Cesaro Update
Cesaro, who was scheduled for a major face push this Summer, has had that put on hold. The decision had been made, before Bryan's injury, to push Reigns hard as a face along with Cena, Bryan, and Sheamus. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter was told by a source that Cesaro would get a face push "when we need it" and it is not scheduled to happen anytime soon.

Reason for Miz beating Sheamus on RAW
The reason for this happening is that they are going to start a feud based on the idea that Miz is obsessed with his face and Sheamus promising people that he will kick Miz's face in.

Not the face push we deserved but the face push we need.
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard that Miz was going to get pushed as a face, this was not what I had in mind.
ReplyDeleteSo... Cesaro was scheduled for a huge face run with 3 other wrestlers... But now that 1 of those 3 wrestlers is injured, meaning there might be an EXTRA spot for a face.... Cesaro's face push is now delayed??
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does that make ZERO sense?? Shouldn't it just make it even MORE likely that his face run will happen?
Putting Cesaro out there associating with Brock would be the one way to salvage the Heyman/Cesaro pairing so of course they are going to pretend it never existed when Brock comes back.
ReplyDeleteI dont what they have planned for Cesaro now but a push is certainly not part of it.
ReplyDeleteWell that's a stupid reason to have a feud.
ReplyDeleteUp vote for you finally critisizing WWE.
ReplyDeleteIt made zero sense because your reading comprehension is lack.
ReplyDeleteTry again, a bit more lowly.
Well to be fair, I was more criticizing Meltzer, but... Ok, ok, i'll let you have this one.
ReplyDeleteI've actually enjoyed The Miz since his return, these are truly the end times.
ReplyDeleteCesaro was on the cusp of exploding as a mega face and that's when they though they should solidify him as a midcard heel who trades wins and losses with Kofi Kingston - good stuff
ReplyDeleteUp vote rescinded.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I did re-read it, and it should have been 4 other wrestlers, but... Still makes no sense. They were hinting at a face run, despite 4 other faces, and now one extra spot is open. And that seems to make it less likely. Cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo!!
ReplyDeleteMe and my big mouth...
ReplyDeleteTrades wins? Has he beat Kofi recently?
ReplyDeleteMiz as a cocky heel whose face you wanna punch works. Because well... We all wanna punch him. So that mini feud with Sheamus does make perfect sense, and is a great use for the Miz.
ReplyDeleteCompletely dumb on the WWE's part.
ReplyDeleteYou strike while the iron is hot.
Now, he has cooled off to the point that I don't think you can ever get him back to the point where he was right after Mania.
And people wonder why the WWE struggles to create new stars
You'll see, next time they wrestle (and they will) he'll win
ReplyDeleteI actually came to that conclusion myself when I re-read your post.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like it, actually. Sometimes a thing like that sparks a fun midcard feud.
ReplyDeleteEh I can't come up with anything better for Miz or face Sheamus to do. That doesn't sound so bad for a feud.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that he was pushed hard as the US champ, then booked on a huge losing streak for like 6 months, while yodeling. Then he got super over again. Still am optimistic that he'll be huge, with his move set, he can easily be rebuilt at any point.
ReplyDeleteThat feud works for me.
ReplyDeleteI want my Rusev/Sheamus US title feud damnit!
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a good idea. I mean, it's so easy to replicate the kind of heat you get from slamming a 450-pound man over the top rope at the 30th anniversary edition of Wrestlemania.
ReplyDeleteHe was over huge after Mania and was getting cheers with the giant swing everytime he did the move.
ReplyDeleteNow, not so much
Yeah this whole idea (don't know if it's true or not) that the WWE is worried any one star will become 'bigger' than the WWE itself has pretty much ruined any chance there is of finding another big time star
ReplyDeleteSo we should direct all of our hate to Brock and Lashley.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Does anyone (else) feel that if they never ended the brand split Cesaro would still be getting a push?
ReplyDeleteIf another Rock happens, they want to make sure it is for their film studio only
ReplyDeleteThere are storylines, not "spots". Just because one person is injured, that doesn't mean that an extra "spot" opens up.
