TJ: Since people are talking about HIMYM, I'll just say this: I didn't HATE most of the finale or anything, but talking about trolling the audience with that ending.

Knew it was a gag, but still clicked anyway. Well done.

  3. Okay, so eight matches for Wrestlemania. Four of which likely won't get above ** but the other half have ****+ potential. I suppose that's... okay. The booking's really been poor and you would've thought they'd make some effort for No.30. Surely this is the last year for Special Guest Superstars.

What that video makes clear is that somehow - by accident more than design - Daniel Bryan has one of the most consistent and logical progression of any current "Superstar". It's also incredibly condescending, but hey ho, that's WWE for you.

I clicked thinking it was legit. When I discovered that I was tricked, I went ballistic and torn my office apart. Police are on the way. I'll get you, Scott Keith.

  8. 1. Yay for them. Assuming AJ will be gone after WM I would assume.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Lee/Punk: Cool for them. Anyone know AJ's contract status?
YES!: NO! It's already been said below, but "organic" growth is no longer allowed. Corporate wrestling, folks.
    DGUSA: Very cool.

    I chose poorly lol.

There's absolutely no link between "Fandangoing" and the Yes chants.
The Fandango chant was something that one drunk crowd (which I was in! Fuck that was fun.) did to amuse themselves and it tangentially involved a wrestler that nobody gave half a mouse's shit about. Whether WWE co-opted it or not that chant was dead next week because nobody in the crowd cared about Fandango.

The Yes chants are how the fans cheer for their favorite wrestler on the roster.
People will stop chanting Yes when they dont like Daniel Bryan anymore.

  13. Ha, you fucker.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Just watched the HHH segment. Holy shit that was great. HHH and Stephanie were awesome

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm still contemplating on watching this. At least the first few matches prior to the tragedy because I've heard the Xpac/Kane vs. D'Lo/Henry match was really good.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm going to guess that AJ will also be leaving the company shortly, only after the Mania bonus check clears.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wow.. can't believe I FELL for that.

  20. I was going to say I quit the site as a joke but decided not to.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I watched it, but it's surreal to see all of the cuts they made and how effectively they erased the incident from the show.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey, remember when 'what' died months after it began?

    ReplyDelete
  23. That might be due to the Martha Hart lawsuit and whatever the settlement was.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Has anyone here watched the show? I cant imagine wanting to relive that night at all. I mean to each their own, but having ordered & watched it live...ugh, no thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Worst_in_the_WorldApril 1, 2014 at 9:07 AM

Oh they were great. That video did exactly what it needed to do--- made me want to pay to see this guy get his ass kicked in a wrestling match. Fucking perfect.

Mania's pretty much a 3 match show (Bryan/HHH, the title match, and Wyatt/Cena) but I'll take it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. According to sources within the WWE, AJ Lee and Punk are now engaged. AJ was reported to have worn an engagement ring backstage last night. She was teased and called a "mark" for taking marriage so seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Worst_in_the_WorldApril 1, 2014 at 9:09 AM

So AJ gets jobbed out and released soon, or do they still kep the title on her a few more months and try to get Punk back for at least one more match on the June Chicago PPV?

Personally I think she's "safe" til after that PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The fans didn't ignore Fandango; the WWE did nothing to push it into the mainstream when that goofy song was on the iTunes charts.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Eh, here's my review. I tried to remain fair, but it that finale made it really hard not to just rant.

    http://www.rickey.org/met-mother-series-finale-recap-review-last-forever/

I didn't really it or anything, but this pretty much killed any desire I might have had to revisit the series down the line.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Damn you I am overwhelmed by their cuteness.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Why would she get released?

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Love-Matic Grampa!April 1, 2014 at 9:16 AM

I was going to make that same joke, but decided against it. Bad move on my part.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah, if anything, they'd pull the Owen deal and bitterly refuse to release her.

    ReplyDelete
  34. To be fair, so was Owen.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I fell for it hook, line and sinker. Clearly 4 small coffees was not nearly enough.

