Analyzing the upcoming Lesnar/Cena double turn at Night of Champions

Here's that meltdown that I've been promising y'all!

In 2014, WWE has been all about turning conventional wisdom on its ear.  The WWE Network has fundamentally changed the company's business model.  The Undertaker's Wrestlemania Streak is over.  John Cena was destroyed in a manner never before seen.  And the WWE World Title is now in the hands of a part-timer, who it seems is destined to defend the title only two or three times in the seven plus months interim until Wrestlemania.

Unless, of course, the WWE turns one more piece of conventional wisdom on its ear.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm calling my shot.  At Night of Champions, John Cena will regain the WWE World Championship by becoming a Paul Heyman Guy.

In other words, John Cena will finally become a heel.  He and Paul Heyman will do whatever is necessary to take Brock Lesnar's title and destroy him afterwards, keeping Lesnar out of the WWE until his surprise return at the Royal Rumble to finish up his contract strong.

There are so many signs pointing to this that, were it not for the past decade of experience, you would all say that it was inevitable:
  • Brock Lesnar has only three or four more wrestling dates left on his contract.  Night of Champions was obviously not part of the original plan.  With WWE in cost-cutting mode, it is difficult to imagine that Vince is offering him another seven digits to wrestle this one show.
  • John Cena promised "to show a side of himself that he's not proud of" at Summerslam.  Lesnar's assault was so merciless that he never got the chance.  It stands to reason that his character would be even more desperate at this juncture.
  • Last Monday night on RAW, Paul Heyman lavished John Cena with praise, and said that he wants to make him a Paul Heyman guy.
  • If Brock Lesnar retains at NoC, there is no compelling use for him to until Wrestlemania, possibly not even then if Daniel Bryan is unable to return.
  • If Brock Lesnar loses the title cleanly to Cena at NoC, there is compelling use for him period.
  • A John Cena heel turn is the last huge trump card available to WWE, and if WWE loses a large clump of original six month subscribers, this may be the only way to get them back.
On September 20th, there is no way that the IWC's wet dream does not come true.  Paul Heyman will walk to the ring with Brock Lesnar, and he will walk away from the ring with his newest guy, John Cena.

I guarantee it.

Comments

  1. He did it before with Brock and Big Show at Survivor Series 2002. It would be interesting, but I don't see it happening.

So that means Reigns would be the top face until Bryan comes back assuming Orton stays heel?

    ReplyDelete
  3. It won't happen for one reason it makes too much sense

    ReplyDelete
  4. Way to steal material from Vince Russo. pyroandballyhoo.com

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'm betting it won't happen and WWE will stay the course as they usually do.

However, if Zanatude is correct, we all have to worship the ground he walks on. It'd only be fair.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Wait, Vince Russo fantasy booked this or are you being sarcastic?

    ReplyDelete
  7. There's enough that DOESN'T make sense that WWE could still do it.

For instance: why the hell would Paul Heyman jettison the guy who just beat the shit out of John Cena, and had earlier this year ended the Undertaker's streak?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Because Paul craves a cut of those sweet, sweet merch sales?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Russo did it. I had a guy e-mail me the nonsense a week ago.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yes he wrote a fantastic piece about it before Summerslam.

    ReplyDelete
  11. nonsense? Dang Jethro

  12. "A John Cena heel turn is the last huge trump card available to WWE, and if WWE loses a large clump of original six month subscribers, this may be the only way to get them back."
But it would kill their biggest merchandise seller.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'd love to see a Heel Cena as much as the next guy, but it's NOT GONNA HAPPEN! Not now, at least.

    ReplyDelete
  14. It's one of those things you want to see, but it would make no sense from a business standpoint.

  17. You never know where things may go.

In 1996 WCW "killed" their biggest merchandise-seller... which ended up leading to WCW creating its best-selling shirt EVER by an extraordinarily wide margin.

    ReplyDelete
  18. On the other hand, WWF turned Austin heel and.......

It's a risk the WWE shouldn't take at this time.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't really care about Cena merchandise sales (frankly I think heel stuff would sell just as well). I'm not sure what smart fan wouldn't enjoy heel John Cena. I'm also in the camp that believes he won't magically get cheered and will likely get Hollywood Hogan heat.

