Batista Taking Time Off After Extreme Rules?
As of right now, Batista is not advertised for any WWE events after Extreme Rules so it appears that he will be taking time off. When he returned to the company, it was expected that he would have some time off in order to do some promotional work for his film "Guardians of the Galaxy" that opens this August.

But It was in Batista's contract that he was going to win the title at Wrestlemania!
ReplyDeleteRaw: I'll wait until tonight.
ReplyDeleteBatista: Surprised? Never.
WM31: Okay, I'll play along.
- Cena joins Wyatt: This has... NO CHANCE! NO CHANCE IN HELL!
- Reigns wins 2015 Rumble: Very possible.
- Split titles: Why?
- Steph after Divas title: No thanks.
- Colter: A little late for that, don't you think?
- Cody wins MITB: Strange pick, IMO.
- Cesaro/Lesnar: YES PLEASE.
- UT Retires: Yeah, this one's better than 50/50, IMO.
Re: Cena joining the Wyatts.
ReplyDeleteThere's a better chance of Cena reverting back to his rapper gimmick and recruiting the Wyatts into a 4 man white guy rap group than this.
Cena already beat Bray, why is this feud continuing again?
100% agree. Brays gotta go over but to either set up another feud or transition to maybe Cena recruiting some buddies and building to a 3 on 3 but...

John Cena Wins
You'll like it
I have explained it more than once, I won't bother explaining it again, I just give up.
ReplyDeleteInformative
ReplyDeleteBatista is taking time off. DEAL WITH IT.
ReplyDelete... and now he's six feet under.
ReplyDeleteThe explanation wasn't either. Just contrarianism.
ReplyDeleteOk, ok, you beat it out of me. One more time...
ReplyDeleteWyatt is still a thorn in Cena's side, and he has made it clear that he is not done with him. Plus, it was clear that Wyatt wasn't even trying to beat Cena at WM, he was more focused on playing mind games and "breaking" him, so the issue is simply not over yet. Cena wants to finish this once and for all, as he knows Wyatt is just gonna keep coming after him. Really not that complicated.
I thought this run WAS Batista doing promotional appearances for GOTG.
ReplyDeleteThe story I know is Jacques waiting just beyond a doorway, waiting until Dynamite walked through with two cups of coffee. He blasted him without any chance to defend himself... sounds like great lockerroom.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, that's some funny shit.
I hope Batista redoes a version of that promo after Cena beat him three straight times on PPV.
ReplyDelete"Plus, it was clear that Wyatt wasn't even trying to beat Cena at WM, he was more focused on playing mind games and "breaking" him..."
ReplyDeleteI never really got this vibe. Sure it was part of the feud but that's just Brays character. If this is the story they are going with, and I don't think it is but it's subjective, what's the end game for the cage match? Bray goes over...that's fine but why not just put Bray over at WM. It still would have been just as easy for Bray being a thorn in Cenas side
I liked fiery babyface Cody. Granted, that was relative to the whole Rhodes-Authority feud, and I'm not sure he could sustain that over time, but the whole "you forced me to fight my brother, you've tried time and time again to bury my father, and now I want revenge" bit was pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteGuy looks like a million bucks, can work in the ring, isn't bad on the mic, and has a sympathetic heat machine in his brother. Can't help but feel like they could've pushed him a bit harder there.
It just seemed that every time Wyatt had control, he just got on his knees and begged Cena to hit him with a chair while letting himself wide open. Doesn't sound like a guy trying his damndnest to win a match. Or his crab/spider position when Cena was coming off the ropes, against leaving himself wide open.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I kinda remember that. She gave somebody The Kick Of Death, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd Bray couldn't break him, no matter how hard he tried. Cena beats him then challenges him to a cage match, after coming out to interrupt Bray telling jokes. That is not behavior indicative that someone is a thorn in your side and the cage match stipnis ridiculous, especially since Rowan & Harper did not even attack Cena after the win.
