Tennessee chain match? Does that mean each of them is chained to a slave or something? That chain is obviously produced in Erie, PA.
ReplyDeleteWith the roster as shallow as it is, I'm not sure 40 men in the Rumble is a good idea. Unless they're going to bring back a bunch of old-timers to fill it out.
ReplyDeleteCena vs Ambrose is a Contract on a Pole match at the PPV for a contract to face Rollins in HIAC later in the night.
ReplyDeleteCenaLosesLOL?
Vince: WELL PAL, IF THOSE WWE UNIVERSIANS WEREN'T IMPRESSED BY ROMAN REIGNS' SEXY HAIR AND BEEFY PHYSIQUE THEY'LL EAT HIM UP WHEN HE ELIMINATES THIRTY-NINE SUPERSTARS IN THE FIRST-EVER 20-MINUTE RUMBLE OH DADDY NEEDS A SHOWER WHATAMANEUVER!!!!!!
ReplyDelete"For whatever it's worth, as of this week WWE believes they have their WrestleMania main event."
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS THE BIGGEST NEWS IN THE HISTORY OF OUR SPORT!
I guess they need to fit in all those guys on the roster they never use on TV like Fandango, Xavier Woods, Big E, and Zack Ryder.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the fun part of the Rumble is all the surprise entrants. That's the only reason why a 40 man Rumble COULD be ok. Plus, good luck having anyone but Daniel or Ambrose win it. If Pittsburgh turned on the Rumble last year, imagine Phily...
ReplyDeleteYep, just sounds like a "sensationalism story" so people can yell "OMG DAMN IT WE WANT AMBROSE, WE DON'T WANT IT TO BE CONFIRMED NOW!! GET THE PITCHFORKS!!"
ReplyDeleteWhich is especially hilarious because we can probably assume what WWE thought would be the main event of Mania 30 in October 2013 ended up different when April 2014 rolled around....
ReplyDeleteHow come I get the feeling that Dean Ambrose is the CM Punk the WWE always wanted.
ReplyDeleteDepends on if he's also smart enough to invest his money.
ReplyDeleteI think it is obvious we are getting either Bryan or Reigns vs. Lesnar as the main event. I'd be fine with either to be honest.
ReplyDeleteWell I suppose if Mikey Whipwreck wins the Rumble they should be happy enough.
ReplyDeleteUncle Eric's shoot looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteThe guy in the other thread (Bobby?) that wanted Hogan to "play ball" with Sting should watch that clip and release that it was Sting that wasn't playing ball with them.
Doesn't eric suffer from the same types of delusions as hogan? Revisionist history protecting friends etc?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if making the Rumble match a 40 man means that Lesnar will not be on the show. Having a huge Rumble match and a Lesnar title defense would be two big matches, and the WWE doesn't tend to load the cards anymore outside of Mania.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Plans can change. So it's a total non-story.
ReplyDeleteI'd pay 9.99 for that.
ReplyDeleteBayless you have got to do the Bischoff shoot. Love him or hate him he is one of the most influential figures in the history of pro wrestling. Always something interesting to say one way or the other. Much more likable now that he is no longer the head of WCW.
ReplyDeleteWho watches a shoot to learn the truth? I just like to be entertained?
ReplyDeleteUmm... Adding 10 dark match jobbers doesn't really equate to a supercard. I'd be shocked if Brock isn't there.
ReplyDeleteI'd be fine with either. The real question is whether The Rock, Stone Cold, or even both wrestle on the show, because that would be the real main event.
ReplyDeleteYou mean a guy that is talented, entertaining and doesn't whine like a little bitch every 5 minutes? (Actually, come to think of it, Ambrose cutting a promo on Punk about what a whiny little bitch he is could be great fun!)
ReplyDelete'And here comes #30, Michael!'
ReplyDeleteTHREE!
TWO!
ONE!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQWMkf0WBDw
Rock vs. an undefeated Rusev on the undercard. Austin will probably wait until 32 in Dallas to return to the ring.
ReplyDeleteThey need to make it 41, so that Del Rio is no longer the winner of the biggest Rumble ever.
ReplyDeleteYou shock easily.
ReplyDeleteI hate the 40 man rumble idea. Hate it, hate it, hate it!
