/Hogan is better than Hogan/Savage or Hogan/Warrior? I dig Hogan/Slaughter too but I don't think it's near as good as those two matches.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Is there a worst booked show as far as finishes in wrestling history. What a cluster fuck on every possible level. This should have been WCWs wrestlemania 17, instead its a flamming wreck that arguably took the promotion down in the long run

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am a man of many things my friend

    ReplyDelete
  25. I've been throwing this idea around for a while now including doing it with bad WWE Films. But to be fair a bunch of people threw around this idea when the network was announced. But yeah a Tuesday and Saturday thread would be good. Im not sure if this would be saturating the blog but a Sunday thread during the day could be fun (but on non PPV Sundays).

    ReplyDelete
  26. By the way, FUCK ARIZONA!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sunday is a good idea too, especially since there is no football on currently.

Because I am a giant fan and it is a big event, I am putting up a March Madness thread the week it starts (not the Tuesday round, the one that happens on Thursday & Friday)

    ReplyDelete
  28. How are ypu guys gonna insure you aren't all like a minute off from each other.

    The thread would get confusing

    ReplyDelete
  29. Your_Favourite_LoserFebruary 26, 2014 at 9:08 PM

    parallax gets the pizzas

    ReplyDelete
  30. Cause it's sad. Didn't you read what he said?

Besides, you're going out, Mr. Has a LIfe. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have actually never seen Starcade 1997 so that is my vote... I'd love to rip it apart with you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  32. They passed a bill saying that a buisness can turn away customers because of their religious beliefs. Basically it's a law that says its ok for a buisness to discriminate against gay people and refuse them service just because they are gay.

    ReplyDelete
  33. And I eat them. All. Just like Belushi in Animal House, you'll be just fine if you keep your hands and feet away from my mouth.

    ReplyDelete
  34. And that is all that matters, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Bayless just puts in the main section "Show starts at 8 PM Eastern", then if you show up late at 8:45, you just fast foward to the 45 minute mark.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Literally. In anything you do. Ever.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Went back to The Wrestling Classic on the network...Dynamite Kid and Adrian had a nice match. Adonis could go. All I really remember about him from my youth was WM3 and its build.

    ReplyDelete
  38. WM VII took the lead

    ReplyDelete
  39. Great idea! I'm all in favor of it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm going to be working two pet sitting jobs Saturday which will most likley hurt my bad back so I'll want to rest that night but fuck me right?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Fuck you right? No, fuck you left!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Why, I don't have a big social life or the Network, but I'm still going to appear and have fun.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Also, I will post a live thread for the NXT Arrival show, along with the Impact thread

    ReplyDelete
  44. That WrestleMania 3 match gets forgotten but it was fun man. Short and intense. The video package really helped too because I didn't see the build so the video helped.

    ReplyDelete
  45. BoD Mania season is coming up and Nebb28's Pet Rock still needs an opponent

    ReplyDelete
  46. Honestly, I'm ok with this, and I'll tell you why. I prefer that government stay as much out of our lives as possible, and I think that a business owner should be able to run his/her business however he/she sees fit. That includes doing business, or not doing business, with whomever you like for whatever your reasons. The marketplace should then determine what happens to the business.

Having said that, would I give my money to someone I felt was despicable? Probably not, but sometimes it's unavoidable. I strongly dislike MS, but I have to use their products in a business setting if it's what my employer uses. I don't really get a choice.

I don't smoke and haven't for nearly 15 years, but I feel the same about smoking in bars or restaurants. I don't think it's something that should be addressed by laws; I think it's something a business owner should decide.

And from what you said, it sounds a bit more encompassing than discriminating against gays.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The power of a comma. But the way I like to be fucked it up, up, down, down, left, right, left right, A, B, Start. But you know, I'm freaky like that.

    ReplyDelete
  48. So you're in favor of segregation?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Your plans are set for BoD Mania. Not jobbing to the pet rock though

    ReplyDelete
  50. And, Savage beat Steamboat to advance from the quarter finals the same way he took the IC belt from Chico.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Its because we are all that sad

    ReplyDelete
  52. Depends on how you look at it. If a person wants to associate only with those of his own race, that's a personal choice. But, the whole Jim Crow thing in the south was horseshit.

    ReplyDelete
  53. So you agree that businesses were in the "right" to have "White Only" signs? Ok then.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Now I'm wondering if said pet rock uses an over the shoulder piledriver or a rock bottom as a finisher.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Sideways. Fuck you sideways. Can't forget that.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Depends on what you mean by "agree." I think they should be able to do so if they choose, though I would find such a policy disgusting.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The choices are start at the more logical 8 or 9 Eastern or start it at 7 and be able to fit in two PPVs.

