Hi Scott,
blah, blah, big fan, blah, blah....
Two questions are:
1) What is the highest star rating you've given to a Jake Roberts match (that wasn't Royal Rumble 92)?
2) What is your favourite match that ended with a disqualification?
Thanks,
Will.
1. Pretty sure I had all the matches he had with Randy Savage in the ***1/2 range. Either that or one of the Ricky Steamboat series would be the highest.
2. Shawn v. Mankind, of course.
Did the HHH/Rock Ironman match end with a DQ during the Undertaker run-in?
ReplyDeleteUndertaker vs. Shawn Michaels from Ground Zero should be up there. Also Stone Cold vs. Shawn Michaels from King of the Ring '97.
ReplyDeleteYes as Rock and Triple H were tied 5-5 so the DQ for the run in by the Undertaker was the deciding fall.
ReplyDeleteYes you are indeed correct.
ReplyDeleteIn a very similar way one of the best no-contest matches has to be HBK/Undertaker from the IYH Ground Zero PPV from 1997 which is severely overlooked due to the following HIAC match the next month at Badd Blood.
ReplyDeleteThat match/segment is awesome and was what I was hoping for out of Ambrose/Rollins at Battleground(complete with a Dean Ambrose plancha onto a crowd)
ReplyDeleteAlmost forgot but Kurt Angle/ Stone Cold Steve Austin from Summerslam 2002 has to be a close second?
ReplyDeleteThat would have been so much better than what they booked at Battleground.
ReplyDeleteAlso remember Bret Hart vs. Diesel from King of the Ring '94 and Royal Rumble '95 who were pretty good.
ReplyDeleteJake was a genius at maximizing every move.
ReplyDeletewas that the one where Austin took out the ref after Kurt kicked out if 3 stunners? or was that from September 01
ReplyDeleteFlair - Luger at Capital Combat.
ReplyDeleteYes it was and the rematch was in September 2001 where Angle won the title. That was my bad for thinking it was in 2002 which I've quickly edited.
ReplyDeleteI've got a question!
ReplyDeleteDidn't Brian Pillman just look a lot tougher when he was wearing pants? THE GUY IS A LOOSE CANNON!!!
Another match that ended in a DQ that sprung to my mind that belongs in a category of 'Why the f**k did they even book this to begin with' is AJ Styles/Frank Trigg from 2008
ReplyDeleteLove the name and avatar; Hardison would be proud
ReplyDeleteFor sure. Pretty much ***** with a decisive finish?
ReplyDeleteAge of the geek, baby.
ReplyDeletedefinitely ***** the crazed looks Austin gives when Kurt kicks out of the stunners is classic
ReplyDeleteBret/Taker from One Night Only also springs to mind for the DQ finish. And hot damn, that crowd...
ReplyDeleteJoye77 Carson. you think Richard`s remark is amazing, last week I bought a brand new Mitsubishi Evo after making $9971 this-past/4 weeks and-just over, 10 grand last-month. this is certainly the most-rewarding I've had. I began this 5 months ago and pretty much straight away was bringin in more than $81 p/h. I follow the details on this straightforward website.............,..
ReplyDeleteHTTP://online''';;,,,..money..<
HHH vs Scott Steiner, Royal Rumble 2003.
ReplyDeleteYou think that's amazing, remember the time when the prophet Muhammed gave me a salmon helmet?
ReplyDeleteHe said "favorite" matches so TNA was automatically excluded.
ReplyDeleteFlair/Luger from Wrestle War 90 was better. Unless youre being a stickler for the whole "dq" thing.
ReplyDeleteI thought Scott had one of the savage / Jake matches at ****.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think Jake and Dibiase form WrestleMania VI is around ****.
Is everyone gonna do the "hi Scott, blah blah blah" thing now?
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourites, that match. Little spoken of, and as you say, massively overshadowed by what came later. It's a very special thing, though.
ReplyDeleteThe Luger/steamboat DQ would be pretty high on my list as well
ReplyDeleteHm. Perhaps answers to questions phrased like this should be more along the lines of:
ReplyDelete"Hello emailer.
blah, blah, a match with a DDT, something awesome with a couple of great workers, blah blah.
You're welcome.
