I love that Murdock is a cool customer, but not just another Bruce Wayne. He's an "everyman" but not a bumbling idiot. He can kick ass, but he's not some generic tough guy. He's a bit of a dark soul, but not some brooding douche. Brilliant character.

John Morrison would be great to get a Samoa Joe type deal to work a bunch of NXT cycles and house shows while still doing indies. That dude could tear shit up with Balor/Owens/Breeze/Joe.

Fuck, Morrison would be great coming into Raw and sliding in as a top tier babyface, but that's another story.

They need to come up with some original ideas that don't suck then. I agree that it could border on oversaturation, but every time I think they took too much risk (Guardians of the Galaxy), it ends up delivering.

Rebooting 40-year old franchises is a different issue and not the comic movie industry's fault.

That'd be excellent, but it'd suck to bring a guy back with a loss.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Owens interferes for the DQ? No one gets a "real" loss.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It's a Hollywood/movie industry fault. The movies get shittier and the prices get higher. I haven't felt compelled to go to the movie theater to watch a film since The Dark Knight.

  20. Worst_in_the_WorldMay 26, 2015 at 12:28 PM

And Cody Rhodes tops my list of guys who need to get sent down to NXT and rehabbed ASAP.

He needs to show up on NXT and shit all over the Stardust gimmick, and figure out how to either get over as just himself. Worked really well for Tyson Kidd.

Cody could absolutely use 6-12 months having kickass matches/feuds in NXT and helping headline their house shows. I'd say the same would go for a few other main roster acts: Paige, Fandango complete with a brand new gimmick, and Damien Sandow.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well, we'll show them! Especially for that FlagShare4LikeReply remark!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Are there really people that think Daniel Bryan sold out by wrestling in the WWE? I read comments on a lot of boards over the years and I think ive only heard that once or twice by obvious trolls . Nothing ever serious though. I never thought the IWC was THAT bad where they would want a guy to destroy their body for almost no money. Maybe im just naive.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think Morrison is doing pretty well for himself doing indies and C-list movies. I think the door has always been open for him to return to WWE, so I guess he doesn't need the money (or the grief, or both)

    ReplyDelete
  24. The note about how Brock is awesome by doing something different is the killer.

Everyone in the WWE is pushed to be exactly the same. For all the ribbing the indys get for pushing a roster of boring and samey vanilla midgets, WWE does jack shit to differentiate its midcard.

    ReplyDelete
  25. One of these days, when the WWE does an overseas tour or something, it would be BOSS if NXT 'took over' Raw. You could obscure the smaller roster size by running a one-night tournament, or giving the main event plenty of time (NXT Title Match/Women's Title Match perhaps). You could have the weekly NXT episodes build up to it for weeks, maybe have a few WWE v. NXT challenge matches built up as well. Run a bigger venue than Full Sail, but a smaller, more intimate setting than your usual RAW to differentiate it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Worst_in_the_WorldMay 26, 2015 at 12:30 PM

Also, how completely dead in the water is Sandow? What a shame. They really had a chance to make an upper midcard babyface if they'd had him decisively win the Miz feud and then followed through with him changing out of a comedy gimmick.

Now he's probably worse off in his career than he's maybe ever been.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Like when ECW took over RAW in 1997?

I like it, but a 3 hour show would be the death of NXT

    ReplyDelete
  28. Cody Rhodes is even more depressing to me than Rusev or Bray Wyatt; whereas the other two had their shot with top guys before the WWE crippled their pushes, Rhodes is far more talented, just as charismatic, and has been around far longer. But no matter how much heat the guy draws (glorious heel run as IC Champ, uber-heat with the return to face the Shield/Authority in 2013), he's always cast aside.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The only one I know of by me is an hour and a half away from me. I go there once a week during vacation.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Scratch that, when I go to change my lineup and it asks me to sign in (weird) it won't go through. Damnit, Miggy is DTD and I need to get him on to my bench!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Dont wory. The New Day will still play the black Panther guys.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Worst_in_the_WorldMay 26, 2015 at 12:32 PM

True, which is why a Samoa Joe NXT deal might work really well.