ReplyDeleteJohn Cena is doing what Daniel Bryan would have done. Nobody is in a position to do what John Cena otherwise would have done. Ergo, there is no extra "spot".
TJ: Tiger with a solid first round, 3 under par!!
ReplyDeleteWhen will he fuck it up though?
ReplyDeleteWhoopdee frickindoo. Let's see if he can still shoot one over when he's 64.
ReplyDeleteHow about hot-shotting the US title onto Swagger and doing a remake of the best of seven series?
ReplyDeleteSadly, I kind of agree... But just for fun, I made a $1 bet for him to win outright, 29-1. So I hope he's at least in contention by sunday, just for the fun of following it.
ReplyDeleteWhen will he fuck her up though?
ReplyDeleteFIFY
He said Tiger, not Chris Brown.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Arn Anderson's Dog Spot Liver spot MYYYY spot??
ReplyDeleteWhat about the rumors of CM Punk jumping to SSW?
ReplyDeleteAnyone actually watch the link to the Hart Timeline that I posted?
ReplyDelete*sigh*.... People need to understand that Punk was sick of Wrestling, period.
ReplyDeleteTJ: Apparently the WWE is cutting out Daniel Bryan from the upcoming WrestleMania Special on NBC. Because FUCK YOU.
ReplyDeleteMy sources are on it now.
ReplyDeleteI am calling SSW offices AS WE SPEAK
That timeline looks fantastic. Bayless you better be on that shit.
ReplyDeleteWhen will he fuck her though?
ReplyDeleteFIFM
Is it a WrestleMania 30 special?
ReplyDeleteIf so, that is nonsensical
Just did! Bret makes a great point about blading I never thought of before.
ReplyDeleteSSW is not wrestling!
ReplyDeleteUnless Scherer's ELITE~ section reports that Bryan pulled a Benoit, and we are not aware of it yet... then yep, I find that hard to believe.
ReplyDeleteComes out July 31st.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I will be getting that
Cesaro- the time to push him to the moon would've been right after WrestleMania. Even turning him back heel was fine as long as he was elevated in the process. That opportunity was blown. But I think the "when we need it" reasoning makes sense. It might not be fair to Cesaro, but to me it says they still see main eventer in him but want to save it for when it'll matter. Right now, it's all about Reigns, with the Ambrose/Rollins thing not far behind. And before he got hurt, Barrett was the midcarder they were putting effort into elevating, which I was more than fine with. If they don't think they can elevate that many guys at once, I'd rather them wait.
ReplyDeleteMiz-Sheamus- it's goofy, but Miz works as the slimy shitbag Hollywood heel worried about his face. I like it.
KENTA- I'm really looking forward to him in NXT, but at the same time hope he's not there long.
"A feud based on the idea that Miz is obsessed with his face and Sheamus promising people that he will kick Miz's face in."
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant! Why can't feuds be this beautiful in their simplicity anymore?
Well I cant read ELITE news anymore so I will NEVER KNOW
ReplyDeleteNo poll, just go straight to reviewing and posting it.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I was thinking
ReplyDeleteHe'd absolutely be a quasi-main eventer on one of the shows, probably Smackdown.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding. I just found out last week that wrestling is fake. (from outside sources).
ReplyDeleteCM Punk is set to debut on BoD RAW any week now.
ReplyDelete(Also Yokozuna)
SOURCE: Al Isaacs, Scoops
Hey man, share me your ELITE account password.
ReplyDeleteI need to know about this breaking news
"CM Punk is set to debut on Bang Bus any week now."
ReplyDeleteFTFY
Just because they can't replicate that specific thing doesn't mean Cesaro's dead. People like him. If he's put in a situation where he matters, people will respond accordingly. It does suck that they blew that opportunity to elevate him right then and there, but as lame as it is, if THEY think the cupboard's too full on guys they're trying to elevate right now then yeah, I'd rather them wait than half-ass it.
ReplyDeleteWell Brock Lesnar is a lazy fuck.
ReplyDeleteYep, typical "it's over, the sky's falling, he's ruined forever" over-exagerating. Happens all the time. I have no doubt we haven't heard the last of Cesaro as a big name.
