Network Playlist/Wrestling Card

A few of us have been talking about how a playlist feature you can share with other users would be a great addition to The Network. Of course with that you'll get many "Best of (wrestler)" or "Best of (PPV)" and so on. But what about creating an entire eight match card through a playlist? Set up a wrestling card but using all the matches throughout the years from WWE, WCW and ECW. Have:

A hot opening match
A lower card title match (Cruiser, Euro, TV)
A tag team match (not for a title though)
A mid card title match (IC, US)
A solid mid card match (or you could put a women's match here)
A tag team title match
A grudge/gimmick match
A main event title match (WWF/E, World, ECW)

Of course, try not to use the same wrestler twice. The formula above can be changed but it should still resemble a wrestling card. What would you put together?

Pillman v. Liger from Superbrawl II
Dean Malenko v. Scotty from Backlash 2000
Midnights v. Midnights from Starrcade 88
Lex Luger v. Stan Hansen bullrope match from Starrcade 90
Trish v. Lita from RAW 2004
Rock v. Roll Express v. Koloffs from Starrcade 85
Magnum TA v. Tully Blanchard from Starrcade 85
Hulk Hogan v. Randy Savage from Wrestlemania V

  1. I wonder if they want to refer to them as specials instead of PPVs because of the introduction of the WWE Network. They are pushing the network so hard and are putting the "specials" on the network. It might be part of their strategy to distance themselves from the traditional PPV model and continue to move towards a more independent offering through their own network.

  2. You know what they should do for the Network? Bring back Saturday Night's Main Event.

As Scott said, they can't move the dates of the PPVs/specials...but they could add MORE specials. And they don't have a Saturday night show...add in a SNME like 6 times a year. Just promote one or two matches for it, fill the rest out with midcard guys you want to push and voila more content for the Network.

  3. Thanks for answering the Question Scott, though I was asking more for next year or the year after. I have thought that the house show idea would be good too. It's been talked about on the boards to bring back special house shows like King of the Ring and things like the Crockett Cup. Have a hot city and do a special annual house show that has some gimmick like a tourney every year and have it on the network.

  4. Maybe they could do a special where all of the matches take place inside of a Steel Cage? That sounds like an original idea!

  5. The idea of exclusive house shows sounds really cool. Go even farther with it and tape some of those European tour shows, like they used to do for Colosseum Video, and offer those up as exclusives.

  6. I would love to see some live events shown as they happen on the network.

  7. If anything I would like to see "special events" on Saturday instead on Sunday. I've said this about wrestling PPVs and the Super Bowl for years.

"What I COULD see them doing is filming house shows as a network exclusive as something to put on there."

  11. They need to get more of those episodes uploaded. I saw that 1993 is starting to fill up.
