Man it's a shame we didn't get Austin vs. a returning Benoit just one time.
ReplyDeleteRaw got about 10x better when Benoit came back
ReplyDeleteHardy vs Undertaker is the most underrated ladder match ever. Many people hated it at the time because, they wanted a Hardy spot fest. Instead, we got an unexpected old school style war, that just happened to involve a ladder.
ReplyDeleteLove that match. Lost my shit watching it live. JR does some quality work during that match.
ReplyDeleteYep. For just a moment, I let myself believe that Jeff could do it. I was standing & yelling at the TV.
ReplyDeleteSomeday will get to see that Austin/Benoit match from Calgary. With 10 straight German suplexes. That will be fun.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I wouldn't mind it so much if I could at least understand HOW things were being uploaded to the networok. Like, you don't want to upload all the SNMEs at once. Fine. Then do them 2-3 at a time on Mondays. Or air them in order every Saturday night. Instead of, "here's 13 of them, who knows when you'll get to see the rest!" Or here's a random Raw from 2002 for no good reason, even as we're slowly adding the Raws from 1995 (you know, 2 this week, 3 next week, 1 the week after that).
ReplyDeleteIs it THAT HARD to set a schedule?
no one cares about 1995 raw. If WWE wanted people to resubcribe, they'd just hurry up and get to 1997-2000 Raws that people actually want to see.
ReplyDeleteI bet the crowd absolutely dies when Benoit arrives in the arena.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Benoit might have suffered enough brain damage to kill his family a few months earlier!
ReplyDeleteREACH FOR IT, KID! MAKE YOURSELF FAMOUS!
ReplyDeleteAnd then he got traded to Smackdown a month later.
ReplyDeleteWill never get the love for that match. Maybe it's because Undertaker sucked so much in 2002 that I automatically downgrade any match he was in.
ReplyDeleteA joke almost as current as your Chappelle's show profile pic.
ReplyDeleteYou're on fire tonight!
ReplyDeleteAt the rate they're going, those Raws won't be up until JANUARY, and I can easily skip the four months of ppvs after Summerslam (as I have for every year since 2004).
ReplyDeleteYeah, I count that among my favorite ladder matches, told a nice simple story.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure JR called that match solo.
ReplyDeleteOh god, someone help him!
ReplyDeleteNo.
ReplyDeleteThough for the past 12 years I have consistently made fun of his screechy girly "I'm still standing....with the help of the ropes...but I'm still standing."
ReplyDeleteThen it all became a moot point 5 years later.
ReplyDeleteI forgot, did Brock actually go over Flair clean in the match or was there some schmozz no content ending?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to watch it. Benoit is awesome
ReplyDeleteYES YES YES YES YES, the Hardy/Taker Ladder match can now be seen on the network.
ReplyDeleteclean
ReplyDeleteNow was it better than I remember, or do I remember all Taker matches then being him no selling everyone, and that Jeff was "put over" because Taker no sold him and gave him a beating?
ReplyDeleteAnd that's the difference between why Brock Lesnar worked so well and why Sheamus was such a dud.
ReplyDeleteLesnar got wins over guys like the Hardys, Flair, Hogan, and beat the Rock in the middle of the ring, no bullshit.
Sheamus gets back and forth wins against Goldust, Shelton, and retires Jamie Noble. Then beats Cena for the title when Cena slips off the turnbuckle and falls through a table. And they wonder why it took people years to even give a shit about him.
I've been watching some of Zeb Colter's old promos, and I must say, Real Americans was one of the most underrated gimmicks in a while.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Goldust feud was pretty good. And retiring a wrestler is nothing to sneeze at even if it's someone Nobles level. But yeah his first title win did him no favors.
ReplyDeleteGoldust feud was good. The way his title win was handled and his defenses after made it a joke
ReplyDeleteTaker no-selling (which wasn't very bad in this match) makes sense. It's little Jeff Hardy getting in the face against the frigging Undertaker.
ReplyDeleteI almost think the company should just abandon the live feed except for the pay-per-views, NXT, Main Event, etc. It seems like they recycle a lot of footage on there as is and don't have enough original programming to sustain it.