    ReplyDelete
  20. While Austin was a heel, he created the "What?" catchphrase which sold a shitload of T-shirts.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm in total favor of it. In fact, I think they missed the boat on it a few times, especially when CM Punk was selling more merch than Cena. I just think it's a risky thing to do at this time.

    ReplyDelete
  22. So, Zan pulled a Caliber?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I don't see him leaving money on the table.

    ReplyDelete
  24. When Cena turns, it won't be a PPV named anything other than Wrestlemania or Summerslam

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yea, I should've known better and not read it

    ReplyDelete
  26. Why would Heyman turn on Brock after he just took Undertaker's streak and dethroned Cena in a squash?

    ReplyDelete
  27. zanatude, what if the turn does not occur?

  28. Why does Cena heel turn have to be to Heyman? It could be the Authority...

You know, Cena turning heel would be good for TV business, and it would definitely be the creative boost it sorely needs.

But it kills merch sales: t-shirts, toys, wrist bands, hats, t-shirts, Never Give Up towels, t-shirts, etc.

Cena would have a field day chewing the scenery as a heel, and he's no longer a stale character.

Thousand (millions?) of kids everywhere, including the sick ones, are heartbroken, legitimately.

I feel you Zanatude. It's a roll of the dice, but I don't think they have the balls to pull it off.

  30. Virgil's Gimmick TableAugust 23, 2014 at 9:09 PM

Seems pretty baked to me regardless.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That's what a Cena heel turn is: a roll of the dice. It would be one of the most shocking moments ever, and it could spark a must-see interest in the company. On the other hand, his merch sales would be impacted a lot from losing all of the kiddies money. If they found a serviceable replacement for Cena, then it could be worth rolling the dice. At this moment, though, it would be a bad idea.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It was the usual nonsense of Russo that contnues to expose why he has been a failure since he left the WWF

    ReplyDelete
  33. Of course it involved a swerve.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 23, 2014 at 9:11 PM

I'm wondering if the money from the kids would be replaced with the money from the adults who suddenly thought he was cool.

    ReplyDelete
  35. No and the audience should hate him if he turns heel or else it defeats the point

    ReplyDelete
  36. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 23, 2014 at 9:13 PM

I agree. But, you know.....THIS segment of the universe has been waiting for him to turn heel for about 10 years. You know he would get cheered from that segment.

    ReplyDelete
  37. So he shouldn't turn heel

    ReplyDelete
  38. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 23, 2014 at 9:15 PM

The NWO were heels, but fans thought they were the cool kids in the room and all bought into it. NWO merch sales went through the roof.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yea, and what about the babyfaces? Cena shouldn't turn heel

    ReplyDelete
  40. You can turn him heel and the crowd can respond to it in any way they wish... initially. You can't just have Cena turn heel and just give him an "edge", you have to make him an unlikable prick.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't think they have the faces to challenge him or make up for the lost money at the moment

    ReplyDelete
  42. I could see some sort of "HUSTLE, LOYALTY, TURN HEEL" type of shirt selling big with fans who want him to turn.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 23, 2014 at 9:18 PM

It basically would give them even more fuel to shove Roman Reigns down our collective throats, which is the plan anyway. I don't think it's going to happen with the heel turn, but I'm sure with the way business is going, they're open to ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The void is filled with whoever goes up against him; if the crowd backs the guy who goes up against someone they want beaten, they'll get made.

This is like saying "well we can't turn Bret because we can't put all our eggs in one basket, Steve Austin".

    ReplyDelete
  45. So is not to and thunder from this era really that bad...... or do u just have a fascination with the letter D

    ReplyDelete
  46. He should amp up the corporate shill part of his gimmick to 11 and then he will be an effective heel. It's why people hate his gimmick

    ReplyDelete
  47. There's an argument that he's a wolf in sheep's coating already. A hero to the kids, an insufferable human being to the adults. Some people pay to see him win, others pay to see him get his ass kicked.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yes. It'll get them nowhere if they have Cena return to how he was in 2003.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That's something WWE has trouble with, sometimes. People will boo and cheer wrestlers. So they turn them, but they also turn their character. They shouldn't change their character, because that is why the fans like/dislike them. They should just turn up the volume on it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ok. I know I said above (or below, depending on how your comments are sorted) that a Heel Cena wasn't going to happen, but I've been thinking...

