WWE network

Hey Scott

Love your website keep up the good work.

As far as the network the streaming channel works great but the video on demand content is very aggravating. Either it doesn't play, buffers a lot, or the rating just plays and then poof back to the catalog. Also when I can play it I can't fast forward it just loops back to the place I left off its like I have to watch the whole show in its entirety

I've also been having issues with both streaming and archives since I finally got online, which I assume is from opening day issues.  It's really not a dealbreaker for me because I know they've got the proper infrastructure behind them (even if they're throwing them under the bus in press releases) and they should be able to figure it out.  But definitely there's some big room for improvement thus far.

  1. How long does the authorization hold on your credit card last for the free trial?

    ReplyDelete
  2. I'm had the exact same problems yesterday. I'm hoping it gets resolved in the next couple of days.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm also having tons of problems. Last night I couldn't play the network either streaming or archived on any device, ps3, tablet or laptop. I got this media is not available in your area, youve signed in too many times, and this media is not availsble messages. This morning I checked it on my tablet real quick and once I signed in it just started playing the streaming without taking me to the menu. If I tried to go back it would just close. I'm hoping it works better tonight when I get home.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I just bought it out right but people here and on twitter were saying their credit card wsd actually charged 9.99 when they did the free trial.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Probably until Monday, when the billing starts.

    ReplyDelete
  6. the live stream has worked great for me, however huge problems so far with the on demand, is anyone else just missing huge chunks of available shows on streaming players, like I can't see any ECW PPVs or Hardcore TV, and huge chunks of WWE and WCW PPVs aren't listed either

    ReplyDelete
  7. Mine are all listed but won't play. I don't know whose got it worse

    ReplyDelete
  8. PayPal!

I'm wondering what would happen if I just void my billing agreement after Mania...

    ReplyDelete
  9. Heenan: Vince, where did they get this guy.
McMahon: Well, if you really must know, he was coming up the subway and... oh, wait, you didn't want anyone to know that...

    Vince used to be funny.

    ReplyDelete
  10. it's great just hearing how annoyed heenan is anytime bartlett even opens his mouth

    ReplyDelete
  11. The live stream loads up immediately on my Roku.. faster than MLB games on the awesome MLB.TV, which is another thing that begins today with Day 1 of spring training... But yeah, on-demand PPVs don't work AT ALL, which that was the whole reason I wanted this service. I'll be forgiving, given the first few episodes of RAW are now airing and I just watched a decent Macho Man/Repo Man match with Perfect/Flair Loser Leaves Town now on.. But I would appreciate these things being fixed preferably before the trial ends, and at least by Wrestlemania, thx <3

    ReplyDelete
  12. This may be a stupid question, but does WWE purposely want the network to be USA only right now for whatever reason? (Like they don't want it to be overloaded too early on, so they are purposely restricting the access to it?) What I mean is, would they have an issue with the "unblock-us" thing? Or will they be perfectly happy because it means more instant buys?

    ReplyDelete
  13. "Watching" via PS3. I spent a good portion of the day on it yesterday, and only managed to watch one episode of 1993 RAW and one episode of Hardcore TV. The rest of the time was spent trying to get anything to work. Those two shows had plenty of freezing glitches (the 45 min episode of RAW took me a good two hours), and everything else (PPVs, other TV, Legends roundtable, etc) only plays the "TV-PG" rating, and then freezes with a pop up saying that it's unavailable, and to try again later.

Frustrating, but hopefully they will resolve it sooner than later.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You'll be charged the remaining $49.95

    ReplyDelete
  15. I didn't need any fancy-VPN thingies.
I'm in the UK, said I lived in Ohio, picked PayPal and VOILA.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Having better luck today. Watched Tuesday in tx. Now watching first survivor series.... Weird seeing Jake, Savage and steamboat on the same team. Also changed steamboats music.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I got through the first hour of Capital Combat last night without a hitch, and then the buffering started like a motherfucker. I gave up on it and tried out WrestleWar '90, and got through the first match before that started buffering too. I assume this will straighten itself out soon enough.

    ReplyDelete
  18. *gasp*... But how will you sleep at night? Huh?? Why do you have to turn this blog into a HOUSE OF LIES???????

