Evening Thread - Tuesday Edition

Tonight, on the WWE Network, at 8:00 ET it's Main Event live, followed by a new episode of Monday Night War at 9:00 and a repeat Countdown episode at 10:00.

Some key MLB games tonight: Tampa Bay @ Baltimore, Oakland @ Houston, Miami @ LA Angels, NY Yankees @ Detroit, Washington @ Philadelphia, St. Louis @ Pittsburgh, and Milwaukee @ San Diego.

The Simpsons marathon continues on FXX. I believe it's up to season 12 at this point.

There's money on the table here tonight, but it looks like e-book money, so it's not real currency.

  1. Simpsons: This seems to be about where I get out watching them new. Most of the descriptions look foreign to me

It's crazy how there is this huge gap in memory just based on the episode titles. Seasons 3 through 8, I can recall almost every episode based on the title. Beginning with season 9, it gets spotty. I guess that's where the gap in quality also starts. It didn't take very long to drop.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm the definition of casual Simpson's fan. A couple of years ago, my mom and I made it a habit to watch it together. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  4. This perfectly sums up the Bella segment.

  5. I didn't see it but ya'll making me feel like I missed some epic suckage.

    ReplyDelete
  6. ode lay! You speak Spanish right?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Portuguese, mofo.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Portuguese.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I should have known that. I watched "City of God" 10 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  10. you ever seen "city of God'?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Not the best Brazilian movie ever made.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I was feeling all cultured and stuff after I watched. I wish I knew what they were saying though.

    ReplyDelete
  13. what's the best?

    ReplyDelete
  14. City of God is a masterpiece.

    ReplyDelete
  15. upvote for you. I still have that dvd all these years later. I got it from Walmart. I'm shocked they even had it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Elite Squad 1 and 2.

    Narradores de Javé.

  17. "Your subscription to WWE Network has expired. To restart your subscription, please choose from one of the options below."

Yet I'm still able to use the WWE Network. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  18. It will be gone by tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Just saw a report on facebook that both Ryback and RVD are leaving next week. Can't help but laugh over RVD going over Cesaro on the Summerslam preshow.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's been working all day. Some guy on WrestleZone said his account expired in February and still works.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think a lot of guys are going to start leaving WWE soon. Whether it be to GFW, ROH, NJPW, TNA, or finding work elsewhere. Punk leaving set a new precedent.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm stating to think that RVD saying he's going to leave and then keeps staying is how WWE is trying to get back at Rey.

    ReplyDelete
  23. If that's on Netflix I'll check em out.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Elite Squad definetely will be.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think I might buy Night of Champions online on paypal, then close the paypal account afterwards.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes, the segment was that bad, and the worst part was how Nikki was actually decent.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Why aren't you reordering!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Why is Maggle Cole working the C show?

Also Hulu Raw was awful, so I can imagine the USA version was unbearable.

    ReplyDelete
  29. It just dragged.

    ReplyDelete
  30. RVD over Seth Rollins by count out? They fuckin' serious?

    ReplyDelete
  31. It wasn't nearly as bad as negative nancies on here keep saying

    ReplyDelete
  32. Last two episodes from Season 2 of arrow watched tonite!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I only caught a couple of segments of the show last night. Remember when JBL and Lawler were sparring about Reigns throwing a cinder block and Cole was just waiting for them to shut up so he could pimp the network? That kind of sums up why I would just rather go to bed.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Longest 90 minutes of my life.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Rough. I'm leaning towards a few week break til Ambrose is back

    ReplyDelete
  36. I always thought those two would have been a good team - matching tights, differing styles, backstage vignettes of RVD telling the Big Guy to "chill out man".....could have been okay for mid-card tags.

    ReplyDelete
  37. MY MAN. Did you figure out which episode I was talking about that was excellent?

    ReplyDelete
  38. He never answers when I ask. He must.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I should know this but which one is Nikki? I only know them by their boob size.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Even Jerry was getting tired of saying 9.99.

    ReplyDelete
  41. New! Nitro! Next week! We promise! Please don't cancel! PLEEEEEEAAAASSE!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well, no lol. Was it the one when Slade went crazy in the Island?

    ReplyDelete
  43. She's the one with the big ones.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I answered it yesterday when someone asked:

I've seen 98% of the PPV's they have on there in the library, the SNME's are available on Youtube, I've seen a bunch of the Clashes, the new documentaries they are adding have already been released on DVD or have little to no interest from me, the live PPVs have had bad quality live minus 1-2 of them, they have put in little to no effort in putting up any older content like Prime Time, NWA/WCW Saturday Night, Nitro, Thunder, heck even the older RAWs are going up very slowly.

