Update on Potential WWE/WWN Relationship
It has been reported that the WWE is indeed getting serious about making a deal with WWN. The word is that the WWE is looking to make a low six-figure investment in WWN to help them run more shows and sign more talents. The WWE would presumably have access to the talent they want without worrying about them already appearing on National TV or having signed away their licensing.

Dolph Ziggler Contract Update
Ziggler was reported to have received a new contract offer a few weeks ago but did not sign, opening up a lot of speculation. The belief is he will still re-sign.

WWE High on Independent Talent
It has been reported that the WWE is very high on Rich Swann and will likely offer him a Developmental Deal in September. It was also reported that the WWE is expected to offer more Developmental Deals after SummerSlam as they want more talent to report to NXT in the Fall.

ReplyDeleteReddit seems to be imploding. This makes me happy.

Like I said yesterday, I'm most interested to see what type of reaction Ziggler will get tomorrow morning 'cause if he does leave, Japan would be the best place for Ziggler to reinvent himself.
ReplyDeleteSome lady who was running the Ask Me Anything section of the site was fired, and a bunch of the other mods are pissed off enough to have shut down several other major sub-reddits

ReplyDeleteI saw a couple of my UK expat friends a couple of days ago for Canada Day, and his parents were in town. They were talking about the heatwave and how happy they were to be here right now. Outside of a couple of isolated days we've had a cool summer so far.
ReplyDeleteIt's the wrestling network that includes Evolve, DGUSA and I think Shimmer.
ReplyDeleteI thought about that too. But if TNA is not even an afterthought in WWE land, then it shouldn't matter. Ha, I can't believe I posted this...
ReplyDeleteI went to that site once. It was scary and difficult to understand.
ReplyDeleteIt's not toooooo bad here now, doesn't look like it's gonna get any higher than 25 for a while. Wednesday was just ridiculous though. 34 degrees. FFS.

ReplyDeleteNever mind I read it below.
ReplyDeleteIs there going to be a live thread for the Japan show? Will anyone be conscious for the live showing?
ReplyDeleteI will be awake and talking about it in whatever thread their is.
ReplyDeleteWas this a shoot or a botch?
ReplyDeleteThey couldn't care less about the ratings for Raw or Smack down, because if they did care, they'd at least try to make the product better

ReplyDeleteReally cool pics of the Nintendo/Sony PlayStation prototype
I've seen a few funny memes and pictures in it so far. I'm also not sure why everyone is surprised either.
ReplyDeleteDolph is the kind of guy that would retweet Eric Bischoff in 1996 and not understand why this is a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteIf this guy gets it then it's such a shame he didn't keep it all to himself.
ReplyDeleteWWE wants to make sure that all potential independent contractors don't do anything independently before being signed to a WWE contract.
ReplyDeleteThey want to control the independent scene in a way. Make sure talents do not go to places with TV, almost scaring them of sorts by saying they will not sign them in the future. Not a good thing for U.S. wrestling.
ReplyDeleteThis didn't go unappreciated.
ReplyDeleteHe is the King of the Mountain after all.
ReplyDeleteWWF's most profitable period was when they had a strong WCW and a strongish ECW behind them, but I guess it's hard to take lessons from that when you're running a business and don't like competition

ReplyDeleteGREATEST SHOW EVER!
It's 1984 all over again, only this time the WWE is killing the independent scene.
ReplyDeleteUm..
ReplyDeleteIt seems like Vince doesn't know how to stop competing--even when the competition is gone. Look at all the younger talent they've swept up over the last several years, and all the older talent they refuse to let go of. Vince is a hoarser.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! Victoria. Noodlemantra totally getting laid this weekend.