    ReplyDelete
  19. Do they place a 60 dollar hold on your cc or just take the ten? If thats the case couldnt you just pay the ten bucks for maina with a visa gift card and let it cancel itself after a month?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Same problem on the roku. I'll give them a day or two to sort it out...

    ReplyDelete
  21. The on-demand PPVs have definitely been spotty today, I'm hoping they work fine this afternoon, as I planned on distracting myself from work by watching some WCW.

    ReplyDelete
  22. What are you watching on? I started watching WM X-Seven last night on my laptop and it was perfect. This morning I watched some more on Apple TV and even having to fast forward to where I left off on my laptop, it worked fine. Didn't work very well on my iPad, but the other two platforms were perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I just got charged 9.99, so it will be one month at a time I think.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nothing but the live stream via Roku for me. No On demand stuff works at all...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Apple TV. We tried it on Apple TV at my girlfriend's house last night and her son was able to watch Wrestlemania 29 just fine. When I got to my place, it worked like a champ for the first hour and then it was Buffering Hell for the rest of the night.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh and trying to contact the technical assistance help is a joke, on hold and then disconnected with both the phone and live chat.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, I just went with the "Buy Now" option, too. The people complaining that they were charged with a free trial probably just have a hold on their account. It sometimes seems like the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  28. so being on hold 20 minutes in and counting i should probably just give up?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Having similar trouble on my PS3 and my ipad. Initially yesterday the channel worked completely fine and I was able to watch the new countdown show and one of the legends roundtable without any trouble. When I tried to load up the channel after Raw, it buffered like crazy and is still doing the same this morning. Really hoping this gets resolved. I have the day off today and was hoping to binge on some old ppvs.

    ReplyDelete
  30. It's definitely geo-blocking in Canada now. I have to be watching on my home devices to be able to access it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I was disconnected after about 10 mins TWICE. So I don't know. I am hanging in there on the live chat waiting in the queue. I am not sure what they can even do at this point but I want it on record incase it comes down to refunds etc...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hola extension for Chrome
US PSN account for the PS3

    Done.

Also you can login with the same details on at least 3 different locations.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I reckon it's to do with PPV/TV rights abroad.

They just signed a new deal with Sky over here in the UK which will see the end of "free" selected PPV's on the Skysports channel.

Now people have to purchase them all on box office for £15/$25

    ReplyDelete
  34. After having no luck on my ps3 and iPad this morning, I logged in through my laptop and the archives are working perfectly. Currently watching In Your House: Final Four.

    ReplyDelete
  35. After watching flawlessly for about 20 minutes, the stream died right after I typed that comment. Sigh...

    ReplyDelete
  36. 20 minutes is more than I've managed, unless you count time on hold to tech assistance.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It's very frustrating on my end. Roku and ps3 stall out but the PC is fine till it randomly stalls out again.

Netflix, Amazon Streaming, and Hulu plus all work fine on my less than perfect internet. Come on wwe I WANT THIS BADLY!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't even get anything on my laptop!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wow it's pretty scary the amount of issues coming up with the Network. I know it's first day issues, but at the same time it might be enough to put off some people for life.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Chat support were worse than useless. Just a lot of waiting for token answers then told me to call the phone line. Terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I was convinced there was something wrong with my internet connection yesterday until I pulled up Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Instant and they all worked perfectly. Can't wait until they get the kinks worked out because the content is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  42. After a morning of no problems with the live stream on my laptop, I just pulled up Halloween Havoc 1989 with a slight delay, but it still loaded. Some of the other early WCW PPVs weren't working on my laptop this morning, though.

Has anyone compiled a list of things that ARE/AREN'T working so far?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Also is anyone's Roku channel really incomplete? Like there is nothing in years 2006, 2007, and like 2 ppvs in 1999 and wcw is hit or miss? Tried updating it and deleting and reinstalling and that did nothing. My Roku is also one of the older ones.

I know it will get sorted out eventually. I JUST WANT IT NOW NOW NOW!

    ReplyDelete
  44. The first two Survivor Series ppvs may be my two favorite shows ever.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I figured the reason was incase the Network bombs and loses a lot of money they can count on International sales keeping them somewhat afloat because otherwise it'd just be too much of a gamble.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I have my PC hooked into a television. No problems whatsoever.