    ReplyDelete
  58. No offense man but this is the stupidest thing ever. Just because this is America amd we have to "right" to do things, doesn't mean that those "rights" aernt fucking retatded. Running a business is things like product diversity, expansion, marketing, etc
Not discriminating against who you're consumers are.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ohhhh... two ppvs sounds pretty awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  60. All I know is that he has hands of stone

    ReplyDelete
  61. So you'd rather have a bunch of policies allowed that you find "disguisting" just to keep the govt "at bay" in this sense?

    ReplyDelete
  62. If two PPV's, start at 7 and the runner up choice is on after that?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Who said running a business was about discriminating against customers? You're oversimplifying what I said. And, no one says you have to agree with me. My point was I'm in favor of choice, and apparently, so are plenty of other people. The person running Chick-Fil-A said some pretty horrid shit about gays - though I don't recall exactly what it was - and while there was some bad press, I believe that business is still doing fine. Choosing to support that business is a choice, just as his belief and choosing to voice them are.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I get your choice argument but it is MORALLY REPUGNANT! Discrimination needs to be fought not given loopholes.

    ReplyDelete
  65. < facepalm> How did I not see that coming?

    ReplyDelete
  66. It's not about loopholes; it's about choice. To me, it's that simple.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Yep, start the winner at 7 then the runner up at 10.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Or build up to the winner.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hmm. Not bad .

    What do you guys prefer?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Next poll, we should do an all trainwreck poll

    ReplyDelete
  71. Good point, either way works.

    ReplyDelete
  72. It's more complicated than that, but pretty much.

"I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

    - Evelyn Beatrice Hall paraphrasing Voltaire

Freedom of speech is easy until someone disagrees with you.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I personally prefer the start at 7 and do two PPVs. But make sure to put in the main post "X Show starts at 7 and Y Show starts at 10".

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yes. My nominee...WM9, though I'm not sure I could actually sit through that fucker.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm not oversimplifying. It sounds like you'd rather live in a world with "disguisting" policies (your words) just to try and make some kind of arbitrary stand against at the govt.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I will put the schedule out on the thread for all to see on the main page

    ReplyDelete
  77. http://www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/god_damn_right_breaking_bad.gif

    ReplyDelete
  78. I was thinking if we do multiple night "Live" threads each day we do it has a simple theme. One night is "So Bad It's Good" PPV, one is "Best PPVs of all time" and if we do a third night a week maybe "Hidden Gems/Forgotten Classics".

    ReplyDelete
  79. Uncensored 1995, 2004 GAB, December to Dismember 2006

    ReplyDelete
  80. What exactly is NXT arrival, and whats the card? Its a nxt ppv? Is it live?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Nope. It's not about taking a stand against the gov't. I'd just rather live in a world where people have choice. There will ALWAYS be policies I find disgusting in place, whether it's a business or government. The fact that we are currently engaged in two wars on foreign soil fucking pisses me off beyond measure when I think about it for any length of time. Animal cruelty gets me going quickly. The current occupant of the oval office passing a law that could get me locked away indefinitely without going through the legal process...yeah, I'm not going to think about that one.

In my mind, the point on this particular issue is that someone who has a business should be able to run it pretty much as they please. Are there exceptions? Of course. I'm opposed to "snake oil" and all that implies. I'm opposed to violating the law, whether or not I agree with any given law. There is a way to change laws that shouldn't exist or are unconstitutional.

Look, I recognize that the issue isn't simple, and I'm not saying that I'm "right." I'm expressing a point of view.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Voicing your opinion and saying horrible shit is one thing. It's another to be able to throw gay people out of your resteraunt legally"

    ReplyDelete
  83. Just don't go to the place. Who gives a fuck. Let them serve whites only or whatever they want to, they'll just go out of business anyways

    ReplyDelete
  84. Finally finished going through that show; rented the final episodes from a local video store only to have Netflix post them for streaming the day after. Fuckers.

    Anyway, good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  85. It's a matter of perspective, and again, it doesn't sound like it's limited to folks who are gay. Haven't you ever been to a business that had a sign up stating "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" or something similar? To me, that's what this is.

    ReplyDelete
  86. If business wants to discriminate, fuck em, let the market decide (It will decide negatively)

    ReplyDelete
  87. Its a two-hour live special on the network, starting at 8 tomorrow

Zayn vs. Cesaro 2 out of three falls
Adrian Neville vs. Bo Dallas in a Ladder Match

    ReplyDelete
  88. That's pretty much what I'm saying; thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  89. You know, I watched Dismember within the last year or two, and while it sucked, I wouldn't put it on the same level as WM9. Of course, I just have a really strong dislike for that show.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I really don't think some of these businesses will go out of buisness like you think. I can see a bunch of bigoted assholes flocking to the store because of what the store is doing.

    ReplyDelete
  91. From what I remember, it isn't that bad. The botched main event has kinda put a cloud over the whole thing.

    ReplyDelete
  92. WHAT?!?!? It isn't even in the top ten.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Honest question on the point of a buisness being able to be run as they please. What's the difference between this and a boss calling a buxom employee "sugar tits" or telling his secretary to dress more provocatively? The boss is still running the buisness as he wants.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Yeah but so what? Let them shop where ever they want. You and I don't have to support that and thats our right too. Thats really all there is to it. I dont want a government that forces people to think a certain way, even if its a way I agree with. Doing that is just as bad (if not worse) than being prejudiced.

