Warrior/Punk

Easy question I know someone must have asked in one of the million threads: how insane would the net have gone if it was a cultural touchstone during the first Warrior walkout? Or is it mute because smarks would have hated him?

I don't recall the reaction in 91, but the 92 walkout was pretty solidly anti-Warrior as far as RSPW went.

Comments

  1. Sadly, there is no CM PUNK GRAMMAR SLAM to help my moot/mute point.

    ReplyDelete
  2. I haven't gone through all the comments about Punk on here in the last week, but has anyone drawn any parallels between his situation and Bret going home for 6 months after the iron man match? Because that seems like a much closer parallel than the Austin or Warrior situations. Did RSPW shit all over Bret back in 96?

    ReplyDelete
  3. As I recall, Bret was already going to take time off to shoot that Lonesome Dove series and just take some time off in general. I don't think he actually "walked out."

    ReplyDelete
  4. Bret's "walkout" was the story that was planned. It's in the Bret/Shawn rivalry DVD.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Mute points always fall on deaf ears.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Ah. Fair enough then.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I think it's a bit of a play on words. Mute point - Deaf ears.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I think Warrior's was more petty i.e. for money. Punk and Austin's were because of bad booking. I don't think Warrior cared much about booking. It's cool to read the perspectives of people that were around the dirtsheets in 1991-1992 and how the "knowledgable fans" reacted.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Well. Bad booking which lead to a lack of money in Austin's case. He always said that he would work a program with Brock and happily put him over, however why not build it up proper and actually make some money off of it, rather than throw the thing away for free.

    ReplyDelete
  10. How awesome would it be if the CM Punk walkout was a work and it was a way to involve Warrior into the HHH angle?

    ReplyDelete
  11. YankeesHoganTripleHFanFebruary 2, 2014 at 3:00 PM

I hope that the Punk walkout is a work...I really do. I love watching Punk wrestle. He had the two best matches last year, (Lesner and Undertaker) and the best match on Raw, (vs Cena) and I have no doubt that he and Hunter would tear the house down at Wrestlemania. But if he really did walk out....then he is the same whiney little bitch he has been his whole life.

Yeah downvote that..go ahead. God forbid anyone says anything bad about princess punk

    ReplyDelete
  13. YankeesHoganTripleHFanFebruary 2, 2014 at 3:08 PM

Austin always did make a great point with that. Punk walking out reeks of the little bitch syndrome.

    ReplyDelete
  14. YankeesHoganTripleHFanFebruary 2, 2014 at 3:11 PM

Hey how about instead of downvoting you write something in rebuttal? Your all whiney little bitches just like CM.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well the Warrior was actually fired in 1991 for daring to ask for more money. I'm pretty sure the smarts would have been in his corner. Although the Vince/Hogan story for 20 years was how Warrior "held up Vince" for money at SummerSlam, which has long been disproven.

If anything, maybe we would've gotten the real story about that.

In 1992, when he walked out instead of turning heel...yeah, people wouldn't have liked that.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Go search the 20 other CM Punk threads if you want a rebuttal.

  18. Except wasn't part of Warrior's grievance the plan to put him against Nailz?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I thought he was terminated for receiving steroids? Ditto Davey Boy.

    ReplyDelete
  20. herrr derrrr where is your rebuttal to my rebuttal bitch derp

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think Warrior was more of a realist, in the end its all about the money...

...Punk seems to be more from the Bret Hart school of "it's real to me"....

    ReplyDelete
  22. "...I read those lines during the Lonesome Dove shoot so well, that my horse came over with a tear in its eye...."

I know I am late to the CM Punk debate party.... I was busy fucking my girlfriend. We tried it in the ass this morning. She screamed in pain and made me take it out before I could cum but it was fun while it lasted.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Bret, in response, gave the horse's performance only a 4 out of 10.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Am I bad person for downvoting you for your username?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Let's not forget them asking him to job to Johnathan Coachman, of all people.

No because you a Sox fan. I hate you, you hate me, but at least we know where the other one is coming from. We are genuine fans unlike...I don't know...say...Seattle?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I didn't downvote as it's a waste of time, but here's my take TL;DR

Punk has no leverage beyond walking out, and if he thinks he's outperforming his contract it's a good way to get the boss to negotiate. If it's not, it makes no sense as if he's hurt he can just tell them he's hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  30. YankeesHoganTripleHFanFebruary 2, 2014 at 3:35 PM

All things considered my mom is pretty cool. I wouldn't tell her my ass sex story, ( I might tell my dad) but still...