    ReplyDelete
  45. He recently transfered from Al Qaeda to ISIS

    ReplyDelete
  46. It involved a big twist towards the end involving Moira...

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've been in some lectures around these two days about the Brazilian Dictatorship, it's just sad how people suffered.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think they bill $59.94 altogether now to avoid people from doing that again. That's what it read when I signed up last week.

    ReplyDelete
  49. AJPW defection- the WWE version?

    ReplyDelete
  50. So do you still get a free t-shirt if you sign up to the WWE network?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Is it getting better now or what?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Did that actually happen? OY VEY.

    ReplyDelete
  53. When you have a chance to keep a part time wrestler, full time pot head above half your roster, you HAVE to do it

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ah okay, yes that was awesome. I think the second season started off slower but I like the later episodes of this season better than season 1

    ReplyDelete
  56. Is AJPW the worst promotion in Japan?

    ReplyDelete
  57. No, they only had that for a week in July. WWE needs to try harder.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Adam Rose vs. Curtis Axel....wow.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Kinda, the State attacks any type of social movement. It's a strange thing I can only explain face to face. The elites still hold a lot of power.

    ReplyDelete
  60. That is exactly how I felt. I like how Slade has been portrayed as totally unstoppable and Oliver just gets more and more desperate for ways to stop him.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Has anyone ever seen Heyman's wife?

    ReplyDelete
  62. AJPW was the biggest of the 90's but when downhill because Misawa convinced over half of the roster to leave. He then made NOAH with those guys.

    ReplyDelete
  63. It's way more interesting than finding a name on a list and crossing it off.

    ReplyDelete
  64. There is a brief picture of her in the documentary, but that's it

    ReplyDelete
  65. I didn't see her. Scale 1-10?

    ReplyDelete
  66. They just need to keep looking back at history to make sure nothing bad happens.

    ReplyDelete
  67. That's how you should book Deathstroke. He has a clean win against Batman in the comics.

    ReplyDelete
  68. 5. Typical mom/housewfie. Nothing worth looking at but wouldn't make you kill yourself just to expunge the image from your brain.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Typical mom/housewfie. Nothing worth looking at but wouldn't make you kill yourself just to expunge the image from your brain.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Possibly hot in her day? I could see Heyman talking hot girls to fuck him.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yeah. That was fine for a season but wouldv'e worn thin quickly. Tommy got a raw deal though.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Watches his best friend bang his just recent ex and then dies.

    ReplyDelete
  73. It was just a picture of a picture and only there for a second so I couldn't really say. I agree with your assessment though... anyone that is that good of a con man is probably swimming in cunt... he is like a real life version of Aaron Eckhart's character in Thank You For Smoking

    ReplyDelete
  74. There's 3 options. $9.99/month, $59.94 at once, or $12.99 month-to-month.

    ReplyDelete
  75. The segment itself wasn't that bad, it's that you need some level of talent to play the over-the-top heel lines and crying babyface, which they glaringly lack.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Everyone fucked him over... his dad, Laurel, Oliver, Thea... and he was nice to everyone... then died just because Laurel was too fucking stupid to do what she was told.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I just typed it into Google Images, and the first pic to come up was Dixie Carter.

    ReplyDelete
  78. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 26, 2014 at 6:30 PM

No f'ing way Heyman would ever get screwed by Katie Holmes. Killed that movie for me.

    ReplyDelete
  79. How much better does WWE get once Vince fully retires?

    ReplyDelete
  80. I imagine Paul's wife as the woman Frank Zappa sang about in "Jewish Princess"...

    ReplyDelete
  81. I killed that movie for you... or Eckhart's character fucking Holmes did?

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'm in episode 6 of arrow, does Laurel gets any worse?

    ReplyDelete
  83. I didn't think it was. That information has removed my desire to see it now

    ReplyDelete
  84. Steph assumes day-to-day control, so...

    ReplyDelete
  85. 50/50 chance of getting better.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Funny that Thea and Tommy almost had a Luke and Lea moment.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Laurel gets to be insufferable by the end of season 2

    ReplyDelete
  88. If HHH takes the reigns, much better.
If Steph takes them, much worse.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Wayyyyy worse.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:32 PM

I'm going to have to check my bank account now and see how they're charging me, aren't I? I'm going to end up pissed. I can feel it.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Does Cole work like 90 hour work weeks?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Right? I always wondered if the writers added that in at the last moment or not

    ReplyDelete
  93. Does Diggle gets more screen time?

