Obviously a pretty defining moment in ECW history. Shane Douglas just owning pro wrestling. Pitbull 2 continuing his string of good performances. Francine really establishing herself. Jericho was go great and Scorp too.
This is one of my favorite ECW matches. The finish is weak, with the belly-to-belly coming off as more powerful than hitting a guy with a chain and breaking a table over his head, but the rest is entertaining.
This is on one of the ECW DVDs (I wanna say Unreleased Vol 1, but no one hold me to that) and it's pretty good. The beginning tends to drag, but once Jericho's gone it picks up.
Let that sink in: A match that got better once CHRIS JERICHO wasn't in it anymore.
And any match that involves Francine taking that skirt off can't be all bad. (I never bought Beulah as ECW's best looking woman. Dawn Marie, then Woman, then Francine, THEN Beulah.)
Jericho was still pretty new at that point, wasn't he? And although Douglas and Pitbull weren't great or anything, Scorpio was always fucking awesome and the Douglas/Pitbull interactions were always inexplicably good.
And I agree wholeheartedly with your "women of ECW" rankings, although I'd add Kimona on there somewhere too. Maybe Lita, because although she was only there for a cup of coffee I always got a kick out of being able to compare pre and post implants.
Sounds like a great match! Except for Shane Douglas being in it. He fucking sucks.
