Kurt Angle Update
Angle has reportedly been pitching an idea to the WWE that would have him work a similar schedule as Shawn Michaels did in his last few years with the company, just working the big shows and limited dates. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, at the best he can tell the WWE hasn't shown much interest

WWE Telling Wrestler to Stop Using a Certain Move?
Reportedly, the WWE has told Dean Ambrose to stop using the running cannonball spot in the corner. The reason: they want to save the move for Kevin Steen when he makes his debut in the WWE.

I Miss 2000-2003, early 2006 Kurt Angle
ReplyDeleteKurt is negotiating with WWE the way TNA is negotiating with Spike.
ReplyDeleteThe chael sonnen story going around today is hysterical. The wwe actually called him to say we have no interest in you because you're too old but then told him if TNA contacted him they would absolutely want to sign him. That's from chael himself
ReplyDeleteWWE really seems to be high on Kevin Steen.
ReplyDelete"Reportedly, the WWE has told all the wrestlers to stop eating from the kraft services table. The reason: they want to save the table for Kevin Steen when he makes his debut in the WWE."
ReplyDeleteFTFY....'cause he's FAT.
Ambrose has been well and truly cuckolded with that one if it's true
ReplyDeleteI bet they're really regretting wasting the Husky Harris name on Bray now.
ReplyDeleteIf Chael is interested, WWE would be crazy not to pick him up. Just the promos alone would be worth it.
ReplyDeleteIs that true? Doesn't make much sense...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mmafighting.com/2014/8/13/6000145/chael-sonnen-on-phone-call-from-wwe-exec-metamoris-nac-olympic
ReplyDeleteNot a dirt sheet rumor, that's a direct quote from sonnen
ReplyDeleteThe drug test failures are troubling though. They do not want to deal with that.
ReplyDeleteAmbrose has a pretty limited approved move set as is, although im shocked the WWE would be that forward thinking for someone who hasn't even debuted in NXT yet.
ReplyDeleteI don't get how he's too old at all
ReplyDeletewell he needs a competitive edge in shoot fighting. He wouldn't need it in WWE if he's booked to win. So unless it's an actual addiction, they should be fine.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they care that much
ReplyDeleteIs Kurt still contracted to TNA? Whatever the status of the company is, WWE can get slammed again legally for negotiating with someone under contract to another company. If they're not showing interest, I guarantee that's why.
ReplyDeleteI really wish they would sign Angle, what a great veteran addition he would make .
ReplyDeleteThere's always Plumpy Peterson, Tuttles Thomas, and Fatty Ferguson.
ReplyDeleteWow.. between this and publicly tweeting that shit about ADR last week, WWE really is the most ridiculous company on the planet
ReplyDeleteYou believe Chael?
ReplyDeleteIf it's true, I should've added. Big chance Chael is talking shit.
ReplyDeleteA strong stable presence in the locker room.
ReplyDeleteI think they are all about trying to portray a certain image. Chael might not fit that.
ReplyDeleteKurt is still under contract for two months. I totally agree with you. Wwe has been I'm trouble for this before so they have to act this way. No way to truly gauge vkms interest in angle until his deal is up.
ReplyDeleteThis pretty much sums up my thoughts on it. http://uproxx.com/sports/2014/08/chael-sonnen-wont-be-going-to-wwe-if-this-imaginary-conversation-he-had-is-to-be-believed/
ReplyDeleteI'm just shocked that after all of the Kevin Sheen jokes we made, they ended up hiring him.
ReplyDeleteWell at least he's white, that's apparently a good step in the right direction for the wwe now a days.
ReplyDeleteEven if they're talking quietly, there's no way anyone would tell Meltzer. It would blow the whole thing, and it would give TNA a chance to sue WWE, and an infusion of WWE money could help a struggling company...
ReplyDeletefor an untrained first time wrestler...he is the same age as Cena
ReplyDeleteYup exactly. Vince right now has to say no way about this
ReplyDeleteShamrock couldn't have been much younger though right?
