Hi Scott,
With the network up and running (kinda), I have thought of an idea to help incorporate it with your site. Run a rant club, similar to how Book clubs work. The idea is simple. Every week you make a post announcing that in a weeks time you will post a new rant of a classic show, that's int he Network archives. we then go and watch the show for ourselves and use the comments section of that post to put our own thoughts, jokes, questions, etc about the show. At the end of the week you do your own rant on the show but include anything interesting from the comments section. Then after you post the rant, in a separate post you announce the next show and so on. Not only will this give people a reason to watch particular shows but as you'll be having people watch and comment on 1 particular show then they will have more to say, more arguments, which means more comments and therefore more hits. Win-Win
Tell me what you think.
I'd sure as hell have more fun doing that than RAW most weeks. The problem would be that I don't generally have a set M-F work schedule and it's hard to find 3 hours at night to do a PPV, but it's certainly something I'd be willing to explore if people like the idea.
I've been watching a lot of Edge & Christian matches on the Network lately (and, thus, a lot of Hardy matches) and it's amazing to me that any of the four can walk at all. Christian and Jeff, especially.
ReplyDeleteI sent in the original email by the way.
ReplyDeleteOn all the daily network posts, people are posting about watching a random show, they get a few comments on that thread and that's it, because there are 5 other random shows referenced by other people.
A full post to comment on say Royal Rumble 2000, with everyone actually having just watched it. We'd get more comments than most raw threads.
Considering they get posted on DM the next day, this is an even better idea w/ NJPW ppvs.. I'd rather see dudes bringing the Workrate~!
ReplyDeleteChristian is remarkably healthy for the shit he's done.
ReplyDeleteEh, I like the original LIVE PPV Thread idea better and it seems to have gotten a good response yesterday. See if the next couple of weeks continue to do well on Saturdays and then maybe expand and do a second day a week for a past PPV Live thread.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get the network because of personal stuff I'm dealing with right now. Just like for everyone who has the network to know that I hate all of you right now.
ReplyDeleteCheers
I like the idea.

ReplyDeleteWe did that on Saturday... it was a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this - I think right now we're all kind of doing our own thing, but I think the idea is we kind of want a live-thread mentality for specific shows. I think we could group together like 3 or 4 shows a day or a week or what not. And set a start date to watch them. People who watch them 'live' can get the live thread vibe, and people who catch it later or saw it before can chime in too.
ReplyDeleteFor March I vote: Luckiest Victories: The biggest underdog moments in Wrestling, in honor of St. Patrick's day.
Great move set too. Big fan of the Falling DDT and the Unprettier (I'm drawing a blank on the current name), I dislike the spear though.
ReplyDeleteChristian doesn't get enough love just for keepin' on goin'. If anything, I wish he would make his move-set a little safer, more ground-based. Every time I see him go up top now I get scared for the guy.
ReplyDeleteSo like the YouTube Match of the Day, but for the Network?
ReplyDeleteSounds fun. Even people without the Network can probably still join in via DailyMotion...
Why doesn't he have a submission? He's Canadian after all.
ReplyDeleteKillswitch.
ReplyDeleteLets start with something awful. Scotts rants are awesome when he gets annoyed at what he's watching.
ReplyDeletePerhaps moving the live thread to non-PPV Sundays would get even more people to participate.
ReplyDeleteThat last MSG show was pretty goddamn annoying.
ReplyDeleteOr we can do ECW PPV Friday, WCW/NWA PPV Saturday, WWF PPV Sunday.
ReplyDelete???
Spring Stampede 2000 is about as bad as it gets.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a fan of smaller guys having a spear as a finisher. If they want to use it against guys near their size, cool, but it always looks ugly when they do it to someone bigger.
ReplyDeleteI'd totally be down.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun to me....
ReplyDeleteI think he did the cloverleaf for a bit, never used as a finish. I am a big fan of Christian. Glad he is back (again), he is kinda taking jerichos role for the time being.
ReplyDeleteHe's been regularly working for one of the big three for 15 years now, I'm sure he's got enough stowed away but I'm glad to see him get work. Big fan as well, don't know why he gets so shitted on.
