How to take the sting of getting up for work at 6:30 in the morning on a Saturday for work? Remembering that, unlike at home, I have FXX on my TV in my cubicle. Empty office too, so I have Simpsons cranked while I'm doing a This Is Awesome chant to myself

That's sweet. What do you do for a living that you have a TV in your cube?

I'm an editor at Pac-12 Network; new season of sports started yesterday so I'm in today to cut yesterday's broadcasts down to a shorter runtime for re-airings. I have three monitors at my desk, two I use for editing and one that's a TV feed, so we can watch sports while cutting sports. FXX used to be Fox Soccer, so that's how I wound up with it at work.

I think the bloody Itchy and Scratchy stuff was the main reason my parents wouldn't let me watch Simpsons as a kid, that and Bart of course

Yes. It's a very weird feeling when you look forward to the job part of your job, which I've never experienced before. And my bullpen is right next to our studio, so our network talent comes through here from time to time, I've met guys like Ronnie Lott and Jake The Snake Plummer. And we're just a couple of blocks from AT&T Park, so if they need to fill up seats, they'll give us complimentary seats, and the conference just gave us complimentary tix to Stanford's home opener next week, I've never been to a CFB game before. And on top of all that, my job is making stuff that goes on TV -- 90% of non- football re aired games from last season that are currently on the network I did myself, on top of a bunch of games-on-demand and highlight reels they've used for studio shows and training camp specials. And the kicker is that I'm paid comfortably well, so the only downside to this job I can think of is the long BART commute to the city for me, but that's it. Outside of that, it's a dream job and I'm just getting my foot in the door.

    TL;DR: Fuck yeah

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thats pretty good, and you actually left an episode out of that run. Since Marge vs the monorail should have been in between triple bypass and selmas choice. So thats a good 10.

Mine gets to 11 by adding:

    Lisa on ice
    homer badman
    grandpa v sexual inadequacy
    fear of flying

I dont love the flying episode, but it's an excellent run nonetheless.....

I'm a huge soccer fan, so I can't echo your sentiments. I used to wake up at 4am on Saturdays or Sundays to watch United playon FSC. That said, I don't miss Fox Soccer because NBC's coverage is so much better, so I guess you're right after all!