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't have to wrestle. He could be a mouthpiece.
ReplyDeleteYeah why wouldn't I?
ReplyDeleteThat just made me think of that one episode of Family Guy when Brian is on the reality show and he made a joke about Chevey Chase.
ReplyDelete"You're gonna cut that out right? I don't want to be sued........I mean the guy has got to have no money left."
It ends next month I believe.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been great if he would have retired before the roid thing but now he is just too damaged of goods, he is an ex con who has been caught cheating with substances that is priority #1 for WWE to run the other way from.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like Kurt is the one coming up with the ideas.
ReplyDeleteI doubt Vince takes him back to be honest. Too risky
That pisses me off about Angle. Is he that much of a head case that can't just give him a Legends deal? MONEY ON THE TABLE!!!
ReplyDeleteI like how some people just want to say everything ever reported about wrestling is a complete lie. Why would you even be in a place like this then?
ReplyDeleteHow ironic, same month when TNA has all of those cancelled house shows.
ReplyDeleteI doubt Kurt would pass the WWE physical at this point.
ReplyDeleteBy all accounts...he is and he might get a legends deal but Vince would rather have money on the table than a dead gold medalist on his roster.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he's not gonna be Ric party crazy, he's just gonna be killing himself in the ring crazy.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but I don't think that's the point. Legally, WWE can't be seen to be negotiating with talent contracted to another company, especially after the crap they went through a couple of years ago. They would get slammed pretty hard, I would think.
ReplyDeleteFor all you hopefuls out there Vince looks at Kurt and sees Benoit.
ReplyDeleteWhich is why he should have just a non compete clause.
ReplyDeleteLegends deals are like $10,000 a year. I'm sure he still thinks/wants to work at least part time.
ReplyDeleteKurt pitching ideas to the WWE and them barely responding is perfectly fine.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I was unaware of that. Well, at least an RVD/Jericho deal?
ReplyDeleteWell, he spent have any kids he sees on a regular bases, and I don't think he's been performing unprotected head butts all his life.
ReplyDeleteBut they're JUST FINE.
ReplyDeleteThat would be nice. Angle working the big PPV's would be cool. There's plenty of guys on the roster that he could have really good matches with.
ReplyDeleteBecause what he says makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteChael talking out of his butt again.
ReplyDeleteI feel i'm going to be going through the five stages of denial of Kurt coming back.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder Mick was having issues.
ReplyDeleteSome people don't realize that wrestling reporting is like beat writers for sports teams. You are not going to hit on every single thing. You report rumors the same way. Its like getting pissed at a beat writer for listing off a team having several trade targets and not getting every single person they list off and calling them a liar.
ReplyDeleteFeels like the wwe is higher on Steen than any other prospect in a long time
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of moves, who's gonna be the lucky one to bring back the shooting star press?
ReplyDeleteYeah, they seem to really like the guy and he has all the right endorsements.
ReplyDeleteI've always been partial to T-Bone
ReplyDeleteThey should just give it to KENTA since he needs a new finisher or Devitt unless he uses Bloody Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling....
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine if Chris Broussard was a wrestling reporter!
ReplyDeleteNeville uses a variation of it already.
ReplyDeleteIts very possible he and sami zayn main event wwe ppvs down the line.
ReplyDeleteBy that I mean the ticking time bomb ready to explode. Lets say Kurt is cleaned up and will stay that way forever...oh good now I only have to worry about his ravaged broken down body expiring in the ring...Most likely he has to worry about that AND a guy with a broken down ravaged body trying to stay off of addicting substances AND mental stability. A Hall of Fame appearance is likely and maybe a legends deal but that's it. I would love for it to be a perfect world where we get one more Kurt run but the more I have thought about it the WWE would be crazy and deserving of the disaster they might get if they put him back in their ring.
ReplyDeleteOh it's true.
ReplyDeleteKen Shamrock was training as a pro wrestler for years before he came to WWF after UFC. Wiki says he started in 88.