ReplyDeleteYeah, love that smirk when he tells of Flair being fined for his blade job.
ReplyDeleteBring otunga out of mothballs and have him rework mizs contract that if he gets hit in the face he wins by dq and the guy who hits himis suspended
ReplyDeleteWill he drag race against the Exotic Express and the Lex Express??
ReplyDeleteThat's what Sable says?
ReplyDeleteWhere is Otunga anyway? His coffee chugging lawyer gimmick was actually entertaining.
ReplyDeleteEarth shattering news, playas
ReplyDeleteKayfabe Commentaries announced on their Facebook page that they are going to have an upcoming "YouShoot" with Teddy Long
Cesaro: It's been said below, but by the time WWE "needs" Cesaro, he might not have the same "ceiling" he had three-four months ago. But maybe he will, who knows?
ReplyDeleteMiz: Two guys who don't interest me taking up only one segment? WIN. Because asking for zero segments might be a bit much, at least where one of them is concerned.
KENTA: "I’m excited for him to try to bring his brand of sports-entertainment to WWE and see how he does." KENTA, how do you feel about being chased out of the arena by Kane? Or having to keep smiling as Big Show once again tries to steal your heat?
Hart: Looks good.
Are they giving sheamus a big face push??? News to me. I wouldn't say he's doing any better than cesaro
ReplyDeleteI want a tag team timeline. The Outlaws doing 1998 and the Outsiders doing 1996 spring to mind.
ReplyDeleteThe only race will be "most women brought to orgasm."
ReplyDeletePunk: Some ridiculously high number
Luger: 1
Rose: 0
I bet Brock says that about Sable more often.
ReplyDeleteOutsiders could do 97 WCW. Kevin Sullivan already did 1996
ReplyDeleteHell yes.
ReplyDeleteIn the opening segment, teddy long will replace himself with the undertaker.
ReplyDeleteA lot more stuff surrounding them in 96
ReplyDeleteThat makes Bourne, Brodus, and Long as guys just released by the WWE who are doing YouShoots.
ReplyDeletePlus, Long and Curt Hawkins are filming RF Video shoots and I think Brodus too.
I hope they dish the dirt on the current locker room as we have not had a lot of that
If WWE never rips off the timeline idea for the network, everyone there should be fired.
ReplyDeleteThe special will apparently show the opening segment, Cena vs. Wyatt, and Brock vs. Undertaker.
ReplyDeleteI guess the logic is that Hogan/Rock/Austin are the most popular wrestlers of all time, Cena and Brock are set to face each other at SummerSlam (and are also extremely well known), and that promoting Daniel Bryan on network TV at this point is silly because he's out for the next few months. I get the logic of using these segments because it's meant to draw in new viewers, even if I don't like it as a Bryan fan.
However, you know damn well if Batista won the belt they would've shown that match to capitalize on Guardians of the Galaxy.
Well yeah but they already filmed the 96 with Sullivan. I recapped it here.
ReplyDeleteNash better do a WCW Timeline for them though
Or because they're using the NBC special to try and get some mainstream attention on the Summerslam, which Daniel Bryan won't be a prt of. Using the NBC special to highlight victories for Brock Lesnar and John Cena--- aka the main event of Summerslam--- is a perfectly sensible thing to do.
ReplyDeleteIt sucks but the fact is Daniel Bryan is a zero priority right now.
Yep, good points. Plus, HHH losing = bad ratings or something. I guess it's not a huge deal, but those 3 segments do make sense.
ReplyDeleteFor a guy that pines for the old days of wrestling, it seems odd that you're not a fan of the concept.
ReplyDeleteNash could do a "history of the world" timeline, and I would listen to every minute of it.
ReplyDeleteHe probably pines for the Attitude Era feuds of spilling coffee, and shampoo commercials.
ReplyDeleteTeddy has over twenty-five years of stuff to cover, NWA, WCW, and WWF. Nothing against Evan or Brodus, but I'll be looking forward to Teddy's more than those two combined.
ReplyDeleteKoloff-TA redux? I'm down with that, as long as they don't stretch it out over seven PPVs.