    ReplyDelete
  36. They wont even release JTG. They keep everyone once they are on teh main roster

    ReplyDelete
  37. But, because of the WWE Network and the new payout structure, she will not get any bonus check. In fact, the majority of the wrestlers will have to fork over a Cheque to WWE instead!

(sorry, i just couldn't help myself. Ok, i'm not sorry at all)

    ReplyDelete
  38. (I'm better than this... fuck it, no I'm not.)

Oh, they'd eventually release her... the same way Owen was "released".

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm still looking forward to Taker/Brock, to see if they can build a good story. And the Battle Royale should be fun too. So, 5 match show for me.

    ReplyDelete
  40. You can't help stupid. You just gotta hope it either fades eventually, or self-destructs with no collateral damage.

In your case... I can see it fading, some day, maybe. Stennick just went nova.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The WWE trotted him out and made him try to lead the fans and that killed him. They couldnt leave what they had alone

    ReplyDelete
  42. Stennick needs to be unbanned

    ReplyDelete
  43. Seriously, eh? I mean, it was over a month ago now. And I still see daily mentions of him. That says something.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I maintain that they could've either have him lead it alone or get *angry* that people were mocking "the art of the dance" by their singing. It might not have rocketed him through the stratosphere but he likely would've been more over than previous.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I hate myself for chuckling. I really do.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Pushing it would have been the dumbest thing... if anything, Honky Tonk it. Good or bad, let him act like it's all good, and let the fans deal with it as they will.

If it collapses, then oh well. If it keeps gaining steam, hey, you got lucky. RUN with it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. He was entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think everyone if forgetting that Fandango got a concussion which derailed his push completely. They gave his spot on the card to the freshly called up Curtis Axel.

    ReplyDelete
  49. But again, had they indeed left it alone, people would have complained that WWE doesn't care what the fans want. So it was lose-lose.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Battle royals are never fun until it's down to six people.

    ReplyDelete
  51. To be fair, he was never going to be over much more than he was and the show after Mania was a one-time thing, really.

But still, that RAW when they trotted him out there made officially killed his fan response so if they left it alone, the fans would have cheered more than what happened.

    ReplyDelete
  52. It was during the time when that Harlem Shake or Shuffle or whatever was topping the charts and I saw the Fandango theme as a way to get in on that racket. Maybe if he had a better match with Jericho it would have played out differently.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think what really killed it was trotting out JERRY LAWLER. If you want to make anything uncool, have Lawler run it into the ground. Thanks to him, I don't even think Boo-Tista is funny anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Lets not forget his "Fan-dan-go" pronunciation of his name after getting beat down, that helped him get over with the crowd. Then he sort of stopped doing that.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I feel pretty confident in Bryan winning over HHH. What do you guys think about Bryan getting the tapout?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Lawler is just awful nowadays.

    ReplyDelete
  57. He let Rick hold him back for too long.

    ReplyDelete
  58. TJ: How I met your mother....why are people complaining about "spoilers' when the show already aired? I get that people want to watch the ending, but don't get pissed at people that are commenting on a show THAT ALREADY WAS BROADCAST

    ReplyDelete
  59. If you dont want to be spoiled, then get off of the internet

    ReplyDelete
  60. The Love-Matic Grampa!April 1, 2014 at 9:36 AM

Pretty agree with everything you said, well done.

The "31" stuff did annoy me, though. Like they really couldn't have brought back one of Barney's past conquests from past seasons to fill the role? And there was no follow-up! I wanted to see Old Barney interact with an older Ellie and we got nada.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Its better to come to a live thread and complain that you don't want to be spoiled by something that people on said thread had watched.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I don't get it. Where's the review?

    ReplyDelete
  63. To me, spoilers last 6 hours. i.e. they can be posted 6 hours after the show airs. People that whine almost 15 hours after the show ended are idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Win? LOL.
    Tapout? LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I hated it. He finally finds true love and happiness, she dies, and it turns out that's okay because was in love with the woman who rejected him all along so now he can give it another chance since his wife is, thankfully, dead.

    ReplyDelete
  66. The Love-Matic Grampa!April 1, 2014 at 9:40 AM

    So you're saying...Owen Released Owen?

