The Odd Couple: Why Bray and Bo Dallas Should be Paired Up as a New Tag Team

Like those who work in a circus or live entertainment environment, WWE has a long-standing tradition of having wrestlers who are related to one another (or, in some cases, just unrelated duos they want to bill as siblings) wrestle as tag team partners. The Usos (part of the Anoi'i Family which has featured talent such as The Rock and Roman Reigns), The Rhodes Brothers and The Bella Twins all come to mind. After watching last night's Money In The Bank opening monologue (and seeing Bray go nowhere), I figured now would be a good time as any to have one of the most unusual, yet interesting true life sibling pairings to date debut: Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas.

The PG Era Rant: RAW, 06.30.14

When last we left our heroes, the Champ jumped back onto the throne. Despite the Authority's best efforts to give their chosen one the gold, it was John Cena overcoming collusion to win it all. But with the belief that a Conqueror is waiting to take his gold, can anything that happens with the titles matter? And what does the man in the on-deck circle, Seth Rollins, have to say about WWE's future? The PG Era Rant for Raw, June 30, 2014. Live from Hartford, Connecticut. Howdy Blog O'Doomers! Well another Network special is in the books and...well if that didn't make you miss MitB 2013 I don't know what will. I kind of felt bad for the participants in the main event match last night because they were thrown out there in a match that had no heat. Just the simple action of Ambrose rushing Rollins in the first MitB match gave it that edge that it needed for people to care. Instead with the second one, the announcers were trying to work in some sort of Reigns-Orton thing but there was nothing to it really. The other guys were just there to be there and even Cena couldn't bring himself to care about another run with a title he probably doesn't want anything to do with right now. Normally seeing Orton bleed like a stuck pig is enough to salvage a match but not last night. Oh well, we just have to accept that right now the promotion is going through a bit of a cold spell. It was bound to go downhill a little after Wrestlemania and we wer

The current crappy status quo in the WWE

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Jesse Baker  Just curious; why the hell have the WWE not tried to salvage what they can out of Bryan's injury/forced to give up the belt, by coming up with some sort of quick fix type thing to end the Authority storyline once and for all and allow them to move forward with the Shield as the main focus? Say, have Bryan at last month's PPV lure Steph and HHH out to the parking lot to get his answer about being forced to give up the belt after Steph/HHH had Kane injure Bryan only for Bryan and his wife run the two down like dogs? Steph and HHH get their comeuppence and have the injuries to justify their removal from TV. And then have, on the next night's Raw, have Vince come out and take over as the authority figure who states outright that HHH and Steph are gone until further notice AND have Vince strip Bryan of the belts as punishment for attempted vehicular homicide while at the same time acknowledging that HHH and Steph

QOTD #10: Your favorite title change

On the heels of an utterly forgettable Money in the Bank pay-per-view where John Cena claimed his 15 th World Title in unspectacular fashion, I ask you: Today’s Question: What was your favorite all-time World Title change in North American history? Match of the Day

Here are the three members of the Shield facing off against each other while in FCW from May 2012. Ambrose easily looks like the star of the three in this match as Seth is a face and Reigns went by Leakee and was very new to the business. Not a great match but interesting to see just how far these two have come along.

Southern States Wrestling Power Half Hour May 25th, 2014

Hello everyone, it's your old pal zanatude here.  You know, some people like to say that I run my catchphrases into the ground. Last week, history was made, as The Cripplers lost their SSW Tag Team Championships to the team of Jake Booth and Ray Idol, a completely unpredicted and unforeshadowed event.  Between Jake Booth's new title (one that he'll ostensibly be allowed to keep this time), Misty James's hot pursuit to regain the Women's Title, and the impending return to the ring of Beau James, the James family is flying high.  Furthermore, this show marks the start of a NEW Southern States Wrestling Power Half Hour in a NEW arena, and I'm as excited about all of this as an SSW fan is about seeing Ray Idol jump off of the second rope. Anyway, without any further ado, let's get classy!

Money in the Bank Thread

Quick Predictions: Ladder Match for the Vacant Title: The favorites here are Cena, Reigns, and Orton. Cena is a safe bet but the fans do not want to see him win here. Orton is also a favorite and even though he flamed out this past Fall as the champ, you could have him win and feud with Sheamus, Cena, Bryan, Reigns or whoever wins the MiTB match. Reigns has been built up well but I think it is too soon to pull the trigger and I believe that he will win the 2015 Royal Rumble then the belt at XXXI. Sheamus and Del Rio are warm bodies to fill out the card. Kane could win, I highly doubt it will happen though, to feud with a returning Bryan and that way he could get the belt after his return from injury but I would not bet on that happening. I dont see Wyatt winning this and his character does not need the belt anyway. He could be a challenger for the belt down the line though. Cesaro is not ready for the belt as his stock has dropped since the alignment with Heyman. Briefcase Match:

QOTD #9: Money in the Bank

WWE’s fourth hottest show of the year drops tonight, with Money in the Bank. We’ll be looking ahead to see who’s the likely interim champion until Daniel Bryan or Brock Lesnar are ready to take the strap, and get a glimpse into who the company is rolling the dice down the road. Today’s Question: What are you expecting from tonight’s pay-per-view? I’ll post the most creative, or factually correct responses tomorrow. If you want to jump into the discussion, please click the comments button or scroll to the end.

