Netflix Viewing Habits

Hi Scott!

Hope you are having a nice start to the week
.

Thought this might make a good blog topic, since I think most of us are on Netflix. I'm trying to figure out how my movie watching habits compare to others. According to Netflix, I've watched/rated 3,919 titles. I'm trying to gauge whether this is a lot, a little, or average. Where are you other bloggers in there?

You must have way more time than me.  My daughter pretty much burns through content on Netflix, which really messes up my profile if she's watching on a device that doesn't have the separate family ones.  Netflix thinks I REALLY love Barbie: Life In The Dream House and Strawberry Shortcake as a result.

Most of my current playlist would be Sons of Anarchy (still waiting to start season 7 because my wife was a bit upset by the ending of 6) and Orange is the New Black season 3, which we just finished marathoning this week.  HE'S THE FUCKING WARDEN.

Comments

  1. Season 7 of SOA isn't exactly required viewing. It ends like it should. 'nuff said.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Um....yeah, still watch it Scott. I found it no where near as disappointing as the others have.

    ReplyDelete
  3. FALSE.
    Season 7 is required viewing.

    ReplyDelete
  4. One of the worst things I ever did to my Netflix queue was watch that god-awful Chrismas movie with The Miz.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Season 7 is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I told you that season 6 finale would wreck you. To this day I cannot get the sound of that meat fork out of my head.

TV deaths, for me it ranks as the most vicious. I am FAR from ever disturbed by most things, but that seen is one I've never been able to rewatch.

And Scott, what did you think of Clay getting got? For me I was so mixed. I liked how they were making him out to be reformed, but then I remembered all the bad shit he did. It's like a buddy said "sometimes you do so much bad shit that you have no choice but to accept what's coming". I will say they did a good job of that, and Clay's acceptance seemed to be his ultimate redemption. Even going as far as telling them what to do.

    ReplyDelete
  7. So yeah, how do most of you netflix. Binge watch shows or what? I kind of act like I'm running my own tv station and dedicate certain nights to certain shows/themes.

    ReplyDelete
  8. The main gripe I always hear "It was too slow".

Name ONE season of sons that wasn't slow? Each season seamed to be a slow build until the final 2-3 episodes. And frankly, I was always okay with that. I never wanted to see another show suffer the nip/tuck fate of "we'll throw everything we have right away, but then have jack shit down the road".

    ReplyDelete
  9. It depends on time. I go to sitcoms for background noise or 30 minute watching, binge watch shows I'm invested in, and try to watch a movie or doc I haven't seen on the weekend

    ReplyDelete
  10. So I've been taking the lady through Daredevil and we finished up last night; her hand was over her mouth the whole time during the infamous car door scene, it was awesome

    ReplyDelete
  11. ly terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yeah fuck that. Season 7 was incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I tend to do movies/docs on weekends too. I'm probably one of the few who doesn't binge watch just one show at once. For me I like variety. I do tend to keep it to just one serial drama at a time though.

    ReplyDelete
  14. WTF @ whoever wrote this email. Do you have a job? Or...anything? That's over 150 FULL DAYS.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I have no idea what ly means, but terrible?

Not as good as other seasons? Sure. Terrible? Note even close.

4 is probably my all time favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It had to have been Tatr or Marv

    ReplyDelete
  17. I wish Opie wouldn't have missed that fucker's heart, but I can see why it was a better narrative choice to have him survive and build up into the ultimate heel for the show like he was. But I mean, given the way everything went down, he had no further use with the Sons and the character had no further use to the show, so it was time to go.

Seriously though, Jax is all "I'm gonna get us out of guns and murder, just as soon as I straight up murder all these fuckers with guns". Pretty clear who which father figure was REALLY the biggest influence on him.

