  1. I'm curious on just how long WWE will wait before having him start at NXT. What was the timeframe for Zayn?

    ReplyDelete
  2. TNA: EVERYTHING IS FINE!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Steen made it. Now we can see him recreate the Blow Away diet commercial that Buddy. Rose did back in the 80s.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Actually if TNA is telling the truth and are cancelling these shows to make room for more New York TV tapings then this is a good move. They will draw bigger crowds and make more doing this then their pathetic house shows.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Does anyone remember it taking this long for WCW to die? I feel like WCW died in like 2 weeks. TNA is taking forever.

    ReplyDelete
  6. TNA telling the truth. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    ReplyDelete
  7. So did anyone else hear the news about Sheamus being in the next Star Wars movie as Darth Vader?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ok so someone sell me on Steen. I'm seeing some youtube stuff and feel extremely confident there is no way in hell this guy gets over in WWE and that Vince won't have him jobbing to or dancing with Fandango a month in.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yeah that was a hoax, IIRC

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thank goodness.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Looking back at it, will see the gradual death of the company. Like, WCW was shit forever, the purchase by WWF kinda happened but they had been terrible for what, two an a half years?

    ReplyDelete
  12. The boy can work.

It took me a long time to really have an opinion on him but the Steen/Generico tags with the Briscoes and their subsequent fall-out feud made me into a fan.

(yes, i admit to watching indy shit)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah, the bottom just fell out in March of 99.

They had some glimpses of shit with Steiner/Goldberg but it was far too gone by then.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thats fine he can work but so can Chris Hero...who actually went through the work to get the shirtless body so on and so forth and he STILL never got to the big time. I don't see him getting over with Vince.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well, it could be a flashback of some kind. Or he's just a character in the movie in general and NOT Darth Vader.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh I agree

He doesn't have a good chance based on appearance but if he turns into a trainer/buffer for the new guys coming up in NXT (ala Del Ray) then I consider it a win.

    ReplyDelete
  17. He's an awesome worker, like world class. And he's a big hoss. He has a very solid chance of pulling this off. Also he has unbelievable chemistry with sami zayn. The ladder match they had was off the charts. If he feuds with zayn in nxt it will turn a lot of heads. And he's very good on the mic. I wouldn't be shocked if he ended up as a main event guy.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 1) That should read "begins," not begin. Also, I'm REALLY curious to see how - or if - Steen will fit with the company.
    2) That's all well and dandy IF YOU'RE NOT GETTING FUCKED OVER BY ROGERS IN CANADA.
    3) EVERYTHING IS FINE.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Woo. Gotta update the firmware on my Samsung BD player.

Steen is *EXACTLY* the kind of guy they need to be picking up. Even if he wasn't the worker he is he talks circles around their current roster.

    ReplyDelete
  20. To be fair, Hero was out of his element in the WWE. He could not adapt and never stood out in anything he ever did in developmental

    ReplyDelete
  21. Chris Hero is generic indy guy #135 compared to Steen. Steen has a weird charisma and star factor that hero didn't have and he is a better worker, a better promo guy and bigger. Hero was just not in good enough shape but Steen can make his hossness part of a gimmick.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well everyone can feel free to say I told you so...but here and now I'm saying Never Gonna Happen. I hope the guy is good, I hope I'm rooting for him soon and it works out but unless Vince isn't in charge by then he is going to see a guy who looks like he should be setting up the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Honestly, wwe style seems right up steens alley. This feels like a right fit

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hero was in shape.

He was just wasnt cosmetically pleasing

    ReplyDelete
  25. What does the WWE network have against the Wii U?

    ReplyDelete
  26. That's years of being forced to accept one type of look for a wrestler.

    ReplyDelete
  27. He's humongous and looks like a wrestler, not a ring worker imo

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nooooo... I disagree.

Steen's moveset is way more Japan than WWE. He is way too stiff.