ReplyDeleteNow with 100% more Beulah intro.
Is there a Suplex City: Tokyo shirt yet?
ReplyDeleteJericho's podcast with Nattie and Tyson is pretty good. The whole Dynamite broke Bruce's jaw the day before Owen's wedding and them all having to take a wedding picture after it story is great.
ReplyDeleteIt was a while ago that I first read about this story but I think the idea would be WWN wrestlers working on Network shows. But, I might be remembering incorrectly.
ReplyDeleteSomebody's taking this entire discussion point way too seriously.
ReplyDeleteThis conference call is hilarious. It's devolved into managers calling out employees BY NAME (who are not on the call) for abuse of leave and potential firings.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good day.
ABUSE OF POWER! FIRE ME? I'M ALREADY FIRED!
ReplyDelete(elbow drops pink slip, strips to underwear)
July 4 is on a Saturday, so July 3rd was declared a skeleton crew day and offices across the state need to keep a minimum of staff instead of full staff. Well people who asked for time off and didn't get it are calling in "sick" and production is screwed today.
ReplyDeleteNah, coke was super expensive in the 80s, hence it's status as the "rich people drug." Crack reaaaaaaallly cheapened its value, which is why it stopped being so glamorous in the 90s and folks moved onto to other stuff.
ReplyDeleteAKA "American Modern Workforce 101"
ReplyDeleteThey might as well have closed the offices instead.
And now the call lead is trying to throw out positivity tropes like "we have a long road to haul today but working as a team we can get it done" and "we're on the right track with this communication".
ReplyDeleteJust three minutes before managers were bitching about their staff.
WORKED SHOOT
ReplyDeleteWe have to send a guardian back to 1984 to protect the independent scene.
ReplyDeleteDon't you work for the government? How much was really going to get done today anyhow?
ReplyDeleteBut Arnold LOVES WWE... I wonder how Robert Patrick feels about pro wrestling?
ReplyDeleteYes, and I don't really know. Now that I'm considered part of management, I can see how employees might abuse their leave.
ReplyDeleteMeh. I just do reports and monitor phone calls. makes my job easier if nobody is here.
So are you the guy checking to see which of the employees is commenting on blogs during company time?
ReplyDeleteThey need more commercials featuring big Steph. That will work
ReplyDeleteYes. And there is only one right now.
ReplyDeleteBust him!
ReplyDeleteSomeone was asking if WWE was selling the Suplex City: Japan shirt yet. They are selling it, and it's on sale for $17.76.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wwn?
ReplyDeleteYeah, keep in mind that Shane returning is more interesting in theory than it is in practice. Everyone was excited for Shane's return in early 2009 to feud with Orton....only to have Orton's killer push derailed by having a 50-50 rivalry with the boss' son.
ReplyDeleteUgh, holidays. I have to work tomorrow on the actual holiday, and because everyone else in the world gets like the next four days off, I can't get any shit done today.Plus I've been watching my son pretty much every day for the past two weeks, so I'm out of ideas of things to occupy him. Gonna be a long day.
ReplyDeleteImpact drew a total of 318,00 viewers Wednesday. RoH drew a total of 238,000.

ReplyDeleteHoly macaronie. A 28% drop for the big World Title match show. Get in the sea TNA you're done.
ReplyDeleteBad week for Wrestling TV show ratings
ReplyDeleteSo for all the talk about low numbers, WWE still drew about three times as many viewers as all their competition combined (as I'm assuming LU didn't fare much better). So there's that, I guess.
ReplyDeleteGet in the sea?
ReplyDeleteTyson Kidd needs to lay off the painkillers
ReplyDeleteSpending part of thr holiday weekend in Atlantic City and apparently half of NJ had the same idea. It kinda sucks when people are here
ReplyDeleteNot really. They just want to secure the feeder lines to their developmental department and main roster so as to prevent other uninvolved entities from profiting off of the work the WWE does with individual talents. Indy talents can still make money, roughly, however they want. This is merely to prevent future instances of coincidence that led to Kevin Owens becoming a major main roster star at a time when a toy company was producing a Kevin Steen figure.
ReplyDeleteit's where rubbish goes: https://www.facebook.com/getinthesea
ReplyDeleteThis is the best comment.
ReplyDeleteThere will always be an independent scene. Always.
ReplyDelete"Look at all the younger talent they've swept up over the last several years..."
ReplyDeleteSo... You'd prefer if NXT didn't exist and Raw was three hours of Mark Henry vs. Kane?
Sometimes I just look at this image from WCW Magazine April 2001 and just wonder. I just wonder away.
ReplyDeletehttps://ringthedamnbell.files.wordpress.com/2015/04/wcw-big-bang.jpg
Watching Tough Enough for the first time this season....is it still a show about wrestling?
ReplyDeleteWow,they even pinpointed the exact date when the universe was formed! The place must have been secretly run by Stephen fucking Hawking.
ReplyDeleteWho cares,the chicks are hot.
ReplyDeleteNo. Half the main roster should have been released by now, replaced by people stuck in NXT.
ReplyDeletehaha...that's been the basis for every reality show since the first Survivor.

WTF?????
ReplyDeleteFuck you and the spam you rode in on.
ReplyDeleteShit no.

