Backstage News on Roman Reigns Push

Right now within the company, the plan is for Reigns to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania and for him not to challenge for the belt before hand as they feel a loss would be counterproductive and prefer that he slowly rises to the top.

  6. "Sources" are these the same "sources" who always report TNA is dying? Are they the same "sources" who claim Panda is bleeding money on TNA even though they have been making a profit and are huge overseas? This is typical pandering to TNA haters. Well get it through your heads, TNA isn't going anywhere. at worst to a new network. Honestly, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Change of environment could do wonders. Really let it all hang out and have very focused story lines. Whole lot of young talent available that can entertain.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Oh my god, fucking dying right now!!

  8. People have been saying this since you were 5 years old. Literally.

  10. I don't even think they should have put Reigns in the four-way at Battleground. I'm a fan of keeping guys out of the title mix if they're trying to give them the slow-burn main event push.

    ReplyDelete
  11. But I'm telling now, my word is the thruth.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Take your time WWE, give him the IC/US title and let him run for a year with the belt.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think if he stays over, the plan will go as expected. If backlash starts up, or he fizzles out, someone else will take his place. WWE has proven they can change WM plans if need be (WM 21, WM 30)

    ReplyDelete
  14. TNA is going to be done if they cannot find a deal. Spike moved them to another night and the ratings tanked. It is not of out the realm of possibility to think they might be finished because they will not survive without a TV deal.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Maybe ESPN 8, "The Ocho" will pick up TNA.

What was the original WM21 plan?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wednesday's rating sucked because only fans who read the dirt sheets and wrestling news sites knew about the change. I'm willing to bet that a lot of people tuned in on Thursday and wondered what was going on. I don't watch Spike TV except for impact wrestling, but I never heard about or saw any advertising about the move to Wednesdays.

    ReplyDelete
  22. So what's the PPV progression for Reigns going to be?
NOC: Reigns & Ambrose vs. Rollins & Orton
    HIAC: Reigns vs. ???
SS: Reigns in a traditional Survivor Series match where he takes out 3-4 guys himself.
    TLC: Reigns vs. ???
    RR: Reigns wins the Rumble
EC: Reigns vs. Batista or HHH
    WM31: Reigns vs. The Champ

    ReplyDelete
  23. I know it's a joke but sadly there are like 7 espn's already (original, 2, 3, u, deportes, news, classic), cbs sports, nbc sports, and fox sports channels.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Aka, TNA's fanbase. I think it's 99% people like WCW1987 who will stubbornly stay loyal to them no matter what. Anyone who watches on Thursdays 100% knew they were moving to Wednesdays.

    ReplyDelete
  25. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 23, 2014 at 12:50 PM

A move that happened less than a week before the switch and wasn't heavily promoted (because TNA is taped weeks in advance) on the last show before the date change didn't produce a great number? Shocking. Down about 300k (1.13 the week prior to 852k) isn't terrible, even if the overall viewership is; if the number doesn't bounce over the next month, fine.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 23, 2014 at 12:50 PM

Just want to throw out a big "fuck off" to Time Warner. I did my part by sending you a check a fucking week ago, do yours by cashing it and turning my shit back on. Fucking assholes.

    ReplyDelete
  27. 99% sure it was groomed as Orton/HHH in the final blowoff match. But they moved it to the Rumble where HHH won clean, and Batista took the spot. (Not factual, but it sure looked that way)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sure the Thursday watchers knew they were moving to Wednesday, but I know as late as that following Tuesday I looked on my channel guide and Spike didn't have Impact listed for Wed. or Thurs. So a lot of fans might have done the same, figured TNA wasn't coming on that week, and didn't watch. And don't discount the amount of people who knew about the switch and simply forgot because they're used to the Thurs. routine.

  33. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 23, 2014 at 12:56 PM

WWE seems to envision him in the mold of Sheamus and Batista (or Kane/Taker) whose first singles title reign will be for the world title. Although the US/IC title has worked well as a stepping stone for much of its history (Rock, HHH, Angle, etc.), I don't think Reigns is destined for that kind of (slow) development.