    ReplyDelete
  95. And the governor vetoed it.

    No harm, no foul.

    ReplyDelete
  96. So you're saying that businesses are compelled to do what's best for business?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Nobody is forcing anybody to this a certain way, if a bigot wants to think that a person is a "dirty faggot" or a "porch monkey" go right ahead and think that. But you can't start throwing people out of your store just based on skin color or sexual orientation.

    ReplyDelete
  98. That's good but it's scary a law like this could even pass in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  99. That depends on what perspective you're asking about.

If you mean me and my personal beliefs, I don't think it should be illegal. In fact, one could say you've pretty much just described any average Hooters location. Maybe not a secretary, but certainly the waitresses. Maybe the job requires a certain type of dress. Or undress. But, if you mean just a normal office job or something similar, I don't think it should be something addressed by the law.

However, we as a society have adopted laws that make the behavior you described illegal, which is fine. AZ decided to give business owners more choice about how they express their religious beliefs, and I'm fine with that.

Either way, the marketplace will ultimately decide. How long would anyone who worked for the guy you described stay there? I suppose it depends in part on how badly the work is needed, and there may be some that actually like being treated that way. But, most would probably quit, and understandably so.

Of course, if someone gave that sort of direction to my wife and she told me about it, I'd be likely to run afoul of the legal system myself...though odds are she probably wouldn't tell me because she knows how I'd react.

Oh, and it's my understanding that there is a legal difference between how a boss/owner can treat employees and how he determines those with whom he chooses to conduct business.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I more meant because of lag or 60 people all off by one second

    ReplyDelete
  101. See, I'd rather *Know* someone felt that way.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Farva, we can make nice in a post Punk world.

    Cause you're right here

    ReplyDelete
  103. Why would anyone want to watch Starrcade 97 again? Some of the Russo PPVs are at least so bad that they're entertaining, but there's nothing entertaining about that shitshow. I consider it the worst PPV ever.

    ReplyDelete
  104. New Blood Rising, Halloween Havoc 2000, and since Heroes of Wrestling isn't on the network (Right?), N2R 97.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Because the racist fucks will prop them up as heroic figures and throw money at them. They'll end up with better press and more money based on discriminating, unfortunately.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Yes, it's still doing fine...because the people who despise gay people ran out and threw money at them. Which is part of the point...this whole "the market will just fix it" implies people are inherently good and inclusive. In this country right now there's an overall minority (but still a huge group of people) that hate homosexuals so much (for completely ludicrous reasons, because even the Bible they try to hide behind is all about love and forgiveness and not judging people), that they will go way out of their way to throw money at anyone who tries to attack these people.

    ReplyDelete
  107. It never passed. It made it through the Senate, it got to the governor, it got shitcanned.

Classic case of checks and balance actually working.

    ReplyDelete
  108. And that is their right, just as it's yours to disagree. And, the market will fix it doesn't imply people are inherently good or inclusive in my mind. To me, it says that the group will decide the fate of the business. There is a line for most people. With Chick-Fil-A, the product is good enough to most that the comments of their owner/CEO/whatever didn't make enough difference. And, it's a safe bet that not everyone who works there has the same opinion. However, I suspect it might be a different story if it came out that the company had a policy of discriminating against gay people, whether overtly or covertly.

    Or, maybe not.

    ReplyDelete
  109. No, Heroes of Wrestling isn't on the network. It wasn't WWF/E, WCW, ECW, or anyone of consequence, really.

    < sigh >

I watched that as it occurred, though it was with a "juiced" cable box.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I figured it wasn't, but maybe they just bought the rights to it just because someone found an extra $20 bill in their jacket or something...

I also watched it live in the same manner. Cheater boxes were the shit, first time I ever saw a real porn movie was on a cheater box. Yet you still couldn't get HBO. Captain Midnight was right all along.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I had to Google who Captain Midnight was.

12.95 seems pretty generous for HBO, then again I take it HBO wasn't the HBO of today in '86.

    ReplyDelete
  112. thought about it and think it would make much more sense to rant on something that is being shown in the live stream.

because I doubt that we all manage to start at the exact same second/minute. with the stream, we know that everyone is watching the same thing at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Shit Show Saturday has some appeal to it.

    ReplyDelete
  114. That show gets too much hate. It's a good show and very watchable.

    ReplyDelete
  115. That won't matter a whole lot. The live threads are all about lag and catching up anyway.

We all popped huge when Reigns busted out that floor to the apron dropkick, so we took to the blog. Then you read through a bunch of posts and catch up on the match again.

I'd say the main thing is, anyone doing this has to start at the same time, and not skip the ppv forward or backward at all.

... and if you show up at 9:13... jump to 1:13 on the PPV.