ReplyDeleteJust remember that when Curt Hawkins wins it all in his shocking return.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Bayless please do this one.
ReplyDeleteYes, but it will be hyped as a huge Royal Rumble match with 40 competitors for only the second time ever! It just seems like an unnecessary addition unless Lesnar is not going to appear. The last 40 man Rumble had a very unimpressive undercard.
ReplyDeleteI get that. I was more. Curious if bonby could be wrong just because it came out of Eric's mouth. I think it'll be an entertaining shoot no matter what he says honestly. Would love to see him youshoot. The gimmick bag alone would be worth it
ReplyDeleteIf the Rumble ends up having 40 competitors, we will probably see a number of special guests. Will we see the return of that youngster Carlos Colon?
ReplyDeleteThat would be funny, just to stick it to him. Seriously though, Del Rio did so little in that match, I hope this winner comes in earlier than 37 and eliminates more than two people.
ReplyDeleteEvery ten seconds, a new wrestler enters the ring!
ReplyDeleteI was fine with having it one time, just to cancel out the first one, that had 20 members, so it then had an official average of 30 per year. That helped for stat geek stuff. Not sure they they're doing it again though.
ReplyDeleteOdds for the elimination record being broken are off the board.
ReplyDeleteBatista vs Orton
ReplyDeleteCena vs Wyatt
Taker vs Lesnar
Punk vs hhh
Is what Meltzer reported in October 2013. Seems pretty close to me.
I don't mind that, it helps push the "luck of the draw" factor as something important. People lasting 50 minutes each and every year kind of devalue the accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteHe basically nailed it last year. And the year before. And the year... *sigh* smh
ReplyDelete#4 Mankind
ReplyDelete#9 Dude Love
#13 Cactus Jack
#17 Mick Foley
#22 Cactus Jack Manson
#26 Nick Foley
#39 Dewey Foley
#40 The Sandman
Nailed what? The Batista vs Randy Orton WM main event? Yep, that was set in stone!
ReplyDeleteI like that actually. I forgot the first one on USA only had 20.
ReplyDeleteROCK VS AUSTIN MAIN EVENT. Screw the rest of the roster.
ReplyDeleteThat stat jumped the shark when Backlund broke the longevity record by spending most of his time on his back on the floor.
ReplyDeletegive the nxt guys a payday
ReplyDeleteHow long did they get in the last 40man rumble between entrances. 1minute, or 90 seconds?
ReplyDeleteHey, you try popping back up from a Giant Gonzalez beatdown! Just try!!
ReplyDeleteI see your point, but Del Rio was very unestablished at that time and it could have really helped him to have a stronger showing than he did. Even if he just had a strong 10 minute final sequence with someone like Orton.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for the Rumble where everyone finally realizes that it's stupid to stay in the ring, and just rolls out to the floor.
ReplyDeleteHey, he survived the Cobra! What more can you ask for?
ReplyDelete40. Because it worked so well the first time.
ReplyDeleteFuck.
I would. But he's, like, you know, dead.
ReplyDeleteAgree, what's the point when there are maybe 3 guys that could conceivably win it.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot Sheamus vs. Bryan, which I believe was the rumor.
ReplyDeleteSure it's close, but the guy who won the main event in April (and was the centerpiece of the whole show) wasn't even in the main event in October. I'd say that's a HUGE change.
They weren't in the main event?
ReplyDeleteI kind of remember a 3rd guy in there, that slightly changed the dynamic of the entire show...
ReplyDeleteThe average is still less than 30, on account of that time that Randy Savage skipped out on the match.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember who the other two guys Bryan wrestled in the main event were? Can you tell me?
ReplyDeleteWoah, easy there, you almost criticized WWE! Do you feel light headed? Do you need to sit down?
ReplyDeleteWho did undertaker and Cena wrestle? Was it each other?
ReplyDeleteGuess: The Rumble is 30 WWE guys and 10 NXT guys.
ReplyDeleteNNEERRRDDDD!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was going to look up the referee, but decided it wasn't worth it
ReplyDeleteCorrectly predicting 2 out of 4 matches isn't "nailing" it.
ReplyDeleteIf it gives the NXT show some "fight for a Rumble spot" matches, that could be cool.
