WWE discontinuing certain PPVs

When the WWE decides to discontinue a PPV name/theme,(for example "Night Of Champions"), is the reason almost always financial, or are other factors involved as well?   They named a PPV "Stomping Grounds".  Who the hell knows what reasons they do anything for anymore?
