Bayless is out, so I guess I'm overseeing the Wednesday/TNA thread also. So here is what is crackin' tonight:
TNA iMPACT is on Spike at 9/8c. On tap is a contract signing between Bobby Roode and Bobby Lashley; an eight team #1 contender tournament gets underway as well.
WWE Network - Total Divas at 8/7c; back-to-back episodes of Monday Nitro beginning at 9/8c with episodes from 1/22/96 and 1/29/96/
World Series Game 2 between the Giants and Royals, Giants up 1-0. The pitching match will be Jake Peavy and Yordany Ventura.
NHL action, NBA preseason, and TV such as Survivor and Arrow.
You don't necessarily have to keep it clean (like you would anyway).

Smells like leftover farts in here.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else see the Avengers 2 trailer? Looked pretty good. Spader sounded awesome as Ultron.
ReplyDeleteThat's me. I'm pulling an Abeyance and posting from the inner sanctum
ReplyDeleteHEY JOBBER
ReplyDeleteWork dat azz your magic and give us another topic
I'll be watching yesterday's Flash tonight, while I chow down on the delicious meal my girlfriend made me. Had to go out and take pictures at a function right after work, so my long day got a little bit longer.
ReplyDeleteFARTS
ReplyDeleteYou know, there was a reason I avoided the update thread this morning. Don't make me leave the evening edition, too.
ReplyDeleteI thought we had a bit more class in the evenings.
You're in for a treat. It was kind of corny, with too much on-the-nose dialogue, but it was still a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteEverytime I see TNA's current X-division belt,it makes me wanna see their old school design of the X-division back
ReplyDeleteWe're ladies of the night, but with dudes
ReplyDeleteThe X Division belt is virtually indistinguishable from the NXT belt.
ReplyDeleteIt can be the 2004 design too.
ReplyDeleteMy Spanish teacher in high school used to call the girls in the class "Chicas de la Noche." I don't think she'd be able to get away with that these days.
ReplyDeleteSetup my Wii U for the first time today and downloaded the Bayonetta 2 demo. Holy shit this console is fun.
ReplyDeleteAny of the two. The current one looks like dump.
ReplyDeleteTwo weeks until my birthday. Hoping to have one by the end of that weekend. Took the Friday and Monday after my birthday off, so I'll have plenty of time to play.
ReplyDeleteand bring back the TV to EC3, HTM reign booking please.
ReplyDeleteNice. What games are you going to get?
ReplyDeleteGood for you.
ReplyDeleteI love a good crunchy back crack
ReplyDeleteI'm not sold on it the way I am Arrow yet, but I'm definitely willing to hang in there.
ReplyDeleteToo late for HTM reign for EC3. Let him challenge for the World title next year
ReplyDelete(Pittsburgh)
ReplyDeleteYou know that popping sound you hear is air, right?
ReplyDeleteYou know, this feels sarcastic, but the language barrier may just be confusing my sarcasta-sensor. So, barring any real knowledge, I shall just say, "Thank you, sir."
ReplyDeleteI got the same impression, lol
ReplyDeleteNo sarcasm, I'm just saying like, cool stuff. And have fun in the next 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteNitrogen or whatever
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to load up on Mario games - Mario Kart, 3D World, Mario Bros, etc. I'll get Smash Bros. when it comes out, too. Girlfriend wants me to find something like the last-gen Wii Sports Resort, because she had a lot of fun with that.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Good times!
ReplyDeleteI miss this type of booking on secondary champions. Bo Dallas would be perfect for this role, if he was undefeated he should've won the IC in Battleground, then defended like HTM until SurSer where Roman returns and squashes him.
ReplyDeleteGood selection. I bought 3D World and Zelda; Wind Waker for my first two games...they arrive tomorrow. I'll def. be getting Smash bros too.
ReplyDeleteYour GF sounds like the perfect woman. Plays games, lawyer, cooks...
Raw is coming Dec 8. I was thinking about going until I saw the preview
ReplyDeleteRAW Main Event: John Cena and Dean Ambrose vs Money in the Bank Contract Winner Seth Rollins and Kane.
Plus, you’ll see WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, WWE COO Triple H…AND The Slammy Awards will take place live in Greenville!
Never told this, but you look like a pimp in your avatar picture.
ReplyDeleteGood to have a lawyer girlfriend, she'll take off you from jail. The bad, she'll take everything in the divorce.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't ACTUALLY play games, but the Wii Sports stuff was easy enough for her to get into and enjoy. Anything more than that and she kind of glazes over and starts mashing buttons.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, yes, she is the perfect woman.
I liked the "I've Got No Strings" song in the trailer. Very spooky.
ReplyDeleteBatman/Superman is going to have a huge mountain to climb, because it's going to be compared to this and the first Avengers even if it warrants it or not.
WWE is pooping the bed by not elevating the US and IC titles while Brock is gone. STUPID STUPID.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on Bo. The guy was getting over then they jobbed him.
Which is a bit weird, as I'm speaking at the pulpit of a church.
ReplyDeleteThey did the Slammies in Philly once, and gave the Wrestler of the Year to John Cena.
ReplyDeleteThe same year he was supposed to be having the "worst year of his career".
For Brock alone I would go.
ReplyDeleteHe had potential of being a new HTM. Hell, let him be southern heel in some aspects, these heels needs to cheat like desperate men.
ReplyDeleteI want to go for that reason alone but the Slammys and Cena/Ambrose STILL feuding with the Authority? for real?
ReplyDeleteIt looks more like you in a Pimp Seminar.