ReplyDeleteCody is a hard worker and incredibly handsome. He should be the corporate champion centerpiece of the new Evolution.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Bray cut a promo the week after WM saying that he will just have to try harder to break him? That would worry me, if I were Cena.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it just seems that for all the "WWE is too predictable" complaints, that there is a big fuss when they actually try to go a unique route. Besides, isn't the winner of a feud usually the guy who wins the final match? If Wyatt won at WM, but Cena won the rematch, wouldn't that totally negate Bray's WM win? I just really don't see the big deal here. Wyatt will be just fine.
Great point. The post match stuff he did on Raw after WM came across as a promo someone would cut after going over in the payoff match of a feud. This isn't really unique to Cenas style but that doesn't mean it's good storytelling either.
ReplyDeleteHe will be fine, Cena will be also. It's still a pretty bad storyline imo
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying Wyatt will be buried or anything, I just think what they are trying to do in this feud since Cena won cleanly is idiotic.
ReplyDeleteThey can try to run, but they can never hide, cause the Mountie, ALWAYYYYYS GETS HIS MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
ReplyDeleteI guess it's just the usual over reaction of "X's career is permanently and irreparably ruined because he lost one match" thing. Makes me laugh every time. Wins and losses just do not matter *THAT* much.
ReplyDeleteIn that vein, Jose Gonzalez third?
ReplyDeleteWho is overreacting about Wyatt's career being ruined as a result of the feud?
ReplyDeleteSadly there are TONS on our indy wrestling scene here...most of them acting like big shots on Facebook, which may be worse than Dynamite even cause at least he had the guts to act (not that I agree with his actions, mind you...)
ReplyDeleteHis character was good in 1999-2000, haven't watched Bob Holly matches from then so don't know if it holds up though. And him vs. Angle where he broke his arm was a good match and THAT was when Holly should have had a brief world title program when he came back.
ReplyDeletelol, you haven't been on here much in the past 2 weeks, eh? Anyway, I just don't see anything that horrible about it, I guess we can agree to disagree, as they say.
ReplyDeleteOnce by an announcer!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your last sentence.
ReplyDeleteAbout the other thing, I didn't notice it much and it wasn't stated here today in this thread
Ah yes, I now call it the CM Punk backstage promo. "Wah wahh wahh, I QUUIITTT!!!"
ReplyDeleteThread jack:
ReplyDeleteI just recapping the first disc of the Scotty Riggs shoot. If you like hearing stories about guys banging chicks, this is the shoot for you. Highly entertaining.
The 2 Semi Finals matches tonight should be good. And Sheamus better still be selling that injured leg from last week.
ReplyDeleteI would expect nothing less from an American Male.
ReplyDeletebanging chics stories >>> fecal matter stories.
Riggs told a fart story that was pretty funny but no shot stories yet.
ReplyDeleteHis sex stories are great and the interviewer keeps asking him to tell more, which was a bit creepy but even still, it was entertaining as fuck
The interviewer didn't go off to the corner when asking Riggs to tell him more did he?
ReplyDeleteIn that case there's no need to get Jacques out of there particularly quickly.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm hating on myself?
ReplyDeleteLOL. I think the interviewer was a virgin but he definitely had some sexual issues.
ReplyDeleteAt one point, he asked Riggs if he ever saw Col. Parker's cock (which is legendary for being huge) and if anyone else in the locker room compared to size wise. Riggs, who looked a bit creeped out, told him checking out other guy's dicks wasn't his game
Like everything else in wrestling?
ReplyDeleteYeah, but I got internet fans to white knight for me and tell me i was justified in my decision.
ReplyDeleteSilly smarks, don't they know I hate them?!?!
Reminds me of a quote from Foley's first book. "Now I'm no Pecker-Checker, but..."
ReplyDeleteFun fact: I upvoted this before even reading it. And I might do the same for all future posts.