WWE gets to freshen up NXT TV for 6 months and have someone else who can help headline the NXT house shows, while Morrison can just have some good matches and make extra dough and not get caught up in typical WWE booking nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That's why you gimmick it and treat it like a Takeover special. The 2-hr. specials fly by on the Network; if you gave the main event 30 minutes, gave the women 20 minutes (all very doable) then ran a one-night #1 Contender's Tournament for the NXT Championship, plus maybe a special WWE v. NXT challenge match with one big star from the main roster? I'd wager that would make the 3-hour Raw broadcast far more palatable than it usually is.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Worst_in_the_WorldMay 26, 2015 at 12:33 PM

Yeah, Cody seems stuck in a "generation" of wrestlers that WWE has sort of passed over. Cody, Wade, Ziggler, Morrison--- talented guys who got stuck in between the Cena/Orton Era and the Shield Era.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Here's how you know ISIS, despite all their and the Republicans claims of being dangerous, aren't really that much of a threat to America:

Our country is filled with idiots who honestly believe that Obama is the leader of ISIS. All they have to do in one of their beheading videos is say that Obama is their ALLAH or something and watch people lose their minds.

Because you know a few of those nut jobs would arm up and try to "take back" the White House.

Rhodes Scholars was a fun tag team too

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree. Of course, I don't think WWE is going to make a habit of handing out Samoa Joe/Rhyno-style NXT deals.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's funny - to me, Mizdow's treatment and the failing of the end of that angle is what drove me away from the product.

    Not CENAWINSLOL
    Not Roman Reigns
    Not the Authority
    Not the nonsensical Bella angle
    Not boring 3 hour RAWS
Not booking Wyatt to lose to a guy who almost never shows up

I gave up on WWE due to Damien Sandow. I had to sit on that one for a minute.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm not ready to cast Kofi Kingston out of that group yet, either: just because he's found success in a tag team as cool as the New Day has become means little over all, because he's been in tag teams often over the last eight years. If the New Day spins him out into a big threat for a major championship, then we'll talk.

They were fucking great. The segment they did with Rock on a random Smackdown was probably the best segment of Rock's whole Mania 29 run.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I've been a Cody fan for a while. Stardust is awful. He strikes me as an Arn Anderson type guy. Just a super solid upper midcard guy. He could be having good feuds with Barrett or Sheamus.

    ReplyDelete
  42. So ISIS isn't dangerous because rubes are stupid? Is that your reasoning?

I'm trying to follow you here.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Worst_in_the_WorldMay 26, 2015 at 12:36 PM

    ReplyDelete
  45. For fuck's sake. Bryan and Punk are two of the biggest post-Attitude stars. This is so stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I thought Cody was in that role, too, since he was always really good, but never great (bridesmaid, rather than the bride sorta thing). But that promo he cut during his mini-run with the Authority in the Fall of 2013, then the comeback with Goldust against the Shield sold me on the guy as a possible future main eventer.

I SWEAR I'm not a terrorist or anything.

    ReplyDelete
  48. No, ISIS is dangerous. They're just not as dangerous or as a threat to America as the locals.

  49. The new hit horror movie from WWE Films

    ReplyDelete
  50. I can't help but think that the fast, hard-hitting, stiff Indie Style that brought up guys like Bryan & Punk is a huge part of the reason why they got so burned out physically once they hit the big leagues and were big stars there. The infamously "Full of Finishers" ROH style probably shaved 5-10 years off of everyone's career in that company.

I dunno, along with those two and Kendrick, it's the third of those deals they've done in just the last few months.

It might become the norm since HHH needs to keep NXT-TV hot and draw with his house shows, neither of which he'd be able to do easily without bringing in new (and name) talent every few months.

It'd be interesting to see when TNA shuts down in September if HHH brings in any of those guys (Aries, Bobby Roode, and maybe James Storm seem to fit the mold) for NXT runs.

  57. I know this is horribly cheesy, but Heath Ledger's line in the Dark Knight is very apropos when it comes to ISIS. "You know what, you know what I noticed? Nobody panics when things go
according to plan. Even if the plan is horrifying. If tomorrow I tell
the press that like a gang banger, will get shot, or a truckload of
soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it’s all, part of the
plan. But when I say that one, little old mare will die, well then

Has Kendrick really wrestled that much though? I thought he was brought in mostly to train Eva Marie.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Sounds to me like it...boomeranged on them.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'm giving Suicide Squad the benefit of the doubt because I want it to be. The only thing I'm pissed about is the movie making the execs tell the Arrow show runners they can't use the Suicide Squad, Deathstroke, and ARGUS any more. Which really sucks because according to the actress who plays Thea, they were eventually going to bring in Harley Quinn.