    ReplyDelete
  29. humongous? I'm looking at his Wiki..he is 5'11

    ReplyDelete
  30. Also check out the nxt roster. Steen/zayn/devitt/kenta/Neville/

    ReplyDelete
  31. Plus he got serious promo chops

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hate to tangent but if I was Punk, I would come back once Ambrose/Rollins/Zayn/Bryan/Steen (iff possible) are all permanent fixtures on the roster and start a new Kliq.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm glad to hear all this and until I have a reason to be against someone will always root for a new guy I just see him having an extra huge hole to dig himself out of.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well I'm assuming he's talented enough to adapt but he wrestles like a wwe guy and can brawl with the best of them. I can easily see him mains eventing

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ziggler, Cesaro, Daniel Bryan, kenta, zayn, Steen, devitt, ambrose, Rollins, Neville, and maybe even punk again one day. This how the wwe keeps me as a fan.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The same thing that most 3rd party developers have against the Wii U, I guess. I've owned every North American Nintendo console, but I'm skeptical to buy the Wii U because of it's control pad.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Adapt?

Look up suicidaldragon's top ten Kevin Steen moves and tell me if 3 of them get approved by WWE.

He will have to learn WWE style (which shouldnt be hard)
    cut some weight
come up with a finisher that the guys will take

Im glad for the guy and I hope for the best, but its such an uphill battle for him.

Unless, HHH has this master plan keeping these indy guys on the backburner for a while. Cuz PAC and Zayn were ready yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The business has gotten smaller.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Also, keep your eyes on this Eminence Capital story. They are REALLY aggressive and active. Notorious for using litigation and other pressures to force a lot of issues. They basically singlehandedly forced the men's warehouse/JAB merger this year. I was really suprised to see they just bought up 10% of the wwe stock. They are absolutely up to something here.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ambrose and Wyatt were there forever too. So that's a good sign for them

    ReplyDelete
  41. John Cena is stronger than any Kliq.

    ReplyDelete
  42. They may be, but they can't buy enough stock to do anything. The McMahons have not released enough to the public for it to be anything more than a novelty. And if Eminence tries anything, Vince will just buy them out and go private again. They may be sharks, but they're in Vince's ocean now.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It's unfortunate, because the Wii U is a solid little system.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cena can't wrestle forever though.

My biggest thing is that with all these indy guys coming thru the piepline and making waves, once Cena/Orton step down or the youth movement really becomes the norm, these are gonna be the guys.

The indy guys should really band together to secure their spots, cuz they are talented enough and now deep enough to really upset the apple cart

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yes because Vince never falters in the business world...say....pissing off world wildlife federation and having to rename his company.....losing legal battle after legal battle to things like Superstars of Wrestling....

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yea but buying up 10% of the public stock means nothing when the mcmahon stock is like 4-5 votes to every publics 1.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Exactly. This isn't about legal competence. It's about mathematics.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Not at all. They have enough stock to do all kinds of things. There are dozens and dozens of ways to force the wwes hands to do something that don't involve Vince voting. And this fund knows every trick and Ricky Sandler is a genius and a aggressive dude. I highly doubt they are trying to overthrow Vince, I don't know what they are doing though. The controlling shareholders at MW absolutely didn't want to merge with jab and they forced it through.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I bet Bret Hart thought that, too.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm not disagreeing that point really and don't know about this Eminence group to argue about it. I'm just pointing out the ..."Well...Vince wouldn't let that happen this is his world" attitude is a bit shaky when history has proven Vince has still run this company like a carny on a number of occasions that have come back to bite him.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Okay -- serious thought: if you know, what can 10% do to a company? Because I think the answer otherwise is "they're buying low". Remember, we just came off of a bizarre bubble caused by rumors that no one can substantiate and could be easily disproven. So in their mind, maybe this is just an investment opportunity.