ReplyDeleteEddie Guerrero might be a more accurate description than Benoit.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid he's gonna kill himself with that move.
ReplyDeleteMan Mountain Titties
ReplyDeleteOK, thanks for settling that for me!
ReplyDeleteBring Kidman back full time to continue to fuck it up.
ReplyDeleteEAT STEEN EAT
ReplyDeleteCan is first match be with Cena?
ReplyDeleteWhere's iMPACT airing from tonight? I doubt I can watch but I'll tape it.
ReplyDeleteI'm also pitching ideas to the WWE about a storyline where I am graphically and on screen sexually active with the Divas. I have not heard back yet. Crossing fingers though.
ReplyDeleteIt's DAMN true.
ReplyDeleteVince Russo tweeted out the idea of Heyman turning on Lesnar and joining Cena at Summerslam for the double turn. I can't wrap my mind around that one.
ReplyDeleteGo away Russo!
ReplyDeleteThey've got NYC shows taped into September, don't they?
ReplyDeleteRusso was about to tweet a follow up explaining it but a car drove by and when he turned back to the screen he said "what was I doing?"
ReplyDeleteSmh
ReplyDeleteThe Survivor Series 2002 finish rehashed?
ReplyDeleteThe survivor series 88 tag team rehashed.
ReplyDeleteLOL. That's definitely going to happen with Brock as a part timer.
ReplyDeleteMr. Fuji was really Paul Heyman in disguise? Mind. Blown!
ReplyDeleteI'll stick with SurSer2002.
Survivor Series 98 rehashed
ReplyDeleteTrue but an Eddie type ending for an Olympic gold medalist in the wee post Benoit brings it up to an almost (obviously not quite since there isn't a murdered family) level of media attention and scrutiny
ReplyDeleteAnd he wonders why Spike got pissed.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a much bigger OH SHIT moment but I think much less necessary than 2002.
ReplyDelete411mania's comments section is just the absolute worst when it comes to that and I can't figure it out. The only reason I can think of is that they've seen a few shoots where wrestlers talk down the dirtsheets and they want to fit in or something.
ReplyDeletePersonally I like reading the stuff because even if it's not true (and I do take it all with a pinch of salt) it's certainly more entertaining than anything you see on TV.
publicly tweeting that shit about ADR last week
ReplyDeleteWhat tweet?
The thought of a 2014 BROCK LESNAR face turn makes me cringe.
ReplyDeleteoh come on...bring back happy go lucky brock.
ReplyDeleteThey sent out two tweets after ADR was let go saying that he acted unprofessionally and if anyone is to blame in the situation, it's ADR.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the WWE won't take Kurt Angle back but would they take back Jeff Hardy?
ReplyDeleteI dunno. He is less broke down physically isn't he? I could see that kind of guy brought back with almost weekly drug testing but at the same time would not be at all surprised if they just took a not worth it stance.
ReplyDeleteOr Chris Mortensen?
ReplyDeleteWhat color is the sky on Planet Russo?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.pyroandballyhoo.com/summerslam-heyman-turns-lesner-cena-goes-heel/
ReplyDeleteIt's ideas like this that made TNA a ratings success under Russo!
ReplyDeleteOh wait...
Great point. TNA Angle seems to have lost it. All those arrests, in particular the one where he was stalking the lady used to work for TNA (She was a member of the Kongtourage I don't recall the name) and they popped him and he needles loaded with HGH just shaking my head wondering how Angle could from who he once was in the WWE to getting arrested all the time working for freaking TNA. So talented.
ReplyDeleteYeah, seems like a "six of one, half a dozen of the other" scenario to me. Neither of them seem worth the risks in a risk-adverse WWE environment.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Angle as a talker, I don't know if WWE even has a place for him as a mouthpiece on TV when they can't even find something for Flair to do.
ReplyDeleteAngle should be working in the training center, but I'm not sure he's interested in that.
His "intense rivalry" with Angle had some great matches but was incredibly forced on Brock's part.
ReplyDeleteOnly if he gets a sombrero and mariachi band.