This is stupid because WB is adamant about the movies and shows being different, so why would it fucking matter if they're using the same characters

    ReplyDelete
  86. It is far too soon to reboot that character. He could be the best Joker of all time and people are still going to hate him.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Movie is going to hammer us over the head with "Get It?" moments like that. And, Will Smith getting jiggy wit it.

    ReplyDelete
  88. And if you do it as a surprise (which is what the ECW one was treated as), you can do a couple of normal segments/matches first before shit goes down. I think the ECW one also had the return of the L.O.D. to the WWF.

  98. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 26, 2015 at 12:59 PM

DC sucks and they know that all things DC rise and fall by Batman. None of their characters stand alone like Marvel's do. That's why we're getting Justice League right away and Batman vs. Superman is as interesting as they can make a Superman movie

    ReplyDelete
  99. Well that was my thought, but it seems weird they'd just pick and choose and do whatever they wanted. Is no one in control of the DCU as an entirety? Seems like someone should be saying "Um...none of these characters are Arrow's, leave them for if we want to use them for Batman."

    ReplyDelete
  100. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 26, 2015 at 1:01 PM

Batman vs. Superman is going to do big enough money to make it a "success" in financial terms, no matter what. But if people end up being lukewarm about the product itself, does that mean Justice League is dead in the water? It's not like people are going to get excited about JLA based on the supporting cast alone. If they can't get BvS right, they really aren't going to knock Justice League out of the park

Here's my thought on the shitty Joker.

Maybe the thinking is to create a Joker that moviegoers will actually WANT to see get his ass kicked?

The Nicholson and Ledger Jokers were fun and badass.
This Joker will be a hateable dork.

Basically the difference between cool heel and actual hated heel.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I may have been wrong about Owens. Cena putting 'fight Owens fight' out there was small but significant.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I took that a bit differently. I took it like if there was a handfull of guys post attitude era that are huge. Punk and Bryan would be in there along with Orton, Cena, Brock, Otunga, Edge, Batista and Angle. Which I would think is fair.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Great show. Scorpio and Holly should have been a permanent team.

In this world, there has been an alien invasion (Avengers), crazy technological advances (Stark), gods (Thor), crazy government developments (Shield rise and fall), and people with generally incredible abilities.....but it still plays great as one dude deciding to try and help his little sliver of the world (Hell's Kitchen) against a very mortal enemy

  136. That's a good one too. But I always have Conan going at the gym.

It's looking like Defenders vs. The Hand as the big showdown. At least, from what I've put together (see the Stick episode).

Where's jobber? He's quiet today. Maybe mourning the death of Steph Curry's spinal column?

  140. That's what makes it so great, it's so close to street level compared to everything else.

And the fighting...the fighting is just too good. I'd like to beat Nolan over the head with a DVD set of Daredevil screaming "THIS IS HOW BATMAN FIGHTS!!!!"

  141. That was beautiful, man!

  142. Maybe Option D happened to him :(

    40 minutes left, bitches!

  153. It would be silly for anyone to think that. The goal of anyone's career should be to monetize their efforts to the max. Never understood the "so and so sold out" philosophy under most circumstances.

    ReplyDelete
  154. That was me lol

I'm certain he got to C at one point.

  163. Man, I really need to finish watching series as soon as they come out. I'm only 5 episodes into Daredevil and there are spoilers galore in this thread lol

    ReplyDelete
  164. Hoe anyone starts that and immediately doesn't burn through the whole thing is beyond me. The last day of our trip to Germany we spent just watching Daredevil...fuck tourism lol

    ReplyDelete
  165. But how hard is it to subscribe with a new email address each time?

    ReplyDelete
  166. You mean Ryback?
    Or Henry?
Or Gork-only-knows how many other "monsters of the week" Cena has defeated in the last few years?

It's hard to trust WWE in these situations now because LOLCENAWINS. I would have preferred they kept Owens away from Cena for as long as possible. (Don't get me wrong -- I've been a huge fan of Owensteen since he and Zaynerico were fighting against the Briscoes, and I hope that WWE does the right thing with him. Unfortunately, we only have history to go on, and it ain't good for people to face Cena, especially so early).