The other thing is, as said before, Vince being who he is he would rather go private again than have people tell him what to do.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Difference: Vince never got behind Bret 100%. Cena's got the support of the three people that matter most: Vince, Steph, and Dunn. (And probably HHH too, but he'd get outvoted anyway.)

    ReplyDelete
  53. i agree, vince is an idiot when it comes to dealing with anything outside his bubble (and alot within it)

But the mcmahons stock and the public stock is so disparaging its disgusting. Even owning 10% sways nothing if it comes down to a vote.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It means these guys have their hooks in and they do not fuck around. If Vince isn't squeezing every penny to their satisfaction they have a tool box full of options to proceed with, none of which would require Vince's permission. I guarantee you they don't want to take over, but other than that I have no clue what's happening or why he's so interested. Something is going on, either good or bad that will we here about soon so I'm just suggesting people may want to follow this story.

    ReplyDelete
  55. The control pad is fantastic. I wasn't sure going in but I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Well I for one am not intrigued and will keep an eye on it. Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  57. Here's an thought: Could Vince even AFFORD to buy the outstanding stock back up without really fucking up the WWE's financial situation?

Even if it's a minority, it would still be an expensive minority.

    ReplyDelete
  58. OH, SO THE MIDCARD MAFIA ARE THE GRAMMER POLICE NOW

*changed my mistake on the verge of tears

    ReplyDelete
  59. I was thinking that too, all the talk about just buying it back. He might be able to right now but for how long if they keep losing money in the network growing period.

    ReplyDelete
  60. At 10%, you're talking about $80M as of now. I think he can find the liquidity in his personal account.

    ReplyDelete
  61. 694M as of today is his net worth.

    ReplyDelete
  62. ... but Vince would have to buy back ALL the public stock, not just the 10% these guys own. Otherwise they just buy some more off of others, and here we go again.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Matching Cena shower towels to go with the hand towels will make up the difference.

    ReplyDelete
  64. God damnit, Bayless! Get it together!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Unfortunately, they would need a forklift to pick him up....

    .....He's FAT.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I see what you did there.

    ReplyDelete
  67. A bit random, but I've been watching a healthy amount of WWE from 05 because that's the year I was really out of the product and noticed that Cena has aged considerably since then which came as a surprise to me. I just always assumed he had the same appearance since I started watching again in late 06 but you can see a definitive change in his face.
Again, don't know how that applies to anything but it has led me to believe that one day he's not actually going to wrestle.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Question about Steen: when I saw some of his early work, I knew he had potential to be a big deal -- he was a decent middleweight. But all the clips I've seen of him lately make me think he's a bowling ball... I know he's only 6' max, but he looks 300+ easily. Is he like a Samoa Joe where the weight doesn't hinder him, or is this a case of someone with a red flag of "cannot control weight"?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Don't forget Bray Wyatt!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Yeah that'll happen over the course of 10 years

    ReplyDelete
  71. They aren't the type of place that rides bubbles. This is a major private hedge fund that is on the cutting edge of analytics, and employs a bunch of the guys who invented many of the new things you can trade money on like stock derivatives. They are not coming in to hold this and sell it. That is not their IMO at all. I am very familiar with Sandler and Eminence and they have made major moves over and over in zinc and copper that affected worldwide prices. This is not some ham n egger hedge fund. But again, they are not trying to push out Vince. No chance they would bother. They are up to something else.

What could they do with 10%? HOld the wwes balls to fire if they aren't fulfilling every bit of their fiduciary duty to Sandler's satisfaction and they now have enough stock to have standing to pursue every legal remedy and litigation tactic under the sun.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yeah, I love that thing. Playing Zelda? Here's a map in your hands and a way to really quickly switch between items. Same goes for a bunch of other games including shooters. Mario Kart is gorgeous. The new Zelda games look amazing. It's a quality system.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Not necessarily.

