We're still in Pennsylvania for the second of about ten straight taped shows. The big story coming off last week is Lashley winning the World Title from Eric Young to give the trio even more control. MVP was very abusive with his power though so the mighty hand of the invisible Board of Directors might be in play tonight. Let's get to it.

We open with a recap of last week's main event.

The trio is in the back and MVP says they're ready to fight tonight.

Beautiful People vs. Gail Kim/Terryn Terrell

Angelina and Gail get things going with Love missing an early splash in the corner, allowing Gail to hammer with forearms to the jaw. Off to Terryn who hammers away for a bit but gets caught by the double team on the floor. A double elbow drop gets two for Velvet followed by some forearms to the head. A running neckbreaker gets two and we hit the chinlock. Terryn finally escapes to make the hot tag as everything breaks down. Terrell hits a cross body to put both Beautiful People down, allowing Gail to hit Eat Defeat on Angelina for the pin at 6:45.

Rating: D+. Standard Knockouts tag here to set up the latest title match between Gail and Angelina because we haven't seen them fight enough times already. Again, can we please get some fresh ideas in this division? I can't remember the last new story we had for the girls, and it's getting really tiresome.

Bound For Glory is in Tokyo. That's going to be interesting.

Dixie Carter says it's a good night to be Dixie Carter.

Here are King and MVP with something to say. There's a table with champagne set up behind them and three good looking women to make the view a bit better. MVP brings out Lashley and says they conquered last week, just like they promised they would, and now they own the world. Eric Young is going to be asking for his release after the beating they gave him last week. This brings out Eric with his arm in a sling. He knows you can't fight city hall but he only wants to fight them. Young charges to the ring and gets beaten down by the two healthy guys. Bobby Roode jumps the barricade to make another save.

Back from a break with Roode talking about signing his contract on the same day as Eric Young and how they both have TNA in their blood. Eric Young has spent the last seven years fighting for the love of wrestling and Roode says they both want the title. They want their company back, because that's what TNA originals say to heel stables on this show. Roode is back to fight for what he loves and doesn't care what MVP does.

MVP asks to get in the ring and be civilized. The boss says every action has a reaction and Roode's actions have earned a reaction from MVP. In his capacity as the boss, Roode is officially....interrupted by a guy in a suit. His name is Mr. Armstrong and he's a member of the board of directors. In a Texas accent, he says MVP is no longer Director of Wrestling Operations and his replacement will be here tonight. Roode nails MVP.

The Menagerie gets a phone call. Apparently they have to win a title or the family business is going under. Crazy Steve is going to win the X-Division Title tonight. The Bro Mans come in and say they're getting the shot because they speak strong style. An unmasked Manik comes in and says he's getting the shot. He puts on the mask and says Steve has something on his face.

Spud and Dixie think she gets power back tonight.

X-Division Title: Sanada vs. Crazy Steve vs. Manik vs. DJZ

Sanada had the choice of opponent and picked all of them. Fast pace to start with Sanada getting a quick rollup but DJZ trips him to the floor. Steve bites DJZ's head and fingers but Sanada sunset flips both of them, sending both guys flying. A missile dropkick puts both guys down but Manik puts the champion in an Indian Deathlock. Manik hits a huge dive to take out all three challengers on the floor. Back in and DJZ hits a tornado DDT on Steve but we get a Tower of Doom to send both guys down. A quick tiger suplex from Sanada is enough for the pin on DJZ at 3:26.

Rating: C. Some nice high spots but that's really about it. It's nice to see them finally pay attention to the title a few weeks before Destination X, even though it's not going to mean a thing after July or whenever the special airs. Sanada isn't going into the show as champion, which makes the last few months of his reign fairly pointless.

MVP says no one takes anything from him.

Magnus and Bram say a Monster's Ball match sounds like an old Friday night to them.

Here are Dixie and Spud to gloat. Fan: “NO ONE CARES! YOU SUCK!” She says she's always put faith in wrestlers and they keep screwing her over. There's a table behind her for no apparent reason. Dixie laughs at the fans for buying into MVP's nonsense and promises to give the fans what they want: More Dixie!