ReplyDeleteNow, why you would launch the Network without enough unique programming for the live feed is the question, as an investor, I would REALLY be asking Vince on July 31.
Yea it's a decent match but I hated it at the time for that reason. He beat Jeff..what two or three weeks in a row..then beats Jeff at his own style of match...and this was suppose to make Jeff? Hated Taker back then.
ReplyDeleteZeb's promos are some of the highlights of PPV from 2013.
ReplyDeleteI can still watch his matches with no issues... Guy was awesome in the ring. That's what I care about when I watch
ReplyDeleteYes, the camera work was brilliant. I need to go watch this again now.
ReplyDeleteComparing pretty much anyone to Brock Lesnar is kind of unfair to that guy you're comparing him to.
ReplyDeleteHe's not comparing him to Lesnar, he's comparing the way they were booked, and why one worked well, and why one didn't work so great.
ReplyDeleteBrock Lesnar got the ultimate mother of all super pushes because he's... Brock Lesnar.
ReplyDeleteWonder who Flair dreaded getting the ring with more: Lesnar or Goldberg?
ReplyDeleteYeah this is why I think I remember it being overrated. "Guy gets made by taking a beating" is lazy booking.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't about getting Jeff Hardy over. It was about making Booger Red a face again.
ReplyDeleteYeah even if Brock was given a Sheamus like push he would have turned that chicken shit into chicken salad.
ReplyDeleteListen to the crowd. Does it sound over-rated to them?
ReplyDeleteWas Austin known for giving out brain damage?
ReplyDeleteWell (and I know how jeff turned out) it probably should have been about helping get over a young popular wrestler that the girls loved and sold merch.
ReplyDeleteWe don't need no water Let the motherfucker burn!
ReplyDeleteNo we won't get to see it, or no it won't be fun?
ReplyDelete"Should" has nothing to do with what WWE does.
ReplyDeleteIRS would be my guess
ReplyDeleteWe've all said 100 times how they should be using the live feed when they aren't airing something original. The best use of the live feed so far was the Great American Bash marathons that ran the 4th of July weekend. Do more shit like that. They should be running 3-4 Summerslams on Sundays in the run up to the big show. I mean, I can't be the only one who says, "it's August, time to wath every Summerslam!"
ReplyDeleteI only get truly uncomfortable when he's taking some of hose needless chair shots.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with that
ReplyDeleteThat certainly seems to be the implication, but no, he wasn't.
ReplyDeleteBrock and Sheamus were given the title in the same amount of time.
ReplyDeleteLook how one guy was booked compared to the other.
They were literally hanging from the rafters!
ReplyDeleteI get uncomfortable when I remember he savagely murdered his wife and child.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's just rude.
ReplyDeleteI was at this show...it was AWESOME! Both Flair and Hardy did a great job of making you suspend disbelief and think they just might go over (Hardy more so than Flair...Brock was clearly going over, but Flair was awesome sewing the seeds of doubt).
ReplyDeleteWow, someone's panties are on too tight. I wasn't even knocking the joke.
ReplyDeleteBeing on the giving end of 10 German suplexes is also as bad as being on the receiving end.
ReplyDeleteWell just to be clear I was making fun of your profile pic.
ReplyDeleteThe karate battle between Lane and Smothers is a great touch as well. Lane always seemed to be mentioned as a "karate expert", and here was an equal in Smothers.
ReplyDeleteThat was the Smackdown match from Edmonton. The Calgary match was on RAW with the Montreal finish.
ReplyDeleteThat was weird because Mohegan Sun is not exactly WCW country. But then again, the fans in Mohegan Sun tend to shit on everything anyway. Even the UFC crowds at Mohegan Sun are ridiculously dead.
ReplyDeleteWhy would they have died? I thought they'd be excited Benoit was back...I hope you didn't bet anything important
ReplyDeleteProbably Goldberg. I bet he respected Brock due to Minnesota ties and legit background. Goldberg I could picture flair just hating and vice versa
ReplyDeleteMohegan Sun? What show are we talking about?
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough one...both seem to be pretty smart with their money and probably wouldn't be willing to float him a loan.
ReplyDelete