  43. Women should be like Renee, down to earth.

    ReplyDelete
  44. He's their Goldberg. It can be done.

    ReplyDelete
  45. It works for some people and fails miserably on others.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yknow, Reigns appears to be a class act, and hes really not halfassing anything. Hes reasonably young, hungry, looks like a million bucks, and can still learn. Why are we hoping for his failure?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Because people desperately wanna relive the moment of last year. Simple as that.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Like I said take your time WWE, you can wait one more year. Let him run through the midcard. Don't forget SCSA was in the midcard for awhile before WM xiv.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ambrose is not getting to the top. And if he does, it'll only be because Vince suddenly watched Dark Knight and wanted a guy like the Joker in his company, and his aides would just shoehorn Ambrose in.

    ReplyDelete
  50. If they do the Goldberg booking, one day the crowd is gonna get tired of it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Having one world title doesn't hurt them. In my opinion, it helps them. What hurts them is not having a valuable secondary title. Just merge the US and IC titles and make holding the belt an actual stepping stone to a World Title shot, let main eventers try to win the new secondary title to become a top contender to the World Title, and you've solved the issue.

    ReplyDelete
  52. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 23, 2014 at 1:05 PM

But if Ambrose is at the top, then Bryan couldn't win!

And he already has Joker Sting anytime he wants him.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ambrose is not ready for the WWE now. But he is in a better situation than Reigns, he should walk out with the WWE at WM 30.

    ReplyDelete
  54. You don't want a new star on the scene? I can see maybe tempering Reigns' push slightly so he's still in the main event scene but not winning the belt at WM31 if you think he's not ready, but a full-out fan revolt and burial seems harsh just because he's not Daniel Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  55. But he might want a Joker that can wrestle.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Because people on the internet are largely negative.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm honestly wondering if we'll see Bryan wrestle again. And if we do, will he be 100%?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Typo, refresh the thread.

    ReplyDelete
  59. So that people can beat their chests and scream "I hated him first!"

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ahhh ok, I was like....damn Kid's having a stroke!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Yeah, but in a lot of cases, its justified. Its not like Reigns is coasting on being the Rock's cousin here.

    ReplyDelete
  62. If I were in charge, I would merge US and IC titles because they are basically equal and create an internet championship. Title is fought only on the PPVs and other network shows. It's the equivalent of the TV title or the Euro title. First champion should be Zack Ryder.

    ReplyDelete
  63. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 23, 2014 at 1:08 PM

Is Ambrose going to be back for NoC? Maybe they do a handicap match with Ambrose interfering (though the heels do need a marquee win), allowing HIAC to be the tag match. TLC could be the final blow off with Orton.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 23, 2014 at 1:08 PM

    That's pretty accurate.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I still think you need the US and IC title separate. The WWE title is for the A+ players, the IC title is for guys like Reigns and Ambrose who are being tested for a run at the top, and the US title is for the midcard.

    ReplyDelete
  66. One day the crowd is gonna get tired of everything. Nothing's going to stay over forever, but you do the best with what you have at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Most of the IWC doesn't actually like wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  68. And the funny thing is, people seem to forget that DANIEL BRYAN IS ON THE DISABLED LIST. It's not like WWE is shunting him down in the mid card and doing nothing with him. THIS IS NOT WWE OR ROMAN REIGNS' FAULT THIS TIME. lol

    ReplyDelete
  69. Virgil's Gimmick TableAugust 23, 2014 at 1:10 PM

I wasn't watching at that time so I missed the whole Cena and Batista rise. But with they way they were pushing Orton where I left off I expected it to go that way. I knew they planned on pushing Batista though so I wasn't particularly surprised when I came back and he was champion.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'll admit that I'm just hating on him because I find him bland and am worried that they've 100% decided on him being the top man, despite how wack he is on he mic and in the ring

    ReplyDelete
  71. Only if NoC is in Cleveland this year. *rimshot*

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yes, you're right. I'm trying to tell is that the WWE can't protect Roman forever, down he's gonna have to step up by himself.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Batista's face turn is thing of beauty, one of WWE's best.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I would love a new star on the scene, just not Reigns! I'm sure there won't be a revolt as much as I'd like one, not from the casual crowd anyway