ReplyDeleteOf course, not a single NXT guy will look like anything more than deadweight for a guy like Reigns to eliminate, so it's kind of pointless.
According to Shoemaker, in the fall, the plan was to have a screwy finish to the TLC match, and then unify the titles for real at 30 with a Cena vs Orton rematch.
ReplyDeletefollowed by the cage match where they just skip the fighting and climb the wall
ReplyDeleteand the guy who brings a shot gun to a No DQ anything goes match
ReplyDeleteWhich one would have been Vince's Avatar? And Hunter's?
ReplyDeleteThat's ok, as long as it happens outside the ring. #SummerSlam1989
ReplyDeleteConsidering he mostly nailed the main event and that punk was still there at that time I'd say that's excellent for a October "prediction"
ReplyDeleteBut it can't be seen as a "set in stone fact". That is what I am saying. Zero conclusions can be drawn from "WWE might have the main event decided 6 months prior to WM.". It means ZERO.
ReplyDeleteYeah, especially considering how many times in Mania history that the main event had been changed a few months/weeks ahead of time.
ReplyDeleteHogan/Flair at Mania 7?
Shawn/Bret rematch at Mania 13?
Austin/Rock/Mankind at Mania 15?
Hogan/Austin at Mania 18?
Those are just off the top of my head.
I'm sure if it happens, HHH will make sure those guys look good.
ReplyDeleteIt was actually cool, except Alberto Del Rio was the winner.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Sami Zayn will steal the show. Last year, they made a huge stink about Rusez and he did absolutely nothing in the match.
ReplyDeleteOrton/HHH seemed like the plan going into WM 21. They ended up blowing it off at the Rumble.
ReplyDeleteAnd Cena/HHH rematch at WM 23, until HHH got injured.
His contribution was placing Kofi safely on the railing, so he can do his yearly crazy spot.
ReplyDeleteIt was awesome at the time. He was still in the midst of a super push. It's only when Both Edge and Christian beat him back to back months starting at WM 27 that interest started to fade. He was on fire before that.
ReplyDeleteHow much would you like to bet that the Bunny gets a spot in the Rumble??
ReplyDeleteYour tone seems to be implying that this would be something other than awesome...
ReplyDeleteForbes ranked WrestleMania as the 8th most valuable sports brand out of 40, it was worth 105 million in 2014.
ReplyDeleteOnly if all the Rosebuds keep catching him when he's thrown out.
ReplyDeleteGive the bunny a story line where he slowly goes form being a goofy cheerleader to a sort of deranged killer rabbit and they could find stuff for him to do for years
ReplyDeleteok, that's a pretty good idea
ReplyDeleteYep, this simply needs to happen, either for Rose, or the Bunny. I remember we were all disappointed when he wasn't in that IC battle royale a few months back.
ReplyDeleteTHAT would make it totally worth it.. but they should save that idea for Adam Rose.. if they don't give up on him totally by then.
ReplyDeleteLeast most valuable brand: SummerFest
ReplyDeleteHow do they define what a "sports brand" is? Is the NFL a brand, or is it like an event - like the Superbowl?
ReplyDeleteOr have the bunny turn on Rose and throw him out.
ReplyDeleteJBL was in last year. Maybe he can be in it again, and we finally have the epic JBL/Bunny showdown?
ReplyDeleteWorld Series of Horseshoes
ReplyDeleteSpecial Olympic MMA title match
Women's Hide and Seek World Championship Tournament
Whatever the fuck Jai -Alia is supposed to be semi-finals
You got enough part timers that it made it fun like Nash and Booker. Booker may have been the MVP of that Rumble actually.
ReplyDeleteOther good examples. I wouldn't be surprised if at least 1/3 of the WrestleManias had their penciled-in main events changed within 3 months before Mania.
ReplyDeleteWrong.
ReplyDeleteTNA Bound for Glory.
Rooted for both E and C in their matches against ADR.
ReplyDeleteThe main event of Wrestlemania XXXI: Vince vs. Triple H with Stephanie McMahon standing on the apron and shooting everyone the bird the whole time.
ReplyDeleteProbably in the red lol.
ReplyDelete"You're even DUMBER than Monsoon!!!"
ReplyDeleteHey, Tyler Reks got paid!
