New Jack/WWE Network Update

In the past 24 hours, all of New Jack's matches have been added back to the ECW shows but they have dubbed over his theme song, "Natural Born Killaz," with an instrumental hip-hop track and new voiceovers on commentary from Joey Styles.

  1. Is that true about the New Jack stuff? I saw New Jack matches on WWE 24/7 with overdubbed music from ECW PPVs.

Also, even if that was true, why did they wait until after the Network launched to do it??

Not that New Jack matches mean all that much in the grand scheme of things, that doesn't add up at all.

  2. It's just insane how jealous Savage was. I can't believe she stayed with him for so long.

Is there anyone who DIDN'T love elizabeth?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Andre must have been miserable in the late 80's. 3 of his main feuds were against guys he apparently hated (Savage, Jake, Warrior).

    ReplyDelete
  6. The stuff on the Network and WWE 24/7 aren't always the same. The network had the Coliseum Video releaes for The Big Event and a few other older PPV's, where as the WWE 24/7 versions showed the full-length releases.

    ReplyDelete
  7. He liked Duggan at least

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yeah but that wouldn't apply to ECW PPVs, which is where New Jack is. They showed the original broadcasts of ECW PPVs on 24/7. Were they showing the ECW home video versions on the Network?

It simply seems extremely odd that of all the matches and all the wrestlers in the library, only New Jack got cut. I assume they were able to dub all the Sandman entrances, right?

    ReplyDelete
  9. How great would it be to get a call from a coked-up Randy Savage at 3:30 a.m. to talk wrestling???

    ReplyDelete
  10. and "yourfavoriteloser" because he apparently hates all women, and all people who have experienced any kind of positive love experience.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Quote from the Hogan interview about their relationship: "When you got in bed with Randy, you were in it for the long haul. Good or bad, brother. He’s going to drag you through the mud whether you like it or not. And it was intense, because Randy was such a passionate person"

Apparently the WWE hired Tobias Funke to ghost write their interviews.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I didn't think there were "home video" versions of ECW on ppv.

    ReplyDelete
  13. From what I've read he was pretty miserable and a pretty miserable guy to be around towards the end. Constant pain will do that to you.
In his matches from the 70's you can tell he's having fun. You don't get that impression from his later stuff.

  14. Mister_E_Studd_Got100ProblemsMarch 28, 2014 at 7:59 AM

Yeah, I think that late 80s Andre wasn't enjoying life much at all.

    ReplyDelete
  15. RF Video was the video distributor of ECW.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I request they re-remove New Jack from the Network. Before they add Nitro please remove Mongo while we're at it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. And I think Hart.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Only after Bret lied and said he liked soccer.

    ReplyDelete
  19. And Paul Roma

    ReplyDelete
  20. Great, need to reread the book again.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I've been watching the ECW ppvs for the last couple weeks and new jack was never missing

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thread jack: On that post about having one match from each WM without repeat wrestlers or titles, I tried that with the EC PPVs and all I have to say is, if you try it, good luck. I was thinking of what matches to put in and it was impossible. If you do figure it out, like I did, you're gonna get a less than satisfied card IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  23. If it came out that Hogan was lying about reconciling with Savage, I wouldn't be shocked.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I misread what was reported. I have fixed the item.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I misread the story. I have fixed the post

    ReplyDelete
  26. I wish I could have gotten one of those instead of a "Happy Birthday" from Tatanka back in '93.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Unacceptable Bayless.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I was watching guilty as charged 1999 last night and the mutants chant boring during the super crazy vs tajiri match which is the best match in the first half of the show by a mile (I haven't seen the 2nd half yet)

    ReplyDelete
  30. It's ok, he gets it right 97% of the time. No big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm going to be ardently checking the Dudley Boyz Heatwave '99 segment until they put up the uncensored version of the show

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ehh I wouldnt doubt it. It's atleast the same story he has told before without parts being changed around (like every other Hogan story). Maybe thats the way to tell if its truthful