    ReplyDelete
  31. My age would determine how I reacted. I was 11 then so I'd have been all 'hey go away Warrior' as he totally sucked. At 32 I get why he wanted to maximize his income and felt it was the best way to get the boss to pay him more. However, he still sucked and I'd have been on whatever side meant I didn't have to see him ever again.

No an actual girlfriend that l got hooked onto wrestling. The ladder match DVD made her a Chris Beniot fan. I...um...had to tell her what happened. She took it surprisingly well.

    ReplyDelete
  33. No, I meant your 13-year-old-esque response of "I was busy fucking hurr hurr buttsex" reminded me of the earlier works of Caliber Winfield (Caliber Classic).

  34. YankeesHoganTripleHFanFebruary 2, 2014 at 3:44 PM

Oh 8 downvotes, (and one upvote) anyone else got something?

    ReplyDelete
  35. YankeesHoganTripleHFanFebruary 2, 2014 at 3:49 PM

Ah I miss being 13. Girls were so hot then right? I mean seriously you could be attracted to ANYBODY without consequence, Older, younger, same age, it didn't matter. So thank you for reminding me of that time....(and yes I still have a girlfriend that likes wrestling...we are planning a day around Wrestlemania)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Keep downvoting, Orlando Jordan.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I wonder if Benoit decided to quit/take a break a little before WrestleMania 23 if he would be looked at as a Whitney little bitch? Probably. I'm so glad we got those extra matches out of him.

    ReplyDelete
  38. You're, or you are. Are you twelve or something?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't know if you're joking or lying but here's some tips and tricks. Warm up the hole, lick it if you can, use some lube and rub it with your fingers, slowly finger it with one finger, then when she's comfortable go for two. Work on this a while, while your doing that play with her clit and/or g spot with your other hand/tounge. When you go for it LOTS of lube, make sure you have plenty. Go slow, don't just jam it in there, just a little at a time. Let her control the pace as well. Don't go jack hammering like you would with PiV, really slow, get a rhythm she is comfortable with.

Also, I know I'll get the obligatory "that's gay" comments but if shes game, having her perform anal play on you can be amazing. I've had some really intense orgasms through that.

    ReplyDelete
  40. No, Punk left also because of the money. WWE hasn't told him how they're going to handle pay-outs for PPV's after changing over to the network. Punk and Warrior are far more alike than most seem to realize.

    ReplyDelete
  41. That was in 1992. In 1991, he was fired because he demanded to be paid as much as Hogan for Summerslam.

    ReplyDelete
  42. You were 13...how much 'younger' are we talking about?

    ReplyDelete
  43. There's been ZERO confirmation from anyone why he left, everything is just speculation.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The smarts wouldn't have been in his corner under any circumstance. Smarts in the 90's despised him.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Really? You've been around long enough to know to just ignore downvotes.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yes. You're acting like a whiny little bitch just like Punk because you're obsessed with counting how many people downvote you.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yeah, I think it was intended both to give Bret some rest and to allow Shawn to be alone in the spotlight.

    ReplyDelete
  48. If you're going by official confirmation, we don't even know if this is a storyline. But Dave Meltzer usually knows his shit, and that's what he stated was one of the reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  49. He probably wouldn't have, since he didn't have a 3+ year history of whining about everything. =)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I hope that if this is truly the case, Punk can learn some bodybuilding tips from the Warrior

    ReplyDelete
  51. Can't blame him. He was as important to selling tickets at that point, despite working the secondary, non-title main events.

    ReplyDelete
  52. ARRRRGH THE BARBARIANFebruary 2, 2014 at 5:30 PM

Well, he took a break before his last PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I wasn't online in 92, but I was shortly thereafter I remember the view of Warrior being pretty negative. His walking out was one of the early pillars of the perception of him as difficult and a bit crazy, way before his anti-queering rants.

