BoD Daily Update

Daniel Bryan Update

Bryan, who has been doing rehab on a daily basis, still has almost no strength in his right arm. He was set to undergo elbow surgery on 8/19 as they believed there was a nerve issue that was not allowing him to regain strength but that was postponed and they want to see if they can fix the issue without surgery. Bryan has been told that after surgery, he would probably be able to return in three months.

  1. And, IWC meltdown about Dean Ambrose getting buried in 3.... 2.... 1....

    annnnd go

    ReplyDelete
  3. And you complain about people complaining about stuff that hasn't happened yet.

    ReplyDelete
  4. It's what he does

    ReplyDelete
  5. THAT DAMN ROMAN REIGNS! IT'S ALL HIS FAULT FOR BEING BIG AND SO DREAMY!! I HATE WWE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. YOU WILL ENTER MY HALL OF COMPLAIN!! THAT'S WHAT I DO!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. If only Ambrose had the face of Bradley Cooper. Then he would get the strap!

    ReplyDelete
  8. If they think Ambrose isn't ready for main-events yet...that's fine. But if they think Ambrose isn't ready for main-events and Roman Reigns is....they're fucking insane.

    ReplyDelete
  9. That Ambrose thing could be completely made up, such a dumb piece of 'news'

    ReplyDelete
  10. I wrote a 4,000 page thesis on how Lesnar/Ambrose was gonna main event Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Dean Ambrose, at this time, is not main event material. You know this.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm not arguing that, just saying it's weird how that info would even leak. Makes me cringe to think some internet nerd just made it up and it's 'news'.

    ReplyDelete
  13. "The Taking of Dean Ambrose"

    ReplyDelete
  14. That would actually be "The Taking of Roman Reigns", so Ambrose could be placed in the main event, right?

    ReplyDelete
  15. If Miz looked like Paul Giamatti, smarks would be his #1 fan

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ambrose is objectively a good looking dude

    *Title

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'd be cool with Ambrose getting one PPV shot against Lesnar in the fall in a brief feud. As long as they follow up properly, it would give him some main event credibility as he works his way up while giving Lesnar a temporary feud the fans would be into.

    ReplyDelete
  19. *championship

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yep, basically "gossip disguised as news". Just like last year with Daniel.

    ReplyDelete
  21. #1. That describes 98% of internet wrasslin' news.

#2. It could very well be a topic being discussed informally around the company's brass because it's being discussed across the internet. I know HHH and Vince are all "LOL INTERNET," but they still pay attention to it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'd say there's precedent, considering that there were about 5 or 6 legit updates with actual news about Bryan early in the year and about 70,000 meltdowns about him being buried.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The crowd forced the company's hand with that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Lesnar is not subjecting himself to small, little feuds with the likes of Ambrose. He's only gonna be around a short period of time and it's the likes of Cena, Rock etc he'll be feuding with, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Then there is also precedent for WWE Creative making stupid decisions that annoy people on the BoD.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Why am I not surprised that the company that had to be dragged kicking and screaming on making Bryan a top guy doesn't view Ambrose as one?

    ReplyDelete
  27. The Assasination of Dean Ambrose By The Coward Seth Rollins.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Someone like Meltzer asks a source about their plans for Ambrose And how they currently view him and they answer. Not tough to find this out

    ReplyDelete
  29. "WWE Filmed Multiple Segments With Brock Lesnar"

Took them two whole years to figure out how to maximize his appearances..

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah that seems like it was designed to cause outrage