    ReplyDelete
  33. An add just popped up at the top of my screen for a Florida Rehab Center and the first thing to come to mind was Farva.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Murphy should really sue for gimmick infringement.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Still cant watch New Jack with the dubbed music, just kills the whole thing for me. Voodoo Child being removed for Hogan as well

UPDATE: Well, that wasn't so bad. Doubt that Liz actually hit her head on the concrete, but by Hogan standards this was fine.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah, seemed like he was kayfabbing on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Murphy has been gone for a while

    ReplyDelete
  40. I've just been replaced

    ReplyDelete
  41. New Jack's matches on ECW PPVs (except for his one with Mustafa from 1999) were not included on ECW PPVs when the Network went up because WWE hadn't prepared those shows yet (the show with the Mustafa match aired on COD). They had to not only dub over the music (which is more work since NJ's music played during his matches, not just his entrance), but Joey Styles had to record new commentary for the matches because they apparently couldn't dub over the music without losing the original commentary.
It's not such a big deal on the earlier shows since Styles worked by himself back then, but on the later shows, NJ's matches are now called by Styles alone rather than Styles and Don Callis.

    ReplyDelete
  42. There was nothing cut out of ECW PPVs if you bought them from ECW when they were in business or if you by them from RF Video today. I still have Barely Legal and Heat Wave '98 on VHS that I got directly from ECW, and they didn't do anything to them.

    ReplyDelete
  43. LOL @ Murphy being able to afford representation

    ReplyDelete
  44. All of New Jack's matches (with one exception) as well as his run-in at Heat Wave 1999 after the Dudleys vs. Balls/Spike match were missing from the ECW PPVs. His run-ins into other wrestlers' matches and his match with Mustafa at LD 1999 were on the Network when it launched.
Yesterday, WWE fixed this, and now all of NJ's appearances are included, both run-ins and matches. For example, his match with Rhino at November to Remember 2000 was edited ouf of the show when the Network launched, but now it's included. Same for NJ/Spike vs. the Dudleys at GAC 1999. That match wasn't on the Network until yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Really? You would've thought he'd mention that at least one time.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I skimmed through the comments of that thread yesterday, and it might have been the saddest showing I have ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  47. He's been doing that for YEARS we all used to sympathize with him and try to help him out... but he won't listen and just keeps going on and on about it... and seems to be becoming bitter as well and it has just worn thin.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yep, I was amazed at how he actually resented the rest of you guys. That's like a whole different level of "sad". Maybe it's a good thing I saw the thread late, my inner "Incognito" might have come out. :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Wow.. hearing “No baby oil!” WHAM!" in my head with Andre's "Anybody want a peanut" voice is making me laugh my ass off.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Interesting. You should be proud, I had pegged someone else as the cover.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Re-hire Don Callis. Problem solved. You're welcome.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You're in luck. They took the show down yesterday to put New Jack's run-in after the match, and it's back up with Bubba Ray's promo unbleeped.
Just make sure you access the shows from the "Pay-Per-View" section where the WWE, WCW, and ECW PPVs are, not the "Vault" section where the ECW and World Class TV shows are.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Speaking of overdubs, I was just noticing one of the things I like about the Network: the lack of modern "WWE" logo imprinted on all old shows. It's a small detail, but watching old stuff on DVDs with the current logo there kind of takes me out of it a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Is this a regular thing where frequent posters have complete meltdowns? It feels like this sort of things happening a lot lately.

    ReplyDelete
  65. ... Is he really *THAT* far off the mark, though?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I think so. Most everyone here is sarcastic and rude... but I wouldn't classify most of us as particularly emotional.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I don't know, I can't even count the number of times that a "troll" said an "obvious troll" comment, followed by 100 exasperated and defensive replies. Anyhoo!!! I always enjoy reading those threads, so it's all good!

  78. Double TJ:

-DJax is out of Philly. Although, I find his release to be bullshit. They're saying "You may or may not be a gang-banger, but if even you aren't we're gonna release you anyways."

-MJD finally had the chance to go to a contender and he fucked that up.