    ReplyDelete
  74. As long as they show Vince their thighs, they all have a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  75. If Jim Ross were still around he would fat shame him in the Ross Report every week.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I just love laying in bed and playing the games straight on the pad itself. I have yet to actually play the Wii U on my television.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I saw something from back then recently and had a similar oh..wow..but yeah that is going to happen to just about anyone over 9 years. It has to me thats for sure. Compare any of the others like, Punk, Orton, Batista over that period and you forget how young everyone looked.

    ReplyDelete
  78. But they are firing people anyways.

Unless Sandler is in the know of who is doing what with what on the creative side, they are a toothless pitbull IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  79. When you first saw Cena he was 27 - he's now 37. Naturally his face will have changed

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well...we can't all be as genetically gifted as Ross.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I...I... dont know how to respond to this.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I dont see Cena full time by 2020 tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  83. And he'd use a lot of euphemisms for fat with "quotation marks" like he's doing air quotes every 3 goddamn sentences.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Maybe -- just maybe -- they see the Network as being what it is: years ahead of its time. And they figure that other entities will be asking WWE for backup in making their own internal service. And that means big money for Vince and, in turn, for them. If their thing is conductive metals, then they must believe Vince will be a big man in needing infrastructure and fiber optics -- the very things copper especially is used for.

I mean, I don't know either, but I'd like to think it's benign.

    ReplyDelete
  85. So you are saying you noticed his "subtle" jabs?

    ReplyDelete
  86. There might be a stock increase once the other countries launch and they are buying low and selling high for a quick buck.

I dont see this company having a long term stake in the WWE

    ReplyDelete
  87. Odds are they know of either something good or bad that's about to happen to something related to the wwe and setting themselves up to take advantage of it. Also if they do bite these guys are not toothless. They had less % of men's warehouse then they do of the wwe and shocked the financial world by forcing that merger. Again I'm not saying they will get Vince out, just saying something is up, could be good or bad.

    ReplyDelete
  88. It's not like he's working a Kevin Nash of wrestling. When there's a big match, the dude goes.

    ReplyDelete
  89. But if they "know something" thats insider trading correct?

    That's illegal.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I'd go shorter than that. I could see him part time in a couple years unless Vince is throwing millions at him because he has no one to carry the card.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I think he's aged extraordinarily well. Yeah, there's an extra line or two on his and Lesnar's faces, but they practically look like they've time traveled from 2002 for this fight. In addition, the fact that his face and head haven't expanded would lead me to believe that maybe he's not on as much PEDs as suspected.

    ReplyDelete
  92. You're right but by 2020 with the schedule he has kept up, his body isn't going to get better, its gonna get worse. He has been in the WWE since 01-02 and been on top since 05... Thats damn near ten on top. Thats almost longer than Hogan and nearly up there with Bruno.

While he doesnt work Hogan's road schedule, he does way more personal apps and certainly more than Bruno's schedule.

I see him severely reducing his schedule in the next 2-3 years and then going into part time mode by 2020.

    ReplyDelete
  93. They definitely don't have any long term stake. They are in to make some kind of move and get out. I'd be suprised if it was for that quick of a flip though, but then again I'd be suprised if the international market network subs moved the stock up that much. Their reputation is traditionally that they take advantage of unhealthy companies and situations but I also don't follow every move they make so its possible this isn't one of those cases. Either way, another shoe will drop at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  94. That's a good point.

I always thought Cena was on roids especially after his pec tear and return.

But if anything, he has gotten smaller since that tear

    ReplyDelete
  95. I wouldn't either, but facts are facts.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Total illegal. But these guys in particular have like algorithms and formulas I couldn't even begin to really understand that basically act like a crystal ball. Eminence is like if you crossed Gordon Gecko with Matt Damon in good will hunting

    ReplyDelete
  97. I see your point but I also see Cena as a dude that probably has been saving his money and see what a brock makes for what brock works and has to be thinking ...I could enjoy my 40's with a lot less pain in the morning going offically full time in a couple years and still make big money because Vince will give it to me.