ReplyDeleteHe should be a manager/authority figure.
ReplyDeleteWhy they dont have him do that is beyond me
Am RF Shoot with Teddy would be better as they willl go over his whole career.
ReplyDeleteFor the YouShoot, a guy like Bourne doesnt seem afraid to hold back.
Three at max:
ReplyDeletePPV-RAW-RAW-PPV-RAW-RAW-PPV
Why the didn't make him a manager with a heel stable called The Firm, I'll never know.
ReplyDeleteIt drove me crazy that Benoit and Booker T were killing each other for 7 straight grueling matches to get a title shot at Fit Finlay.... While Finlay defended that title against no names every single show DURING THAT TIME.... WTF??
ReplyDeleteTypical WWE logic: "Well, we're pushing one young talent, why bother with the others?"
ReplyDeleteReigns, Ambrose, Rollins, Wyatt, Harper, Rowan, Rusev, Dallas..... Still not enough?
ReplyDeleteRight. It's pretty hard to deny that the 6 most mainstream-known wrestlers that appeared at Mania are Hogan, Rock, Austin, Cena, Lesnar, and Undertaker. Throw in a 30 second moment to spotlight the announcement of Warrior's Hall of Fame induction and that's 7 of the biggest names in wrestling history. Since this is a special airing on NBC and meant to get lapsed fans interested in the Network and SummerSlam, it's best to focus on the faces/names that people know.
ReplyDeleteBryan is one of my favorite wrestlers, but I know he's not on that level yet, especially now that he's out of commission.
And then add both another interviewer and a guest to make it a tag match, playa.
ReplyDelete"Now, he has cooled off to the point that I don't think you can ever get him back to the point where he was right after Mania."
ReplyDeleteSo that's not hyperbole, Bayless? Come on man. cesaro's one of the best wrestlers on the planet, has the look they want, has a super over moveset, and the fans want to go apeshit for him. You really think they can never get him back to that point again? I mean... really?
Cesaro's a guy who fans will buy into the second he goes back on a tear and is involved in something hot. If it were me, I woulda pushed him strong right outta Mania too, but to say that now ALL IS LOST with the guy is crazy. He got jobbed out for over a year as a yodeling moron, and the second he started swinging guys and getting even a modest push the fans bought into him again.
And as for creating new stars, I mean you do acknowledge that WWE has pretty much put Ambrose/Rollins/Reigns over everyone recently and created 3 main event level guys, right? And crappy Cena feud aside, they've also done a pretty good job of making Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper into big deals. Plus, you know, Daniel Bryan went over pretty strong as a new star too.
You can't make every single guy at the same time.
Very stoked for the Hitman timeline.
ReplyDelete***Reason for Miz beating Sheamus on RAW
The reason for this happening is that they are going to start a feud
based on the idea that Miz is obsessed with his face and Sheamus
promising people that he will kick Miz's face in.***
ehh....I have nothing..
From 1999: "As for the proposed upcoming Steve Austin/Billy Gunn feud, the reason for this happening is that they are going to start a feud based on the idea that Gunn is obsessed with his own ass and Austin has been promising people that he will kick Billy Gunn's ass."
ReplyDeleteWWE can push several people at once if they are involved in good feuds. His feud with Sheamus could have lasted longer than 2 weeks and have some meaning behind it. He could have wanted to rename it the European title.
ReplyDeleteHe could have fought jack swagger longer than 2 weeks and put some more hatred behind that feud.
This show gets atrocious ratings every year as it is, so even if Bryan was featured, no one would see.
ReplyDeleteJust make sure to give him a couple hits from a bong and he'll calm down and loosen right up.
ReplyDeleteThey let Brad Maddox on TV but kept him off. That is terrible
ReplyDeleteThat Timeline is going to be awesome. I hope it's two hours of him taking shots at Flair.
ReplyDeleteYeah but SSW just got a TV deal
ReplyDeleteAll of those guys except for Dallas are in good feuds. All of those guys except for rusev and Dallas (plus usos) are putting on great matches. Any person can be built up with both of those
ReplyDeleteHe's still on the signature as punk would say I love the idea of 2 f list celebrities thinking they're a list it might be a lil too nxt though
ReplyDeleteYeah but what kind of scenario could ever occur where they'd be better off with extra guys being pushed?
