Triple H's role at Summerslam

Hey so last Monday they officially announced Cena vs Lesnar.  Now early reports rumored that Triple H would face Roman Reigns at Summerslam, however the ending to last Monday's RAW almost suggested that it would be Randy Orton facing Roman Reigns.  Now they could do Orton vs Kane and still do the rumored match but if they don't my question to you is:  When does Triple H insert himself into the Cena/Lesnar match as the special guest referee?  Triple H making himself special referee at Summerslam is almost a tradition now.

Well, the logical progression is Reigns going over Orton at Summerslam and then moving onto the REAL feud with HHH at Night of Champions, unless they really want to stretch it out by doing shit finish at Summerslam / shit finish at NOC / Hell in the Cell at the PPV of the same name, and then move onto HHH at Survivor Series.  Either way, the Orton -> HHH progression seems to make the most sense.  And then HHH can make his life hell until he wins the Rumble to get revenge and yada yada millions of dollars made etc.

  1. I wouldn't give Roman the keys just yet, IMO. He's... Sorry for distracted by the Nissan 24 girl.

  2. Real question for me is if WWE has it in their budget to hire Motorhead to record another Triple H theme song.

  3. Depending on how badly the network subscriptions after people drop off following Summerslam, they may have to load up Night of Champions (which should really be a throwaway show) AND Hell in the Cell. Can you imagine a triple main of Cena/Brock, Reigns/HHH and Ambrose/Rollins, all singles matches, all in the Cell?

  4. That's a good idea in theory, but that's too many Cell matches for one card (I know, they've done it in the past, that doesn't make it right). Plus, HITC completely loses its luster as a gimmick now that no one can bleed.

    Needs more HHH.

  6. I don't think there's a set number of Cell matches that's "too many," personally. The problem isn't the number of them, it's having the Cell at a set date and thus shoehorning it into a program even if it's not appropriate for it (ie, a blow-off of a feud defined by seething hatred, a rubber match of bitter rivals, etc.).
They have three really good things going with Rollins/Ambrose, Reigns v. Authority and (potentially, since it hasn't really started) Cena/Lesnar that, if they want to stretch those out for three months, could absolutely all work for Cell matches without it being overkill.

Also, I don't agree that the Cell completely loses its luster without blood. Sure, it's a special effect that can add something and it'd be nice if it would be available. But I can't honestly think of a single time since they've done away with it that I've really missed it. In fact, I recently watched the Brock/Taker Cell match from 2002 where all three of them (Heyman included) bled like stuck pigs and while the match was great, the excessive blood was just fucking gross.

  7. I'm so fucking sick of TNA trotting out all ancient former stars.

  12. Why not cena/reigns/Ambrose vs Brock/hhh/Rollins war games in a cell?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oof, why was I not at that? Oh right, I live in Georgia.

At least I have DragonCon next month.

  14. Cena vs. Reigns vs. Ambrose vs. Brock vs. HHH vs. Rollins as a callback to the Armageddon six-man. They should also bring back the dump truck for the Rikishi spot.

  15. YankeesHoganTripleHFanJuly 24, 2014 at 3:22 PM

You know that Ambrose would be foaming at the mouth to take that spot.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hmmm, that pop for him on Raw might be a weee bit large. Still don't want to see him wrestle though.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It’s amazing how much presence guys like Sting and Hogan have, when in comparison Daniel Bryan looks like the kind of guy who streaks at sporting events.

I like Bryan btw, but the contrast is immense.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Not if Dolph can find a way to do a run-in so he can bump off the cage, bounce off the truck, and into some woman's lap in the third row.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I love how you spelled that word.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Just changed it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'd like him to have one official match and that's it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes, against Heath Slater.

  23. Is that you, Vince?

  24. Life sucks AND THEN YOU DIE...

  25. I'm 100 percent behind this.

  26. For the love of God, let THEDEMONKANE rest for a while and bring him back several months down the line. There's just too much of him near the main events right now, when no one buys him as a legitimate threat any more.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Look, ANY wrestler is going to look subdued compared to those two. There's a reason they drew a metric ton of money in their careers.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I know Sting's been on TV off & on with TNA for almsot 10 years, but for some reason, I feel like I just saw STING for the first time since 2001. Maybe it's the theme music.

    ReplyDelete
  29. True, but so much of his appeal comes from the lack of that presence, though, which is something largely manufactured. Daniel Bryan's appeal is being the real-life underdog.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah, keep the WCW beatings coming.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Any wrestler? So if you put Cena, HBK, Bret, Flair, Austin, Undertaker, Macho Man, Nash, Rock, hell even Sheamus next to those two that they wouldn’t fit in? Okay...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Similar feeling to when Hogan returned before wrestlemania. Not as long, but what was the gap since 2006 vs. Orton?

    ReplyDelete
  33. That's what happens when TNA is off in another universe.

    ReplyDelete
  34. He showed up on the Raw 15th anniversary show, the that was it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah I can't argue with that, you have a point sir.

    ReplyDelete
  36. He shook Daniel Bryan's hand...and hugged Hogan?

I see how things are gonna be.

    ReplyDelete
  37. OK maybe not most of those guys.

    ReplyDelete
  38. He's the anti-hero!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Did he write titties?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Here comes WCW1987 to defend TNA in 3... 2.... 1...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Plus, Sting's in his getup and Hogan's, well, he's Hogan. If the contrast is Daniel Bryan in his ring gear "YES!ing" his way down the aisle with 70,000 people losing their shit (or even just 12,000 on Raw) compared even to Hogan's entrance and Sting coming down from the rafters, and now you're talking about a presence that isn't nearly as different from that of history's biggest stars.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Disagree about Sheamus. He's a goof.

    ReplyDelete
  43. If Lesnar wins the strap at SummerSlam I would prefer Lesnar vs Sting at NoC over Lesnar/Cena 3

    ReplyDelete
  52. Haha, yeah but the guy looks the part, you've got to give him that.

  54. What's the TNA Hall of Famer doing on RAW, King?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Pfftt, lame. I miss the interactive spambots.

    ReplyDelete
  56. That's probably why he set it apart as "hell even Sheamus," to show the contrast in presence between Bryan and more larger-than-life characters, that difference is so great even someone who's not an all-timer comes off like more of what we imagine a pro wrestler to be than Daniel Bryan does. Wasn't really that hard to understand.

    ReplyDelete
  57. B'Jesus thats harsh there fella...

    ReplyDelete
  58. doesn't make it so. Ryback looks the part, but if he were up there it'd be "WTF is Ryback doing up there? He sucks"

  59. It's kind of funny how Sting has appeared everywhere BUT WWE television so far. Appearing on a game commercial doesn't count as an actual appearance.

  65. Sting's gonna save us from The Authority, guys! Just like he saved us from the NWO!

    ReplyDelete
  66. They need to beef up NoC b/c of subscription end dates, right? Here's a fresh main event that might get the on-the-fencers to re-up, and maybe attract some new subscribers.

Plus there aren't a lot of guys on the WWE roster who would look legitimate against Brock. Roman Reigns is one of the very few and that has to be saved for Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  67. can you really say WCW beat the nWo?