    ReplyDelete
  47. i'm missing all ecw (both ppvs and tv) and huge chunks of both wcw and wwe ppvs on my roku 2 player, but a brand new purchased one

    ReplyDelete

Still nothing at all other than ratings bumpers a day later. It's not something I'm going to use often, but if it's two weeks from now and nothing's happening and they don't have any troubleshooting, it's chargeback time

    ReplyDelete
  49. If I could afford to be charged I wouldn't be wanting to do a free trial in the first place. If it was for an hour that'd be different but not for a week

    ReplyDelete
  50. Live stream of last week's Main Event plays flawlessly. None of the archived PPV's will get past the rating screen. Last night, streamed KOTR 2001 flawlessly. I forgot how brutal that Shane/Angle match was. That sick sound of Shane's head hitting the concrete still haunts me.

    ReplyDelete
  51. They really need to extend the free trial to a month for this bullshit.
HBO GO worked right out of the gate on its first day and they had 26 million people with access to that service, at least 25 million more people than what WWE is currently getting for its Network, me thinks WWE should have hooked up with those guys instead of hooking up with a company that apparently doesn't know how to handle anything bigger than a baseball game watched by a few thousand people at a time.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah, I was gonna sit down and redo the Big Event after RAW today, but archives still aren't working for me on PS3. Live stream looks great, though.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hmm that's interesting. I guess it's really hit or miss.

    ReplyDelete
  54. You only have one shot at making a first impressions.

    ReplyDelete
  55. ARRRRGH THE BARBARIANFebruary 25, 2014 at 11:36 AM

I just tried Halloween Havoc 1989... 20 minutes ago, and it's still getting the buffering symbol

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm 75 minutes in, Steiners vs. Doom! No problems as of yet.

And as soon as I say something it buffers...

    ReplyDelete
  57. My favorite bit so far is someone in the live thread last night saying that there's no easy way to cancel your account and that the customer service advised them to cancel their credit card to cancel the Network. That's just so insane on so many levels.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Maybe the Network will have so many problems it will generate a class-action lawsuit and the WWE will panic and put the title on Daniel Bryan to reduce the backlash.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I think MLB TV starts tomorrow. I don't think either of the MLB vs. college teams (one of my favorite parts of spring training) today is streaming.

    ReplyDelete
  60. If my choice is the Network or Daniel Bryan as champion than DB can go fuck himself.

    ReplyDelete
  61. You really think theres more than a couple thousand people trying to watch wcw ppvs from 25 years ago? I use mlb.tv and have NEVER had an issue.

    ReplyDelete
  62. After some early morning issues, I just watched the entire IYH: Final Four without a hitch on my laptop. Hopefully I can get my PS3 running just as smoothly.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Obviously there is or else they wouldn't have made those shows "available" in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  64. this.

it's basically the same reason why Netflix, Hulu and dozens of online services (from video to audio streaming) are either not available in every country at all or with a different content (for a non-us example: let's say you love the "peep show" and would like to watch some episodes on the channel 4 website.... well, afaik you would need a british ip adress for it because other countries are blocked).

    ReplyDelete
  65. And an hour and a half in, it restarts! I can't seem to get to the last few matches. Screw it, I'm watching WrestleMania 2 - What the World Has Come To.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I watched a few minutes of Wrestle War '91 this morning before I had to leave on my Iphone with no issues. Now I can't get that show to work on any device. Live steam working well; I tried to watch the WWE Main Event episode that was livestreaming, and it would only play the rating video.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I don't see why not.

    ReplyDelete
  68. You need to log in to your WWE account on your computer. Go to your account settings. The parental control is on off. Turn it on then off again and all of the PPV should be available on Roku.

    ReplyDelete
  69. What is the legality of this exactly?

    ReplyDelete
  70. It started blocking, seems they did not block initially due to the high load, you can use either VPN or SmartDNS see http://thevpn.guru/watch-wwe-network-outside-usa/

    ReplyDelete
  71. Thanks for the article Scott. Another considerable service for those who can’t access WWE Network due to geo restriction is UnoTelly. Furthermore, you can use it for 3 months for free by taking advantage of their promo: http://www.unotelly.com/blog/promo/