    ReplyDelete
  18. He was finishing the previous post

    "Season 7 is awesome-ly terrible"

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anyone know when Longmire stars on Netflix?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Their stand-up selection is top-notch

    ReplyDelete
  21. I've already burned through the stuff I was dying to watch, and all the stand-up comedy shows I was interested in as background noise. I'm now at that point where I usually scroll through my list, or skim the trending/suggestion lists, just to find something to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nip/Tuck was great.... for like 3 seasons

    ReplyDelete
  23. Stranger In The AlpsJune 29, 2015 at 9:11 PM

I work for a living. Baseball is in season. Who has time to binge watch anything. I watch MAYBE one movie a week (shout out to my b-movie reviews over at bmoviememories.blogspot.com (too cheap to buy a domain)). I have checked out a few stand-up comedy shows and FUCK Orange is the New Black because of the hateful main character.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well, one is essentially nothing more than a character in a book. The other actually raised him.

    ReplyDelete
  25. FUCK baseball because FUCK baseball.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I will bingewatch a show whether it is Orange for a couple days or a show I have never seen like Burn Notice over 3 months.

If it's a movie, I will watch it during weekends or vacations.

There will also be a few shows or movies that I have seen a lot of times that will help me fall asleep in 5-15 minutes like Leverage or the longest yard.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I can relate Scott, my 2 year old is also into those damn My Little Ponies.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I enjoyed the character flashbacks in S3 of Orange, but I kind of felt it was a bit disappointing overall compared to S2. Loved the Rosa cameo in the Capudo flashback though!

    ReplyDelete
  29. She has gotten less and less screen time especially in the 3rd season.

    ReplyDelete
  30. It would be cool if they did a prequel showing the rise of clay and John actually.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Agreed. Season 3 was maybe a 6 out of 10. Season 2 was a 9 out of 10 and the Vee storyline was a 10. I was so glad how she ended up.

I really liked seeing Pennsatucky's, Chang's and Caputo's flashbacks and they made me feel a lot more for these 3 characters.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It just got so redundant. They recycle the whole "jax wants to clean up the club and leave" storyline over and over.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I honestly wonder how many of the blog regulars actually have jobs. There's no way some of you dude's work with the amount of time you spend on here.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Too many times with Netflix, I have gone through the screen 2-3 times and have said "Nope I don't want to see any of those."

    ReplyDelete
  35. I've had Netflix for a couple of years.

I've watched all 9 seasons of TPB, 3 comedy specials, and 2 movies.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have summers off due to being a teacher

    ReplyDelete
  37. Also 7 eps of Daredevil, I almost forgot.

    ReplyDelete
  38. And that's the entire arc of 7, basically

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have watched 4 movies...2 comedy specials...and episodes of TV shows here and there.

I *really* want to finish DareDevil.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah, the character work was really good. Chang's appraisal of how terrible Healey is at his job was well played from both, and moments like that make the people seem more real and not so wacky character of the week.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wait this doesn't pay? Been checking the mailbox firman check.

If you work on a computer all day it's easy enough to keep a screen open and chat. Not saying it's productive but doable.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's been rumored and with the way Sutter only ever tweets about SoA rather than Southpaw or The Bastard Executioner it's clear he regrets leaving that world behind

    ReplyDelete
  43. I would like to see Healey's backstory. What made him marry a Russian woman off the internet? What made him want to work at that prison?
With Caputo you got some insight on how shitty his life really is.

Also, I am not surprised Bennett left because he got a better role with How to get away with murder.

    ReplyDelete
  44. 6,7,4,5,2,1,3 BUT the season 3 finale is the greatest episode of any show ever

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'll have to take your word for it, but I don't know anyone who's productive that has that kind of time. I work on the computer a lot too but I'm working on the computer not bitching about Roman Reigns. I don't mean that as a shot, it just legitimately baffles me.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Grade/subject?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wife and I watched almost all six seasons of Parks, The Fall (which is fucking awesome, btw) and I've watched a few docs here and there but that's about it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Middle School History and occasionally AVID elective

    ReplyDelete
  49. Don't underestimate the downtime with office jobs, especially government ones like myself. That being said, with some people here, I don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I've never been able to rewatch what happened to Opie. Never.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Middle schoolers are the worst. You have my utmost respect.