I'm going to Hell. Straight to Hell.

    ReplyDelete
  67. http://www.rspwfaq.net/2012/05/assorted-may-per-view-countdown-wwf_24.html

    ReplyDelete
  68. I was annoyed because the show had just aired less than a few hours beforehand, I hadn't watched it and won't be able to until tonight. I wasn't expecting several different points of the live Raw thread on a wrestling blog to spoil the show right after it happened.

We usually show a little more restraint than that and it was a little upsetting.

    ReplyDelete
  69. There should be SOME restraint on social media though. I hated talking to a friend of mine on Facebook chat and getting both the fourth season finale of Dexter spoiled for me, as well as the Red Wedding.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Say hi to Eddie for me.

    ReplyDelete
  71. It'll be 'dropping' in later.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I watch it now and then. Don't see the big deal, really. And the show is OK. Not great not horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yep, cause a heel HHH would NEVER tap out at Wrestlemania. That would be laughable! *CoughWM20and22cough*

    ReplyDelete
  74. A lot of us feel like Owen today.

    We "fell" for it.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Worst_in_the_WorldApril 1, 2014 at 9:47 AM

Anyone else watched/listened to the press conference?

Wanna know why Cena is never turning heel? Check out his segment on the press conference.

    ReplyDelete
  76. This engagement topic gave me an idea for a new Network show where Hulk, Flair, and Matt Hardy give relationship advice while drinking heavily.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I have not watched a single episode, but I might go through them all, as I'm halfway through the final season of Cheers, and will need a new Sitcom.

With that said, I probably won't remember any spoilers 2 months from now. But yep, HIMYM is a definite candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  78. The Love-Matic Grampa!April 1, 2014 at 9:48 AM

You know who spoiled it for me? CBS This Morning, after I diligently avoided the internet and the news last night because I knew I wouldn't be able to watch live. And after all that, what was the first thing I saw this morning? The "big reveal" during their "Your World In 90 Seconds" preview. After that, I decided to go OnDemand and watch the damn thing.

    ReplyDelete
  79. And Bret Screwed Bret!

    ReplyDelete
  80. The rock basically no selling a broken arm during a 10 minute HHH attack is particularly absurd.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I give it as much of a chance as my theory that Hogan will end up with the title at the end of the show. I know that's not what's going to happen, but I still think it SHOULD happen.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Porn-Peddling Jef VinsonApril 1, 2014 at 9:51 AM

The first one is an April Fools joke....right?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Not sure who ended up worse off there...

    ReplyDelete
  84. He should pin Triple H, make Orton tap out, then win whatever gimmick match (Last Man Standing?) they do with Batista at Extreme Rules.

    ReplyDelete
  85. CM Punk buddy, it's not too late to run away. You'll have no choice but to come back to wrestling once she takes half your money...

    ReplyDelete
  86. Waiting for the page to load I was like, "So is this gonna be a Scott Sez?" Then the blank space below the hosts never filled in and so I thought maybe it was disqus freezing things up. Then I scrolled down and realized I'm dumb...

    ReplyDelete
  87. Why should people show restraint after watching something that was just aired? Because "restraint" and "social media" are words that will never go in the same sentence.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Porn-Peddling Jef VinsonApril 1, 2014 at 9:57 AM

HHH beats the brakes off DBry only to get pinned with a fluke rollup. HHH goes ballistic afterwards and tenderizes him with the sledgehammer.. DBry goes into the main event hurt which builds him up even more to pull off the feel good win.
HHH pins him the next night on RAW.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I thought it would have been a perfect time to bring back Nora.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I've never watched it either, although I caught the end when the Pearl Jam song played that one episode, so as a huge PJ fan, I thought that was cool. But otherwise, yeah, never seen it. I won't spoil cheers for you as I never thought Sam would pitch again.

    ReplyDelete
  91. YOU BASTARD!!! YOU ARE CUT OFF FROM BEER FOREVER!!! (oh wait, you're not Norm, so it's not that big of a blow)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Honestly, I called the Mother being dead during last season, when there was that episode where he went to Robots vs. Wrestlers alone, and claims he should have went to the Mother's that night. He says something to her like "I wish I could have had those extra 45 days with you".

