A plug for a fellow Pulse writer?

Hi Scott, you've always been so kind about plugging my work in the past, and I was wondering if you would be so kind as to plug my latest venture - an e-book with reviews of the first year of shows from Dragon Gate USA and EVOLVE. This is content that can't be found anywhere else, so any help in getting the word out would be greatly appreciated.

The book can be purchased here - http://amzn.to/1uHfPNT.

Thanks!

  1. How did they forget how to market guys like him? He's an attraction. Have him come out a few times a year for battle royals and the rest of the time he can save faces with a few chops and then dance.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Well, that stinks.

    ReplyDelete
  3. He was over that night.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think the referee thing is interesting. As a fan base, we're so used to seeing familiar faces as refs, and perhaps WWE likes that idea as well, but would anyone really give a damn if they were gone tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  5. I don't know if I'd fire refs. They work with the wrestlers and know the way they flow in the ring. They understand any cue WWE gives. They're more seasoned than indy guys. Plus, I don't know if I'd trust some random indy ref on a live show. Between mistakes and intentional sabotage, that's not a risk I'd be willing to take.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah, it's not like he draws.

    ReplyDelete
  7. If Chioda is fired I will burn Stamford to the ground.

    ReplyDelete
  8. The fact that he is still around surprises me.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I heard he's been poaching WWE collector cups from the stands after live events and selling them on eBay. He's a goner.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:08 PM

Miz, Khali, Del Rio, Tensai (is he still there?), Otunga, Rey Rey, Ryder... that's 7, pick 2 random chicks not named "AJ" and there you go.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeah, Ricardo was a perfect Spanish commentator.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Axel, Sandow, Titus, Young and Sin Cara.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I wonder if this will lead to an increase in jobbers. They might find it more cost effective to pay indy guys $100 a show instead of needing a bigger roster to feature more 'name vs. name' matches.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Fire the damn sound technician who keeps playing people's music during matches!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Randy Orton.

Seriously, cut Randy Orton. Since first winning the title ten(!) years ago, a good 80% of his time as a main-eventer has been... let's say "uninspiring". If he had spent most of that time as a mid-carder, making mid-card money and having 50/50 angles, fine, but as a guy that has been counted on for YEARS to be the #2 guy on the roster?

Whatever they're paying him, it's not worth it. Again, over the couse of TEN SOLID YEARS, how many PPVs and T-shirts did he really sell? He's really worth millions of dollars AND all of the headaches?

    ReplyDelete
  16. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:12 PM

It would be really weird to be without Chioda. He's had a longer tenure with the company than Earl did.

    ReplyDelete
  17. If Lil' Naitch is fired we riot.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Miz is doing good work right now, and ADR is one of the best wrestlers they have. Keep them in the midcard working with some of the rising stars.

ADR got a good match out of Reigns last week, Reigns and even Ambrose need good matches.

    ReplyDelete
  19. During the day of the last roster chop, many were speculating that Jack Swagger might be done for. Now he's in a legit midcard feud drawing heat. It's crazy what simple, solid booking can do for someone.

    ReplyDelete
  20. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:12 PM

    Because that's going to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  21. ADR has developed into a real nice worker, but his character is so beyond dead it's not even funny. It's a shame.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:13 PM

I'd have to think that of all the regulars he's gotta be the second highest paid behind Cena. I wouldn't miss him.

    ReplyDelete
  23. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:13 PM

Are they for sure cutting 10% of the roster or WWE employees as a whole?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm fine with that. Have one jobber match per hour on RAW. Give the name guy a little promo time and that's that.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Chioda is an institution within the WWE. I'm a fan of the guy and it would be strange if he weren't around.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hunico can take a hike as well.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Indy shows do fine with 2 refs working the whole show. Keep Chioda and Robinson and jettison the rest. We're cutting to the bone here, man!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:15 PM

Supposedly ADR is leaving anyway, and they've totally fucked his character to the point of no return. I'm more than willing to bet if they offered him his release he'd take it. And Miz just sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  29. *giddy Ron Swanson laughter*

    ReplyDelete
  30. Cutting guys is good for a short-term fix but it does not resolve any main issues. By the time those issues are addressed the company will be beyond repair so just keep getting rid of talent.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:16 PM

What's that in Japanese? Ship his ass back to NJPW.