    ReplyDelete
  98. That's a lot of $9.99 subscriptions!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Well Canada is coming with the Network idk the specifics of how many est will it reach but Im sure its a sizeable chunk.

Europe will follow and Japan after that.

I dont recall if they are looking to India and China. If they hit those markets thats news that would drive the stock price way up due to the fact that those 2 countries are roughly 1/4 of the worlds population.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Highly unlikely they have benign motives but its 50-50 whether its based on a bad thing they are trying to capitalize on or a good thing they are trying to leech off.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Yes, exactly.

I love JR, but his barbq blog "writing" style drove me "crazy."

    ReplyDelete
  102. I loved back when he was more involved in creative and then said stuff in the Ross Report about hoping such and such would get a fair shake or someone was an up and comer who he hoped would get a bigger push..as if he was some outsider looking in.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Only Quasimodo and Egor can be. It's an exclusive group.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I find it somewhat humorous that TNA has reached out for help in figuring out how not to tape so far in advance that they spoil their own PPVs.

    ReplyDelete
  105. There is a "ring the fucking bell" joke in there some where.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Yeah, that was cool, but it was the style itself that bugged me.

    ReplyDelete
  107. It sounds like only part of Canada is getting it though, and its like a watered down TV channel. China and India would be huge but how much of either population has something to watch the network on, has the spare cash to pay for it, and what's the broadband internet like throughout the country?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Sorry...

    ....."Brilliant".

    ReplyDelete
  109. Put it this way: can't be worse than Australia, can it?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Okay, lets just say for shits and gigs that out of the 2 billion people in India and china, only 10% could carry it and only 1% actually purchased it.

    thats still 2 million... WIN.

    ReplyDelete
  111. WWE Network launch day in Canada and yup just as i figured, it's exclusive to Rogers customers! It'll change eventually of course but as of now even my local Shaw cable reps say they have no idea when it's coming or even if negotiations have begun.

Guess they don't really want our...$11.99!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Yes, the "brilliance" of having Bound For Glory in Japan, resulting in not having enough time or resources to tape a new Impact for the following Thursday. LOLTNA.

    ReplyDelete
  113. That sounds good but they only got 700k subs on their home base. Getting more wwe network subscribers in China than America seems unlikely. It could happen though.

    ReplyDelete
  114. #RISEABOVETHESOMAS

    ReplyDelete
  115. How many people have Rogers vs Shaws?

    ReplyDelete
  116. wwe has officially become STEENINATED!!!!!!!

    woohoo!!!

    (sorry, farva)

    ReplyDelete
  117. Think of how much it will cost for the reinforced rings???!!!

They're going to have to cut more talent because of this.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Nintendo has always done things well. Their problem is they often ignore the market and the demand. It has often worked in their favor, because they are Nintendo, and they can control and influence the market and demand up to a point (less and less every year).

Nintendo marches to the beat of their own drum. Everybody thought the Virtual Boy sucked. And it did. Everybody thought the N64 came out too late. And it did. Everybody thought the Super NES came out too late. But it still won it's generation. Everybody thought the Wii sucked. But it sold like hotcakes. Time after time people knock Nintendo's portal market. Until recently, they've ALWAYS won at the portable market (Gameboys, DS).

Time will tell if Nintendo can pull out another rabbit.

    ReplyDelete
  119. That's what I meant. What he's doing to his body would destroy most in a few years. He's willing to take a lot of impact. I doubt he turns into Edge at the least.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Im not saying that per se.

What Im saying is that 1M was their magic number to break even, right?

Where does it matter where the 1M comes from? Yeah it would be nice to tell investors we got 1M in the states, but between UK/Japan/Canada Im sure they will hit that mark.

