BoD Sunday Night Thread

Talk about everything going on tonight here

Comments

  1. Should be a good night. Trying a new pizza place. Local news named it best pizza in the state in a crooked pole. Should be a good time.

    ReplyDelete
  2. What kind of toppings did you get?

13 hours from now, I gots me a job interview. Gonna need a good night's sleep tonight.

Best pizza in the state? Doesn't matter, it's not NYC or NJ pizza.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Just sausage and pepperoni. Nothing fancy. Just trying to get a feel for the za.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Although unlikely, which would have a more immediate positive impact on WWE creatively: Canceling the third hour of Raw, or canceling Smackdown?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Best of luck to you. I believe in you. Just be yourself, but better.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Both would be a wonderful breath of fresh air.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:06 PM

Neither, you still have the same nincompoops running the show.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Third hour of RAW by far.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Evidently Starter jackets are back for NBA teams. I loved my Started jacket as a kid, warmest coat ever.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The NFL Playoff Machine is the greatest thing ever.

Good luck, you should be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Listen to some NWA Flair promos before...it's an odd preinterview tradition for me

    ReplyDelete
  15. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 30, 2014 at 6:11 PM

    Making Raw 2 hours again.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lol did the pizza shop owners buy off the poll?

    ReplyDelete
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB2yqeD0Nus

    ReplyDelete
  18. Man, you don't get toppings on pizza, unless a shit pie from a place like pizza hut.

Although there is a place by work with a fantastic garbage pie -- the exception that proves the rule.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:12 PM

As I walk up to the building, I'll be listening to Real American and Eye of the Tiger, maybe a little Cult of Personality mixed in.

    ReplyDelete
  20. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 30, 2014 at 6:12 PM

Glad I wasn't the only one thinking of that line,

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think making the first hour of Raw squash matches and then two hours of main events and storylines would benefit everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm nothing if not for shunning reality for the comfort of old movie lines

    ReplyDelete
  23. Do NOT listen to Nick Bockwinkel promos, as you'll end up calling someone a cretinous humanoid.

    ReplyDelete
  24. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 30, 2014 at 6:14 PM

And Airplane is one of the best places to take lines from.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yes! Huge with nfl too

    ReplyDelete
  26. I have been legitimately curious since I have been reading on the blog for the last year or so.

If you had to put a top 3 favorite (not necessarily best) matches on a list, what would be on it for you?

    For me it would be
Austin/Hart Wrestlemania 13 because that is simply my favorite match
Michaels/Taker (Ground Zero for the chaos, but any of them would work),
    and....
Edge/Mysterio vs. Benoit/Angle from No Mercy 2002 for tag goodness.

    ReplyDelete
  27. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 30, 2014 at 6:16 PM

Hey WWF1987, which guys are more hated in wrestling, the Briscos or Gracies?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Benoit/HHH/HBK at WM
    Benoit/Jericho Ladder match
Steen/Generico fight without honor at Final battle 2010.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I just noticed that it's been years since the ramp and tron setup for ANY wwe tv event was positioned to the right of the hard camera. What the fuck is that about?? I don't like it

    ReplyDelete
  30. Fuck Jay Briscoe.

    ReplyDelete
  31. There had to be something with the arena

    ReplyDelete
  32. Gracies are actually well respected in Japan. They wrestle horribly though but the respect comes from their PRIDE days.
Briscoes are loved by a ton of fans, no idea why.

I'd say its a toss up. Both are liked and hated.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Good Evening, I'm Jay Thomas - You might remember me from such memorable emails like Should Brock Lesnar make Bray Wyatt and the NWO - Did Vince Send Them There On Purpose?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:19 PM

It's just establishing a uniformed look for television. Tron on the left, announcers on the right.

    ReplyDelete
  35. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 30, 2014 at 6:19 PM

I'm not sure. Last time they had that setup may have been the night after WM 27.

    ReplyDelete
  36. If I had to choose matches from other feds, I would choose Flair/Steamboat from ChiTown Rumble and probably Strong/Evans v. Jacobs/Whitmer from Manhattan Mayhem.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Just DVR the show and watch it in a mirror.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:20 PM

Chicago pizza is a COMPLETELY different animal than NYC pizza. You don't get deep dish in NYC and you don't ask for New York-style in Chicago. It's just not as good.