ReplyDeleteI was MARKING OUT, BRO!
ReplyDeleteAs you should do when it comes to heels.
ReplyDeleteThe Bunny definitely has a much better chance of being around for the Rumble than Adam Rose.
ReplyDeleteAfter Monday, I'm betting we're close to job out time for Shitty Russel Brand.
The point is the penciled-in Orton vs. Batista main event ended up being changed by ADDING THE GUY WHO WON THE MATCH. You know, the guy who ended up being the centerpiece of the ENTIRE show. If you don't think that is a significant change, I don't know what to tell you.
ReplyDeleteOut of the 5 WM30 matches that were "set in stone" in October 2013, only 2 out of 5 of them happened as stated. All the rest were changed based on events surrounding Punk and Bryan.
Who's to say that whatever is "set in stone" now for WM31 isn't going to change by April? As Vince Jordan and I keep pointing out, there have been MANY WrestleManias whose main events were changed from WWF/E expected them to be in advance for various reasons.
Hell, I had heard rumors that Vince wanted Hogan vs Zeus for WM 6 for a while.
ReplyDelete40's a lot of people. So let's just assume Sting, Goldberg, Austin and Punk are in there to make up the numbers.
ReplyDeleteThere were also Hogan/Warrior II rumors for Mania 7.
ReplyDeleteChyna was a woman. Let’s disqualify her too.
ReplyDeletewell..................
ReplyDeleteNo space for Colette or Nicole?
ReplyDeleteOh, and CANE DEWEY!
Royal Rumble with 40 men? Get ready for a Roman Reigns super run, bell to bell. LEL
ReplyDeleteNone of those were set in stone matches apart from Shawn/Bret, and that only didn't happen because of an "injury".
ReplyDeleteNo the point is Meltzer is able to paint a picture based off the best available information on what the main card will look like 6 months out. We're all human beings that live on planet earth so we all know things can change and happen. But Meltzer is offering you a picture of what it looks like now. People who bitch and complain about what he says are ridiculous. He obviously knows what's he talking about based on a 30 year track record. Saying that his predictions last year weren't very good is silly. If some people don't want to know what's going on until everything is set in stone that's fine. Others of us want to know what the picture looks like now.
ReplyDeleteBut everyone knows the plans were changed based on the reactions at the Rumble, don't they? So Bryan bails on the Wyatts, and is put into the main event and also taking the place of Punk, who quit. I thought this was a known known.
ReplyDeleteWell WM 31 is not set in stone either. That is our entire point, that people just don't seem to understand.
ReplyDeleteMy making fun of the Meltzer rumors is really divided as:
ReplyDelete20% mocking Meltzer
80% mocking those who take his word as gospel, EVERY SINGLE TIME.
40 Man Rumble?
ReplyDeleteThe ADR burial begins?
Would you accept "set in erasable ink"?
ReplyDelete40 British pounds is about $64. I doubt that SSW have got that kind of money to be spending on chains.
ReplyDeleteMeltzer's a really good reporter and wrestling analyst. Acknowledging that is something that needs to be lamely mocked.
ReplyDeleteHerb Kunze tibit perusing Vince?
ReplyDeleteI like Meltzer for his analysis, and his radio shows. I don’t
ReplyDeleteexpect him to predict things, especially with how changeable WWE are, nor do I
particularly want him to spoil everything going forward.
He doesn't have a crystal ball dude. And he's a covering a notoriously secret industry. He does a great job.
ReplyDelete#BELIVETHATLOL
ReplyDeleteCar salesman from Family matters "The price isn't written in ink, it's written in shoe polish!"
ReplyDeleteThey can debut a new wrestler from...uhhh...BULGARIA and talk about him like he's some strong man and have him put on a good showing for a new wrestler. Then a few months later he can be from RUSSIA and no one will no the difference!
ReplyDeleteMore like a big Fuck You to Rey Mysterio - someone is lasting 1:03 to break the record.
ReplyDeleteDepending on the chain, I could see it being close to that number actually.
ReplyDeleteI should have written ETCHED IN STONE. But that Meltzer plan for Mania seems very credible since the only variable factors are Punk quitting, and the fanbases rejection of Batista and support for Bryan changing things. Otherwise I'm sure it would have been dead on.