I think that if the WWE was truly ready to move on to the next face of their company, a Cen heel turn may be necessary. Whether it's Reigns, Ambrose, Bryan, or someone else, they are only going to be as strong as the top heel. And right now (excluding Lesnar, who they can't count on being around for any extended period of time) there are no heels at that level. The Authority aren't "competitors" and Randy Orton is not the answer. Only Cena is at a level that can truly elevate a face into the stratosphere.

When you look at major heel turns of the past, there was always a major face to play off of. Savage had Hogan, and Hollywood Hogan had Sting, Luger, and Savage. When Austin shot to the top, he had Shawn Michaels, The Rock, then HHH to build his fan base against.

Among other issues, I believe one reason the Austin heel run failed on '01 was due to a lack of strong heels.

In this day and age, people are going to boo the faces and cheer the heels anyway, so I don't think Cena's merchandise sales would take that huge of a hit. Even his charity work should still remain strong. We've got to remember, kayabe is not the rule of thumb in the wrestling business anymore.

So, we could be getting closer to a Cena heel turn after all. Maybe not as soon as Night Of Champions, buy the sooner rather than later...

    ReplyDelete
  51. Cena as a heel should basically be playing Austin in 2001, and i think he'd be damn good at it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Huh..we both made 2001 Austin references at the same time...

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't get it. It's not like Brock is a sympathetic character, or that Heyman is especially hated. Why would Cena simply allying with Heyman be a "heel turn"?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Great, now I'm thinking of Stanly from that South Park episode when he saw Stan's team lose the hockey games and die.
    "No hope..."
    :flat line:

    ReplyDelete
  55. Same reason he turned on an undefeated champion Brock to align with Big Show, or why Mr Fuji turned on tag champ Demolition for the Powers of Pain. Because wrestling,

    ReplyDelete
  56. Before the match, they run vignettes of Brock saving kittens from drowning and doing the ice bucket challenge.

    Then you'll know something's up.

    ReplyDelete
  57. You cannot turn Cena with no mega full time babyface or two waiting. Roman Reigns is almost there, but turning Cena would be a huge mistake right now.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Because anyone aligned with Heyman is automatically a heel, like Bobby Heenan or Mr Fuji back in the day.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Vince Russo would book a kitten bucket challenge. ..

    ReplyDelete
  60. The only thing that will drive WWE business and revenue is better TV. Its that simple. All of Cena's charity, all of the movies, all of make-a-wish means exactly jack shit to the bottom line. A Cena heel turn (not him joining Paul Heyman, Cena has to turn on the fans ala Foley's turn with the Austin chants) would spark interesting TV.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I don't know. I don't think it's enough. I don't think they CAN do enough. I think Cena's perma-face at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I will shave my beard clean off.

    ReplyDelete
  63. In all seriousness, Sage Rosenfels has a better chance of being the Super Bowl MVP this season than Cena does at turning heel

    ReplyDelete
  64. Would it?

Not all heel turns are the same. See Diesel and Bret Hart.

    ReplyDelete
  65. That's a name I hadn't heard if in a while lol

    ReplyDelete
  66. They're this bad.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Most of us thought the same about Hogan, too.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Even Sage has a better chance than Brian Hoyer.

    ReplyDelete
  69. You doubt that Paul could find a reason?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Hustle
    No Loyalty
    Disrespect

    ReplyDelete
  71. There's just no way they gamble like this. We've been wanting Cena to turn heel since what, 2007?

    ReplyDelete
  72. AND I WOULD WATCH THE SHIT OUT OF IT

    ReplyDelete
  73. Diesel was lowest drawing WWF champion. Bret Hart was being surpassed by Austin, and everyone knew it. They are way different.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Whatever site Caliber stole from.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Maybe The Authority uses Nikki Bella to seduce him to the Dark Side.

    ReplyDelete
  76. "But, you know.....THIS segment of the universe has been waiting for him
to turn heel for about 10 years. You know he would get cheered from that
    segment."

This is why pairing him with Heyman is a genius idea. Heyman is so damn good on the mic that, even though all the smarks love Paul, they're always booing the crap out of him by the end of his near-weekly smarmy promos since they're just so well done.

    ReplyDelete
  77. What does any of this have to do with Southern States Wrestling?