    ReplyDelete
  39. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 30, 2014 at 6:21 PM

Ah ok, I was just watching a Botchamania with them getting a highlight segment, and I was thinking "Are these the Gracie's people hate?"

    ReplyDelete
  40. Gracies mocked wrestling, Sakuraba swore revenge he did, he took them one by one,

    ReplyDelete
  41. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:21 PM

The pizza joint the next block over from me does a penne vodka pizza that is just amazing. I have to go right to the gym and work for a couple of hours after having a slice, but it's completely worth it.

    ReplyDelete

  43. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:22 PM

Advertising dollars go a long damn way.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Tough one. Shawn/Taker WM 25, Shawn/Taker Hell in a Cell, Triple H/Cactus Jack Rumble 2000.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I remember watching that ladder match live and just absolutely cringing at that flying chair shot. It still gives me the creeps to this day, especially knowing what we do now.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I miss when they were in MSG and the entrance was positioned right in front of the hard camera.

Anyway it must just be a way to standardize the arena set up. When they would go to Hershey for TV shows back in the syndicated days the would do a wierd ass L shaped entrance way.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm pretty burnt out on football so I'm watching the Phil Hartman block of the Simpsons.

    ReplyDelete

Matt Cross vs Johnny Gargano at Wrestlelusion 3
    Angle vs HBK WM 21
Okada vs Ibushi from whatever that NJPW PPV was in February.

  49. Were they making fun of their horrible wreslting?

    ReplyDelete
  50. They say it's possible... but for the life of me I cannot sneak the Bucs into the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  51. If only Fios had access to Simpsons World...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I would have actually guessed it was many many MANY years before that.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I had a BIG preowned Giants one. Those were the shit in the 90s.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Except for USA Network

Yep, in a match with Yano laughing at them while trying to hit them with a plastic chair,

  57. Could be. It was also recently featured on a popular pbs restaurant show.

    ReplyDelete
  58. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 30, 2014 at 6:28 PM

I'm still surprise USA wants them to be 100% in star power. You'd think they would try to sell Raw off by now.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I don't know, I just looked up a clip of the show. It always looks the same to me.

    ReplyDelete
  60. They just changed the ship date for my iPhone 6+ to 12/20/2014 - 01/03/2015.

    Everything's coming up Millhouse!

    ReplyDelete
  61. yeah, do that and they'll have you redo your drug screen

  64. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:31 PM

Girlfriend walks in as I'm watching NXT with Charlotte on the screen: "Jesus, look at that nose. What is she, Flair's daughter?"

    She's learning.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I would still hit Charlotte.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:32 PM

    Ugh, pass.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I can admit to you that I agree on your list. I just wanted a bit of variability in my list. Austin/Hart was not going to get moved out of my top spot. However, there are about 20 others that I could really put in the other 2 spots, just depending on the day. Like I said, I love the Ground Zero match because it is just choreographed chaos. Most people would put the WM 25 and HIAC matches on their list, but I think I have seen those so many times that I have gotten somewhat desensitized to the impacts.

    ReplyDelete
  68. She's jelly. Charlotte is gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  69. When was the last time they had that msg setup? Rumble 08?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Chopped her down and put her in the figure four... bitch reversed it. So I climbed to the top of the couch trying to jump on her... bitch slammed me off to the floor.

Not sure why that's always my go-to move...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Same. She's easily in my current WWE Top 5.

    ReplyDelete
  72. The best food in the state here is in a gas station. Oklahoma Joe's BBQ, it's even been on one of Tony Bourdain's shows

    ReplyDelete
  73. Three hours of original programming with no offseason

    ReplyDelete
  74. Did Bayless really go 0-5?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Maybe when they did Raw there in 09?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Fuck the Patriots and the Packers. I hate both teams equally. That was painful to watch, especially while trapped on a plane.

    ReplyDelete
  77. chicago pizza is good, but it's almost closer to lasagna than pizza

    ReplyDelete
  78. I like Arrowhead. It's one of the few stadiums that's instantly recognisable.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Truly has its own identity.