    ReplyDelete
  32. He was rumored to be leaving for a while. Not sure why he is still there.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'd be fine with having two and thats it. They work the lion's share of important matches anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Extending the deal for Rey during money trouble is insane.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:18 PM

Waiting for his contract to run out, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The Rock is still listed in the superstars section of the website lol.

Anyway, of the people Scott didn't mention, Christian, Lawler (or at least bump him down to a legends deal and get him off TV), Justin Gabriel, R-Truth, Summer Rae, Tamina, & R-Truth. I'd also say you only really need one announcer, and whoever it is, it shouldn't be Justin Roberts because I hate his voice and especially the way he emphasises the T in "OrTon"

    ReplyDelete
  37. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:18 PM

They should bring in that fat ass that refs for RoH.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lawler should have enough money to be okay at this point. Send him on his way.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:18 PM

And basically doing it without his consent, no less.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Stranger in the AlpsJuly 30, 2014 at 6:20 PM

I think John Cena gets cut.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I would keep Hunico just because he beat up Sheamus.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Add Hunico and I think the fat has been cut.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Jerry Lawler should be on any list of cuts. He should be gone from the booth and legend deal only.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:20 PM

I totally forgot Christian still worked there.

RVD can go too, he's not drawing flies to shit. And as much as I hate to say it, Jericho is in the same boat.

    ReplyDelete
  45. So did Yoshi Tatsu and he got cut.

    ReplyDelete
  46. We won't notice when the refs are gone but I think the wrestlers would. During live shows I'd just watch the ref out of boredom and found that he walks guys through matches sometimes, the green ones anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  47. That's my point - it SHOULD happen, but won't. For whatever completely inexplicable reason.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Nuncio may be next then.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I really wish they'd cut Cameron, she's just awful.

    ReplyDelete
  50. He should have kept around too then.

    ReplyDelete
  51. If only they cut Hornswoggle.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I can't wait for Sheamus to cut in front of KENTA at catering and get kicked in the chest so hard the mark is still there a month later.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:22 PM

Yeah, the ref is just as important as the wrestlers. If anything, they should be the last to go. I doubt they're making huge coin and shit.

    ReplyDelete
  54. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:23 PM

It's not as easy to be a main eventer as we make it out to be.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ryder, Fandango, most of the Divas, Titus, Xavier, Axel, Rose, Riley, Kidd, R-Truth, Sandow, all the announcers except Renee Young and Wiiliam Regal (who should be calling RAW), Darren a Young, Otunga, and both Matadors would be a good start.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Protein mixer on a pole match.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:23 PM

Cut that other midget too, it's 2014 and this isn't fucking Mexico.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hopefully catering will still be in the budget because that would be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  59. We know you're in no shape to wrestle ever again but we want you to make up dates you physically can't do. Huh?

Also...whose genius idea was it to shoot him out of that entrance cannon? No wonder his knees are destroyed.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The Matadors aren't adding anything to the roster.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'm sure there are a lot of useless butt kissers on the top floor of Titan Towers that need walking papers. Why not get rid of some of them? If the network flopped this bad why not get rid of the idiotic business people?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah they can stick Torito with someone else to make a few kids laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  63. ALberuuu JASOOOOOOOOOOOON

    ReplyDelete
  64. Fire Adam Rose 9 times. But not before the JBL/6 Foot Rabbit blowoff match.

    Then Fire JBL.

    ReplyDelete
  65. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:25 PM

    Never eeeeeever

    ReplyDelete
  66. As some else said in another thread, fire Rose's entourage.

    ReplyDelete
  67. You mean those yes men like John Laurinaitis?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Darren Young has a job just for being gay. How weird is that in pro wrestling?

The times they are a changin'

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'd probably fire then rehire Alberto Del Rio 8 times... then fire him again.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Will he be the same agan....

    ReplyDelete
  71. Unpopular choice alert: Christian

    ReplyDelete
  72. Posts like this make me miss Scott rants.

    ReplyDelete
  73. A low midcarder with an entourage is insane when they can't transport a curtain.

    ReplyDelete
  74. How sick would it be if WWE began firing wrestlers by tweeting them with that YouTube compilation of Vince screaming "YOU'RE FIRED!" for ten minutes?