She brings out the lawyer or whatever he is from earlier and offers him a toast. He says there's been a misunderstanding because Dixie isn't the new Director. The champagne goes into her face and says this isn't happening over her dead body. This brings out Bully Ray who drinks some of the champagne and threatens to put them both through a table. Dixie offers $200,000 for him to let her go but he wants the table. Ethan Carter runs out and is easily dispatched and Spud gets the same treatment. Dixie is lited up but Spud moves the table for the save.

Dixie is panicking and Ray says he was that close.

Mr. Anderson vs. James Storm

It's a brawl on the floor to start as the announcers speculate about who the new boss might be. They fight into the ring and the swinging neckbreaker puts Storm down but Anderson might have hurt his shoulder. Closing Time and a Backstabber get two for Storm but he misses the Last Call. The Mic Check is countered by a grabbed rope and the Last Call gives Storm the pin at 2:19.

Gunner has gotten Samuel Shaw out of the asylum under his care. Shaw shakes his hand.

James Storm asks Sanada if he's ready for the pressure of Destination X and implies that he's coming for the title.

Tommy Dreamer jumps Ethan Carter and they brawl in the back. The fight spills into the arena with Dreamer hitting Ethan with a trashcan but getting hit low and slammed on the ramp. Dreamer suplexes him onto the floor but gets whipped into the steps. Ethan goes into the steps as well and they head inside where Dreamer keeps hammering away. Security breaks it up and the fans say let them fight.

Willow and Abyss are ready for Monster's Ball.

The trio goes to wait on the new boss. After a break they attack the driver when he won't say who he's driving.

Bram/Magnus vs. Abyss/Willow

Monster's Ball meaning anything goes and weapons are encouraged. Abyss hammers on Bram to start and knocks him out to the floor, leaving the other two in the ring to brawl. Abyss sets up a barbed wire board between the ring and barricade but stops to throw weapons into the ring. The Brits hammer away with trashcans but Willow comes back with a double clothesline. Whisper in the Wind drops Magnus and a trashcan to the head puts Bram down. The Swanton misses but Abyss finds Janice. As usual though it gets stuck in the turnbuckle before any murder can take place.

Bram is busted open but he's able to handcuff Abyss to the barricade. The double teaming ensues on Willow but Abyss breaks the cuffs and makes a save. Magnus lays him out with a trashcan, only to have Willow makes the save with a kendo stick and Twists of Fate all around. Magnus throws the chair to knocks Willow off the top and through the barbed wire in a big crash. Abyss has thumbtacks and, after avoiding a shot from Janice, chokeslams Magnus down onto them. Bram nails Abyss in the ribs with Janice for the pin at 9:00.

Rating: C. This had all the standard spots for a Monster's Ball match but the violence was solid enough to make the whole thing work. TNA overuses this gimmick a bit, though at least it's not as bad as some of the stuff WWE does. This was good enough and put over Bram and Magnus which was the whole point. Good enough.

The lawyer comes out and announces Kurt Angle as the new Director because....well who else was it going to be? Angle says it's time for him to give back but here's the trio to interrupt. MVP can't believe that this is his replacement and violence is threatened, but Angle shouts that HE'S THE FREAKING BOSS. Angle makes Lashley vs. Young II for next week and reinstates Bobby Roode. The brawl is on to end the show.

Overall Rating: C+. This was MUCH better than last week as they actually had some other stuff going on besides the one main story. The show wasn't great or anything but after last week I would have given anything a better rating. The big surprise at the end wasn't really a surprise at all but at least it's back to a face vs. a heel on top of the company. Given that this is TNA I'd be stunned if Angle didn't walk into Tokyo as a heel though. They're taking a major risk by taping so many weeks of shows in advance but this was at least a good second step.