ReplyDeleteWWE absolutely deserved that shitty rating based on the kinds of shows they've been putting on. I love the Ambrose/Rollins/Cena stuff, but aside from that the entire product is an absolute mess right now. You can't expect to keep an audience with three hours of midgets, Bellas, and a roster of un-over heatless wrestlers having none feuds and meaningless matches, complete with an announcing team that have been impossible to enjoy for years now.
ReplyDeleteThe TV rating should be lower next week, and lower the week after that, until they really overhaul some shit in a major way.
I think he was still the "Bulgarian brute" during his promos/vignettes right? I think he's more sold as a Russian supporter.
ReplyDeleteI'm not taking issue with Meltzer at all, I'm taking issue with the idea that WWE having the main event of Mania 31 set as "news"... especially when Meltzer doesn't even say WHAT that planned main event is. So you're not even getting "what the picture looks like now", you're getting "there's a picture, but I don't know what is yet".
ReplyDeleteThe point I'm making is that no matter what WWE decides as the Mania card NOW -- more than five months away -- can easily change based on a ton of factors. There have been several instances of that happening, and Mania 30 is a perfect example of how two major factors (Punk, Bryan) significantly changed the plan.
A 2.6 normally means VINCE RETURNS the following week, right?
ReplyDelete*BO-LIEVE
ReplyDeleteIt is funny that they picked up viewers throughout the show...
ReplyDeleteOh right. Ambrose = Ratingz fail!!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to get it soon.
ReplyDeleteThing is, the ratings haven't been fluctuating that much in the past few years. You have your outliers of course, but for the most part 2.7-3.1 seems to be where they are at no matter what shit they put on.
ReplyDeleteSo you're saying that the plan was changed, right?
ReplyDeleteI fail to see where the argument lies. What was the planned card in October was significantly changed from what we got in April. The End.
That is the actual odd thing. Normally they lose viewers. I'm sure ROCK showing up had people turning in to see if he'd show up again.
ReplyDeleteWe seem to not be arguing about the same thing here.
ReplyDeleteI just like mocking people who tie their shorts in a knot, always assuming that any Meltzer rumor is a stone cold fact. Instead of taking it with a grain of salt. Sort of like, instead of "Man, this would suck, I hope it isn't true", they basically go "FUCK THIS COMPANY, I HATE THEM, THEY NEED TO DIE FOR HAVING DONE THIS." Um.... It's a rumor people.. CHILL!
It basically seems like (to piggy back of Petrie's post yesterday) raw is not designed to be a show you're supposed to watch from start to finish. Somehow I think you're only supposed to watch certain segments or hours and not a whole show. Not sure why but that seems to be the deal.
ReplyDeleteThats a good point as well.
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking of striking ADR from the books as the guy who won the biggest Rumble ever.
But the time record is one as well.
WWE is petty like that.
Lesnar youngest champ > Orton beats Benoit for title.
Has Raw been under a 3 rating in these last few years? I haven't really paid attention but below 3 definitely caught my attention.
ReplyDeleteIf that brief tidbit about them having the WM main event planned out is the case, then they might actually be able to start some planning for that and give the show a direction because what they are doing now is not working.
ReplyDeleteGhana, Jamaica, Bulgaria, Russia, Iraq, Iran, these are all basically the same countries. Don't worry about it.
ReplyDeleteNo she wasn't!
ReplyDeleteAnd other people's point is... "Yes, obviously, no fucking shit genius." We all understand that plans change. The Meltzer reports are pretty much him saying that based on what he's heard, these are the plans now. Sometimes those plans change completely, sometimes they change less completely (adding Bryan to the Batista/Orton match), and sometimes they end up staying the same. (Cena/Bray being the plan from October 2013, even though that would seem insane at the time.)
ReplyDeleteYES, plans change. That's the nature of reporting--- you report the information that is available at the time, not create a time machine to travel into the future and come back to tell everyone what happened. Everyone gets that, you're arguing against the wind buddy.
Usually around fall they are.
ReplyDeleteI'd say his #30 death slot last year was a big enough F*CK YOU, intentional or not.
ReplyDeleteRe: Bischoff shoot.
ReplyDeleteIt is very long. 4:21 but if you want to get a business perspective of WCW at its height, with names and trying to connect the dots, I feel it is top notch.