    ReplyDelete
  78. There's actually some decent logic between a Cena heel turn on Lesnar. Here are some of the pros and cons...

    Pros
    * a heel turn would greatly freshen up Cena's character
    * it would be a huge game-changer for WWE's programming
    * pairing Cena with Heyman would be a good way to keep the smarks from now suddenly cheering Cena, since Heyman is such a good talker that he can get heat on anyone. Hell, the smarks love Heyman himself but they're booing his promos every week since he's that damn good at drawing a reaction out of people. It occurs to me that Cena himself wouldn't even have to talk; imagine him just standing there, smirking and shrugging during Heyman's promos...the heat would be off the charts since the dick wouldn't even bother explaining himself.
    * Cena could be aligned with the Authority as 'the ultimate corporate champ' since he finally decided to play ball with them in the wake of Summerslam.

    Cons
    * there's no logical next top babyface ready to oppose Cena, unless Reigns gets the rocket push
    * A big turn like this makes Lesnar the natural one to finally return and beat Cena down, and I'm not sure Brock needs that kind of push.
    * while there's possible value in turning Cena heel, I'm not sure there's as much possible value in turning Lesnar face by default.
    * Heyman is a key part of Lesnar's act. Wasn't there some story about how when Brock cut that awkward "contract demands" promo prior to Extreme Rules 2012 that he went backstage and demanded that Heyman do his talking for him from now on? It wouldn't surprise me if Heyman's involvement was literally part of Brock's WWE contract.
    * as mentioned by others, turning Cena is a big blow to merchandise sales, young viewers' fandom, the Make-A-Wish kids, etc. It might be that WWE simply missed the window on turning Cena and they've made him "too big to fail" as a superface to the kids that make up a crucial part of the PG revenue.

    ReplyDelete
  79. You make some (not all) interesting points, but... No. No, I don't see it happening.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I give him credit through Survivor Series 1998 but it's crazy how sudden of a drop off there is after that. The build to Survivor Series was great and the booking of the show was fantastic but it all immediately went to hell the next night and was horrible from then through 1999.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'm all for a Cena heel turn, as long as it means no more annoying little kids chanting 'Let's go Cena' constantly during his matches like at Summerslam

    ReplyDelete
  82. I agree. He had his hand in a lot of the brilliance from 97 through late 98, but you pretty much pinpointed when it went to shite. They had such a loaded roster at the time, and 1999 was some of the worst writing I've seen. 1999 was carried by star power and 1998's credibility.

    ReplyDelete
  83. WWF from Nov 98-Russo's departure in 1999 was brutally awful. Then they slowly got better until they hit their peak in 2000. With the same roster they had before. And then the Radicalz came in and the show got even better.

Russo did some good stuff from 97-98 but boy did he also give us quite a shit flavored sandwich in 99.

    ReplyDelete
  84. He got more creative control, that's why.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hey, that desperate kid screaming for Cena to make a comeback was the best part of the match.

    ReplyDelete
  86. It's not going to happen. They're already losing a lot of money these days and needing to do cutbacks. Turning their merchandise machine heel will not happen.

    ReplyDelete
  87. This is an absolutely terrible idea.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I'm not endorsing the idea of writing about a Cena heel turn because it's such a tired subject. But them losing money is not a reason to not do it. If you can finish in last place with your best player, you can finish in last without him, as the saying goes.

    ReplyDelete
  89. What about Tim Tebow?

    ReplyDelete
  90. He'd still sell a ton of merch.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Crikey Mate Down Under AussieAugust 23, 2014 at 10:43 PM

"to show a side of himself that he's not proud of"

I feel the WWE have promised this too many times in lesser fights to garner any deeper meaning.

    ReplyDelete
  92. My point was that, in both heel turns, they managed to retain a certain portion of their fan base (guys with black gloves, non-Americans)

Cena could be a heel while keeping the kid fans.

    ReplyDelete
  93. How many more t-shirts could they create for a heel Cena?

    ReplyDelete
  94. I'm also not sure why you'd try a dramatic heel turn AFTER he just became a fascinating/compelling character again. The week before Summerslam and the match itself finally showed a new side of Cena, and as a fan, I finally sympathized with him for the first time since the moment right before he hit the FU on Lesnar to pin him in 2012. Let's explore this current character arc--we're in new territory here.