Results
Gail Kim/Terryn Terrell b. Beautiful People – Eat Defeat to Love
Sanada b. Crazy Steve, Manik and DJZ – Tiger suplex to DJZ
James Storm b. Mr. Anderson – Last Call
Bram/Magnus b. Willow/Abyss – Bram pinned Abyss after hitting him with Janice

  1. By next month, Angles gonna be a heel. You know TNA can't resist.

  2. I'm just glad Kurt is out of the ring for a bit; he's getting a little scary to watch; don't want a Misawa situation in the ring with him.

Indeed. He'd be very valuable as a trainer and hopefully could let his mind have a bit of a break.

So wait, they just had a taping last night, but this is from the old tapings? What is this, ROH?

BTW, Manik is really TJ Perkins, right?

  9. Yes, he is TJ Perkins.

Not that I know of but he's won some titles in All Japan.

My issue in school was never tests/exams, it was never showing up to school, and when I did I usually got into some kind of trouble and got suspended. Teachers would tell me "You get 90 or above on every test, why don't you ever show up to class?" and I'd respond "If I'm getting 90 or above on every test I don't NEED to be here."

    ReplyDelete
  14. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 26, 2014 at 9:50 PM

Really? Generally TNA doesn't work with AJPW, for whatever reason.

Remember a few months back all the newz sitez were saying that WWE was going to start a working agreement with AJPW? Did anyone believe that load of shit for a second?

    ReplyDelete
  15. kbwrestlingreviewsJune 26, 2014 at 9:52 PM

I know the feeling all too well. I didn't go to class most of my first semester and was on probation for a semester. I had to get a 2.0 to stay in school. Grades came out and I had a 1.8. I was at a friend's house when I found out and panicked. She calmed me down, we watched Heroes, then she wanted to check her grades. Mine were still up and she said "Wait.....that's a 2.0." I had been nervous and done the math wrong. Never in my life have I felt such relief in one moment.

Never made it to college, after I got my GED I was just plain sick of school and wanted to work and make money. What I intended at the time to be for only a few months has been 15 years and counting.

  18. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 26, 2014 at 10:00 PM

JULY 24TH? The Impact Zone is still in Universal Studios, not at Disneyworld, right?

It did look like they had a really good crowd last night, though if you can't fill the Hammerstein when you have a TV deal that might a sign to just close the doors.

Tonight they got through August 7 with more tapings tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  20. kbwrestlingreviewsJune 26, 2014 at 10:01 PM

Nothing wrong with that. I think I needed to go to college just for the structure. It's also kind of expected in my family.

  21. Wow, they've really jacked the price up over there. When I last subscribed it was like $39.99 or somewhere thereabouts for a year. That's definitely a rip off as that site started really going downhill at least 3 or 4 years ago. It was around that time Dave and a couple others were starting to really whine and go on idiotic rants that nobody cared about.

  22. And more people infected with spyware and malware as a result.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 26, 2014 at 10:11 PM

They did them over the course of 3 nights? That's... different, I guess. Though holding a taping while your TV show is on seems kind of counterproductive, but I'm sure WWE does house shows on Fridays. In 2014 pretty much everyone has a DVR anyway.

  29. I went to undergrad and grad school. I can't really say I benefitted much from either. I just ended up with a lot of debt.

    ReplyDelete
  30. You're welcome. I've enjoyed your posts both in the comments and on the BoD.

I find the whole GED thing silly. I don't know what your education is and who cares? He wants to ban you for reposting that content, that's fine, that's his prerogative (though it doesn't bother Meltzer that his newsletter is ripped off whole-cloth by most of the internet, though I'm sure I'm not the first person to point that out). But his outsized reaction to you just makes him look like a ginormous tool.

I can also say that based on his behavior in this case I will never subscribe to his newsletter because I can only imagine how he acts in a customer service setting.

I can believe that, there's a couple girls I work with that have college degrees, but are waitresses and bartenders because it just pays better. And one of them has a degree in medical billing (or whatever degree you need for that job, I forget) and quit her job out of college after a month, she just couldn't handle boring ass tedious office work.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I've been saying this for two days. This is the lamest shit ever.