    ReplyDelete
  94. I really think Steph/HHH sell. Probably to some Time Warner like conglomerate that eventually shuts it down.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Dammit Oliver, go after Felicity.

    ReplyDelete
  96. So you think the "this business" Tough Enough speech was a load of crap?

    ReplyDelete
  97. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 26, 2014 at 6:33 PM

Bad choices of words. Eckhart being stupid enough to talk to Holmes' character (even though he wins in the end) just makes me so angry. Yuppie Mephistopheles (or Heyman) would not be that stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  98. This isn't their baby and any offer they get would just be too much to turn down.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I doubt HHH sells it, but wrestling is no longer a mainstream thing. Maybe this is the final years of Professional wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I'd say 6 regular hours, 9 if he has a PPV that week.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Won't spoil anything for you.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Before we see history repeat itself.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I wonder if wrestling would raise back up from the ashes. Indy wrestling is about dead and I'm not sure if the territories can be resurrected.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I think Pro Wrestling will always have a home on TV. WWE and TNA combine for like 10 million+ viewers each week.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:36 PM

Laurel spent most of the second season being too fucking stupid about everything, though.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I think Jarrett is trying to copy the old NWA style with GFW.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:36 PM

Definitely need to rewatch S2. So torturous waiting week to week for episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I may be a idiot but because of this, I think CM Punk was a guy that could've made wrestling mainstream again. He has look that appeals more to casuals.

    ReplyDelete
  109. It still years for the NWA to build up a base and that was without all the entertainment competition that exists now. I hope it succeeds but I'm not holding my breath.

    ReplyDelete
  110. It better not die, I'm writing characters into a story that are hardcore psychotic wrestling fans, the jokes would then have no meaning.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Anybody watching "City Slam" on ESPN2? The host/announcer is HORRIBLE.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Ah yes I agree with that. I thought it was poor writing anyway... no way someone as experienced at lying and spinning would share that much with a reporter with her reputation just because she is kinda pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  113. GFW has the benefit of the internet and social media that the NWA never had.

    ReplyDelete
  114. In 2011 it was right there for the taking. They just weren't sold on him. I'd love to hear the shoot on everything that went down.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Good, he's so far my favorite character.

    ReplyDelete
  116. No, but I have watched Slam City, which could be equally as bad.

    ReplyDelete
  117. It was the perfect time to give the ROCKET PUSH.

    ReplyDelete
  118. War Games will make a comeback when he does.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Why do I think they are seriously building towards Hogan vs. Cena?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:39 PM

You'd be amazed at what hot reporters get away with...

    ReplyDelete
  121. internet and social media is like spitting in the wind. It all just comes off as spam.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I have a theory that Cole is in a great amount of pain from being tortured through the headset and having to shill so much for years on end. He has been trying to send messages to us to save him from this torture through a complicated series of blinks while on camera.

    ReplyDelete
  123. NWA refuses to catch up to the present. Guys like Pearce, Cabana and others say this.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Are the voices on Slam City done by the actual wrestlers?

    ReplyDelete
  125. This. Yet another thing that i hate about the archaic way TV is delivered to us. Netflix knows how to do it by putting out a whole season at one time.

    ReplyDelete
  126. ???? I'm talking about GFW becoming a present day 80's style NWA

    ReplyDelete
  127. :laughs:
Not in the slightest, and it shows.

    ReplyDelete
  128. cowardwhotriedtoquitAugust 26, 2014 at 6:40 PM

Part of me thinks that why they replaced Katie Holmes in The Dark Knight: I would've been twitching whenever their two characters interacted.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I'm saying that GFW is investing on something NWA never did. That gives them something.

    ReplyDelete
  130. The real NWA, not the pretend NWA.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Because WWE would think that's a match everyone wants to see, they have trained you well.

    ReplyDelete
  132. is that the streetball thing?

    ReplyDelete
  133. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:41 PM

No fucking way they sell. This is the only business Stephanie McMahon knows.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Yeah, a multi-event dunk contest for streetball dudes. They have a freestyle competition, tandem dunks, a vertical bar...

    ReplyDelete
  135. Well NWA tried with NJPW for a little bit and that didn't work. They had a TV deal the past couple years but the show sucked.

For GFW to succeed, Jarrett needs to go to the doorsteps of Jim Ross and others and beg and plead him to come scout talent and broadcast as well as book for him.

    ReplyDelete
  136. She doesn't have that personal investment like Vince, and if they hit a downturn I really don't see her toughing it out. I'm talking 1995 downturn. A good offer comes and she's gone.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Brad Garrett voiced Hogan on Rock N Wrestling, maybe he's doing Cena now? Not like he has a full dance card...

