Hogan and the Brain

I think the argument could be made that Hogan's greatest feud was against Heenan and not any one particular wrestler.  What one moment or match would you think would be the peak of that feud?  Do you think Hogan had a greater opponent in hindsight?

Anyone else humming "Hogan and the Brain, Hogan and the Brain, one is a genius and the other's insane" right now?

Obviously the feud peaked with Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania, which was Bobby putting all his chips on the one number and swinging for the fences or whatever other mixed metaphor you want.  And then his best shot lost and that was pretty much it for his serious challenges to Hulkamania.

I still do think that Randy Savage was Hogan's greatest opponent, though, because he actually outsmarted Hogan for a time by becoming his friend and using Hogan like a secret weapon to win the World title before going crazy and losing it back to him again.

  1. I'm not saying Jack Swagger is any sort of future Ric Flair or anything, but he is better than how they book him.

They either push him hard with no credibility or they make him a low card jobber.

  2. Jack Swagger is the resident flag-waving patriot. This is easy, easy wrestling booking. He'd do alright in Japan if he wanted to go that way.

  3. I'm all for Ryder being down in NXT to improve/get momentum/ whatever they think he needs since they continue to keep him under contract. However Hype Bros is a terrible name.

  4. Too bad. Swagger vs. Rusev was one of the best midcard feuds in years.

  5. Do any of you think the recent pushing of Owens to the top has done zilch to already bad morale? One could even argue that Reigns, who was hugely over before he went out on injury, was done no favors by this writing team/Vince.

  6. It had a lot more going for it than the #MYTHROATISHOARSEFROMCENAWINNING that we got. Rusev and Swagger could have done the exact feud Cena did, but with the addition of Dutch and oh yeah a new Hacksaw.

  7. Really the guy only dusted off when they need someone to hold a flag and tap to Rusev has a morale issue?

Why does something like this happen? He isn't the best but he is a solid worker and a big guy if they don't want to do something with him send him down to NXT to add a name to their main event picture and work with the young guys. With NXT there is no excuse for WWE to have guys like Swagger and Ryder sitting around doing nothing.

  8. I honestly think Owens wasn't supposed to get over to this degree but he helped his own cause with good matches, promos and presence.

  9. Don't blame Jack Swagger for leaving.

  10. There was something definitely endearing to it beyond the patriotism angle. Lana and Dutch did good character work and the two were big hosses who had spirited brawls. The simplicity of it was refreshing.

  11. 3,000 words on Jack Swagger were always the best (worst) part of the Andy PG Experience.

  12. He and Cesaro were getting over too. And as soon as that started happening they broke them up, didn't actually have a break up feud and then when the Rusev stuff started happening, they stole the story and gave it to Cena.

  13. Swagger is a competent but boring worker. Nobody would buy him against guys like Owens, Balor, Joe, etc.

  14. Vietnam veteran Dutch also has a lot of credibility when talking about America and defending your country. Cena is a guy in jean shorts.

  15. What are their plans for Cesaro now that Kidd is out? A singles push would be nice, but they can do worse than a Real Americans reunion with Cesaro and Swagger as faces this time.

  16. They're gonna catch shit either way. If they push Owens right to the top and he catches fire, the guys who were "in line ahead" of him are gonna be pissed. If they don't push him right to the top even though he's catching fire, Owens is gonna be pissed and dorks like all of us will complain about how they aren't using him right and they don't know what they have in him and why are they wasting him and so on.

  17. WWE has had it out for Swagger ever since he got popped for weed and "ruined" that horrible Glenn Beck "angle."