Cool, now they break even-ish (idk about the operating costs in other countires but its all digital so i couldnt see it being that much more)

You go out to the two biggest countries in the world and get your foothold there. You have to take that risk just because of the sheer numbers. Its way too much reward there. WWE is a global brand. People come from all over the world to come to WM. Its very recognizable. Those are the 2 markets every company needs to be in because like i said above, even at 1% between the two countries... its 2 million.

The money upside is just crazy to me.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Actually WCW was getting good in like its last six months (probably when Russo was gone forever). Lance Storm, Sean O'Haire (before WWE fucked him up), Chuck Palumbo, Shane Helms, Shannon Moore, A.J. freakin' Styles and others were working the midcard, and guys like Luger, Buff, Nash and DDP were actually putting new guys over. It was a rebuilding stage, but I wish we would've gotten to see what that roster could do, instead of WWF absorbing these guys and wrecking most of them.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Internet connected TVs = Smart TVs correct?
I have a Vizio so that will be another option outside of my PS3.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Is there an online component in Canada or is it an actual channel?

    ReplyDelete
  124. and the buffets of course. always remember the buffets.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Just imagine me arriving on the scene like the minion in Despicable Me 2. Wearing a fireman's helmet with siren. Only in this case, it'd be a police helmet of some sort.

    BEE-DO-BEE-DO-BEE-DO-BEE-DO!

    ReplyDelete
  126. No online component, it's an actual channel with VOD.

How much VOD? Who knows i'll have to wait and read some reviews hopefully some people here on the Blog have signed up.

    ReplyDelete
  127. CENAAGESLOL

    ReplyDelete
  128. Not necessarily. Does your TV have options for Netflix etc... built in?

    ReplyDelete
  129. I like Cheeseburger In Paradise more than Margaritaville...

    ReplyDelete
  130. Who cares?

    #ThisIsAmericaDamnIt
    #WeThePeople

    ReplyDelete
  131. Ho ho! Is funny because Steen not slim!

    ReplyDelete
  132. They didn't have a place on the roster for Davey Richards or Eddie Edwards, but they'll sign this worthless fat fuck to a contract? Fuck this company.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Guess what... when you go from your middle 20's to your middle 30's... you are going to age a lot also.

    GET OFF MY LAWN!

    ReplyDelete
  134. WCW was showing glimpses, but the brand was so far damaged by then, it was a risk to the paying customer to purchase it.

So while i agree with you, the bottom (the paying customer) fell out in March 99 at Uncensored when they did a esitmated 90% drop off in buys from the year before.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I'm so happy you got it! I wasn't sure at first, but there you go proving the doubters wrong! :)

    ReplyDelete
  136. It's geographic, Rogers as a cable provider isn't available in Western Canada, period.

You can buy their cell phone service nationwide but old fashioned cable? Nope. Canada is carved up like the old territory days when it comes to cable tv.

Last numbers i've seen is there's about 12 million cable subscriber homes in Canada and Rogers has about 2.25 Million and Shaw is close behind with over 2 million.

  137. lol.... Oh noes, a few indy guys didn't get signed!! WWE SUCKS!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  138. "Give yourself to the Darkside Fella!"

    ReplyDelete
  139. Somewhat O/T: Vince has been trying to force me to like Swagger years, and he finally does it and he's really just "generic flagwaiver #242".

This shows that it honestly doesn't take much for me to like something. It also shows that most shit currently on the show is reprehensibly bad.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Davey Richards is an asshole. Edwards I'll agree is too bad, but I think he didn't want to break up the act.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I wasn't in the live thread last night until the very end because I was busy exploiting Robin Williams death for my own financial gain (America Love It Or Leave IT) did everyone stroke out when he beat Cesaro?