    ReplyDelete
  31. How much did HHH pay the surgeon to botch Bryan's surgery, brother?!?!?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  32. WHO PAID FOR THE PLASTIC SURGERY BROTHER?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Look at the hundred dollar bills falling out of James Andrews' pockets, brother!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Random thought I had: Bray Wyatt needs to blade at least once in his career. That face was made for a crimson mask. Crab walking with blood dripping on the mat would be the coolest image since Austin at 13.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Comparing Dean Ambrose, at this stage in his career, to Daniel Bryan is ludicrous.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Are people still complaining about this? So they gave him a "test drive" in his first year to make sure he was fully committed, and wasn't gonna split. Now he's earned their trust, and he's a beast. He is a monster now, 2012 simply doesn't matter. Those losses to Cena and HHH mean NOTHING right now.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Good thing I didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It wasn't "The taking of Chris Benoit". It was "The taking of HHH". So my point stands.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I know it's like a game of telephone and we're getting bits and pieces of bits and pieces of info but Bryan's story seems off. Seems odd a nerve issue in his elbow would prevent the upper arm from regaining strength. Unless he's in pain and can't lift because of it. I think we'd all agree to forget the post-Mania Kane shit and Bryan should call it a day after 30

    ReplyDelete
  40. Neither Ambrose NOR Reigns - right now - is "ready" for a main event spot. The problem is the WWE has already baked that cake for Reigns no matter what. Let's see where they both are in a few months.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wha? Then what are you saying? You bring up Bryan to comment on Ambrose. There's a connection you're trying to make.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The loss to Cena never actually meant anything except to those who can't get past wins and losses in a pretend sport. The point then was never that he was there to get a pinfall. He was there to hurt Cena. And he did. It was smart booking because everyone in the match fulfilled their objectives and got more over because of it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. He was just pointing out the obvious how they could have done this right off of the bat with Lesnar and that would have probably would have gave the company a big boost coming off of WM 28.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Dean Ambrose is not a main event talent purple monkey dishwasher.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah, and I said that the story of the SS match was that he wanted the championship instead of wanting to just kick his ass at Extreme Rules

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yep, Cena was booked to win as a total fluke because Brock got cocky. This time, Brock stayed focused, and we got the right result. Simple storytelling. Yet some people just can't get over it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Eh, Meltzer doesn't negate that. TJ is elbow surgery. But now he's trying to avoid it

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thread Jack surgery?

    ReplyDelete
  49. What I'm saying is that this company is retarded when it comes to pushing people not named John Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yeah, as a sports fan, the words "Tommy John" make it seem much worse, because the stigma associated with normal recovery times for athletes.

    ReplyDelete
  51. maybe Bryan needs Tommy John. (and then my baseball and wrestling worlds collide.)

    ReplyDelete
  52. He did give the company a big boost coming off WM28. The ER buyrate was a huge success and justified most of his big contract in his first match.

At the time he was only going to be around for a year and given their past with him, were probably rightly wary of him fulfilling all of the dates he was signed for. So any long-term narrative wouldn't have really made any sense.

    ReplyDelete
  53. You didn't make a point, you asked a question.

    ReplyDelete
  54. But after the first match, it didn't boost the company. They never built off of that.

    ReplyDelete
  55. But Ambrose isn't ready for that push. Do you want the company to go out of business.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sounds that way. See below. :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Why do you think they are not ready? They've been top guys for years now, and both are the top two baby faces on the roster not named Daniel Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  58. No one's ready til they get it. Doesn't mean it'll work and you get Austin 2.0 (or whoever) but to say they'd go out of business for trying seems overboard. Crowd would have went insane if Ambrose made the end show save on whatever Raw that was he was jumped in the back

    ReplyDelete
  59. Although it has been good for Tommy John seeing as that is the only reason anyone remembers him.

    ReplyDelete
  60. than how the hell do they think Reigns is ready for that spot when he doesnt get an 1/8th the pops of ambrose, and is 1/800th the wrestler of ambrose. SMFH at the E's logic. As for DB this isnt great news at all, he is going to have to completely alter his move set (no more diving head butts, or throwing his body around recklessly).

    ReplyDelete
  61. Rhetorical, baby! Aka, "I am right, but I will be polite about it". Taking of Roman Reigns, dude!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Look, everybody knows you can get lost in his smoldering eyes. The problem is that he's just not engaging the crowds like a main eventer ought to do.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Right. The guy who gets the loudest pops every Monday Night is going to bankrupt the company if they push him to the top.

    ReplyDelete
  64. The Love-Matic Grampa!August 21, 2014 at 8:20 AM

"Yet some people just can't get over it."