    ReplyDelete
  39. And a nearly 40 year old man is wasting his re posting the sillyness the other guy is wasting his with? Scott isn't in the clear here. He could have just ignored this and moved on but has tried to make it a thing for three days now and in doing so has shown me just how unfunny a lot of the BOD is. So far its a lot of lame dog jokes. I expected better.

  40. Riveting radio.

I always got along really well with my mom. My dad and I had a really rocky patch for awhile but we're much better now. Amen on the moronic bosses. First day working at Amazon: "Ask all the questions you have." I ask a few. Manager: "Are you trying to cause trouble?"

    ReplyDelete
  43. Right. I wish I remember if Scott ever responded to Hyatte in any way about anything. This brings back memories of Hyatte actually getting under the skin of Sean S and CRZ, and also kissing Eric S's butt. I haven't thought about any of these guys in years just have stupid memory. I only come to this site...love Scott just wish he'd come around on Paul Roma and the Freebirds!

Probably a mix of a really good pop and a fair amount of people thinking "Who is the Great Muta?" Unless he's been in TNA before, his last TV/PPV appearance in the U.S. was in 2000.

Imagine if it happened in 2003, the internet would have rioted, and it would have looked silly, because it would would have been a whole bunch of people trying to riot in different places by themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I love the little iwc feuds, just so funny and stupid but in the moment they feel so crazy.

BTW I've always been a fan of Freebirds v 1.0 but I thought 2.0 with Garvin sucked... And then I got the network, and totally changed my opinion on Hayes and Garvin. They were fucking awesome too and I've seen several good matches they've had.

    ReplyDelete
  47. More people should follow him on twitter. @davescherersdog

    ReplyDelete
  48. Right. And Power and Glory were awesome. I can't decide if I believe Roma that they got buried after VII because he got injured and it had to turn into a squash against the Roadies.
All that said, what happened to Hyatte, CRZ, Eric S, Mike and Rick...all the guys that used to matter? Bob Ryder?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Seems like finances aren't the only thing hurting.

    That poor dog...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Total garbage. However you do realize the last 72 hours have now solidified you as legit iwc personality. Between all the daily work and the BoD raw stuff you've sort of coopted Scotts fans as your fans now too and in addition you've had a front line iwc guy publicly feud with you. Your now a made man dude, not just some guy doing TNA weekly ppv reviews. 10 years from now iwc guys will be like "oh yeah and Bayless" You've got a mobile fanbase that rushed to your defense, the page about your feud did over 4k page views, and no matter what some old dog fucker and a few of his fake accounts say you clearly and decisively won the feud. For you personally as a iwc reviewer, this is a good thing. Also I guarantee you at least 3/4of the audience for that podcast tapped out when Scherer started bitchjng about you on the podcast because they just had it on for wrestling news and the rest now know your name. This is a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Maybe he just sucks the dogs dick? God I hope that's all, but with this creep you pretty much know he's tapping it on the reg.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think I remember reading in the Apter mags that Bret faced Randy in Japan. . .

    ReplyDelete
  53. So many lies were in that audio broadcast.

LOL at me making up Twitter accounts yesterday when the ones defending him were all new

    ReplyDelete
  54. Reading the spoilers for the NYC shows. If this was TNA all year around, it'd be my favorite promotion, hands down

    ReplyDelete
  55. Please everyone, share the pain.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yep, Bayless is now a star.

    ReplyDelete
  57. That poor poor dog.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm not sure what's going on with this feud but it amuses me how many crappy wrestling podcasts have popped up. I listen to The LAW religiously and will check in on Torch and MLW occasionally, but is there really a demand for so many? Most sound terribly produced or feature guys that don't really know what they are talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Dave Scherer fired Bayless for "copyright", Scherer then attacked Bayless on twitter, now we've been having fun for the past 2 days.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The only account that I saw defend him that was real was the fat eagles fan guy. The rest were 100% fake. The guy is a strictly online wrestling dude and he has 2k twitter followers. That's pathetic and would you put it past him to buy them? Not to mention the home he owns is in Nevada, doubt he even paid 200k for it. You can see a tiny part of it in his pictures. Also who lives in Nevada? Seriously. Think about that. You probably make as much as he does at your day job and he's been doing this for ever. And he's at least 25 years older than you. He possibly the most pathetic thing I've seen online. Also I've had like 90 people (no bullshit, I've got at least 25 group emails in my sent folder that went out and people are still emailing me or replying in the thread to ask for it, in fact I sent out so many emails that yahoo made me do the verification line thing like 10 times today just to ssend out any email!) ask for the emails. So way more people have sided with you. Its probably like 150 to 2.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I have gotten some emails the past two days, mostly IWC guys who dislike Scherer.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That doesn't actually seem too bad. Didn't the B shows generally pull 150-200k before the network?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Meltzers is the best IMO. Only one I do.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This thing is slowly turning into Scherer vs not the BoD, but the whole IWC.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Lost in all this kerfuffle...Extreme Rules did a 40k domestic buy rate, 107 overall