He doesn't go into business and he really doesn't talk about TNA. Its mainly AWA-WWE timeline of his career but I think its very good.
The RSS issues in the headline from f4w made me laugh for some reason.
ReplyDeleteThey've been under 3 more often than over three this year, IIRC.
ReplyDeleteSo you're saying during this season, the ratings... FALL....
ReplyDelete#caruso/sunglasses
It's Brock vs Rock for the title. Rock the conquering hero coming in to defeat Brock and restore order to the WWE. Retiring with the belt and a tournament will be held on Raw to determine a new champ with Rock working as guest referee for the championship match and holding Roman Reigns hand high in a very lack luster torch passing moment that will do very little for Reigns long term.
ReplyDeleteHeath Slater. I'm calling it. Then he gets eliminated by the Bunny.
ReplyDeleteGood point
ReplyDeleteThey've hardly ever been over a 3.0 the last few years. Its been a steady 2.8 for a while.
ReplyDeleteI heard that he was not legally allowed to speak about TNA for that shoot but I am not sure if that is the case.
ReplyDeleteI'm arguing against people who don't understand that Rumor = Rumor. Not Rumor = Fact.
ReplyDeleteOkay cool, fair enough.
ReplyDelete90% of the weekly show being terrible equals ratings fail.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't on any one wrestler--- and that's not a cover for Ambrose/Rollins, as HHH/Steph and John Cena (and Orton) are all intertwined into their main event storyline.
It's getting to a point where most of the time a viewer tunes into Raw these days, and chances are the thing onscreen is terrible and heatless. The majority of the current roster and feuds (are there even feuds right now besides the main event one?) are just not over with the audience. That's a problem, and it's reflecting itself in the ratings right now.
Wasn't Nitro still pulling 2.5 in their dying days?
ReplyDeleteAh okay, well I hadn't heard the Russo thing.
ReplyDeleteThe Hogan/Flair thing was part of an angle. It was never the main event. The angle was that Sid got jealous that Hogan got the shot, turned on Hogan, and Hogan then demanded revenge against Sid instead of the title shot. Hogan was never getting the title shot because Hogan was leaving.
Ha, that's exactly the shitty idea that SK thought they should run with coming out of Wrestlemania 28.
ReplyDeleteHe said the same whenever he is on a podcast.
ReplyDeleteI made you another offer for MacKinnion.
ReplyDeleteIt's bizarre that Brock Lesnar or the title (aside from Cena being mad at Rollins) basically hasn't been mentioned since NoC. I was all for giving Brock the belt and going back to the old days model of paying to see teh champ wrestle, but this is just about the laziest way to go about it. Three hours to fill each week, and they can't do video remotes with Brock from his house? Have Heyman cut a promo live? Have a tournament to determine his next challenger?
ReplyDeleteThere really is zero momentum from week to week right now other than Ambrose/Cena/Rollins.
wow... thats intriguing
ReplyDeletedid you get my email
I saw that.
ReplyDeleteMacKinnon is awesome and I really do not want to part with him. I expect him to finish as a top 10 guy. I might have overdrafted him (3rd round) but I am a huge fan.
Let's count the 40...
ReplyDeleteCena - 1
Orton
Kane
Rollins
Ambrose - 5
Sheamus
Cesaro
Miz
Sandow
Ziggler - 10
Big Show
Jay Uso
Jimmy Uso
Stardust
Goldust - 25
Bray Wyatt
Erik Rowen
Luke Harper
Heath Slater
Titus O'Neil - 20
Tyson Kidd
Khali
Mark Henry
Ryback
Curtis Axel - 25
Big E
Kofi
Xavier Woods
R-Truth
Fandango - 30
Adam Rose
Injured, unsure of status
Daniel Bryan
Bad News Barrett
Roman Reigns
That's 34, with 3 injured wrestlers. I'm sure I missed a few, but that's still not 40. This is also assuming some wrestlers are pulling double-duty.
So at least 5 spots needs to be filled by Legends, comebacks, NXT, or other new wrestlers.
40...seems like a bad idea.
I did.
ReplyDeleteI am going to respond soon. I didn't have the time yesterday to give it a proper response as I was thinking stuff over.