ReplyDeletePoor guy must be suffering from some mental trauma.
This is crud. It belongs in Crud Town!
ReplyDeleteYeah, like how the NWA is like today.
ReplyDeleteIt will change when Vince dies or the ratings get REALLY low. Not a moment sooner.
ReplyDeleteThere's a reason why that show's situated in the tropics as opposed to Antarctica.
ReplyDeleteGo to fucking hell.
ReplyDeleteWell, the question wasn't posed as a joke and neither was the answer provided. So I'm not really sure where you got the impression that the "discussion point" wasn't supposed to be taken seriously. Or perhaps you just have an odd sense of humour and find accusing people of being coke addicts inherently amusing or something.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first day in forever that I have absolutely nothing to do. Spent the morning cleaning up cause the realtor is coming at noon.
ReplyDeleteActually I agree that DBry is probably the biggest missed opportunity due to injury since TA. The rest...well the rest I didn't understand
ReplyDeleteSo, I'm assuming by the time you factor in people watching ROH on local Sinclair stations, it's almost certainly getting more viewers than TNA?
ReplyDeleteHad no idea that Evolve & DGUSA had a parent group and that it was called WWN
ReplyDeleteTanahashi vs Shibata on NJPW tonight. Definitely worth watching.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, the whole swank suit with loafers and no socks really bugs me.
ReplyDeleteI get the Power Rangers and Star Wars references but what is Tyson going on about with the cypher.
ReplyDeleteMy coworkers are headed to the poutinerie for lunch and I'm taking some flack for having never tried it before. I may get some.
ReplyDeleteTerminator: Genisys was a lot of fun. Dumb fun, but still fun. A solid 5 or 6/10.

ReplyDeleteIn her vagina.
Because I'm saying I want to have sex with her.
Bang Bang!
ReplyDeleteIt cracks me up that at a time when the main show is dying, they leave so much talent down in NXT. Balor is ready to go up. Sasha Banks and Charlotte are ready to go up. It's utter madness.

ReplyDeleteNothing quite as exciting as getting an eye infection on 4th of July weekend!! WOO HOO!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy are you doing that?
ReplyDeleteYou want to smell like hemp?
I'm selling my iphone that I bought off ebay two years ago and the guy wants to take it to be checked to make sure it's not stolen. If it was stolen I wouldn't have been able to use it, right?
ReplyDeleteYes
ReplyDeleteI'm getting skin reactions. Not really excited to see what this will cost.

You can wipe the phone clean without the apple cloud user ID password being put in by the previous owner, so that must have been done for you to put yours in. But if wants to meet you at an Apple Store to verify that it shouldn't be a problem there. If he wants to do anything else, fuck that guy. Honestly you can trade it in at the Apple Store for credit, it's less money but less hassle.
ReplyDeleteOr I always sell mine to the guy at the mall that puts the protective screens on electronics.
ReplyDeleteNew Day doing some tremendous promo work for the Kofi/Brock match: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMjFdNTaKJo
ReplyDeleteWhen I bought it it came reset to factory settings, I just picked up a SIM card, called to have my service switched to that card and that was that. I don't remember if I ever gave the ESN for the phone. This guy just wants to meet at Best Buy to check the wifi and make sure it's not stolen. I'm not expecting any problem but not knowing for sure where it came from I don't want to show up there and find out I had a stolen phone.
ReplyDelete"We comin' for you Brock!"
ReplyDeleteDefinite Booker T reference.
ReplyDeleteFantastic.
ReplyDeleteWell, are you talking territories or indies? They're not the same.
ReplyDeleteSome good heelin' in WWE right now.
ReplyDeleteI think my plan is just staying up to watch the Japan show instead of waking up that early. We'll see how it goes!
ReplyDeleteI hope there is some way they can build Big E up. He is good enough to deserve at least a glance at the top of the card.
ReplyDeleteI'm making an analogy. In 1984 the WWF was targeting the territories. Today the WWE is targeting the independents. Yes there are differences between now and then but I can't help but see the similarities between the two periods.
ReplyDeleteTwo years ago he had that IC title run and it was thought he was getting a push and then that quickly fizzled out.
ReplyDeleteGotta work till 5. At least I get two weeks off for a winter break though.
ReplyDeleteNew Day has, however unintentionally, been an excellent thing for all three guys.
ReplyDeleteOff to watch opera on a big screen at Wollaton Hall, where they filmed Wayne Manor in The Dark Knight
ReplyDeleteOh shit, NXT is running the Barclays Center! Isn't that a legit arena?
ReplyDeleteI'm mentioned on her before that I have a kinda black market off license I use, that runs itself almost like a drug dealer.
ReplyDeleteToday's visit was insane, it's about 20 minutes away from my apartment, so normally I go in, they give me an idea of any new stock, I give me order in and they deliver it later that night, in unmarked bags by a guy riding a bicycle.
Not today, today after I order 3 cases of bottles, not the 4 packs you get from the supermarket, but full on cases that are delivered to pubs, they give the three cases to a helper and tell him to carry them and follow me home to deliver them.
On route he told me his story, he ran up a tab with them and to help pay it off, he works fetching and carrying for them, in return his debt goes down slightly, they give him free food and if he does a good job they'll give him some presents like more booze or cigs.
Yeah, probably a 20K seat arena (It's where the Nets play).
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be super interesting to see how well they draw. That card is going to be PACKED.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they bring in some special guests to help draw.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Summerslam there?