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  77. I still think ambrose has that breakout appeal more than roman but they won't let that happen

    ReplyDelete
  78. Oh yeah, forgot Ambrose is slated to miss time. I just saw on Smackdown they seemed to be hinting toward a tag match, with Reigns mentioning Ambrose and Rollins-Orton acting like buddies.
Ambrose-Rollins has to be settled in a Hell in a Cell match, so maybe its Reigns-Orton at NOC, Reigns-Kane at HIAC (maybe Reigns-Rusev?), Reigns and Ambrose on the same side at Survivor Series, then Reigns-Rollins at TLC.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 23, 2014 at 1:14 PM

The cable is back on but the internet still isn't working. Fuckers.

    ReplyDelete
  80. If we riot like we did in this year's Rumble, they'll change.

    ReplyDelete
  81. They like wrestling, but everything that isn't booked exactly how they'd book it sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 23, 2014 at 1:16 PM

It's not just us either. Any form of pop culture fandom is generally very negative.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Common sense dictated that they'd be keeping Roman waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay the fuck away from Brock anyway, that's hardly an item of interest.

What is interesting is this IWC backlash against a push that hasn't even really happened yet. For a group that screams every two months about needing a new main event face this faceless "they" sure do seem to hate when the 'E try to bring someone up.

The funny thing is that, at least I'd be willing to bet, had Bryan been wrestling full time the last four months no one would even care about his future, much like Benoit, one nice title reign would've shut up everyone and everyone would've moved on to someone else.

    ReplyDelete
  84. That's fair, almost all fan sites eventually turn into swirling vortices of hate. It's rare to find a fan site for anything that isn't just lists of everything going wrong with whatever that product is.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I firmly believe that the best thing that can happen to Dean Ambrose's future prospects is creative continuing not to pay any attention to him.

It worked for Jericho in WCW, Dean is just as talented if not more so, leave him alone and he'll get himself over despite their wishes.

    ReplyDelete
  86. The answer for Roman is to wait another year. Give him a secondary title and let him kill some midcarders. Another year won't hurt him, he's not in a Do or Die situation where they need to give him the World title right away.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Jericho in 98 was the best thing in WCW. Just nuclear heat in his Malenko/Goldberg feuds.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 23, 2014 at 1:21 PM

Comic Book Guy on The Simpsons was basically created to parody the posters on alt.tv.simpsons

    ReplyDelete
  89. In theory, but realistically who else do they have to give the "Brock-Killer" rub to?

They've really written themselves into a corner where they've gotten their monster unstoppable heel champ...BUT....they're still years away from their chosen guy being able to beat him in a fashion that fans won't shit on.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Uh... I still like Roman Reigns. And I hope he wins at Mania. I'm so not hip.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I think he's great and clearly the future but he's going to have to suddenly open up and swallow this business in six months Kurt Angle style if they expect him to survive a mania main event without getting killed by the crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Reigns has never faced Brock, he looks realistically big enough to beat Brock, and the live crowd is into him. He's the No. 1 candidate to be the guy to take down Brock.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Like Jericho said on a recent podcast, "For everything I've done I know I will be remembered as the light up jacket armbar promo guy".

    He's probably right.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Right, I know, but he's a million miles from ready.

The world-wide WM crowd is NOT going to cheer Roman over Brock *as Romans character stands right now*

They have time, it just remains to see if Roman can pick it up as fast as will be necessary.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I don't think the live crowds will be as negative as the Internet crowd. Kids seem to love Reigns, girls love Reigns, and a lot of not-as-hardcore male fans like Reigns. I don't think his big win will be crapped on.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Again, people do that thing where they assume the internet is a hivemind.