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm sure they could save a lot of money by making their new home in the Impact Zone--err Raw Zone.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Yes, those guys and whatever other useless butt kissers are around.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I have a feeling Ryder is going to be in this group.

    ReplyDelete
  78. The Colons are truly wrestling's most worthless family. Their dad is an accomplice to murder and their brother is a big piece of shit who welches on indie dates.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:27 PM

    He fucking should be.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Yeah, cutting all the Refs would be foolish. It's a legit skill to be a good one, plus they do a lot of other crap like setting up the ring. I also doubt they are making all that much compared to, say, a vanity corporate jet.

    ReplyDelete
  81. He brings nothing to the table right now. It's over, broski.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:28 PM

You know what's sad? He's not even CLOSE to being the biggest scumbag in PR.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Oh, I'm not saying it's easy, and I'll definitely give Orton some props - he's overcome a LOT of injuries, and seems to have gotten his head on straight over the last few years (seemingly when he become a father).

That said, there are a ton of people on the roster that work every bit as hard as him, do the same road schedule, do the media rounds, love wrestling to their very cores, and also consistently put on good matches and/or cut good promos, AND don't throw temper-tantrums on live TV when something doesn't go as planned.

Not everybody can do what John Cena does, but I think there have been a number of people over the last ten years who could have been (or would be) a better #2 than him.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I think Christian might have a future career as a color guy, so I'd keep him around.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I need to emphasize that if anybody should be out of a job, it should be JBL, because he's fucking useless.

    ReplyDelete
  86. You go ahead and fire the black ref, you racist.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Lawler is worse

    ReplyDelete
  88. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:30 PM

Sad thing is he's the sort of guy that would be pushed hard in TNA, but...

Wait a second, nothing about that is sad.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Also, as not great as Lawler has become, he doesn't out right hurt the product in the ring the JBL does. I'd be happy seeing JBL cut.

    ReplyDelete
  90. It's too bad, because he just brought it at first. But now he has gone beyond a Vince puppet.

    ReplyDelete
  91. What if they fired Barrett?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Keep JBL, fire Lawler.

Or fire them both and promote WIlliam Regal to the top show.

    ReplyDelete
  93. They won't use him that way. Vince is about as much of a fan as I am. They won't give him that much TV time. TNA would pick him up anyway if they don't fold.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I don't understand why either. it's not like he needs the job.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Yeah, let Lawler go back to booking a Memphis territory and drawing lewd cartoons. He doesn't do any research before shows and doesn't even keep up with the product. He brings nothing to the table and no one is watching RAW to see Lawler.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'm afraid I've got some bad news...

    ReplyDelete
  97. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:31 PM

That's like saying being punched in the face is worse than being kicked in the gut.

And we're talking about shitty commentators, and you guys are talking about King and JBL when Cole is RIGHT THERE?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Cole is a made man. I'm not sure how but he's never getting fired.

    ReplyDelete
  99. The Colons deserve a fate of the Harts and Von Erichs combined. Fuck all them and thewhole scum PR wwrestling scene.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Cut Roberts and keep Lillian Garcia. At least she can also sing the national anthem, so that saves down on costs right there.

    ReplyDelete
  101. They need to fire Cole as well, but we all know that's not going to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  102. To be fair, his entourage is actually a bunch of the backstage crew (and a few developmental people) - it's not like they're paid ONLY to dance to the ring. They're just wardrobe and ring-crew people putting on a wacky costume for five minutes before returning to their usual duties.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Torito with Swagger and Zeb would be funny.

    ReplyDelete
  104. They should have Barrett do the firing.

    "Hey Wade, what's going on?"

"Well Zach, I'm afraid I've got some bad new....."

    ReplyDelete
  105. After the first commercial break:

    "Did you know?"
ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE FIRED. _______________________________

    ReplyDelete
  106. He is a master of plugging the apps.

    ReplyDelete
  107. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:33 PM

That's fair enough. While I've longed tired of Orton I have to imagine it's not easy being a top guy when your boss is Vince McMahon.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Justin Gabriel never got a fair shake. Tamina should be cut but it's kind of cold blooded when she's hurt so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  109. And then we get a backstage segment where HHH fires Sandow.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:34 PM

I wouldn't call him racist, I mean, he lives in northern Canada for fucks sake, he probably sees a black guy once every couple years. People are afraid of unfamiliar things, it's a natural reaction.