ReplyDeleteCan I hug you right now? Like I'll book the flight and everything.
ReplyDeleteAnd Punk really does love his fans deep down, he just hasn't shown it lately. So he'll come back just for them!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's what bothers me. If they thought it'd be too crowded with Reigns, Rollins, Wyatt and Ambrose to elevate Cesaro as well, I get that and like I said, I'd rather them wait on Cesaro's own elevation if that's the case. Because "when we need it" for WWE will also mean it matters more for Cesaro, too, rather than half-ass it and shove 15 pounds of new main eventer into a 10 pound sack.
ReplyDeleteBut he had a good thing going with the cross-feuding with him, Sheamus, Barrett and RVD (even though the RVD spot could've used an upgrade) and continuing to go out and have kick-ass 3.5-4 star matches in the midcard would've been just fine, rather than him drifting aside. Not being elevated didn't mean he needed to be marginalized.
He takes a shot at Flair in the preview.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it stupid?
ReplyDeleteYeah, good point.
ReplyDeleteThey've really not struggled to create new stars, though. If you ranked their current performers in order of importance, half of the top ten wasn't even on the main roster two years ago. (And that's obviously not including Punk, who was just another mid-upper card guy until 2011, or Bryan.)
ReplyDeleteHe can absolutely not only get back to where he was then, but higher. Again: people like the guy. He's a terrific worker and is charismatic even if not a great promo. When they want to elevate him, they'll have no problem doing so.
Because WWE does absolutely everything wrong or something.
ReplyDeleteThat's totally what he said.
ReplyDeleteThank God Santino retired. If they got too bored with Cesaro, they would pair up with Santino as a Eurocentric comedy team called The Europenos. Santino would nickname Cesaro "Cheesaro" and hilarity would ensue.
ReplyDeleteGet it? He's Swiss. Swiss Cheese. CHEESARO!
TJ: Pacquiao vs. Algeiri at catch-weight of 144 lbs
ReplyDeleteAnyone that buys this fight needs their ass kicked.
It's not Pacquiao vs Mayweather? Then zero cares.
ReplyDeleteSwiss Head Cheese?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I saw it and thought it was awesome. Most people get annoyed at Bitter Bret, but I think it's great.
ReplyDeleteI doubt this will happen, but if it did it will be after both fighters are broke and too old for me to care.
ReplyDeleteCesaro clearly needs to start working out with Triple H to get a big push. Crowd reactions for a face push don't mean anything. Nothing against Sheamus -- he's a good worker, but what does he have that Cesaro doesn't? Work isn't as good and their mic skills are even but Sheamus has just been an ok top face whereas Cesaro hasn't been given a chance except at Mania when he got the enormous pop.
ReplyDeleteYep, ZERO reason why it didn't happen 3 years ago. the ultimate example of "Leaving money on the table". Even more than Caliber.
ReplyDeleteIs there a "Bitter Bret" twitter page?
ReplyDeleteI knew it wouldn't happen when Manny resigned with Arum. If he wanted the fight he would have done like Marquez and Cotto did and fought them once their deals were up.
ReplyDeleteYes he does.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/BretHart
He's too built to portray a manager. You know Vince wants to see those thighs.
ReplyDeleteHow's about a virtual high five?
ReplyDeleteThis will probably be irrelevant to anyone outside the UK, but Power Slam magazine is shutting down after the next issue. I know that print media is a dying industry, but as someone who has been reading regularly for over a decade and used it to keep up with the business during periods when I wasn't watching, I'm going to miss it.
ReplyDeleteI like Bitter Bret, too. He calls it like he sees it and whether you agree or not, it's a whole lot more fun than other wrestlers of his generation constantly fellating WWE.
ReplyDeleteTommy v CW Anderson from Massacre on 34th Street: such an underrated match.
ReplyDeleteFELLA!
ReplyDeleteSo they took away Cesaro's first name for nothing.
ReplyDeleteThat poor dog. 8 (
ReplyDeleteNo, Tiger is the one who gets fucked up...like when his ex whupped his ass.