ITs easy when you see a bunch of opinions on one subject change over the course of three months, but are they posted by the same people? Are the same people changing their minds? And if they are, is there a rationale? Maybe DBry would've cooled off because WWE doesn't give him a feud better than Kane? DBry should've been maintained with top-level feuds, because otherwise you're just shitting on the belt's prestige.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think that's fine in theory, but if that's what they want, they should do it and commit to it. Right now, I would say the US Title is on the higher level wrestler than the IC Title, though that's assuming Sheamus is still the US Champ which totally could be wrong since I can never actually remember.

    ReplyDelete
  98. When you say "ready," you mean as a performer or kayfabe as a character?

    ReplyDelete
  99. I haven't noticed all this backlash. Is it possible we're assuming things? Or am I on the wrong websites?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Post-WM Raw crowd is very smarkish and may eat him alive.

    ReplyDelete
  101. This. I said it before and I'll say it again.

"Roman Reigns is losing crowd support" is a new smark meme that just gets repeated ad nauseum in the absence of any actual evidence to support it.

    ReplyDelete
  102. If Reigns gets better and they book it right, absolutely.

I do not have confidence, at this point, on either of those things.

I do not dislike Roman, I am quite looking forward to his future and the eventual turn we will all do on him because LOLROMANWINS but right now the 'E is looking at him like it's a guarantee and I don't believe that at all.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Nor is it his because he "safely" does the divining headbutt AMIRITE?

    ReplyDelete
  104. I don't think he's losing crowd support, that's not my point, I'm saying if you throw Roman in there with Brock *as the Roman Reigns character currently stands* he gets eaten alive.

I'm on the Roman train, I just don't think we're anywhere near the station yet is all.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I'm a big proponent of making more things happen on the Network shows, like surprise returns or big time matches. You don't have to worry about doing something big without advertising it first since ratings isn't the thing, driving subscriptions is. If people read about something major happening on the network after it happens, they can pay and watch it immediately on replay.

    ReplyDelete
  106. 6/10. If I wanted an average looking hot girl I would go see one in real life

    ReplyDelete
  107. OK, well, good thing that they're not doing that for another 7 months, then!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Dustin vs. Bunkhouse Buck: the last few matches Dustin had before leaving for WWF he was bleeding all the time. Kinda leans on the rumor that he was trying to get released.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Women are not equals. The sooner you learn that the easier your life will be.

  111. She seems like a real person whereas the majority of the women who do WWE interviews backstage seem like cardboard cutouts holding a microphone.

Compared to every woman in the world, she's an attractive woman with a decent personality. She sits in a nice, but crowded tier.

Compared to other women who have held her position in the WWE? She's a diamond.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Both, much more on the ring work end only because we don't have any real good examples of tremendous matches on his part.

But...we didn't really have any of those for Cena either and he's the best all around worker of the last 10 years so there's always a chance he'll just suddenly get it and crank out **** all the time. Who the fuck knows?

    ReplyDelete
  113. That's my sincere hope, if for no other reason than to watch the fireworks here.

    ReplyDelete
  114. So you'd like to see a shitty booking decision occur just to laugh at fans online?

WWE has been doing that shit for years, and its drawn them no money.

    ReplyDelete
  115. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 23, 2014 at 1:34 PM

Part of me wonders if he'll ever be accepted by the majority of the vocal adult male crowd (I'm assuming that's "the crowd" you're referring to, as I haven't noticed women/kids leaning toward a backlash against reigns). Even if WWE waited a year, wouldn't the group still want to see Bryan or Ziggler or Ambrose or whoever its next choice might be (Sami Zayn?) rather than someone it knows WWE wants?

    ReplyDelete
  116. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 23, 2014 at 1:35 PM

I understand that, I was watching a concert vid earlier and the roadies were doing mic checks, My wife just went to check on the laundry. I'm asking about cheques.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Your point is that Roman Reigns circa August 2014 cannot be expected to challenge Brock Lesnar circa August 2014 and maintain crowd support. I'm not even sure I agree with that, but let's assume that's true.

Neither of these men will be in the same position they're in now come March 2015.

If that's not your point, then use your words better.