    ReplyDelete
  111. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:34 PM

I'd miss him if I ever saw him.

    ReplyDelete
  112. ......dressed up like Steph.

    ReplyDelete
  113. They run angles for people that are quitting but have they ever made someone they are firing work an angle about it?

    ReplyDelete
  114. That's what they can show on the network.

    ReplyDelete
  115. RVD and Jericho are temporary. Cutting them saves nothing. I'm glad both are WWE "family" since they do have use in some capacity.

Plus Jericho has an HOF headlining level career.

    ReplyDelete
  116. That'll teach that son of a bitch to get over! But I agree, at this point, he's too far gone.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Foley? Maddox?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Was Maddox fired?

    ReplyDelete
  119. After getting killed by Kane.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I’ve been going back and reading some of your (Scott's) old stuff on IP, and it’s almost impossible because of their weird text formatting issues.Â

    ReplyDelete
  121. TNA has THREE guys who are a ripoff of Ryder. Plus his real name is a better Guido name anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:37 PM

And the wrestling itself SUCKS. I don't think I've ever seen a match from PR that hit **.

Random: why is "PR" (as an adjective towards a person) considered a racial slur? I mean, if you were Cuban or Chicano or whatever I could understand not liking it, but it's just an abbreviation.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I don't even remember that. He always disappeared and came back so I assumed he was just off tv.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Fair point.

I'd have to imagine that Vince respects Orton's no-fucks-given attitude. Kinda like Shawn Michaels.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I'm keeping it realistic. Cole is going nowhere.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I didn't realise she was hurt. I only left Darren Young off that list because he's on the shelf and I thought that'd be a bit cold (not that that's ever stopped them before)

    ReplyDelete
  127. Severe cost cutting move: Fire the entire commentary team and just have Vince do it with CM Punk.

    ReplyDelete
  128. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:39 PM

    He's still an employee.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Severe is a synonym for awesome now?

    ReplyDelete
  130. WWE needs to put every dollar into the network working. If they can pawn the bunny suit for 50 bucks it is 50 toward the network.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Alright, I remember that one. Was that the match against Bradshaw?

    ReplyDelete
  132. It's probably happened to JR once or twice.

    ReplyDelete
  133. And I'm not really sure how my plan cuts costs because you have to put Punk back on the payroll. Still, the improved quality = more Network subs AND Vince can do the jobs of 3 people.

    ReplyDelete
  134. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:40 PM

    He can probably just retire.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:41 PM

They don't have any use though. Jericho is good for the return pop, but the thing is surprise returns don't draw anything, because they're a surprise. And he has no rub to give, that died when he jobbed clean to Fandango, if not before. RVD has no rub to give either, plus he sucks and he's drawn money for about 2 months of his non-ECW career.

    ReplyDelete
  136. That's OK. Those guys can just go to TNA...oh.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Lawler seems barely awake or alert during shows. I think he's quietly masturbating to the pornhub app on his phone in the corner. He's Heenan WCW no fucks given level.

    ReplyDelete
  138. It may be strange to say but it would probably help WWE if Vince were a SHITTIER person. There's probably so much money tied up in people who add little to the company but Vince keeps them around out of loyalty/whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Yep, right when he switched to JBL... a couple weeks after Mania I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  140. It must be killing Dixie that all of these WWE cuts are happening and she can't scoop them all up

    ReplyDelete
  141. Adam "Colorado" CurryJuly 30, 2014 at 6:42 PM

People mention Christian as one of the guys that should be cut, and I agree. So put him on commentary, I think he'd be pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Stranger in the AlpsJuly 30, 2014 at 6:42 PM

Cut all the wrestlers and turn it into The Levesque Family Chronicles. Let's follow Paul to the electric company as he disputes his bill. Watch what happens when Stephanie asks Paul what the "score of the match" is. Then we can peek in on Grampa Vince trying to find an investor for his homemade hooch.

    ReplyDelete
  143. At least Heenan would spar with Tony so that gives him points over Lawler.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Ah the match that gave us JBL. If ever a single match were to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, surely Bradshaw vs. Farooq giving us the blowoff of the APA and the birth of JBL would be that match.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Simmons was right back as a part timer right away and he super earned his firing.