    ReplyDelete

This commercial really brings me back.
    http://youtu.be/-kfrjAW8Svc

    ReplyDelete
  81. Ordered it on 10/11. First estimate was 1 - 8 weeks. Then November 22nd. Then December 6th - December 20th now December 20th - January 3rd.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hmmm I cant recall a RAW at all where they had the msg entrance dead center of the ring

    ReplyDelete
  83. My favorites were the old WWF action figure commercials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-zln9nKtLk

    ReplyDelete
  84. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 30, 2014 at 6:36 PM

Didn't realized that was you Jobber.

    ReplyDelete
  85. It was me Abeyance, It was me all along!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. My roommate is definitely a fan of Charlotte. As I'm more a Bayley guy there were almost fisticuffs. Okay just a lot of enjoying leg holds during their matches.

    ReplyDelete
  87. 1-8 weeks...That's a bit vague.

That's like saying "I will be there to fix your cable between....tomorrow and 2017." At least it's finally coming down to a much more certain time. Though it has been pushed back just a wee bit.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:38 PM

Man, that was one popular model.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Man I love that ground zero match. You explain it perfectly. It feels like utter chaos but it's all...part of the plan.

The no contest works too because it sets up HIAC. It's one of those ultimate mark out matches for me. Taker is righteously pissed and just beats the ever loving shit out of Shawn, gets jumped by his goons and it gets so damn crazy that the whole roster comes out to stop it. Then the "Air Taker moment" just amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I'm thinking hard about this....

    1992 Rumble.
    1990 Summerslam Harts Foundation/Demolution
    WrestleMania X-7 Rock/Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  91. As much as cole, lawler, and jbl sucks lets at least be thankful that Matt Striker isn't there anymore. Worst commentator ever I'd say.

    ReplyDelete
  92. jericho defeats hhh for the belt
ziggler defeats del rio for the belt
    1992 rumble

    ReplyDelete
  93. I didn't recognize you either. If everyone changed their names but kept the same avatar I wouldn't miss a beat but just changing the avatar confuses me.

    ReplyDelete
  94. The 92 Rumble is another one of those that is on my list because it's so easy to watch. Wrestlemania X7 is probably my 1b to the Hart/Austin 1a as my favorite Wrestlemania matches.

    ReplyDelete
  95. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 30, 2014 at 6:40 PM

That did a great job of selling the product.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Lawler pisses me off the most because I know how good he can be when he cares. Same with JBL - both of them can tell Vince to take a walk any old time, but they don't.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I don't know man, Lord Alfred Hayes is right there.

    ReplyDelete
  98. third hour of raw; any 3 hour show is a bit tedious including ppv sometimes

    ReplyDelete
  99. You just summed 30 minutes up in about 8 lines. The main thing about it...is that it's fun.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Piper was the host, Kofi and Orton did a crazy brawl and the main event was Cena/Undertaker v. DX v. Jerishow

    ReplyDelete
  101. I nominate Steve McMichael. He ruins a lot of early Nitros for me.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Those were great products, too. Around $4-$5 a piece. I remember going to Toys R Us as a kid and spending 30 minutes deciding which one I wanted to get each weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  103. The cocaine budget for that ad must have been nuts

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT6o0Pq2dHo

    ReplyDelete
  104. I think Cena bladed at Bragging Rights 09 in the iron man match vs Orton but tried to make it look hardway.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:42 PM

I wouldn't say Matt Striker was the worst ever. Booker T was hard to listen to at times,

    ReplyDelete
  108. You shouldn't hit girls.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I love Mongo. One of my favorite announcers and wrestlers of all time. For me Mongo is in the so bad it actually turns good department.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Hey you can get married in SC now!

    ReplyDelete
  111. new Chris Webby worth a listen for all the hip hop heads

    ReplyDelete
  112. Ted DiBiase was pretty terrible on the few occasions he was in the booth.

    ReplyDelete
  113. That's what happens when people hear what Thee Parallax is getting... everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Mongrels was a very funny show you can find for free online that you should watch if you haven't yet. And I can do a really good impression of the cat, Marion.

    ReplyDelete
  115. YES! Fun. That match is a fucking blast to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  116. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 30, 2014 at 6:43 PM

  117. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:43 PM

    My girlfriend will be overjoyed!