ReplyDeleteIs Mort bad? I don't really follow football as much as Basketball, Baseball, or WWE
ReplyDeleteYeah, he's quite bad.
ReplyDeleteexactly. As i was writing the stuff people up I was thinking about the Stalking issue and it almost makes him a Eddie/Benoit cocktail of physical and mental issues just waiting to explode. I hope he has his life in order now and stays that way but as the head of a multi million dollar publicly traded cooperation that was shaken to it's very foundation less than a decade ago but that kind of a situation....I wouldn't think twice about it.
ReplyDeleteHis drive to succeed no matter what has been what led him to so much success... But it's sadly let to him not knowing how to listen to his body when it comes to slowing down.
ReplyDeleteThe only way I see Angle coming back is if he finally goes through with the drug rehab that caused him to leave WWE in the first place. Which means he ain't going back.
ReplyDeleteOr have Heyman turn on Lesnar to unite with Cena only to have Lesnar beat up Heyman right after and align with Cena forming the NEW Mega Powers!
ReplyDeletewe could get vignettes of Happy Brock on the farm with the wife and kids... Eat, Sleep, Enjoy your day yall!
ReplyDeleteHe's been clean for months supposedly and goes to AA meetings 2x a week.
ReplyDeleteIdea for a Steen shirt:
ReplyDeleteEAT
SLEEP
EAT
REPEAT
Fat. He's fat.
ReplyDeleteYou know it.
Will he learn how to do a DDT, Spinebuster, and a Tire Iron shot?
ReplyDeleteEAT
ReplyDeleteSLEEP
MIDNIGHT SNACK
SLEEP
BREAKFAST
ReplyDeleteSECOND BREAKFAST
ELVENSES
LUNCHEON
AFTERNOON TEA
DINNER
SUPPER
SLEEP
REPEAT
Random Network stream is Bash at the Beach 99. This junkyard match is crazy, didn't a bunch of guys end up legit injured after this?
ReplyDeleteI gave up you an upvote just for having the guts to make that joke.
ReplyDeleteand NEW tna world champion...
ReplyDeleteThe Latest on TNA’s Interest in Alberto Del Rio
Posted by Larry Csonka on 08.14.2014
How interested is TNA?
- At
this time, TNA is very interested in former WWE star Alberto Del Rio.
Word is that if the company could sign Del Rio, that they would put the
TNA World Title on him as soon as he debuted.
Del Rio has a 90-day no-compete clause with WWE, so at this time he
cannot sign with TNA. He will appear at Sunday's TripleMania event, and
while he may work with AAA, that doesn't rule him out of working with
TNA.

TNA...never change......
ReplyDeleteto the haters: wwe is serious aboot steen.
ReplyDeleteDEAL WITH IT! /batista
Kurt really is a machine, in that, your car doesn't know when it's out of oil either, it just keeps running until it doesn't anymore.
ReplyDeleteFit almost lost his leg.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who's actually a fan of Del Rio that would make me soooooooo sad. Hopefully he stays far away from that dumpster fire. No reason to caught on a sinking ship
ReplyDeleteSomething to the effect of "don't be mad at us for firing ADR, blame him instead". Such unprofessional moves for a billion dollar (or whatever) company - no wonder people don't take them seriously
ReplyDeletei don't want tna to go out of business, but if they did with him as champ, it just proves how much of a heat sink and waste he is
ReplyDeleteIt will be seriously what, the 12th time that they will make the EXACT SAME MISTAKE?? Like seriously. I can do nothing but laugh.
ReplyDeleteand you can see him tank the company in 75 inches!!!
ReplyDeleteCome on....they are going to get their Deal with Spike..then they will headline with Lashely vs. Del Rio and start printing the money
ReplyDeleteHe can have an original gimmick where he says it's his DESTINATION to win the TNA title, and call all of his opponents Felinos.
ReplyDeleteand when dean ambrose feuds with him, it will be b/c ambrose is the self-proclaimed titty master
ReplyDeleteexcept that the money is just leftover d'angelo dinero dollars
ReplyDeleteI think Del Rio can make a LOT more money in Mexico than he'd ever make in TNA.