    ReplyDelete
  95. The side of himself he's not proud of... he's a cross-dressing pedo. Oh wait, that's if Jesse Baker was booking.

    ReplyDelete
  96. It's a testament to how red hot WWE was at the time that they managed to maintain their momentum through some of the crap they served up in '99. WM XV, for example, was easily the worst since IX.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm still going for the Seth cash in no matter who wins.

But really, why would Paul completely betray Brock like that.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Because he did it before?

    ReplyDelete
  99. It's a testament to how exquisite Heyman/Lesnar are in their roles.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I don't blame him for WCW dying.

But him turning Goldberg heel sure seemed like he was trying to kill it.

    ReplyDelete
  101. In fairness, Russo turning Goldberg heel wasn't his idea

    ReplyDelete
  102. Really? Who's idea was it?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Zanatude, I'm not sure whether this is parody or not, but its not gonna happen. And if it does, Vince has gone over the deep end and the company is fucked.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I don't know, that scenario with Cena joining the Authority instead could work. Although it would probably undermine Seth.

But yeah, it won't happen. The most shocking thing that could occur is Seth cashing in and winning.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Especially when the crowd verbally attacked him.

    ReplyDelete
  106. He picked Summerslam. I picked Night of Champions. Completely different.

And of course I ripped somebody off. The last original idea in wrestling was used in 1996. Everything since has been a ripoff of a previous idea.

    ReplyDelete
  107. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 24, 2014 at 12:17 AM

They boo his promos but cheer for Lesnar crushing Cena? If his job is to get the smarks to boo dislike Lesnar, then he failed, based on the reaction to the Summerslam match at the arena and on this board. It may not be all smarks, but I believe some would cheer a heel Cena.

If the response is "no one gets a unanimous reaction," fine, but then you can't imply that Heyman's promos will be enough to keep someone heel to the smark crowd. Heyman could kill Cena's face support among the rest of the audience (like he, and removing the Swing, did for Cesaro), but his presence is not enough to ensure the smarks cheer/boo as they "should."

    ReplyDelete
  108. I would think that my parodies are more obvious.

Like "Paige and Sheamus destined to join forces."

    ReplyDelete
  109. Cena winning without a heel turn is going to kill off all the casual and hardcore fans.

    ReplyDelete
  110. What..what would that even be?

Stick your hand in a bucket of kittens and not smile or make baby talk?

I'd love to see Lesnar take the challenge and fail.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Cena will retire as a face. Merch sales aside, he sells house shows like nobody's business.

    ReplyDelete
  112. ALL of them?

    ReplyDelete
  113. Only if he ends up being a "cool" heel like Austin, the nWo, etc. Do you have faith they can write Cena as a cool heel?

    ReplyDelete
  114. This is just a reminder that none of us, no matter what your favorite dirt sheet says, have any idea how many dates Lesnar does or doesn't have on his deal.

No, he won't be doing house shows or every Raw/PPV, but beyond that, we have no clue.

    ReplyDelete
  115. How exactly would he turn heel? By beating Lesnar to a pulp with a chair? Okay?

And why would Heyman leave Lesnar for Cena? That makes zero sense whatsoever.

Granted. they have done a lot of dumb things lately but this isn't WCW. Get real, guy.

    ReplyDelete
  116. The Steve Austin turn? Works for me.

Leaving a guy that works once in a blue moon for a guy that works every single night bringing in more money? Works for me.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Guessing that Cena will get to choose a stip, and choose Extreme Rules since that's how he beat him last time, and Lesnar will still win an retain. I do believe they'll budget properly to extend Lesnar's contract, and he'll wrestle at every PPV up till WM. He can beat through Sheamus, Big Show, RVD, Cesaro, Orton, Rollins etc on his way to WM and I'd put Bryan up against him there is he's ready and if not substitute in Ambrose (And probably have Roillins cash in on Ambrose the next night on Raw for true continuity).

    ReplyDelete
  118. Obviously not but it's going to kill off a ton of fans.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Sheamus/Lesnar would be a great match if Sheamus cares, but dear god, no, not Show, Orton or RVD. There's no upside to jobbing Cesaro or Rollins to him.