    ReplyDelete
  138. And please Jeff, if you wanna wrestle, fine. But don't make yourself the big deal of GFW.

    ReplyDelete
  139. That the one with Highriser? Is this the one from 10 years ago?

    ReplyDelete
  140. I have a feeling AJ Styles will be the first GFW Champion. perhaps manged by Jeff Jarrett as well. I'd rather just see all authority figures not on TV at all except for a contract signing or something at the "headquarters" like they used to do with Jack Tunney.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Yep. They brought it back. They've had some NBA guys show up to guest judge. Terrence Ross is on this episode.
WOW. The host just said, "I'm hyped, the trees are hyped, the ocean is hyped..."

    ReplyDelete
  142. Oh yeah, kids would enjoy it.

    ReplyDelete
  143. And no NWO rehash angle.

    ReplyDelete
  144. It sounded like theRock's voice in the one with him and Mark Henry. If it wasn't Rock, it was a great impersonation. The rest of the voices sound nothing like the actual wrestlers.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Vince was fine in early 98 cause he didn't exert his authority, but they can't help themselves, so I'm with you. Get them off tv.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Or it could be because you saw this....
    http://botchedspot.com/comic/hulks-big-wish/

    ReplyDelete
  147. LOL a stable trying to take over GFW when GFW has only been around a week

    ReplyDelete
  148. My seven year old likes them.

    ReplyDelete
  149. hahaha. I'm such a hoops junkie that I'll end up watching it one night at 4am when I can't sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  150. You know he can't make that promise.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:47 PM

Felicity is easily one of the best characters on the show. My girlfriend is all about her hooking up with Ollie.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:48 PM

She doesn't have the personal investment? SHANE doesn't have the personal investment like VInce. You why I think that? He left. Steph has been there this whole time.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I wouldn't mind at all if ESPN brought back the AND1 mixtape tour show, or something like it.

    ReplyDelete
  154. She still a minor in the episodes I'm watching.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:49 PM

She gets a lot more screen time as S1 and S2 progresses.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Why are there 2 versions of "Rise of the NWO" under Monday Night Wars?

    ReplyDelete
  158. Anybody know what was supposed to be the storyline progression of Vince's limo being blown up? This was the storyline that got dropped immediately because of Benoit, right?

    ReplyDelete
  159. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:51 PM

He faked his death to find a traitor in the family or some such.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I'm not a huge fan. She is to quirky and nice and has that New Girl vibe... but this is me we're talking about

    ReplyDelete
  161. So we owe Benoit?

    ReplyDelete
  162. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 26, 2014 at 6:52 PM

A better question is who would want to buy it?

    ReplyDelete
  163. King Jong Ul?

    Hi Curry.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Wish I did, it at least gave us smiling Paul London.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:53 PM

New Girl as in the Fox TV show? I don't get that vibe at all.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 26, 2014 at 6:56 PM

Hi I don't remember what your IRL last name is. Dick. And it's Kim Jong, not King Jong.

But seriously, Steph and HHH can't sell the WWE, because there's no one out there that has that kind of cash, outside of maybe Mark Cuban.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 26, 2014 at 6:57 PM

Maybe? I might be confusing my timelines of stupid McMahon stories.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Would have made sense in all those story lines for Kennedy to be involved.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Yeah and I do. I prefer women to have an edge. A preference that has worked remarkably well for me.

  174. Just bought Madden for the Xbox One. It's the first Madden I've bought since '09. Why does every game you play have to be installed now? It's been installing for 30 minutes now.

    ReplyDelete
  175. I forgot about that name thing.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I hate that. Installing Journey for PS3 is what gave my console the yellow light of death.

    ReplyDelete
  177. In the old days you just had to put a CD or Tape, done.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Don't you see, it was obviously Paul London, he was the only one smiling.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 26, 2014 at 6:58 PM

    So does everyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  180. I liked when it gave you the choice. You could decide to install or not. Now you actually cannot play until the game installs.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Count the days to produce a more impressive number

    ReplyDelete
  182. That was perfect. Installing is just such a waste of time and HD space.

    GTAV took like an hour.

A take it by "tape" you mean cartridge, video games on a cassette tape was way before my time even.

    ReplyDelete
  188. So watching episode of Pat the NES Punk's Flea Market Madness has inspired me to start collecting either SNES, N64, or Dreamcast games. I am still deciding on which one. I've owned each on separate occasions, but don't own any currently. Which should I try and collect? I'm leaning towards SNES.

    ReplyDelete
  189. It was supposed to lead to HHH v Ken Kennedy, which seemed like a good idea to someone.