    ReplyDelete
  118. If they're looking for something different for Reigns to do until Mania, they could have him be the one to finally knock off Rusev. They've already crossed paths once in that battle royale and the crowd was going insane...make it a full-fledged angle and match, and that could easily carry a PPV bout or two. It'd also be a good way to help stave off any smarky crowd reactions to Reigns, by pitting him against such a clear-cut heel as Rusev.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Right now, the only, ONLY, part of the audience that's "rejecting" Reigns is the hardcore smark crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  120. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 23, 2014 at 1:36 PM

If WWE is OK with Lesnar holding the title for 8 months, it might be OK with him holding it for 20 until Reigns (or whomever is chosen) is ready,

    ReplyDelete
  121. If they want to shoot themselves in the foot then sure, I'll laugh.

I don't really care either way what they do with Brock in the short term, I don't really care for him so if he gets beaten so quickly I'll laugh, if they do the push all the way to Mania I'll look on with interest to see if they're actually going to pull a trigger on someone else.

Like you said, they've been doing this shit for years, I'm not getting emotionally attached to any of this stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Here's an out of the box idea: why not give Reigns the title now? He can do the 10 minute or less almost squash matches at house shows and PPVs to hide his weaknesses; we also don't have the long wait til wrestlemania. It's not like the Sheamus situation where it's very out of the blue. It would be more like the Diesel situation 20 years ago except with better challengers.

    ReplyDelete
  123. What kind of style do people (fans, not WWE) expect Reigns to employ before they fully get behind him? He's a big explosive powerhouse with some athleticism. He's not going to wrestle like CM Punk or Daniel Bryan, and he's not a legit MMA guy or amateur wrestler so he's not going to wrestle like Brock or Kurt Angle. He's not as good as Steve Austin but he's not as limited as Big Show. He's Goldberg. He doesn't have to put on 20-minute technical displays to get over and been seen as a serious threat. I'm just not sure what people want to see from Reigns to be satisfied.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Actually, I think Roman Reigns 'as he currently stands' would be a pretty good WM31 Lesnar opponent.

My worry is that once WWE creative gets hold of him and puts him through 'Cena and Sheamus wise-cracking asshole face' promo school for the next six months, he'll be booed out of the building.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Goldberg would be great except for the problem where he runs through his impressive offense too early and can't sell.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Exactly. How many moves did Nash or Goldberg have? They were over with the audience. If he is the next big thing, put the title on him

    ReplyDelete
  127. You know who gets love and is still super underrated? Ray Traylor/Bossman/Boss... That dude was great for a good portion of his career.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Wrestling's greatly changed since then.

    ReplyDelete
  129. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 23, 2014 at 1:42 PM

Part of it seems to be the fear/concern that Reigns will replace Cena as the face/top guy of the company for the next decade; I'm not sure a Goldberg type could last nearly that long, whereas he might be fine for a two year sprint.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Right, Brock will be exactly as hot as he is now, Roman will hopefully be an actual main event wrestler.

    ReplyDelete
  131. 1. I'd rather have Brock come out and F5 all of their carcasses. That would draw better ratings

    2. That's fine as long as its against Lesnar, who needs to hold the title until then. Bring back the "30 day" rule and have Brock murder stupid faces until Reigns decides to challenge. $$$ baby!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Out of the 3 members of the Shield he's the only one who hasn't come into his own or developed any personality since the break up. He's still a rookie ability wise and we're already talking about him main eventing Wrestlemania - it's crazy. He has the look, potential and 2 over moves but that explosive end of match routine is going to wear thin quickly because he doesn't have the charisma or personality to pull it off (yet)

According to Cornette, Nash (as Diesel) had 6 moves. :)

  134. Aaaand within seconds of this match starting, Base slams Ray, and does a splash over the top row from the runway, and Ray whips Vader into the audience. Holy crap! What was going on in WCW at this point? This ppv is great.

  135. including the hairflip

  136. I'd like to see more matches and promos. His style is fine though he's the kind of guy that could reaaaaaaaally use a Pat Patterson in his life.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I disagree about him not having developed a personality. His promos aren't consistently great like Ambrose's, but he's had more than a few mic moments where he had the crowd eating out of his hand.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Live stream? Or?