    *Raises hand*

Although it was mainly that promo afterwards.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm still trying to decide if the Daniel Bryan injury was horrible timing or great timing.

    ReplyDelete
  66. CM Punk has got to be the biggest wrestling star, post Wrestlemania I, that never closed out the show right? Am I missing someone else?

    ReplyDelete
  67. They need to let him be himself. Reigns is naturally charismatic but the crappy lines they feed him are not going to connect him with the crowd.

Seriously, the WWE writers are crafting some truly pathetic dialogue lately

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm more into Ambrose than Reigns (I dig Reigns well enough, but I'm not so sure about him as The One), as I'm betting many others are. At the very least they are not burying Ambrose, so there is hope.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Dean Ambrose has been probably 50% of the main events on TV since he got to the wwe and has main evented several ppvs. How is he not a main eventer?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Because they never intended to. Because they didn't expect him to be around past a year. All they wanted him to do was pop a few buyrates to get their sagging PPV numbers at least back to where they'd been, and he did.

If they'd known he'd be around for several years like he has now, their intentions for him would have likely been much different.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Zack Ryder.

Normally Miz is my go to joke for this sort of thing... but he actually did close out a Wrestlemania

    ReplyDelete
  72. This. Plus, the promo might have worked if he actually went away for a bit or changed the least bit.

    ReplyDelete
  73. The Ambrose thing is probably just a case of Vince trying to fuck him out of money. "Oh yeah, you're not ready to be a top guy yet...oh and your booked in the main event of raw and smackdown for the next six months."

    ReplyDelete
  74. Don't call me baby. I enjoying being in the corner.

    ReplyDelete
  75. You shut your mouth. You never know who's reading this.

    ReplyDelete
  76. THAT IS NOT FAIR TO FLAIR.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Well, I think they are both close. That's why I say a few months. I lean more towards Ambrose having the full package. Although, maybe with a pre-WM "main event" push in some of the lesser ppv's etc., Reigns could well prove himself of being THE top guy that the company appears dead set on. So I'm open minded. And l will admit, like you say, there really aren't any other options right now.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Yeah, while Cena going over made sense, his promo afterward completely fucked up the context. Him actually being out awhile would have made it make even more sense.
Did we ever find out what the fuck the deal was with that promo? Did he think he was actually really hurt? Was he just going into business for himself?

    ReplyDelete
  79. I see it as Reigns = 2004 Orton, and Ambrose being 2004 Batista. One is the heir apparent, but the other is also very over, and might sneak into the WM main event instead. I'm fine with either scenario.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Ambrose is a fine wrestler, not worthy of a main event push. He'd be lucky, at this point in his career, to be battling over the Big Belt were it still around.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I swear people have forgotten how big The Shield were.

    ReplyDelete
  82. one last thing about ambrose. he needs to ditch that corny ass nickname "the lunatic fringe" and get better entrance music. Reigns needs to stop coming through the crowd as well.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Eh, Flair only arguably had the one shot vs Savage that could have. Punk might have worked any time over last 2-3 years...but I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  84. "Yeah, and in the meantime: why don't you go ahead and star in this shitty movie and stay off camera for a bit."

    ReplyDelete
  85. Because Vince thinks Roman Reigns is the breakout star of the group, and per WWE rules only one member of a team is allowed to become a big star when they break up.

    ReplyDelete
  86. People don't buy PPV's to specially watch Dean Ambrose.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Roman Reigns is the breakout star. He's handsome. Ambrose is hideous. Handsome sells tickets/PPVs.

    ReplyDelete
  88. The music is fine because it elicits a pop and an immediate recognition of who's coming out, and that's all that really matters with music. It's cool when the music is actually, y'know, good. But it doesn't really matter. Austin and Rock both made pretty good careers out of generic guitar riffs, after all.

    ReplyDelete
  89. The Love-Matic Grampa!August 21, 2014 at 8:27 AM

I think the story was that he was actually going to take time off, then someone changed their minds.