ReplyDeleteI've got high hopes for that Bret timeline, rumours of him jumping to WCW with the IC Title, the Mania match with Piper, getting the Summerslam main event,Davey Boy getting fired, how he got the news he'd be getting the world title, defending it against HBK in his first major defense at Survivor Series,Hulk retiring?,Sid quitting,Warrior walking out plus all the other gossip around the most stacked roster maybe in the history of the biz.
ReplyDeleteI'm already prepping the visine.
I used to read that regularly after i dropped PWI and Apter's new mag went belly up in 01.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff, even though i haven't read an issue in years now. Wrassling just aint as interesting now as it used to be especially backstage.
I doubt he remembers it well enough to be truly interesting.
ReplyDeleteSee the fingerpoke of doom was gonna be huge but then Russo came in and fucked it up and turned Goldberg heel, then Scott Hall put his hand through a limousine window and...
And thats what makes WWE such a unique company and just wrestling in general unique. Bret, Foley, Hulk, whoever can badmouth, talk shit, and put the company on blast, and at any given point a week from then they can still get a paycheck from them and appear on RAW or something
ReplyDeleteI can buy 10 million depending on the source of that. Like if it was a bunch of older wrestlers sold a friend/organization on getting into the wrestling business (it was hot at the time). ECW had some talent and had some status. Better to buy them up with debt instead of starting something totally new without a name behind it.
ReplyDeleteNo way with 110 million. That was probably an estimate of growth over like 10 years if it took off.
He's only 43? I never watched any ECW at all. Did he have any talent? He could still be going for WWE if he had talent or knew the right people.
ReplyDeleteThe ECW bankruptcy filings has some strange components, the number one creditor was Acclaim? They made the ECW video game why would they be owed money?
ReplyDeletePlus Paul E was $587,500 in the hole to the WWF! Who says Vince is such a bad guy?
If the Miz-Sheamus feud doesn't culminate in a SummerSlam match where punching and kicking in the face are banned, I will have lost all faith in humanity.
ReplyDeletePlus Cesaro is legit tough, and Sheamus is JBL tough.
ReplyDeleteCall it the SUMMIT SERIES like the Canada vs. USSR hockey contest from 1972. This is also a good way to build up the US Title with two hosses killing each other over it week after week. Have Rusev edge Swagger in match #7 but Swagger is elevated because he scored 3 wins during the series,
ReplyDeleteThis was just dumb booking. The concept was right but the execution was wrong. Finley should not have even been in the picture as much as I respect him as a worker.
ReplyDeleteImprovements???
ReplyDelete* I am hoping for a play list at some point that can be shared with other users
* Can't wait for all Raws and Nitros
Bonus question....
Who is everyone's favorite guy who never won a major title (WCW or WWE champion). Why? What reason would that guy have been good?
I don't know of any specific technical improvements to suggest, but I would like to see the content expanded to include more of the old school tape libraries. Specifically, I would love to see the AWA's Superclash III PPV and WrestleRock '86 shows in clear, clean video, as well as the entire cadre of WCCW Parade of Champions shows.
ReplyDeleteAll is not lost but there is absolutely NO REASON why the WWE couldn't capitalize on his WMXXX battle rotal win and turn him into a top tier face. It's just lazy writing and booking, plain and simple.
ReplyDeletePlus The Usos are being pushed hard too.
ReplyDeleteI'd quite like it to actually be released in the UK for a start.
ReplyDeleteMore old school stuff like Prime Time, Championship Wrestling, WCW/NWA Saturday Night, etc.
ReplyDelete22 years after the first one. I like it.
ReplyDeleteWas a "fine" worker for ECW's standards. He was over with the crowd and had the underdog face thing going for him
ReplyDeleteKind of a small detail, and it may be different on devices that are not PS3s, but the option to sort PPVs chronologically would be helpful for people who would like to watch the PPVs in order but do not know the order.
ReplyDeleteThe same ratings, plus they already would have turned off a huge portion of their fanbase with such a ridiculously dumbfuck move.