    ReplyDelete
  146. That's what I've been arguing as well. Eliminate JBL and Lawler and put Christian in there. It might work, it might not, but it is worth a shot.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Literally LOL'd.

    ReplyDelete
  148. She's probably trying to tell Spike that if they just give TNA a chance that they can get all these "new" talents!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Anyone here ever play EWR? Remember how at the beginning of the game, after day one, if you were controlling another promotion, WWE would release like 50 individuals to trim the dead weight? This reminds me of that.

Ideally I'd nix Rose, Christian, Darren Young, Otunga, Khali, Hornswoggle, Mysterio, El Torito, Ryder, Lawler, Rosa Mendes, Chimel, Lilian, Riley, Booker T, Brad Maddox, Saxton, Jason Albert, Tom Phillips, Rich Brennan, half the refs, Corey Graves (shame about his concussions), Marcus Louis, Buddy Murphy, Cal Bishop, Sylvester LeFort and Ty Dillinger. I'd also close the money pit that is WWE Studios. And how many damn trainers do they need? Get rid of, oh, I don't know, Dinsmore and Robbie Brookside.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Don't forget about the Korean one!

    ReplyDelete
  151. PR is a racial slur?

Yeah I have no idea why such a huge wrestling hotbed is so consistently shitty. The place itself is a crime ridden slum occasionally interrupted by resorts on pretty blue water and a rainforest here and there.

    ReplyDelete
  152. LA + NE = LANE. It's the triumphant return of Stan Lane to the announce booth.

    ReplyDelete
  153. You leave Brookside alone, you bastard!

    ReplyDelete
  154. I remember one dude did an EWR parody for 411 back in the day and his goal was to destroy the WWF. He booked the worst shows he could think of, one of which featured the Big Bossman winning 9 battle royals, and as ratings declined he had a hilarious part about "Well, we know who is responsible for all of this..." and proceeded to fire Steve Austin.

My other fun EWR memory is that I started working at Phoenix Championship Wrestling and since I didn't really understand the finances of the game, I booked a show that ran them $500k in debt (one show!). Things looked bleak, but Harley Race messaged me after the show and said he loved my work and I bolted. The promotion (Phoenix one) went under 2 weeks later, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I pointed this out (during Battleground I think) that Robinson is the only employee left from the acquisition of WCW in 2001 (Booker T left then came back).

    ReplyDelete
  156. Very few people in the business have a bad word to say about Brookside. Keep him & get rid of DeMott.

    ReplyDelete
  157. TM CooltrainerBretJuly 30, 2014 at 6:47 PM

I think those were all dev releases because the AI didn't know how to use a dev fed.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Will there be any big name whooper shocker firing tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  159. The only guys from that list that made me think, "That's harsh," were Del Rio, Hunico, and Stanford. But there really isn't a place for Del Rio in the upper mid card anymore, Stanford has been kinda sorta phased out for the last year in favor of the indistinguishable duo of Saxton and Phillips, and Hunico is a victim of circumstance that may not flourish under either gimmick he's been given. I'm still a fan of the three I mentioned.

They should probably stop flying Booker T to Stamford, CT, every week, too. Until Jericho leaves, I'd love it if their pre-game show was just Jericho and Christian BS'ing and if the subject of wrestling came up, hey, maybe they can plug the upcoming Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  160. MikeyMike, WitnessJuly 30, 2014 at 6:48 PM

I think not. It's getting overblown.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I didn't know Young was hurt so we're even.

I think his gayness is keeping him in working boots. Is Tamina a not so closeted lesbian too?

    ReplyDelete

It blows my mind... Santino was OK on commentary... they have fucking Kevin Nash on the payroll, Christian, Paul Heyman, they're about to bring in Kevin Steen, Jericho would rock on commentary, Steve Corino is better than everyone they have now combined. Hell, if you HAVE to keep Miz employed... What the fuck?

All I know is I would watch a lot more WWE if I didn't have to do it on mute.

  163. If RAW is only drawing 3.0 ratings right now on the cusp of SummerSlam, imagine how bad things are going to get when the NFL season starts.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Seriously is the pre-show even wanted or needed? Why can't two suits just do the pre-show instead of former wrestlers that I'm sure are on huge deal.