    ReplyDelete
  66. I don't have an Observer subscription or I'd listen to him.

LAW alone generally gives me enough content for commuting that I don't need much more wrestling content plus I like to listen to some movie and pop culture chat too like Grantland, NPR and Dissolve to mix it up.

    ReplyDelete
  67. That's good right?

    ReplyDelete
  68. More importantly, I want this feud to end.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Seems like this guy won't let it end.

    ReplyDelete
  70. 2012 did 263k total, 2013 did 237k total (I dont know the domestic vs Intl breakdown)

So I don't know if 107k plus the 667k at 10 bucks is better

    ReplyDelete
  71. It better be good.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 26, 2014 at 11:26 PM

Never really figured why me and mom never got along, though she did mention that I kind of remind her of my dad, who was a bit of a scumbag, in the same sense that Benoit might have had a bit of an issue with head trauma (he passed a little over a year ago). I worked for some fucking idiots though, and not just cooking. The GM at a factory I used to work at was great with getting clients in and shit, but the dude couldn't even do basic arithmetic, which is a bit of a problem in a line of work that's pretty much all about numbers. And then he'd get pissed when I could do all this shit in my head, like I was showing him up or something. Fuck off dude, I got a quota here, get the fuck out of my way and let me work ("get the fuck out of my way and let me work" is something I've said at MANY jobs over the years). Typical dumbass jock that clearly got where he was solely because of his looks.

    ReplyDelete
  73. So 107k times 60 bucks is around 6.2 million, then the 667k network subs equal 6.7 mil,so call it 13 million in before the split (half of the 6,2 mil and we don't know the mlb take on the netwoeky) so before the mlb gets a taste ER did 10 million gross not counting MLB's cut. Right? I'm fucked up right now

Say a 250k average for ER the last two years, times 60 bucks is like 15 million, after they give up half to the carries that 7.5 mil.

If mlb takes 25% (no idea if that's true) the wwe made the exact same gross right? Im super high and don't know if I did that right but I wanted to discuss the #'s

    ReplyDelete
  74. Enough already. Just get to the blow off, where Bayless/Scott take on Scherer and the Dog. Hell in a kennel.

BUT WHO'S SIDE IS THE DOG ON?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Let's not forget 2012 and 2013 got a bump from Lesnar working the shows where 2014 was pretty much rematches from Mania.

  86. Bayless really needs to have a Midget Dave Scherer showing up on BoD RAW.

  87. This is like... a war... over things nobody cares about.

  91. More like an extended hissy fit being thrown by a sad, creepy old man.

    ReplyDelete
  92. As someone who was a big fan of Mike Johnson, I lost a lot of respect for him listening to this. They have no idea how copyright works. Holy crap.

    ReplyDelete
  93. That talk about contacting Brian's employer and getting him fired was totally uncalled for. It really shows what kind of a classless douche bag Dave is.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Didn't watch the show but part of me hopes this lawyer was the same ridiculous Kevin Nash clone lawyer that Bully Ray used last year to get a second title match with Sabin

    ReplyDelete
  95. I think I've been pretty clear in my desire to cash in on this. Do I have to draw you a diagram?

    ReplyDelete
  96. I think we keep coming back for the dog. Just like Scherer does.