    ReplyDelete
  52. In April I was rocking HBO, Hulu, Netflix Amazon and the WWE NETWORK.

Now I'm just watching wwe and Amazon (since that's paid a year in advance). Trying to save monies while i move.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Vader and Ray Traylor had some weird good chemistry together.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I kept trying to rationalize it. I told my wife "Uhh....maybe he was in a bike accident we haven't learned about yet and has a metal plate in his skull".

    ReplyDelete
  55. Many of us come on from our desks.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Many of you should be fired lol

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have the perfect teaching style for middle school. Elementary kids are too needy. Plus there is too many preps and there are some kids I cant stand for 1 hour let alone all day.

I might try high school later on. However, when I student taught 10th grade, the kids were downright horrible. I was sworn at more times in 6 months of high school than 11 years of middle school.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Nah. I've never known anyone that didn't kill some time on their computer at work.

The guy next to me books rounds of golf and looks at golf apparel constantly.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Baseball is the greatest sport ever. It's a thinking mans game.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I caught one of my staff on Facebook ONCE and suspended her without pay. You guys are lucky.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I had a government temp job for 2 months about 15 years ago. If that was private sector job, I could cut out half the workers and not let it affect productivity. Half the time, the workers were focused on talking on the phone or with their friends or planning a wedding or showing their baby pictures and the bosses did nothing to stop them because you couldn't fire them.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The main office secretaries are so bad at my work. They are constantly shopping or on their phones even when parents are there. Then they ask for overtime because they couldn't get their work done.

They can do this because they know they can't get fired.

    ReplyDelete
  63. To be fair, I've rated a ton of crap I've seen, well before Netflix was a thing, but since I've seen the movies, I rated them. (No I'm not the emailer by the way).

    ReplyDelete
  64. I have hulu for local channels, Netflix for movies and tv, and amazon prime for hbo and shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh yeah, I don't work at that kind of job.

I nail all of my targets, I'm well liked and respected, and I can be 100% counted on. If I want to take a mental break every so often, it's very unlikely that anyone will fault me for that.

I could take up smoking, I guess, but I just check the blog.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yep. There's even a real poignant scene in which Opie is talking to Clay. Clay is going on about Jax's stubbornness and Opie goes "reminds me of his old man" to which Clay says "John could be stubborn" and Opie says "I meant you".

Maybe not so much in later seasons, but in early ones no character really ever made the distinction or whatever you want to say between father and step father.

One of the biggest stories of that show. That ultimately blood doesn't influence us as much as environment.

Of course all that said, John was never a saint himself. It wasn't until the later years where he had his epiphany.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I respect the fuck out of the guy. Basically working non stop since being a writer/co-producer on the shield. Even with sons he put literally 100% of himself into that show.

And speaking of the shield, there's your next show to check out Scott.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I feel Ray was a bit underrated actually.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Amazing really.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Oh yeah. Greatest twist ever.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Here's a lesson. When you are into bad things and want to get out, roadblocks get in the way. So thus you have to start over and over again. The sad thing is how it ultimately ends though. Not giving Scott spoilers, but it's ultimately why I liked season 7.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yeah that was some deep shit when JT revealed that in his memoir.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm not a Gyllenhaal fan, but a movie written by Sutter and helmed by my favorite director has me super stoked.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Marvgaret HoulihanJune 29, 2015 at 10:15 PM

    It's so easy, tabs.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Finally started Daredevil tonight. The new binge begins!

    ReplyDelete
  76. YES! YES! YES! Scott's starting to watch good tv.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I work as a video coordinator/athletic video producer for D3 school and the head coach doesn't care what I do as long as everything gets up in a timely manner. Before anyone asks I'm in charge of all video that our staff watches, practice, our games and opponent tape.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I need to do Hulu, I've really cut back my WWE watching and all I watched on Hulu mainly was the two hour Raws and Main Event.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I have all of those on my XBOX and PS3. Each one has a nice use for me, along with MLB TV

    ReplyDelete
  80. After Ep 1, you'll be like "yeah, this looks pretty good, I'll keep watching"

After Ep 2 you'll be "OMG THIS IS AWESOME I CANT STOP WATCHING"

    ReplyDelete
  81. That agent getting popped at the end made up for the shitty Ireland stuff.