ReplyDeleteBut just imagine what type of cars TNA would rent for him if he did the car entrance!
Del Rio and TNA deserve each other.
ReplyDeletegremlins!
ReplyDeletepintos!
When's that last time a recently fired WWE guy won the TNA World Title?
ReplyDeleteAnswer: Christian back in 2006.
Nice try though.
Oh shit...typo I meant printing for sale signs....
ReplyDeleteOnly cause of MVP's injury. (so they went with ANOTHER castoff instead)
ReplyDeleteto be more specific, "CLEARANCE, EVERY WRESTLER MUST GO!" signs
ReplyDeleteWhat's River Albertson doing in the Impact Zone?!?
ReplyDeleteSo if he doesn't make the business completely turn around, it's his fault? Seems unfair to me.
ReplyDeleteMVP hasn't been in WWE for nearly five years.
ReplyDeleteIs Kurt really in that bad of shape? I've hardly ever watched any TNA.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be great if Mike Tenay described what pieces of shit they were:
ReplyDelete"Tazz, Alberto's car today is a '94 Ford Tauras. With over 100,000 miles on it, Alberto was able to find this at a scrap yard for $45.00!"
i'd say it's as much of a mental thing as it is physical
ReplyDeletedude's loco, esse
So that makes it even worse. A WWE castoff who has not been in the spotlight at all for 5 years, since leaving WWE.
ReplyDeleteIt's not so much that, but it's constantly taking old WWE talents and elevating them to top positions in the company. Bring in ADR, but job him to Samoa Joe and such.
ReplyDeleteActually this is brilliant and I would take Russo (working with McMahon) any day over the crack pot "creative" team they have today.
ReplyDeletePhysically he's very broken down, but lots of people have wrestled another 3 or 4 years on his injuries, it's really just that the guy has serious addiction and depression issues. Like Peyton_Drinking said brilliantly, when Vince looks at Kurt he sees Chris.
ReplyDeletegreen, b/c of all the bank he brings wherever he goes
ReplyDeleteNot going to spend big money on WWE main eventers only to shove them in the low/midcard.
ReplyDeleteWhy is he a "castoff"? He wanted to leave. He left to go fulfill a dream of wrestling for New Japan.
ReplyDeleteSadly, he then spends that bank on bad stunt directors, cages you can't see the action through, and horrible actors for bad storylines.
ReplyDeleteTJ: FWIW, it looks like Worst_in_the_World is having a meltdown with that guy who thinks Hogan should be champ in yesterday's Daily Thread: http://www.rspwfaq.net/2014/08/bod-daily-update_13.html#comment-1542548736
ReplyDeletebut vince regularly sends him flowers!
ReplyDeleteListen man, I'm just not gonna leave money on the table.
ReplyDeleteThere's been some TNA arguments again in this thread that seem to occur more than Montreal.
ReplyDeleteCan we just come to the general consensus that TNA is bad much more than it's good and that they don't compare to the WWE?
So you put ADR in the title hunt immediately? That makes TNA look second rate and their homegrown talent inferior. That's one of the reasons they are in the shape they are in.
ReplyDeleteThey would be way better off if DIXIE was part of this consensus.
ReplyDeleteThey let him leave, they didn't *care* about him.
ReplyDeleteLook what they're doing to Rey because they *know* people can make money off him.
Umm... You use an accomplished name, make him PUT OVER YOUR OWN STARS.... If TNA had understood this for the past 7-8 years, they might actually have made a dent in the wrestling landscape.
ReplyDeleteWell, you'd have to get WCW1987 to agree with that so... no.
ReplyDeleteI read his article, it was really great stuff. I'm shocked people are shitting on it here. At least stuff would be happening and I would be looking forward to watching Raw all day at work. I'm not sure Paul Heyman arriving to TNA in a DeLorean could've done much with the company. The Russo hate is played out, the current team is by far the worst wrestling writers / bookers ever.