Excuses

Hi Scott, I'm not sure where I heard about this, whether it was an article or a podcast, but I remember John Cena saying about getting negative reactions during his matches being a GOOD thing. One example was when he and Orton battled it out for the WWE WHC and the crowd sh*t all over it and started the 'Daniel Bryan' chants. He says that any reaction during a match is a good thing as it shows that the fans are 'into' it. I have to disagree. For me, babyfaces should be cheered and heels should be booed - simple as that. It seemed as though Cena was trying to excuse not getting the right reactions. I know there are a million and one rants/articles/debates about the Cena character etc but surely if he (or any babyface) is getting negative reaction then they're not doing their job as a babyface (other than him being stale as hell)? And yes, he IS a babyface; I know there are those that say he is a face to children etc etc, and a heel to older males, but that

WCW 1994

I've been watching the Clashes and PPVs from WCW 94, and have a few observations/questions for you and the BOD. 1:  Did you ever do a rant for Fall Brawl 1994? It was almost like a last hurrah for the promotion that it was before Hogan and his buddies came in to ruin the on air product. 2: Has anybody ever pointed out that Hogan and Sting didn't wrestle on the same Clash/PPV for about the first six months of Hogan's WCW run? Seems like another example of Hogan playing every card he could to try to be the top babyface. 3: Was there any specific reason for the phasing out of Jesse Ventura other than Bobby Heenan was available? I'm not even asking about Ventura leaving the company, but it seems odd that Ventura is the lead color guy for two years and then he's just suddenly demoted. 1.  Yup.   http://wrestling.insidepulse.com/2002/08/06/4860/ 2.  You are pretty much correct.  Sting was a major threat to his position. 3.  I don't think Jesse was

MOTD: Mr Perfect vs Shawn Michaels At Stars & Stripes Forever 91

Here's a Mr. Perfect vs. Shawn Michaels match that's pretty obscure. Taped 3/11/91, aired on the Prime Time Wrestling "Road to WrestleMania VII: Stars And Stripes Forever" special on 3/17/91.  Hennig was on a major roll at this point, no doubt.  Shawn was no slouch himself.  Had the Summerslam 93 match even been this good, people wouldn't have been so pissed about it, I think.

Ninja Turtles

Hey Scott, With the new Ninja Turtles trailer recently out, I was curious if you (or the BODers) had any interest in the franchise in general and/or the upcoming film. I'm a proud Turtle fan (can't be any more embarrassing than being a wrestling fan, I suppose), and I don't know about anyone else but I'm more than excited for the new film. I have a love/hate relationship with Michael Bay, but here he seems to have something interesting going. I'm currently reading through the Ultimate Visual History book than just came out, and I encourage any Turtle fan to pick it up. I'm not really in the right demographic to be super-nostalgic about the Turtles, as I was a bit too old for the movies and a bit too young to get into the original comics.  My daughter really likes the TMNT movie from a few years back, though.

QOTD #8: Your Favorite Wrestling Trope

Happy weekend to everyone! I hope you’re not bogged down at work like I am today, and getting a chance to roll into Independence Week with family, friends, and BBQ. Today’s Question: What’s your favorite wrestling trope? We’ll check out your answers tomorrow. If you want to skip yesterday’s answers, please scroll right to the comments.

Ambrose vs Rollins Feud

Hey Scott, I wanted to get your thoughts on the current Ambrose vs Rollins feud.  To me it's one of the best booked angles in a long time.  It is so simple too.  Rollins turns on Ambrose and Ambrose wants revenge.  It feels like a legit blood/hate feud and it is so refreshing to see such a seriously booked angle.  Look no further than Ambrose's run ins during Rollins' matches.  He's in his street clothes and he doesn't wait for his music to cue(I always thought that was stupid.  If you want to sneak attack someone, why would you want your music to play in the arena?), it's little things like that, that have me enjoying this angle so much.  This actually frustrates me a little cause I have been watching this and I'm wondering why can't they book more angles like this.  Like you said, they know how to book someone strong(Reigns) and they know how to book a solid angle(like this one) but they just choose not too.  Your thoughts?   Well Ambrose is certa

Match of the Day

Here is a match between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage from the Maple Leaf Gardens show in October of 1985. Savage was only in the WWF for a little over three months at this point but even here, you could see the chemistry between these two. Also, Savage's heel work at this time was damn near perfect and Hogan could move around a lot quicker than most remember in this match. This is not a technical masterpiece but very fun for a house show main event.

Which Shoot Interview Should be Reviewed Next?