    ReplyDelete
  118. I found Booker T to be better, and Stevie Ray too. Actually Stevie Ray was kind of awesome in all seriousness.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Ha! Yes! You will forever be man at podium in a white graduation gown.

    ReplyDelete
  120. That's the first I've looked her up was just now. She does have a bit of nose going on there.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Worst ever? Neidhart was up there, partly for screwing up Gorilla and Heenan.

    ReplyDelete

  123. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:44 PM

I'm thinking of getting the Plus in March.

    ReplyDelete
  124. No you don't. It gets too confusing because you fuck around with your name too. No one can ever keep you straight.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I don't know if he's up there in that David Crockett territory, but he at least gave a shit.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Yeah, she could get it.

    ReplyDelete
  127. What about with an open fist?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Are you posting from a renaissance faire?

    ReplyDelete
  129. I'm surprised WWE films has never done a film like Ready to Rumble. You had no holds barred, but that was more about battle of the tough guys than wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Savage / Warrior at WM7
Foley / Taker HITC at KOTR98
    Rock / Hogan at WM18

I was there live for the last two so they have special memories for me. Rock / Hogan's crowd heat was off the charts and lead to it being unforgettable.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:46 PM

It's a button down shirt and tie, damn it!

    ReplyDelete
  134. It's frowned upon...

    ReplyDelete
  135. Just bringing back Olde English then.

    That's cool.

    ReplyDelete
  136. what was the crowd thinking after foley's falls (besides holy shit and this is awesome)?

    ReplyDelete

  140. They aren't just a Kmart brand anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  141. New Haven pizza is pretty great too. I'll take Pepe's over most things in NJ.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I don't know, its allowed in wrestling...

    ReplyDelete
  143. Alright, who was your favorite wrestler to do commentary?

I don't mean retired like Taz, Lawler or whoever. Not full time. But active wrestler who would do commentary while watching a rivals' match or do it for a short stint?

I'd say Punk, especially his heel run when he was on commentary for about a month or two. He was hilarious.

Also props to Austin when he'd do it back during the Attitude Era. I thought his commentary helped the Funk/Foley RAW match to set up Foley's feud with Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 30, 2014 at 6:48 PM

I'm still taking that as a compliment...

    ReplyDelete
  145. Did he or AA hit more top rope axhandles? Both are in the single digits, I'm sure.

    ReplyDelete
  146. ESPN says the 7-5 Bills are in the thick of the playoff hunt. Here's their remaining schedule:
    @ Denver.
    Green Bay.
    @ Raiders.
    @ New England.

    So, 8-8 then.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Owen and Punk is #2

    ReplyDelete
  148. This is awesome wasn't really a thing yet in '98. I was about a dozen rows back from the announcers and most people were just in stunned silence. I thought he was dead.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Austin wins because he'd actually talk about the match.

Punk for the humor, Striker for the insight.

    ReplyDelete
  153. That's why I liked him too. He'd put over the guys as threats and talk about the match. Loved when he would do it.

    ReplyDelete
  154. if they did, I wonder if they would try to have it be like the wrestling was real? I suspect if they did a wrestling movie now, they'd try to be hip and tell a "behinds the scenes" story

    ReplyDelete
  155. You definitely look like him, at least from far away, and the sunglasses matched his too. Hows you karate?

    ReplyDelete
  156. To me that seems to be what's missing in a lot of today's wrestling. Nothing is as fun as it used to be when watching. There have only been a few matches in the last year (the three different Shield six mans from EC/Payback/Extreme Rules), Bryan/HHH) that I could really just sit and watch that I truly enjoyed. I did get a kick out of watching some of the Tanahashi/Okada/Styles matches from NJPW, but American wise there has been very little enjoyable wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Hillybilly Jim did some MSG shows and was just awful.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Austin vs Hart from Survivor Series 96
Cactus Jack vs HHH from Rumble 2000
Lesnar vs Cena from Summerslam 2014

    ReplyDelete
  163. Are you hot? .......*checks*........you are not.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  165. edge and christian as the conquistadores

    ReplyDelete
  166. I think Ambrose would be really good at that if they let him

    ReplyDelete
  167. Punk was awesome, and Kevin Sullivan and Terry Funk were both really good. Kevin Nash wins for his performance on the last Thunder.