    ReplyDelete
  142. Welcome aboard the bandwagon. Tickets, please. Don't mind me; I'm the driver.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Totally agree, love the WiiU

    ReplyDelete
  144. Since his weight gain he has adapted more of a brawling style, but really he is still the same wrestler. He can still do the high flying shit, technical wrestling, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Those two are OVERRATED

    ReplyDelete
  146. I wasn't in the live thread either. I was watching with the sound down as I folded some laundry. I'm guessing people flipped their shit. I really don't care. Both guys are great. To be honest, I kind of wish the Real Americans would get back together and beat up the Usos.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I'll admit it....Swagger has grown on me. Of course, Dutch is helping it a great deal.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Last I checked, the product sucks, the company is run by morons at most major levels, and Steen is an indy guy as well. Your point? Or were you just trying to be an asshole?

    ReplyDelete
  149. Seriously we're talking about two guys who couldn't play ball politically in the lax Ring of Honor environment and we're expecting the WWE to give them deals? They are ridiculously talented but do you really think they're going to do business with them if they can't be grownups?

    ReplyDelete
  150. Vanilla Midgets FTW!!!!

....cause we don't have enough of those guys.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I think both are fantastic workers but you see how much they've done in TNA which is jack and shit. They haven't moved the needle at all. Based on the bellyflop they've done there why would WWE have any interest?

    ReplyDelete
  152. Same reason Young Bucks will probably never get picked up by the WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  153. How many vanilla midgets does WWE really have? Rollins definitely isn't in that category at this point. Maybe Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd?

    ReplyDelete
  154. About 2 months for him to make the show.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Young Bucks have improved a ton and grown up a lot in their time overseas. They would be a good pickup now.

One of the best things the WWE has done in ignoring guys is not give the Briscoes a deal. Fuck their backwoods homophobe bullshit and their shitty flippy flop style. I highly enjoyed jeering them every chance I got at Ring of Honor when they were "faces."

    ReplyDelete
  156. You're reaching Vince Jackson level of troll status bud

    ReplyDelete
  157. Steen at least is unique. Richards and Edwards would be two Evan Bourne's out there.

    ReplyDelete
  158. not sure why people lump eddie in with davey's faults. i've never heard a bad word about eddie, whereas davey is infamous for having a shit attitude

    ReplyDelete
  159. Idk, iv still heard nothing but ego's getting in the way and them not wanting to play ball.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's mainly Richards that's a pain in the ass right?

    ReplyDelete
  161. I heard he was part of the falling out as well but I haven't been up on ROH news in years so I could be wrong.

And that is exactly how somebody who doesn't keep up with all the newz is going to perceive.

    ReplyDelete
  162. The problem is that the Manhattan Center is ridiculously expensive to run, and their shows last week didn't sell out like a couple of their June shows that are currently airing did. The novelty of "TNA in NYC" has worn off.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Rollins is definitely in that category to Vince.

    1) He wears pants
    2) His thighs must not be molest-able

    Therefore, he's a vanilla midget.

    ReplyDelete
  164. No idea. I haven't kept up with ROH in years since we don't get Sinclair stuff in metro Detroit unless you live near Wixom.

    ReplyDelete
  165. I agree the product sucks but kevin Steen is like 8 million times better than Richards. Richards is the trademark indy worker. Steen is just better in every aspect.

    ReplyDelete
  166. They should be looking for less buff big guys and vanilla midgets and more Steen and Bray type guys who stand out, not just fat, different. Harper, etc...

    ReplyDelete
  167. Rollins has done softcore gay porn and his thighs are not considered molestable?

    ReplyDelete
  168. fair enough on the 2nd part

as to the 1st, roh specifically told davey he wasn't welcome at final battle '13, so eddie got to say goodbye and put over the decade but davey wasn't even mentioned. i always interpreted the wolves leaving as just looking for what they considered a better opportunity, with the addition backstage of "good riddance to davey"

    ReplyDelete
  169. Why DO I hate all Samoans?

I think it's time for some self reflection.