I love that Vince McMahon refuses to acknowledge or placate his audience: which is not entirely difficult to "get." Yet you have Marvel, with its decades of storylines and characters, and filmmakers who "get" the fanbase (easter eggs, special effects, dead-on character development, perfect casting, etc) and produce something even better than the fanboys could "book" themselves

  168. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 26, 2015 at 1:23 PM

So....the Punk vs. Joe series back in the ROH days....

....would that be Skinny Fat vs. Fat Fat?

I somehow feel like I've said this before. It's entirely possible.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Yeah we staved off spoilers for weeks, but we're coming up on two months release so most of us have lifted that embargo

    ReplyDelete
  170. Oh I'm not saying there's a problem lol. I'm just saying that I need to keep up.

sorry dude, I thought I was the last one standing who hadn't finished the series. lol

    ReplyDelete
  173. Has there ever been a Fat Fat vs. Fat Fat marquee feud before? Joe vs. Owens might be treading down rare territory.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Yeah I was marking out when they brought out the kid, then the appearance of Stone at the end. It was glimpsing Thor's hammer at the end of I think Hulk, and knowing were close to supernatural going ons in our previously Earthbound series

    ReplyDelete
  175. What's that famous punk v joe match? I've never seen an roh match before oddly enough.

    ReplyDelete
  176. No problem at all. It's my fault not yours.

    ReplyDelete
  177. TNA going to Destination America was like when CBS picked up Family Matters and Step by Step from ABC for one last season.

None of those shows deserved to exist in the first place, let alone be picked up for one final running-on-fumes season.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Worst_in_the_WorldMay 26, 2015 at 1:26 PM

    Wow, that's pretty dead on.

  179. Family Matters wasn't terrible at first, but they *really* jumped the shark with Urkel.

  180. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 26, 2015 at 1:27 PM

They need to have Murdock keep to his "no killing" thing for a while, if only because it will provide the perfect context for the eventual feud with Punisher

    ReplyDelete
  181. Worst_in_the_WorldMay 26, 2015 at 1:27 PM

Or like Scrubs doing a weird "interns" season on ABC

    ReplyDelete
  182. Even I agree with this.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Or diff'rnt strokes going to abc for that final year....

  184. It's crazy how much value there is with a Netflix subscription.

    ReplyDelete
  185. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 26, 2015 at 1:28 PM

Yeah. You can find them on youtube last I checked. They're pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  186. I've read loads of comments on here from people saying that so-and-so would be better off staying in NXT and not being called up to the main roster.

    ReplyDelete
  187. I think we're doing an OK job not giving away clearly the bigger shit that happens in the last few eps

    ReplyDelete
  188. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 26, 2015 at 1:29 PM

Yes. And it works against the WWE Network for me. It's not that I can't afford the $10/month. It's that I can't justify the difference when Netflix (and ALL you get with that) is actually cheaper.

    ReplyDelete
  189. I'm surprised there's not a porn parody called Diff'rent Strokes. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if there is.

    ReplyDelete
  190. I remember a few years ago when they bumped it from $7.99 or something to $10.99 or whatever it is and people online were losing their minds.

Like what the fuck, it's still not the most stunning bargain after at eleven bucks?!

    ReplyDelete
  191. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 26, 2015 at 1:29 PM

Yeah, you guys haven't spoiled anything. I'm on Ep. 9 now and nothing has been ruined

    ReplyDelete
  192. I'm interested to see how long the Marvel train lasts. I've seen all the movies and even I was a bit put off by Avengers 2 bringing up things I didn't have a clue about (didn't Tony give up being Iron Man at the end of Iron Man 3? Why did Thor leave to go take a bath halfway through the film? When did Black Widow fall for Bruce Banner?)

At some point the franchise is going to become so bloated and self-referential it's going to turn off new fans.... just like comic books themselves, in fact.

Plus, the actors aren't going to want to do them forever, and there's always the danger that the replacements don't win over audiences.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Was the skinny fat ass line a slip up? I hope so bc if not it was just really stupid

    ReplyDelete
  194. Netflix keeps churning out very good to great original series plus a collection of TV shows and movies that is really unmatched. The WWE Network doesn't have any original series' that draw my interest and I've seen nearly all of the older PPVs on there. Couple that with the below average current product and there's really no reason to keep a WWE Network subscription.