    ReplyDelete
  54. YankeesHoganTripleHFanFebruary 2, 2014 at 5:55 PM

Magoonie....why would I lie? i did all those things. The point is I have a Girlfriend that is going to watch Wrestlemania with me...Until anyone else on the blog produces that.....drop mic.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Kind of strange that this comes up now. I was listening to a Bad News Brown shoot this morning, and he told a Warrior story. He said Warrior came to him and asked, "how much should I ask for a WM payout?" Bad News said Hogan is getting one million so ask for that. Warrior was like I don't want to piss him off, etc. Bad News said all he can say is no. Warrior asks and Vince goes, "Well that sounds reasonable" and Warrior gets one million for Wrestlemania VI just cause he asked for it.

By the way, Bad News got 12,000 and he was pissed cause Piper got way more than that.

    ReplyDelete
  56. My last g/f watched with me. Sadly though it didn't work out and I dumped her. She did anal once in a while, was nice. I haven't tried watching with any of the other women I've hooked up since then, but I've definitely done anal with a few.

    Yeah, suck it loser.

  57. ARRRRGH THE BARBARIANFebruary 2, 2014 at 6:12 PM

He no-showed his last PPV to go on a murdering spree.

    ReplyDelete
  58. That was, admittedly, unprofessional.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The buttsex you referenced above was actually your g/f (who is a real looker, I'm sure) fucking you with her strap-on. It's OK man you don't have to dress it up...this is a judgement free blog.

    ReplyDelete
  60. HHH pedigrees Warrior and Punk only for both of them to no sell ends Wrestlemania

    ReplyDelete
  61. It's a wonder that he doesn't have any friends to watch wrestlemania with so that he has to get in his knees and beg his girlfriend to browse Instagram on her iphone next to him on the couch while he watches.

Well I just saw the Hunter/Flair match from SS 05. Hunter beat Flair to death and Flair got back up....eventually. So I play Flair and take your death beating....get back up and shake your hand. It's awesome to have a wife that loves wrestling.

  69. I just noticed that every time one of these trolls pops up over the weekend, they always "insult" me the exact same way, with a huss huss joke. I'm pretty sure all these douches are the same guy. Not Elvy, though...he had style. He was a REAL troll, dammit.

    ReplyDelete
  70. This thread has too much trolling, pissy back and forth, interspersed for some reason with a detailed description of how to give and receive butt secks.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Let's be honest. Every troll is second fiddle to you know who.

(I'd say his name, but I'm seriously blanking. The dude that keeps coming up with the most inane, potty-mouthed booking ideas.)

  75. Jesse Baker, that's it. And I don't know. He seems to get people riled up enough or at least shaking their heads.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I don't think he's a troll either. The trolls usually don't take the time to lovingly craft ridiculous booking scenarios and email them directly to Scott.

  89. Are you referencing that reddit thing where if you are a 30 year old virgin you become a wizard. I don't know how that applies here but whatever. When Yankeesfan talks of his girlfriend though I wonder if he broke both his arms.

  91. I don't get why I was Downvoted, I thought it was a helpful beginners guide to anal sex.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Sounds like Punk did walk, but left the door open for it to be an angle. It appears he was burnt & unhappy with his usage, & constantly working hurt which are all perfect reasons for needing a break. Seems he's a principle guy who stands up for what he believes, most guys aren't & just talk shit.
And really, nobody really knows what happened and why. I think even Punk isn't foolish enough ti miss out on Mania XXX & the potential payday. A program with HHH has significance.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I read that Warrior was just strong-arming Vince for money owed to him, and can't recall when or why he "walked". I didn't know that happened? Anyone? Warrior just had a bad rep, deserved or not. Seems like he just did his own thing & rubbed everybody the wrong way.
But he did SOMETHING right. He peaked HUGE in WWF. Shit, got the clean pin on Hogan. And his run on top was very short, he is not broke, broken down, dissatisfied with his career or desperate to come back. Did well with his dough. Face it, most everybody within the business talk shit about him, but he is the minority of past stars who has sustained success.
    Maybe he did things RIGHT.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Curious as to how much Warrior was originally slated to get, or if he didn't know and just assumed it'd be significantly less than a million. It'd be funny if Vince was planning on paying him more money since he won and was gonna be the future of the company but when Warrior requested 'only' a million, that's what he wound up getting.