If you can get in.
And I can't get in :(
Yep, a week after the NXT show.
ReplyDeleteFor once the Brits have an advantage assuming they show it live (7.30pm Toyko time).
ReplyDeleteJust read about it. It's a proper live Takeover special the night before Summerslam. That really is something!
ReplyDeleteWill probably be better than Summerslam.
ReplyDeleteTake a nap in the evening. You'll get up and can stay awake all night.
ReplyDeleteThis makes more sense then the email
ReplyDeleteMaybe they can get one of the nXt guys over by having someone kick his/her ass.
ReplyDeleteStop by a convenience store and get some of those things they sell by the register to help keep you awake. Those are definitely safe.
ReplyDeleteCan i cum on your pretty face
ReplyDeleteMy kid made me stop the video so he could predict that Kofi would come home with 200 broken bones.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else kind of not care if Dolph leaves?
ReplyDeleteAnd great for Rich Swann. A shame that WWE missed out on Ricochet. Such a solid team together
Contains non-snarky references to Kurt Angle AND CM Punk:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wwe.com/videos/playlists/5-things
I would like to see him leave. I get that there is security there, and if I were in his shoes, I don't know that I would leave either. But other guys have shown you can make a good living and do more of the side stuff when you get away from WWE.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
ReplyDeletePleased to read Ricochet made an appearance in New Japan this week.
ReplyDeleteVince as had a monopoly on wrestling for years, but this type of stuff is grounds for a lawsuit. Sadly, Jesse Ventura got paid and lives in Mexico, so there is no defender for these indies.
ReplyDeleteBut the guardian told Captian Kirk he was both machine and being and a time machine. He can't send himself back.
ReplyDeleteNever cared much for Swann, Ricochet is money written all over it.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see how he does elsewhere. I only ever saw him as an upper car talent anyway, so Im not really the guy who thinks he should have been way more
ReplyDeleteFuture wife just told me she spent $500 on paper bags and trinket gifts for the wedding party... could have killed her.
ReplyDeleteHEY! This is a rasslin' blog, we got no time for culture!
ReplyDeleteWhy couldnt Doc land the DeLorean at the end of Back to the Future Part II?
ReplyDeleteCause of the weather?
Never really got what was so hard about landing the Delorean. Slowly lower the car to the ground and switch it off from flying
mode.
Is Zayn close to returning? If so, I could see them having Owens retain in Tokyo to build the Zayn title win for the Barclays special
ReplyDeleteChances are your going to get angry like this many times.
ReplyDeleteHe isn't coming back until October at the earliest.
ReplyDeleteCurrently watching Bash 89. I like in the NWA days how the wrestlers would stay on the ramp for that little bit sn then walk to the ring with the smoke on the entrance ramp.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I get to watch Sid destroy Shane Douglas and Johnny Ace!

We had a talk just before she got her paycheck about how to divide that up... $500 into savings, $500 for household regulars and spending, and $500 into the wedding fund.
ReplyDeleteShe interpreted that as... do whatever and don't keep track.
I had to take a quick drive.
ReplyDelete"We'll find a good home for that money" - vulture landlords.
ReplyDeleteI want match replays to have a slo mo clip of the winner's entrance again
ReplyDeleteEven in 89 the fans went insane over Sid. Im guilty of it myself but I'm not exactly sure what makes people go batshit over him.
ReplyDeleteSwann is naturally charismatic
ReplyDeleteSid had an aura about him. Plus, he looked like the most intense guy on the planet
ReplyDeleteHe was special, especially in the more realistic Crockett Promotions.
ReplyDeletepeople mock the idea of the IT factor, but there s a reason why Sid, Hogan, Taker, etc got over so huge in the beginning of their careers when guys with similar build and skillsets simply didn't connect anywhere near as well.
ReplyDeleteI thought he was way scarier than Earthquake or Undertaker when I was 7 in 1990
ReplyDeleteI'm at a disadvantage in fantasy baseball this week because apparently I missed the memo that stated that I could stock my pitching staff with nothing but starters.
ReplyDeleteSid is why jobbers exist. Beat the hell out of a few jabronies, look menacing and deadly, and make money when the real names get put on the other side of the ring.
ReplyDeleteOh I see
ReplyDeleteMy team is hitting .171 and I am still tied this week. Springer going on the DL sucks.
ReplyDeleteThe stretcher jobs were money
ReplyDeleteI could run the gauntlet in offense but I don't have any base stealers.
ReplyDeleteI have power and good starting pitching.
ReplyDeleteSid was booked perfectly when a heel. Why Vince saw him as a new Hogan I can't say.
ReplyDeleteI have a more balanced attack, except when my pitching gets bombed. Which is often. That's why I traded for Bumgarner.
ReplyDelete