    ReplyDelete
  97. That's fucking brilliant.

    ReplyDelete
  98. This is all a work. It's the beginning of the PWI Invasion angle.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I don't get why some wrestling fans bristle at the idea of pre-taped shows. Almost every non-wrestling show you watch is pre-taped: Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Scandal, etc.
If the issue is that spoilers are more likely to get out about a wrestling show, just don't pay attention to the spoilers.

  100. That's the first thing I thought when they announced he was the new authority figure: How long before he turns heel?

    ReplyDelete
  101. So the logical next step would be for the MVP trio to dissolve, since without that job MVP can't really do anything for Lashley and King anymore. Actually, I could see King sticking with MVP in a sidekick role (think Shannon Moore to MVP's Matt Hardy). Lashley can stay heel and be TNA's answer to Brock Lesnar, but he's not a bad babyface, either. He just needs somebody to talk for him.

  102. Scaia still runs online onslaught over at www.oowrestling.com. He's regressed a lot, but he's still and enjoyable enough read most of the time. He actually just came back from major surgery of some type, so he's been writing more. I think that Mike may have actually gone to jail over something; someone did a search for Mike Samuda and found something about that. No idea what happened to Eric S or to Hyatte, they're probably sucking each other off somewhere while Shannon tapes it. And CRZ's archives are still up at www.slashwrestling.com, but he hasn't written about wrestling in ages, near as I can tell.

MVP still owns part of the company. He just isn't in charge of what happens on TV anymore. In other words, not a lot is going to change for him more than likely.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Wtf. Who'd pad that for a site that doesn't even have any exclusive news or sources? Fair enough paying for WON but fuck that for PWI.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Meltzer mentioned the number on the audio show. Think he said the international number was down 25% which probably means a decent number of international fans already have the Network. Not good for future projections of subs when the network goes international.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I think TNA has been working with Muta/Wrestle-1. The fact that he won some AJ gold is just a coincidence.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I never got the importance of being live either. People are still going to watch regardless if it's live or not and if they're producing a good product like when Foley won his first title then it can still deliver a good rating.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'd prefer Bayless Machine myself...but let's go with your idea!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Mike Johnson told my mother to go fuck herself. That is sweet of him

  111. They were both heels in the late 80's and then Hennig was hurt and couldn't wrestle when Savage made his comeback. They conceivably could've wrestled after that but Hennig turned face to team with Macho when Warrior left around SurSeries that year.

  113. i was too consumed with the draft.

What else could be said after what yall said? Its old hat at this point. I wanna hear what Old Man Dave and his pooch said.

  114. I'm waiting for the swerve where Bayless turns on Scott and reveals he was in cahoots with Scherer, then Caliber is revealed as the Higher Power who bought up both website domains with the money Scott left on the table.

"If Mike Johnson could grab you by your head and slit your throat and watch you die, he probably would."

    That seems reasonable.

    ReplyDelete
  116. You have an issue with ending this though as Scott evidently is having fun needling Scherer and more importantly Scherer appears to be getting a boner by having the 10 -12 mutants that pay for his site going "tellem Steve Dave"

    ReplyDelete
  117. My favorite part was Scherer lying about what I said in the emails

    ReplyDelete
  118. I finally listened to this podcast and.....wow. The guy talks about losers people are that give themselves a "gimmick." Meanwhile, these guys spend the entire podcast using "insider" wrestling terms in real life situations ("that's a shoot!" and, ya' know, referring to things as "gimmicks"). And the over the top "I don't want to see you naked!", "I used to train because I played football!" and "this is what it feels like to have your dick sucked!" was seriously overcompensating.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I'd love to hear the conversation with HR when he tries to explain why they should care about something like that

    ReplyDelete
  120. Why is it so hard for people to understand that "bark" means "no"?

    ReplyDelete
  121. that 'clone' was longtime OVW announcer Dean Hill. No idea who this guy was though

I remember posting that on here and getting down votes for it. I'll never understand some stuff about this place.

  123. I'm sorry, I'm still stuck on you using "logic" in a sentence regarding TNA.