    ReplyDelete
  120. If Brock and Cena don't end up inthe Cell next month, this company hates money.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Both Cena and Paul could join the authority.

Or Cena could join the authority and they could dump Orton, then Orton becomes a babyface! And we get EVEN MORE ORTON AND CENA!!

    ReplyDelete
  122. The promo Paul would give after turning on Brock would melt the tv.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Why would Heyman pick Cena over Lesnar?

Because Cena works every night, plus whatever the fuck ever reason Heyman comes up with.

If the heel makes too much sense, they're a babyface. All that matters is that the motivation makes sense to the heel.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Ya'll poopy heads in the crowd can be quiet!

    ReplyDelete
  125. Nah, that spot should go to Seth and Dean.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I think Brock vs Orton could be good. Maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  127. From what I understand, guys like Ross and Cornette were still on the booking team in 1997 and 1998, so they were able to keep Russo's wackiness grounded. Starting with Survivor Series 1998, Russo became the sole booker with McMahon being the only person for him to answer to.

I have no doubt that McMahon enabled the crap we got in 1999 but he at least kept him from doing the nonsense he did in WCW the moment he jumped ship.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yes. Heyman didn't think Lesnar couldn't beat Big Show so he hedged his bets and went to Big Show.

The Austin turn made sense too, it's just "You don't deserve an explanation" killed it out of the gate.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Because people liked him?

    ReplyDelete
  130. Yea, but you can build assets around your best player to get out of last place.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Compelling idea, except for one thing:

Why would Heyman suddenly decide to screw Brock in favor of someone else. It was stupid in 2002, and it's stupid now.

    ReplyDelete
  132. No, because Lesnar beat the Big Show before Heyman stupidly decided to stop the pin.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Then how is a heel?

    ReplyDelete
  134. And the great thing is, he's already an unlikable prick, you just have to turn up the volume a little more.

    ReplyDelete
  135. You have guys like Ziggler, Reigns, and Bryan when he eventually returns.

    ReplyDelete
  136. The flair heel turn and the hogan face turn just destroyed the company. This was a confusing period for the fans to say the least.

    ReplyDelete

Yes..people have meltdowns on the blog and Cena may or may not turn heel...With that out of the way can we discuss Maya on
GMW? I mean I am pretty sure she's a virgin but what with the parent
issues, and her experience on the subway she has had some fingers down
    there right?

  138. The Cena heel turn should have come at WrestleMania taking the Undertaker's streak. You talking about instant heat, well, there you go.

  139. Compared to the wwf's storytelling at the time, wcw couldn't compete. I don't theyes they were that bad, as I would kill for competition like this on.tv again.

  140. To take it a step further, you could have Heyman and Cena join up with the Authority, explaining that what's best for business is having the WWE World Champion present night in and night out. And then fluff Cena for truly embodying what the WWE sees as a star, and that he's finally got his head on straight, focused on the business. I can't hear it now:

"See, at SummerSlam John realized that he isn't immortal. He realized that there's gonna be a day that he has to hang it up. And with all due respect to Mr. Cena, he's getting older, there's no guarantees. He must capitalize on what's best for John Cena. Which just happens to be what is also best for business. An agreement the benefits not only both parties in this ring, but that locker room full of superstars in the back, and most importantly, the WWE universe."

  141. Dump a bucket of cats on Brock and watch him get the shit scratched out of him. 'Pussy makes Brock tap!'

  142. One-word response:

    No.

  143. The problem is it doesn't make sense. Let's ditch the killer who ended the streak and annihilated Cena and manage the latter because...because.

    Makes TOTAL sense.

Doesn't matter anyway. Cena isn't turning heel.

  144. Well, that was neat.

  145. Ziggler is over huge with crowds.

  146. What... in the BLUEST OF BLUE HELLS... are you speaking about? I can tell it's English, in the same manner that a monkey might eventually type out an English sentence given enough time and supplies.

(But seriously, it seems that you are an army of one on this topic.)

  147. Ehhhhhhhh. Orton runs hot and cold, entirely dependent on whether he's motivated or not and what motivates him seems to change week to week.

  148. It really was. Flair turning makes a bit more sense (though that's not saying much) but it messed up so many more stories.

"the guy just wasn't very good and shouldn't have been on national TV." Naturally, Watts would become the focal point of TNA in a few years.