    "This is what she felt."
    BLAMMITYBLAMMITY
    *0.9 Muta*

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'd say it was all downhill after the Carver stuff, but up to that point, fuck yeah it was great

    ReplyDelete
  83. I'm going through 1996 wwf right now in the network after reading Scott's reviews on the blog. Currently in mid April. I've only got that and hulu. Planning on starting Seinfeld soon.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Oh yeah, and I've got njpw world too but barely have time to watch it with our baby. Thinking about canceling it, but each time I do, I think of all the Stan Hansen matches I could be watching.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I went though episodes 3-11 in a day and burnt myself out so much I haven't been back to finish it.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yeah, I don't understand it either. I feel like I post here all the time and have been for years but I probably have 1/20th the amount of posts as some here.

    ReplyDelete
  87. The trouble with most of the S3 flashbacks is that they just hit the same points over and over against. Caputo's backstory was so over-the-top sadsack that it almost became funny.

    ReplyDelete
  88. It's also almost as boring to watch as golf. Never acquired a taste for either.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I said, "holy shit" out loud to myself while watching it alone.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Co-signed. Just a fantastic show. So much darker than Marvel's cinema stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  91. MLB TV may be the greatest thing ever.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Babies love wrestling. Watch it with baby whilst they're feeding etc

    ReplyDelete
  93. Daredevil is a great show, worth watching

    ReplyDelete
  94. Student here. Sometimes that means 12 hour days, sometimes that means 0 hour days.

    ReplyDelete
  95. The complete opposite of the ill intent.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yep. I usually have a game on at some point every day

    ReplyDelete
  97. That must have been good for morale

    ReplyDelete
  98. Student here, can confirm this is my life.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I got through big spurts on Netflix.
    I've banged through:
    Breaking bad
    Community
    Arrested development
    Welcome to the NHK.
1/2 to 2/3rds of Hunter X Hunter (gonna pick it up again someday)
    Futurama
I'm through the first 4 seasons of Mash

There are lots of others but those are the one's off the top of my head.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I'm signing up for njpw world tommorow.

Dominion on July 5th and then the start of the G-1

    ReplyDelete
  101. If you want a great show on Netflix watch the league. It's hysttical . Highest remendation

    ReplyDelete
  102. Agreed. We must be Eskimo brothers. I hate that this upcoming season is the last.

    ReplyDelete
  103. It hasn't happened again, so I got my point across. At my job simple things like that can cause big problems.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yeah, I'm pretty excited for Okada/Styles at Dominion, which is a big part of why I've kept my subscription.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Netflix kept throwing that at me and I finally caved and watched it.

Absolutely fell in love with it straight away.

    Zombie Branch was awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Parks is awesome. The first season was meh, and a lot of people stopped watching after that. Those people missed out.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Okada vs AJ and Kushida vs Omega make it an easy buy.

    Everything else is gravy

    ReplyDelete
  108. I can't believe A&E got rid of it and The Glades

    ReplyDelete
  109. Stop spamming. Idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I still want a crossover of League and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia just to decide which group is the worst.

    ReplyDelete
  111. good one. Not sure how many seasons it has, but I know I kinda lost interest in the latest on Netflix (4 or 5) but the first 3 or 4 were fantastic. and the wife is a total MILF

    ReplyDelete
  112. Louie! If you haven't watched Louie, what are you waiting for?

    ReplyDelete
  113. ✣☯✤✥☯❋ . if you, thought Gloria `s posting is surprising...♛♛♛♛ I just got a gorgeous volvo when I got my check for $4854 this-last/4 weeks and a little over ten thousand last-month . it's realy my favourite job I have ever had ✯✯✯✯. I began this 9-months ago and straight away began to bring home at least $69, per-hour .

    ReplyDelete