I've always been a fan, but I like the hosses.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Randomly chose Spring Stampede 94 to see where WCW was just before Hulk showed up.

    ReplyDelete
  141. He needs to learn some psychology. He's not the best promo. WWE has to figure out Reigns' motivation. (Which they have seven months to do so that's not a problem) But he's been booked well and the crowd is into him so it could make sense, especially considering that nobody else is ready.

That said, he's improved a lot and with the right people working with him, he could easily improve everything even more by Wrestlemania. The WWE likes having faces win Wrestlemania. Cena is more of an attraction at this point and the crowd would just boo him against Lesnar. Bryan will probably not be ready by the Rumble. Punk ain't coming back. (Which is a shame because the crowd would lose their minds if he showed up at the Rumble). Who else is there?

It won't be Sheamus. ADR is gone and it wouldn't be him either. Ambrose isn't really ready either just at the moment. I wouldn't mind he and Rollins having a "HHH vs. the Rock" battle for the IC strap. Again, things may change in seven months for Ambrose or Rollins as well but right now, Reigns is the logical option so why not set a story for him and hope he improves?

    ReplyDelete
  142. The first feud I really bought into was Mountie versus Bossman, I bawled when Rougeau handcuffed him to the rope and shocked the shit out of him for like, in my childhood mind at least, 10 minutes straight, NO ONE WOULD HELP HIM WTF.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Also, Reigns isn't losing support as much as he's not gaining it as fast Ambrose is

    ReplyDelete
  144. Vadersault! Holy Hell.

    ReplyDelete
  145. That idea is solid, Reigns and Ambrose doing the Triple H/Rock thing to get *each other* ready for the main event is fruit right off the money tree.

    ReplyDelete
  146. David, I think using Diesel as an example is a poor choice. I don't think anybody would wish a Diesel reign (lol) on anyone. Unless Ambrose and Rollins get to play the Shawn role.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I became a fan around the time that the Twin Towers were around. That dude was scary, and had me worried for Hulk.

    ReplyDelete
  148. He won't hold it for twenty and Bryan would be back by then in any case which would muddle the waters.

    ReplyDelete
  149. John Cena could win at NOC via DQ, but I don't see them blowing the wad just yet.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I don't personally give a crap about Reigns, but they need to go all out in making him a legit main eventer because the biggest baby face after Cena is out.

    ReplyDelete
  151. So, did WWF1987 quit again?

    ReplyDelete
  152. Don't worry he'll be back. they all will return one day.

    ReplyDelete
  153. That would work.

  155. The crowd at SummerSlam wasnt digging him that much at all and that is not a hardcore smark crowd

    ReplyDelete
  156. Well, it may be soon.

    ReplyDelete
  157. So to see you didn't, it's ok man, everything is going to be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I swear anyone that believes that TNA is going out of business is either 1) Extremely stupid or 2) Just plain trolling.

It is one or the other.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Wait, what the hell happened to Sheamus anyway? Is he injured or something?

    ReplyDelete
  160. Wait, I forget, are you the troll or the one who is sarcastically trolling the troll? Because it gets really hard to tell in these threads.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I still would put Flair in the Top 3 of all time, but since I've gotten the network, those Legends Of Wrestling roundtables have made me despise him as a person. I'm no apologist for Hogan, Hall or Nash, but the guy is so clearly bitter and resentful of them that it's hard to watch. He bashed the NWO concept because it was an idea that originated in Japan. Hey, Ric.....you're whole gimmick was originated by someone else.

    ReplyDelete
  162. The confusing thing is, he has nothing to be bitter about. 16 times world champion(probably more) a legend and highly regarded by most of his peers. He accomplished everything a wrestler would want. So why is he bitter?

