Who really knows what's going on at this point. Wouldn't be surprised if they tell shareholders that they will be raising the price of the Network in the near future to $14.99 or something. I'd still expect about 650k subscribers or so.
I read reports today that they are cutting back on original content like Tough Enough or Legends House 2 since those cost millions to film, but I think that's a bad idea because they need more unique programming on the Network.
Semi-TJ: Heres an excerpt from a wwe.com interview with Justin Gabriel
"I’m not gonna lie to you and say I haven’t been frustrated with my career progression. But I’ve come to terms with what I have to do to end that frustration. I’m sure people have forgotten what I’m capable of, but that’s how modern society is – short attention spans and even worse memories. I had to do something to be fresh in their memories again."
The guy should count himself lucky he was not deemed surplus to requirements, and now he has this interview which works on so many levels, and it'll come to naught despite being great matieral because he's Justin Gabriel and Vince doesn't give a fuck.
You pull stunts like this with the midcard that needs to replace your present core guys? You deserve every bad thing you get.
One original idea The Network should do is have two wrestlers meet in-studio with a moderator and provide an audio commentary on an old match of theirs. Imagine if they got Flair and Steamboat together and they spoke for a little bit in-studio to give background, then provide a running commentary for say, their Chi-Town Rumble match? Cheap, effective programming.
I think a better alternative for unique programming would be bringing back the legends roundtables, and doing more in studio stuff like the warrior doc. For instance, a comprehensive tour of the company would be an interesting watch and wouldn't be expensive to put together.

He's reaching Keith Richards levels of incompetence. There's apparently someone paid to babysit Keith Richards on tour and make sure he isn't doing drugs.
Remember when they used to do commentaries like that on some of their DVDs? I rather enjoyed them.
Hell, they could just do more Kennel From Hell-like commentary. The one Foley and Michael Cole was hilarious. Yes, Cole was actually really funny, too.
Steamboat: Here comes the cover... wasn't sure if I was going to get you here... Flair: WOOOOOOOOO! WAS IT ALL STILL WORTH IT, STEAMBOAT!? Steamboat: ... um... er... just a two count. Ric barely got the shoulder up so I just kept working that leg and... Flair: COME ON, FAMILY MAN! WOOOOOOOO! YOU GOT TO HOLD MY TITLE FOR A GOOD FOUR MONTHS... TELL ME IT WAS WORTH IT! I KNOW IT WAS! Steamboat: ... so I dropped 16 elbows on your leg in this match, just kind of thought of it on the fly, you know... we're profes... Flair: I TRADED A TITLE REIGN TO YOU IN EXCHANGE FOR ONE NIGHT... WOOOOOOO.... ONE NIGHT WITH BONNIE! I DON'T CARE... DON'T CARE... FIRE ME?! I'M ALREADY FIRED! Steamboat: ... ... Flair: WOOOOOOO! SHE WAS CALLING ME THE DRAGON FOR YEARS AFTERWARD! ONE NIGHT ON SPACE MOUNTAIN CHANGED HER LIFE FOR EVER, STEAMBOAT! Steamboat: ... *armdrags Flair*
Cole & Tazz calling some of Benoit's matches on his DVD is some really good commentary. I was surprised at Cole's actual wrestling knowledge on the Japan stuff.
You know what I'd like to see on the Network? A full, 30-minute show of Are You Serious. Bring back Puppet H, do commentary on full matches and such, not just clips.
Oh wait, Josh Matthews is gone, isn't he? Well, Road Dogg can act depressed with his new co-host.
I can just picture Cole sitting in his hotel room, drunk off cheap wine, crying to himself while watching New Japan on his laptop.
"One day they'll all see what I know. How many times is Vince gonna make me shill that goddamn app nobody cares about? Remember Tout? That worked out reeeeaaaall well. Just one Tanahashi match. I just wanna call one Tanahashi before I die."
He's quite the little ball of talent. He cut a pretty good promo on NXT after losing to Neville in a title match. Just simple stuff about how he wasn't quite good enough but there will be a next time. Made me really want to root for the guy.
When did the network go live? Probably around the same number of subscribers because I don't think that it's been six months yet, and there was probably a bunch of just before Mania subs at that.
It plummets.........they all plummet....
ReplyDeleteThe four horsemen get released from their ancient slumber and Dolph gets a title run thus signifying the end of the world?
ReplyDeleteVince kills all the major shareholders Godfather III style with a helicopter?
ReplyDeleteJust realized Godfather III fits the WWE perfectly:
ReplyDeleteMichael=Vince
Vincent=HHH
Mary=Stephanie

ReplyDeleteFunny stuff. Fun fact, everybody likes to point out Australia was a dumping ground for UK prisoners. But the US was used in the same way.

ReplyDeleteMaybe Flair and Funk. Ricky still kayfabes.
ReplyDeleteThat would be better than the WrestleMania Rewind show.
ReplyDeleteThey can't lose subscribers until
ReplyDeleteAugust.

They should put up some international house shows on the network.

ReplyDeleteIf Flair shows up without a handler, it'll be the first and last one of those.

ReplyDelete850,000 Subs. Plus a 5 million dollar profit in the quarter to help offset the 8 Million dollar loss they suffered in Q1.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Meekin doesn't understand that reference.

I believe there's a DVD of that coming. Only a matter of time before it appears on the network, i'd imagine.
ReplyDeleteTJ: Now introducing...WRESTLERS BREATHING!

Cole is surprisingly great when he's NOT being a corporate shill forced to listen to Vince screaming in his ear all night.
ReplyDeleteThat's ok, Godfather 3 is a piece of shit.
ReplyDeleteTJ: How many people do you think would be absolutely enraged if they saw you wearing this shirt? http://www.tshirthell.com/funny-shirts/led-zeppelin/

I've read a few stories that suggest Michael Cole and a bottle of Jack Daniels could put most of the boys under the table.
ReplyDeleteHe was much better on SmackDown with JBL or Tazz.
ReplyDeleteVince: Stephanie... remind me why Michael Cole isn't available on Tuesdays?
Can you buy these? Holy shit, I might buy the entire site.
ReplyDeleteYup. Almost every last one of their shirts are incredible.
ReplyDeleteI think that was Kevin Kelly, not Cole. Regardless, it's absolutely hilarious.
ReplyDelete1$...its price is right rules correct?
ReplyDelete:bust out laughing:
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, I would actually by that.

ReplyDeleteMy prediction: Dark and cloudy, with a chance of a drive-by.
ReplyDeleteI know some biker dudes that would drag you behind their chopper.
ReplyDeleteWas it? It's been a LONG time since I listened to it, so you might be right.
ReplyDeleteWas it? Ah. It's been a LONG time since I listened to it, so you might be right.
ReplyDeleteWill the drive by be done by somebody in a Hummer?
ReplyDeleteTUNE IN TO NITRO TO FIND OUT!
ReplyDeleteI already made that joke, kimosabe.
ReplyDeleteTHEN TUNE INTO THUNDER TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED AFTER NITRO!
ReplyDeleteOh god I can't wait to watch the crappiness of Thunder again!
I'll cop to it. I lost it at Bam Bam.