    ReplyDelete
  93. Man this joke really fell flat and splattered

    ReplyDelete
  94. The Love-Matic Grampa!April 1, 2014 at 9:59 AM

Craig Freguson totally should have gotten the TPIR gig.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I bet there is someone legit wondering that

    ReplyDelete
  96. If you're watching Cheers, you need to immediately watch Frasier afterward.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Porn-Peddling Jef VinsonApril 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM

No, the harness released Owen. It was heard backstage bitching about being tired of carrying him.
*reserves the Adolf Hitler Suite in Hell*

    ReplyDelete
  98. Oh, and since no one else has said anything...

CALLING PARALLAX! CALLING PARALLAX! Please report to the sky blue courtesy phone. You have a new target.

It means AJ Lee with a wedding ring will be more appealing to Parallax.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Porn-Peddling Jef VinsonApril 1, 2014 at 10:03 AM

Already got to it (Scroll to the very bottom)

    ReplyDelete
  102. I don't consider the BoD to be "social media," although I may be using a more stringent definition. This isn't a HIMYM blog, and I know I wasn't the only one who was planning to watch later. I was following along with the live thread to discuss Raw.

I've never seen the BoD so openly spoil a show before, not like that, anyway. Two days later, I've managed to avoid Walking Dead spoilers; I have managed to avoid Breaking Bad spoilers in the months since it ended. But last night, it was all over the blog, and it was annoying.

Maybe I overreacted last night. I'll get over it and I hope I didn't piss anyone off (sorry, Abeyance!).

    ReplyDelete
  103. Did even the reporters boo him? Or did they trot out sick kids again?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Definitely one of my top picks also. Not sure if the Frasier Crane character alone can keep my interest though. I might try out 1 season.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Thanks johntcole... the crazy thing is, even TNA won't take him (think about what THAT's saying). And it's a shame, because, before he decided to inflate himself like Puf-N-Stuf, he was actually a pretty damn capable big man. Now, he can barely move.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I love watching Petey Williams face during the thing, as you can tell he is just thinking ... "What the hell is he talking about?'

    ReplyDelete
  107. The disintegration of Scott Steiner is one of the saddest things in wrestling to me. He was the most exciting wrestler in the world at one time. He was WAY ahead of his time.

    ReplyDelete
  108. They should have pushed him as the main guy in the New Blood, not Jarrett. At least that way when everything there went to shit they would have at least had a monster, popular heel and could have had a big title match with Goldberg at Starrcade. Of course Russo would have fucked it up anyway, but watcha gonna do?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Steiner would not have been given a free pass to give his shoot style interview to guys like Austin & Rock, they were laid with real life, hard hitting insults that most top guys won't let be said about themselves. So in that regard, he may have HAD to lose. But in the ring and athletically-wise I think Pump would have had hard-hitting intense brawls with the usual technical spots sprinkled in.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I disagree. Back then, to hang with rock, Austin and the others, you had to have crazy intense cardio because they cut a fast pace. I haven't seen any evidence that Scott could do so once he became a veiny beast. The matches looked very kick punchy but they were intense and had little if any rest spots.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Yah he destroyed his body and who knows what else. He also seems totally content. He just comes across as a guy who absolutely knew what he was doing & didn't care. He was living his dream and feeling unstoppable. Living that fast life, living your dream, and being content with any consequences.....man sign me up for that.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I think it would have been too late. When the New Blood startet, WCW was already down. They should have pushed the "new blood" in 98 when still somebody cared.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Well they were trying like hell to get Steiner over in 1999 and absolutely no one cared at all b/c he didn't have the character down yet.

But seriously, 1998 is like the ultimate corrective to anyone *cough Dougie cough* who want to argue that Bischoff and Hogan are anything but cancer to a wrestling organization: Having Goldberg and Jericho circa late-1998 should have been a license to print money...but instead they just had to keep Hogan, Nash, and Bischoff at the top of the product.