I have some time this week to review a long shoot interview so I have four recent releases that I am selecting for review. Most of these guys have an association with the WWE Developmental process, with two of them working behind the scenes. The final choice is the Tracy Smothers shoot, which there is no trailer for, but is hysterical and full of crazy stories and I would rate as a top 10 shoot of all-time. MiTB Lightning Round

1) Best MITB Match Dude, I barely even watched the product from 2005-2011, I can hardly even remember who WON most of the matches.  I recall the original with Benoit and Jericho being pretty awesome, so we’ll go with that one.  2) Worst MITB Match Again, I just don’t remember enough of them to distinguish them.  I wasn’t a big fan of the four-man one that Cena won, so we’ll go with that one.  3) Best performance in an MITB match Shelton Benjamin in his various attempts. 4) Best spot in an MITB Match I recall some crazy spectacular ones at WM24. 5) MITB - better as a separate PPV or at WM Wrestlemania.  Really justifies the bloated nature of the match and gives a bunch of guys a good payday and spotlight.  6) Worst MITB winner Damien Sandow by giant measures of length.  If you want to limit it to guys who were supposed to made into big stars off it, then Jack Swagger.  7) Ideal # of competitors 7 seems like a fair number. 8) Best cash-in Ziggler.  Right place, right time.

Total Divas Season 1 Recap: Episode 1 - "Welcome to the WWE!"

Last week, I wrote that The Total Divas belonged on the WWE Network and, less than a week later, after Vince obviously read my piece, it was announced that the reruns of the first two seasons would, in fact, be shown on the network. So, having been a major force in changing the WWE program lineup, instead of using my newly-discovered super powers for pure evil...well, I'm still gonna take over the world and you will all do my bidding. But, first, I'm pleased to be able to review the first Total Divas seasons, starting with Episode 1, which originally aired on July 28, 2013.

PPV is DYING

No, really, it is.  Extreme Rules did a shit buyrate in the US (about 39K) and it's becoming apparent that the WWE Network is effectively killing off the PPV model once and for all.  So basically they're all in with this model, like it or not.  The Network numbers released at the next conference are gonna be real interesting.   Also, business has picked up on the blog tonight, so perhaps the feud has legs after all.  Although I'm amused by the guy in the comment section questioning my integrity when I got dragged into something that had nothing to do with me and I've been quite transparent about my desire to cash in on it the whole time.   Credit:  PWInsider Elite section.

Waylon Mercy

Hey Scott, why didn't the Waylon Mercy gimmick get a bigger push? It seemed like it had legs, and certainly seemed more interesting than an evil dentist or a garbage man. They wanted to, but Dan Spivey just couldn't do the physically demanding schedule and got hurt quickly into the run.

Money in the Bank 2013 Review

I was going to review ROH’s Best in the World PPV, but I just could not make it all the way through the show. I expected it to deliver, but it ended up being (from what I saw) a rather mediocre show. I decided to watch Money in the Bank 2013 on the WWE network instead. Money in the Bank 2013 Review

NXT Date: June 26, 2014 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Rich Brennan, Renee Young, Alex Riley Reviewed by Tommy Hall NXT is coming in off a bad show which isn't something I have to say all that often. Things down here have a habit of turning around quickly though so let's get to it.

PWI audio ripping on you

In Dave and Mike's inane podcast today, they spend the last 20 minutes or so ripping on you and Bayless. I can provide it to you and Bayless later if you care to listen to it. I'm a bit restricted here at work. They do mention a bloody decapitation for Bayless and don't treat your Netcop name very kindly. Mike also reads about a chapter from Bill DeMott's book so I don't know how they can be bitching about Fair Use. ts14 on the forums.  I'm glad Dave is stepping up his game because this feud has been a flop so far.  I've got a kid with a broken leg!  Medical bills cost money!  Well, not in Canada, but for some people.

Lightning Round: X v. Y

Good afternoon Mr. Keith, here is some  matchups I'm curious to have ever happened: Steamboat vs. Great Muta (WCW 89 most likely?) Seems likely but I can’t cite a specific match.  Ric Flair and/or Sting vs. Jushin Lyger (wcw early 90's) Never that I know about. Bret Hart vs. Hulk Hogan in WWF Definitely not.  Chris Benoit vs. Rey Mysterio in WCW, preferably with a Mask on Had to have happened either in WCW or Japan.  Dean Malenko vs. Kurt Angle (WWF Early 2000's) Can’t see it happening.  Vader vs. Randy Savage singles match in WCW You’d think it would have, but I don’t recall it. It would have made sense for Vader to run through Hogan’s wacky little buddy, though.  Randy Savage vs. Mr. Perfect singles WWF I don’t think they ever crossed over at a point where their alignments would allow it.  Would have been a hell of a match, though.  And I know i've asked before, and your answer was no on them facing off, so can you also find it difficult to comprehend that the

NBA Draft Thread

Figured I'd toss this up; the draft order locks in less than a couple hours, after which teams can only trade the rights to players they drafted, not the picks themselves. Dunno if Bayless ever posted his full mock he said he was going to do or if he was too busy receiving empty legal threats from old creeps, but I'll do my lottery mock (assuming no trades, because I'm too lazy to go down that rabbit hole) and offer a few thoughts after the jump. I hate making predictions, so consider this partly what I think will happen, and partly what makes sense. Also, please do check out Andrew Riche's excellent, much more in-depth draft preview over at Place To Be Nation. http://placetobenation.com/2014-nba-draft-preview/