    ReplyDelete
  170. that's always been my impression

    ReplyDelete
  171. Chris Benoit sank Davey's chance to be anything in the business before Davey even caught on if you're asking me. I think he has a lot of Benoit's talent and hasn't murdered anybody but I think nobody wants to invite the comparison, though every now and then they like to flaunt it in our face by letting HHH or someone do a crossface. I think that's more HHH waving his dick around and showing what he's allowed to do.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Let Jojo Walters or whatever dumb name they give Steen resume his feud with Sami Zayn and that should be some good NXT for a little bit.

    ReplyDelete
  173. i totally hear you on the benoit stuff

1st time i ever saw davey was in 2006 or so, and while he impressed the hell out of me, he also made me think of benoit (who obviously was still alive at the time)

but now when the benoit comparisons pop to mind for davey, they're accompanied by "oh, right" which just by association brings davey down a notch

doesn't help that the person that benoit was always associated with (dynamite kid) is a huge POS, as well

    ReplyDelete
  174. Not to Vince. If they were molestable, Vince would force him to wear shorts.

Look, I don't write the rules.

    ReplyDelete
  175. I'm not familiar with ROH guys, but AT LEAST Steen has a more unique look, and would stand out more than "generic 210 lbs flippy floppity indy guy #2842". So I will definitely give Steen a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  176. hah, joke's on you

    they already have a jojo!!!

    ReplyDelete
  177. This is correct. Eddie is welcome back anywhere on the indies. Davey has burned every bridge except TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  178. i approve of your avatar of the titty master

    ReplyDelete
  179. I forgot about that girl...she was the one who got dropped from Total Divas.

That's like being replaced on a soap opera because you can't act.

    ReplyDelete
  180. On top of that, can't you argue that Daniel Bryan is the new Benoit anyway? Similar submission hold, diving headbutt, rises on sheer talent, smark darling...

    ReplyDelete
  181. Except that nothing I say is serious, and I'm not a delusional nut gobbler.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Okay, I'll ask: where is this coming from? Does Vince really feel up the talent like that? The MALE talent, anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  183. didnt follow the live thread, but i'm assuming at least one of the following happened:

    - people were hoping someone would pop out of one of the presents and made comparisons to the wcw angle with sting in '91

    - when the announcers said steph had a confession, people started talking about the savage rumor

    - as soon as it became apparent where the angle with the PT was going, people started talking about claire lynch. i bet some people (myself included) even mentioned that it would be hilarious if they actually had used claire lynch

    - when the promo for main event aired with the usos' open challenge, some people commented it would be answered by the ascension

    ReplyDelete
  184. Beating HHH and winning the world title at a Wrestlemania that ends with the digit "0"

    ReplyDelete
  185. depends on the point of comparison

the way davey carries himself is extremely similar to benoit, which is where that comes from

the circumstances surrounding dbry's career might echo benoit, but in terms of overall perception, they're nothing alike

    ReplyDelete
  186. ...in a triple threat match, by submission...

    ReplyDelete
  187. Which only proves that THE YETAAAAY MIGHT be on the WWE creative team.

Tell me Mr. THE YETAAAAY......do you regularly take it up the pooper from Kevin Dunn?

We'll wait breathlessly for the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  188. While the IWC bitched about how WWE was ruining his title reign just a few months in.... (I just ruined it, didn't I?)

    ReplyDelete
  189. Way to fail me. The correct answer was "Because this is America, now say with me in a loud clear voice WE THE PEOPLE!"

    ReplyDelete
  190. Well, I didn't want to be obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  191. ...but he as an excessive amount of adipose tissue!

    ReplyDelete
  192. -at least one person swore they would never watch again when Swagger beat Cesaro

    ReplyDelete
  193. Steen's so much better of a prospect than Davey-- actual promo ability, unique look, and being able to craft a match that isn't just spot monkey flippitty flops and bad MMA impressions.

And also Davey's such a dick he couldn't even navigate the political environment of ROH--- why would WWE waste their time on the guy?

Richards is as indieriffic as it gets.