ReplyDeleteCENA
ReplyDeleteWINS
LOL
I think it was the Honky Tonk Man that said Parker was in the wrong business and should have been in porn instead. He also said they had a nickname for it, which was the "gut wrench."
ReplyDeleteParker was also known for giving "powder playoffs" to the wrestlers when he was booking his territory back in the 80's.
Somehow I don't think that a size comparison of dicks seen in a locker room would be anywhere on my list of questions to ask... Where do they find these guys?
ReplyDeleteI can see him pulling off his role better than Orton.
ReplyDeleteOne of the good things about WWE's bastardized version of ECW was that feuds played out logically each week, and you'd actually see the blowoff on TV. And it made sense. There's no reason that they can't duplicate that for the current midcard and tag team scene, other than laziness or lack of focus.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, the guy has so much working in his favor. Need a feud starter? Have some dude attack and injure Goldust, Cody steps up to get revenge, rinse, and repeat.
ReplyDeleteHuh? Cody's backstage promo after he got fired was downright amazing. It had shades of Dusty's "Hard Times" promo in that he basically spun everything around himself as the bread winner needing to provide for a wife he just married. It was the first time he genuinely seemed like a star, and they fucked it up by not doing more with him in that underdog babyface role.
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, I think a Cody/Goldust feud could work, and Goldie could even be the heel. He would just have to be the most cowardly, back-stabbing heel ever. If he slapped Dusty a few times while Cody was forced to watch, talked about Cody being the favored son, leched on Cody's hot wife, and basically channeled 1998 The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust, they'd both get over in the process. Of course, he'd need to have his Macho/Liz moment with the rest of his family at the end of the feud to redeem his character and give him a proper send-off.
ReplyDeleteHe's the definition of generic mid carder. I agree he hasn't always been utilized correctly but I've never seen "star" in him.
ReplyDeleteIf Vince Jordan has taught us anything, just because something doesn't make sense doesn't mean its not great story telling. This is just great storytelling.
ReplyDeleteScott makes an interesting point here about the inadvertent out come of the tag team being so hot at the end of last year. It's been amazing to see their fall from grace to the point where I even fast forward through their matches some times because I know they are just going to do their couple high spots and then job.
ReplyDeleteProperty Bros have to be in there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI bet the Rhodeseses could get over again if they were given another team to feud with. With the Real Americans broken up, it's time to pull the trigger on the Dolph & Miz alliance. They could offer Cody a spot in their alliance (as another overlooked young star), have Cody turn them down, and then do a tag feud where Miz and Ziggler want to take out Goldust for holding back the younger generation. You know, just a perfectly serviceable and intriguing midcard feud, doesn't have to put anyone on the world title chase. The stupidest part of the "just telling stories" line is that the only guys who get stories are the main-eventers, and the only story is either 'I want the title' or 'I want a shot at the title'.
ReplyDeleteOrton was pretty awesome as the Legend Killer
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty unrealistic
ReplyDeleteI agree, but they are a good ol' fashioned face tag team, that's like an endangered species it seems like. Why not just book them in some meaningful feuds? They were super hot when they were on the periphery of the Authority angle, give them something to do, and they will deliver.
ReplyDeleteDo we know for a fact they don't already do this? Maybe that's why the midcard is so poorly written...because their best writers are all writing main event stuff?!?
ReplyDeletewhat about the general 'bros before hoes'?
ReplyDeleteAs a the Legend Killer, yeah, that was his best role.
ReplyDeleteDisagree - the fact that the NAO won cleanly was awful. If they had cheated to win, sure, but no way should the gimmicky relics have cleanly beaten the team that beat "The Shield" repeatedly.
ReplyDeleteParker Bros.?
ReplyDeleteI agree that I don't really see him as a main-eventer, but he was a damned good mid-/upper-card guy. He could easily be something along the lines of the Ted Dibiase (in positioning, not gimmick) of this generation.
ReplyDelete