ReplyDeleteRemind me never to fly Malaysia Airlines. Another one of their planes has gone done this time right on the Russia/Ukraine border!
ReplyDeleteIn better news Deborah Ann Woll of True Blood has been cast in the new Netflix Daredevil show as Karen Page.
Ugh....oh my god, shut up with this. No one believes any of this.
ReplyDeletePart of me would love a wrestling best of 7 finish in a 4 match sweep, or a 5 match blowout. Just for something different.
ReplyDeleteSuperclash they most certainly could do, but I'm not sure there are presentable versions of the other two. I don't believe home videos were ever released; just matches shown on the weekly television. And, judging by the AWA shows shown on ESPN Classic awhile back, they may not have ever aired all of WrestleRock (I tried to make a DVD of it).
ReplyDeleteHe was a clunky and flawed worker that worked in ecw
ReplyDeleteDr Shelby would disagree.
ReplyDeleteActually, I have a VHS tape of the entire WrestleRock '86 show that I bought from RF Video like 15 years ago. It's watchable but the video isn't great in a number of spots. If WWE has a copy, I would think they could digitize and improve the video, or something.
ReplyDeleteThat's how the Roku app sorts the PPVs.
ReplyDeleteMaking chapters available on PPVs. I'd like to be able to jump to a specific match...I have the option to do it on my laptop but I prefer to watch on the Roku in my living room.
ReplyDeleteI did the same...I thought, "Bundy, for an hour??"
ReplyDeleteis there an official death date for the original ecw? for wcw, we can point to whatever day in march '01 vince bought it (a day before the simulcast? day of simulcast?), as well as the week before when tv officially was canceled
ReplyDeletebut with ecw, you heard rumors, you got the sense, and then of course paul e showed up on wwf tv the night after no way out. but i there was never any official statement that ecw had closed
the only thing i remember is that there was a report from their last house show, that all the roster got in the ring together. it was the last house show in the sense of no more had been scheduled, but at least some of the wrestlers still thought there was something maybe on the horizon. but there was never any kind of official announcement, just paul e showing up on tv replacing lawler. i dont even remember what the last televised ecw thing was. was it guilty as charged? or did they have some tv eps after that?
Go by Donky Kong Brody
ReplyDeleteYeah, and this movie got decent reviews as well. I was gonna see Occulus but it kinda looked like every modern horror film before it.
ReplyDeleteCould have sworn they still had a PPV scheduled for March. Might have even been the week Heyman showed up on Raw. TV would have also been long gone because TNN canceled them the week they aired Raw for the first time.
ReplyDeleteI know a guy who continuously talks about his days of playing high school and college basketball. He's 42 now, I believe. I mean, let it go.
ReplyDeleteIn 2001, was that even a drop in the bucket? Even today, is that really a drop in the bucket for Titan?
ReplyDeleteECW was probably paid an advance. The games did not sell enough to pay back the advance.
ReplyDeleteI believe during their match against the Shield at Elimination Chamber, JBL calls Harper and Rowan the second coming of Brody and Hansen.
ReplyDeletehey, do you know who happens to own all the old St. Louis Wrestling Club footage? It seems like it just sits idle nowadays, and being from STL myself originally I'd love to go back and see some of it
ReplyDeleteI believe WWE owns most of it since JCP bought the rights when they bought the St. Louis office. Larry Matysik owns some tapes from when he and another promoter tried to keep the territory going. I don't know what actually remains from the old Wrestling at the Chase since so many of them were taped over.
ReplyDeletedamn, that's pretty depressing if so much of STL wrestling history was just taped over. Thanks for the info though!
ReplyDeleteI was actually disappointed it wasn't Bundy.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. He would have been badass, tossing Sabu, Taz, Dreamer, Raven, et al around
ReplyDeleteYeah, Sid vs. Hogan at 'Bash at the Beach' presumably, then a build toward Hogan vs. Flair? Maybe do Flair/Sid vs. Hogan/Sting at 'Halloween Havoc' to really build a Starrcade double main of Hogan vs. Flair and Sting vs. Vader
ReplyDeleteYeah, it absolutely should have been Warrior winning that Rumble.
ReplyDelete