    ReplyDelete
  163. Panel: WOOOO!, "I want my win back from Brock, jack", and "Fuck you guys, I'm going hunting."
Reigns: No surprise, and little care right now. But there's months to get him "ready"... AKA "sabotage everyone else who could challenge the role we want him in."
TNA: As I said Wednesday, get a deal for next year, THEN I'll stop using the "DEY GONNA DIE!" line. No luck yet, I see...
RF: Cool. But my money's already gone, via 3DS purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  164. HowmuchdoesthisguyweighAugust 23, 2014 at 2:59 PM

I think if I read the smackdown taping results correctly he says something along the lines of "I won't forget what you did to Ambrose on Monday"... That's the closest he has come to legit motivation in quite awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Money, I'm guessing. I think he also has the victim idea of how badly mistreated he was, while he had done the same thing to other guys in earlier years. Sucks

    ReplyDelete
  166. So no TV deal, losing their top talent, and having POORLY attended house shows = SUCCESS?
I don't see it. TNA either gets demoted to another also-ran indy, or just shuts the doors. And if Dixie's parents decide enough is enough, it's a simple door shutting.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I remember the SNME match, but didn't that one end in a DQ after Savage left Hogan? And what other matches am I missing?

    ReplyDelete
  168. WWF mentioned in an earlier thread that even if Spike lets them go they could get another deal.

Even if that were true, TNA could still have problems if the network was inferior to Spike, or didn't draw higher ratings from a network more viewed than Spike.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I missed the final Thursday episode, so I wouldn't have known if it weren't for reading it here and on wrestling news sites.

  170. TJ: Kevin Love is now a Cleveland Cavalier

    Wolves get:

    Andrew Wiggins
    Anthony Bennett
    Thaddeus Young
    $6.3 million Dollar Trade Exception

    Sixers get:

2015 1st rd pick from Minnesota
    Alexy Shved
    Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

    ReplyDelete
  171. Cleveland has to win. Like, twice. They just mortgaged their future on LeBron even more than the Heat did.

    ReplyDelete
  172. We went over this a few days ago... WHO signs them? Either there's no interest from the network (for whatever reasons), or the timeslot/funding just won't work.
IMO, TNA's absolute best case "IT'S MOTHERFUCKING CHRISTMAS!" scenario is they end up on ROH's level. But if I end up proven wrong, I'll admit it.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I was a Big Bubba fan myself. I remembered him debuting on JCP and thought he was a bad ass then.

    ReplyDelete
  174. because he fucked up his personal life beyond repair....

    ReplyDelete
  175. I would eat three mustard packets if it kept Roman Reigns from winning the title at Wrestlemania. Believe that.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I'm just talking legacy wise. It seems like he wants to tear down other people's wrestling accomplishments to protect his own.

    ReplyDelete
  177. im guessing bc he's jealous that collegaues of his that were "beneath him" have given up the business and doing and dont have promos whee they involve themselves makign fun of how much of a loser they are (i.e. the miz/flair promo last year) because he still needs money.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Cause he's a drunk 65 year old child who never grew up or had anyone hold himself accountable

    ReplyDelete
  179. I can't wait until the Network replays Wrestlemania 31 with piped in crowd noises to make it seem like Reigns/Cena was the second coming of Warrior/Hogan.

    ReplyDelete
  180. The troll sarcastically trolling the troll.

    ReplyDelete
  181. They needed two belts because they were selling two belts to the toy markets. With the rebranding, they must think they can sell more of this belt as a unified belt.

    ReplyDelete
  182. It's not bad, but - as others have said - there's too much negative space. Same with the previous one, of course.

I don't mind the idea of the giant "WWE" logo, I just wish it was more of an embossed plate, with the logo on a nice gold background instead of the plain black background.

    ReplyDelete
  183. It's cleaner than the previous version, but I'm still not a fan, it's just really plain, like a 5th grader drew it whilst doodling and they went with that. I don't see why they can't mix up a classic design (like the winged eagle) with a big logo (but more subtle than it is now)? I mean it's not awful but they could just do sooooo much better and more interesting. From a non fans perspective my flatmate looked at it and laughed at how gaudy and cheap it looked. I think the champion should be carrying something that looks prestigious and important rather than some weird hollow bling. I think they are trying to reinvent the wheel so to speak when it isn't necessary when it comes to belts.

I saw some photos of current stars with the classic designs and it immediately makes them look a million dollars more important than they actually are.. hell even MIZ looked good with the winged eagle draped over his shoulder.