ReplyDeleteAnd if WCW had understood this, maybe they don't nosedive and get run out of business.
ReplyDeleteA meltdown in the Blog of Doom? NEVER!
ReplyDeleteNah, they're bad, but Russo remains the undisputed champion of shit bookers.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree to that at all.
ReplyDeleteHe's a former WWE champ. If TNA manages to renegotiate a deal with Spike, the network would probably be willing to throw some cash his way on his credentials alone.
ReplyDeleteDel Rio ALREADY got a job with AAA again and to be honest, I'm not sure he ever really liked wrestling in the US.
ReplyDeleteI mean, yes, TNA would probably award him the world title with no match needed if he signed, but he won't.
I wouldn't mind Hogan vs. Cena at WM XXXI.
ReplyDeleteDel Rio Zzzzzz... I would never watch any TNA episode he is on.
ReplyDeleteThat people are falling for that "Hogan as Champ" bit is tremendous.
ReplyDeleteI'm certain that Cena's faced Khali in a regular match before. Just go watch that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not sure what I did to deserve that. It's not like I am confused about the difference between a botch and a shoot.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is going to feel really bad when it finally comes out that Russo has actually been a high functioning autistic, aspergers or some form of mental challenge.
ReplyDeleteI called it! http://www.rspwfaq.net/2014/08/bod-daily-update_14.html#comment-1542666768
ReplyDeleteRusso and McMahon can make magic together. Russo by himself not so much.
ReplyDeleteDid you really just link to a comment down thread?
ReplyDeleteCan't be worse than whatever else they have planned.
ReplyDeleteYes. Considering how many replies WCW1987's comments about TNA usually get, I figured I'd be on the 3rd page in less than an hour.
ReplyDeleteZack Ryder would have the TNA World Title on him as soon as he debuted.
ReplyDeleteWasn't he having 4 star TV matches with AJ Styles very recently?
ReplyDeleteIt can when Hogan literally snaps in half because he thought - wrongly - that he could take an AA.
ReplyDeleteTNA might actually let Ryder run with the Internet Championship idea he had.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Spike -- if they renew TNA -- wants to spend more money on TNA than they have to just to go up .2 in the ratings (and Del Rio isn't a proven ratings draw anyway).
ReplyDeleteBut in Mexico, Del Rio is the son and nephew of legends and was a big star in his own right. He'll do well down there.
There seems to be some around here who have it in their head wrestling doesn't hurt and these guys never age.
ReplyDeleteCena vs. Hogan
ReplyDeleteLesnar vs. Reigns - WWE Title
That would be a decent top two bouts.
Angle's not the greatest talker and I can't see his mic work being BETTER when it's for someone else.
ReplyDeletehow is a guy who can't pass a physical to do any ring activity at the age of 61 against Cena a decent bout?
ReplyDeleteNo idea I haven't watched TNA since the Joseph Park angle, Chris was having 4-star matches every night too.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the wrestling Vince cares about, especially in this age where he's trained the fans to not expect anything like what Kurt can bring to the table. It's purely the mental side, Vince is fucking terrified of another guy on his payroll completely freaking out.
Of course he would. He would be TNA's biggest star based on social media figures alone. He's more popular on social media than TNA is as a whole.
ReplyDeleteI still don't think they care about upping the ratings. I'd imagine they're fine with the 1.X they're getting now. Bringing in a name talent could create interest, though. If they helped out on contracts before, I see no reason to stop if they renegotiate a deal.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, though, ADR would be better off in Mexico long run.
Hogan vs. Cena would be a huge draw. People still love Hogan. if he can get in there and have a match like his one with Rock at WM 18 or HBK at SS 05, it would be decent. More of a spectacle than a match. Hogan can draw in some of the older fans to get WWE subscriptions for $9.99.
ReplyDeleteThrow Bryan vs. HHH II in there and they'll pop a giant buyrate and new WWE subs.
And in Mexico no one will ask him to clean their plate in catering!
ReplyDelete