    ReplyDelete
  90. You wouldn't want to see Jacob Goodnight as WWE champion?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Also, if you compile a list of people who have been in at least TWO* closing matches of Wrestlemania, you get a really solid list of wrestling's all time greatest stars.

    *Eliminates Miz, Lawrence Taylor.

    ReplyDelete
  92. The conspiracy theorist in me believes that this "leaked" information about Ambrose is bullshit, and just fueling the flames of the smart marks.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Sting. Biggest star to never actually APPEAR at WrestleMania.

Hopefully that will change with a token match at Mania 31.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I think that's what it is. I saw it as "He beat Big Johnny's guy, so now Laurinitis will probably fire him". Really, I didn't give the promo a 2nd thought after seeing it live. Can't believe the incredible backlash it's gotten.

Rocky made a speech after being beaten half to death by Drago in Rocky 4. Did that "no sell the beating" also?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Star ratings are literally the only things that matter!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Call me crazy, but I like that nickname, and why do I keep seeing people say Reigns needs to stop coming out through the crowd? How is that hurting him?

    ReplyDelete
  97. The Love-Matic Grampa!August 21, 2014 at 8:30 AM

You and I will never agree on this, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  98. That's the funny part - dude is ELECTRIC. I'd turn him into Charles Bronson - few words, plenty of action. He'd get over.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Ok, you got me. Nice troll job.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Flair is the biggest. Punk not too far behind. Luger might be another.

    ReplyDelete
  101. That opening hook is the best they've had since Austin's glass break.

    ReplyDelete
  102. The reasonable person in me believes most of these "reports" are total fucking nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  103. TJ surgery now is almost an improvement for pitchers, and since he isn't throwing knuckleballs the recovery time might be shorter.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Exactly. Plus there's no way to EVER prove Meltzer wrong on something like that. Ambrose doesn't shake the right hand and never goes above mid-card? See? I was right. Ambrose comes back early Monday, challenges Brock, wins at NoC. See? they weren't convinced 8/21 but changed their minds.

    ReplyDelete
  105. You make it sound like Ambrose is jobbing to Zach Ryder. They are pushing ALL THREE Shield members very hard.

    ReplyDelete
  106. If it is going to be a "token" match it should b against RVD... because no one is better at smoking pot than him... smoking pot is called "tokin'"... I'm just going to go back to work now.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'm okay with Dean Ambrose not getting the rocket push yet as I enjoy the tense and teasing build as well as an agonizing rise until a climactic explosion that bursts forth into creamy main event goodness!

    Whew...almost sexual, isn't it, Smithers?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Agreed. All that matters with music: get an immediate pop, set the tone for the character it's for. That quasi-engine revving opening guitar hook is terrific.

    ReplyDelete
  109. The best faction/group in WWE history.

    ReplyDelete
  110. The source for these types of things is always someone who doesn't make those decisions anyway. It's still bullshit even if it isn't.

    ReplyDelete
  111. No one buys ppvs anymore at all. But if they did they absolutely would buy a show to see ambrose.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Lunatic fringe! Dirty deeds! Has Vince discovered 70s cock rock? Good nicknames roll off the tongue. Dean's do not.
His theme could be good; that rev up is a good start, kinda like Scott Norton's underrated WCW theme.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Eh, I think along the lines of "it doesn't hurt nor help him" but if he stops now, when they reunite the Shield it'd seem bigger

    ReplyDelete
  114. So a troll is someone who disagrees with you? Typical.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I watched The Shield doc. on the network last night. It was quite good. Rollins is far more of a douche than I thought he was. Ambrose looks like he the 1990's in human form... and I enjoy how all of these docs always seem to have someone that wrestled Bryan in ROH... its like he is their official indy expert.

    ReplyDelete
  116. How many faces in the wwe are bigger than Dean Ambrose right now? Cena and...reigns? And reigns is only bigger in the eyes of Vince, that won't last more than 6-8 months. Ambrose if a fucking giant star and if he retired today he's had a insanely successful wwe career. There is no way he's not a top 5 star for the next 4 to 6 years.