But hey, business is a boomin'! No need to turn Cena heel, create new stars, or overhaul the creative!
ReplyDeleteThe Cena/Ambrose/Rollins stuff is just not working, IMO. I'm not faulting the guys involved either. Creative needs to come up with better stuff for their workers.
ReplyDeleteIn a better world they use James Kochalka's "Egg Hunt" as his theme.
ReplyDeleteHippity hoppity bunny rabbit i've got a heroin habit
So bizarre. There’s not a single other TV show on the planet
ReplyDeletethat acts like this.
Sounds shady.
ReplyDeleteI missed the draft, not a fan of my team, been trying to make trades. My D sucks. Are you willing to trade Quick? 4 goalies is overkill.
ReplyDeleteNew tag team with Rowan who now wears the goat mask while wrestling.
ReplyDeletewow, I hope you're trolling. Cause all of that is very stupid. Every single part.
ReplyDeleteYeah the show is definitely designed to be watched via DVR or next day on Hulu. Which is fine for me, I never turn the thing on at 8pm, but the last few months there's becoming less and less to even watch at all. It's really down to a handful of watchable to good segments, which distributed across 3 hours of content is a real problem.
ReplyDeleteWith the talent on this roster there's no reason the batting average should be this low. And a show like what they put on this past Monday is just unforgivable. Had they not pulled that Rock moment out of their asses, that really would have ended up one of the worst 3-hour shows they've ever done.
I love having a good goalie and every year someone I draft gets hurt. But I will take offers for him or Bernier.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that right now, they wanna focus on what's actually coming up next PPV. Instead of putting tons of attention on "The champ will NOT be at the next PPV, now buy it!! "
ReplyDeleteBo,Swagger, maybe Batista. But yeah, bad lineup.
ReplyDeleteBIG PLANS
ReplyDeleteCreating new stars is bad?
ReplyDeleteHow come we can't put players on IR?
ReplyDeleteI should have turned my "joking/sarcastic" light on. My bad.
ReplyDeleteCreative is so bad right now.
ReplyDeleteFinal Nitro pulled a 3.0, the previous two months (Feb/Mar 01) were in the 2.0/2.1 range. Jan 29 pulled a 2.6, and their last 3+ not counting the finale was Sept 11 2000, at a 3.2.
ReplyDeleteIn WWE's defense, their 2.6 is a bit more impressive than WCW 2000-01's 2.6, because the cable universe is larger now.
"It's gone PLAID!!"
ReplyDeleteTeam The Petting Zoo
ReplyDeleteIt's Vince's job to defend WWE to the death and reject evidence of any struggles they may be having.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with interjecting Cena is that it's just impossible to buy his motivation at all. The audience is all in on wanting to see Ambrose fucking kill Rollins--- that hate seems real. But Cena cares just as much? Why, because Rollins caused a DQ and cost Cena his chance at his 100th WWE title? It just isn't ringing true, and therefore Cena comes off as an annoying tool everytime he screws things up for Ambrose.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'm still overall enjoying that one feud fine, as all three guys have been very good and the mini tournament format for HiaC intrigues me.
Everything else though has devolved into a giant mess.
Implying that WWE is in a WCW 2001 state due to ratings, when the TV structure is completely different (literally hundreds more channels, plus tons of internet/streaming/DVR options). It's just an absurd comparison.
ReplyDeleteWhat would you want for Larsson, Josi, and Quick? I'm willing to trade anyone not named Malkin, Kessell, or Kopitar.
ReplyDeleteI don't even care if they turn Cena heel - keep him a face if you want but at least freshen him up a little bit. He hasn't changed in a decade (theme music, style, ring gear, anything at all) and every week he has that goddamn smug smile on his face.
ReplyDeleteHuh, never heard that before. Okay, if true we can take that off the list.
ReplyDeleteThere are still other examples (Vince Jordan pointed out that HHH/Cena rematch was supposed to headline Mania 23, but HHH's injury in January derailed plans) where Mania plans were changed. It happens, and can always happen again. And stuff like Hogan/Austin at Mania 18 are matches that were definitely proposed and didn't happen -- so not set in stone, but were part of the plan at some point.
Sorry, but Torito and Hornswoggle have spots in there. Because comedy makes Michael Cole laugh.