  165. Norman Smiley already fills the British trainer quota.

  166. It's mostly behind the scenes office workers that are being canned, right?

  167. They should hire me to do the pre-show. I've got lots of great ideas on how to make it legit.

  168. TJ: Sheamus is rumored to play Darth Vader in Episode 7.

Will he at some point melodramtically yell, BROOOOOOOOOGUE!! ?

  169. Not from the WWE roster, but I can see them doing something colossally stupid with the nxt roster like firing Sami Zain

  170. Naah, it was across the board. Mainly dev, yes, but announcers, referees, low card main roster talent... pretty sure the game just had a preset algorithm that set the number of names in each position on a roster depending on the level of the promotion (Global, National, Cult, etc.)

/still plays EWR from time to time

  171. If the point of the NXT rotating announce teams is to get someone enough experience that they can work the main shows, then maybe it's time to get rid of some of the main show announcers and move them up.

  172. I'm a Jericho mark even if this is the nadir of his career and his comeback was poorly timed (should have been Rumble to ER with him as D Bry's first challenger)

RVD doesn't bug me when they have 8 million hours a week to fill.

  173. I think he's denied that BUT if it was true, get ready for a 2-year long Sheamus title reign.

  174. I'd like to see Vince and HHH drive from town to town selling "McMahon and Son's Revitalizing Tonic".

Oh yeah, at least around here, even if the person is 100% Puerto Rican it's like dropping the n-bomb.

  178. I think Hunter has more control over the NXT roster than to let that happen.

  179. Darren Young is a keeper. If he ever gets good enough in the ring, he can be the gay hero wrestling has never ever had

    ReplyDelete
  180. I think Tony Schiavonne should allow people to get absolutely bombed on Popov and let people have word slurring arguments with him at wrestling conventions. Heenan 99 simulator.

  181. Isn't NXT HHH's baby?

  182. I wasn't watching the product, but it seemed to be another McMahon family feud. I know Linda ended up throwing in that towel in that match or something.

  183. Take a load off with us. I would say watch the Yanks but they are losing. At least you guys didn't take Masterson off Cleveland's hands.

  184. Not with his present gimmick. I think after Rusev jobs to Cena in the fall he's done.

  185. Damn I just finished the last Raw before WrestleMania X-8(still got Smackdown to go) and that show may have one of the overall worst builds to a WrestleMania or at least the most frustrating.

First, they only had about 3 weeks from No Way Out to WrestleMania in order to build the damn show and that just isn't enough.

But the way they went about building everything was just baffling. I'll get the good out there first, I liked the build to Flair/Undertaker. The way the story was built Flair winning made sense but the streak trumped that. It also turned out to be a good match.

But with the NWO matches. They could have built it as the NWO terrorizing Rock and Austin and overwhelming them for weeks using their numbers advantage until the huge moment where Rock and Austin finally team up to fight them on Raw before Mania. They went that direction but the execution was just baffling. They get the huge face-to-face between Rock and Hogan down but it all goes downhill from there. NWO tries to commit vehicular homicide and the Rock returns two weeks later with sore ribs. But then when dealing with Austin they either dominate him or come off as goofy cartoon characters dealing with Bugs Bunny. Austin uses oversized nets to capture Nash, he chases them around like Jason with a tire iron. It could have been amazing had it just been the NWO using their numbers to dominate WWF's two biggest stars.

Then....Jericho/Triple H. Jericho was picking up lotion, dog poop, and running over dogs while Triple H and Stephanie were bickering over divorce proceedings. Enough said.

Plus all the Shampoo Commercial stuff.

  186. I read somewhere it was leading towards an incest angle. Vince wanted Steph to quit as the GM of Smackdown and she wouldn't so he had Brock and himself beat the crap out of her.

  187. Sorry to hear about that. Let's hope those resumes do their job!

  188. does anyone think my lover cm punk is coming back, i miss him.

  189. I still can't believe the WWE ran that whole Sunny-Elmo skit in '97 or whatever.

  190. Soon as I put the game on just now, Ellsbury hit a home run. So, who knows? I'll be around a bit, but my girlfriend just finished taking the Bar Exam, so once I finish dinner I may just hit the sack.

  194. As much as the McMahon family is ultra interesting and impressive in how involved they get in such a physical business, it's kind of sad they've been dominating angles for 15 years now over you know "actual wrestlers)