ReplyDeleteI love a good elbow crack
ReplyDeleteSomehow the trailer hasn't been pulled yet. Here it is if you haven't seen it yet:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dailymotion.com/video/x28g8nh_ap-tlr-1-int-360p_creation
If Brock Kills someone I'll go. I'll take a plane and go there.
ReplyDeleteI'm listening to the 1988 Grammy award winner for Best Metal/Hard Rock.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, Jethro Tull's Crest of a Knave
Gina's dad cracked Martin's back one time
ReplyDeleteYo, Scotty! Doubling my pay only puts me in the working class income bracket. I need quadruple or I write up a stream-of-consciousness style review of Heroes of Wrestling!
ReplyDeleteI won't be able to play along - never watched the show
ReplyDeleteMore discussion needs to happen about the Avengers trailer that leaked.
ReplyDeleteGuess I'll wait and see what happens on the Raw before this to see where everything is heading. I really can't understand why Brock would be there.
ReplyDeleteThey'll be showing it next week on Agents of SHIELD
ReplyDeleteahhhhhhhhhh man down
ReplyDeleteVIKING SPACE LORD DEMANDS SACRIFICES IN HIS NAME.
ReplyDeleteBecause the WWE wants its fans to believe the Slammys are a big deal. It's supposed to be a big night, so they make sure the champ is in the house.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't the same once Martin left WZUP.
ReplyDeleteLoved me some Living Single and that petite cutie Regine, though.
Ah, makes sense, except for the part of them putting on a big show in South Carolina.
ReplyDeleteHEY THE KID

ReplyDeleteThe schedule sometimes takes you strange places, my good man.
ReplyDeleteOn the one hand, the show had Queen LaBAMfah and Tootie and Kim Cole
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand... Cousin Pam
I thought the show jumped once Martin became executive producer. I think that was season 4.
ReplyDeleteRegine was just...yeah. She could get it.
Where's a Dangerous meeting, that song is a classic.
ReplyDeleteIt won't play!
ReplyDeleteYou're gonna start making demands when I'M the most MUST-SEE poster on the Blog of Doom? Really? Really?
ReplyDeleteNo one will even bother to click on that review! Not even Abey, and he checks out EVERYTHING!
Mah ninja.
ReplyDeleteI need release methane gas from my ass.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's one of my favs. But at least we got Come to the Sabbath from that album
ReplyDeleteAm I the only guy that found Queen Latifah attractive? Probably am but whatevs
ReplyDeleteWorks for me
ReplyDeleteDAT'S WHAT AHM SAYIN'
ReplyDeleteHe also forgot The Oath.
ReplyDeleteI just put on the Network. Total Divas is on. It was worth watching to check out Nikki in a sundress for ten seconds. I'll switch back at 9pm for Nitro.
ReplyDeleteoh oh gotcha.
ReplyDeleteThey must think they'll get the right response.
ReplyDeleteI saw parts of Brining' Down the House, and when she shook what God gave her...?
ReplyDeleteDAYUM
People actually watch the live stream for something other than a PPV?
ReplyDeleteThen I also saw Set It Off, and I wouldn't want to mess with her
ReplyDeleteman sit your ass down
ReplyDeleteftfy
Dammit Gunther, you just made me realize I'm in the middle of one of my worst dry runs ever.
ReplyDeleteWell, it was a King Diamond show
ReplyDeleteI think they will. It's a crowd that generally plays along. It's still 50/50 for Cena and 100/0 for Randy Orton but everyone else gets the conditioned response.
ReplyDeleteHow much time?
ReplyDeleteYes. Main Event, Superstars, the occasional classic PPV.....
ReplyDeleteDidn't know we had a cow amongst us.
ReplyDeleteMOOOO, good sir!
I didn't find her all that attractive on Living Single...but there was a time a few years back when girl was looking good.
ReplyDeleteCousin Pam was good on Living Single...almost makes up for that crime against humanity she perpetrated on the Cosby Show.
ReplyDeleteShe was in some movie where she worked at the salon. Yes sir. It was a straight-to-dvd so I don't know the name of it.
ReplyDeleteNo sympathy, sorry
ReplyDeleteMy dry run outdoes everyone here
There's always someone watching a train wreck.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had sex since June.
ReplyDeleteI haven't a succesful date since... hmmm... well, I considered the last few successful but then they never went anywhere afterwards.
dem jugs man. Just wanted to lay on dem juggs
ReplyDeleteI always watch those on demand later...
ReplyDeleteI dunno, I thought even on LS she was grating
ReplyDeleteShe's got good comedic timing. Shame she never got another shot at anything.
ReplyDeleteDamn, dude.
ReplyDeleteWell, I was in a 2 year dry run. Now I'm going out with this girl, but I still had sex with her.
ReplyDeleteYA KNOW AH MEAN?!
ReplyDeleteSlap me some skin on that
Keep hope alive, brother. Keep your junk in good shape because you never know when you'll be pressed back into service. Kegels and edging.
ReplyDeletereal talk son
ReplyDeleteShut up Meekin
ReplyDeleteyeah I don't get that either. Heck I don't even watch the ppvs live. I usually start them an hour or so later (if I'm home) so I can FF through the diva match
ReplyDeleteI don't know if they'll quite go that far, but I feel there probably will be at least one major setback for Alex this year before she graduates and goes to college. At the very least, a meltdown that makes last year's birthday party outburst look like a yoga session (she came close on opening night when her family tried to send her away for "ruining" their perfect summer).
ReplyDeleteDont be such a jock ass....
ReplyDeleteNot at all. You're putting words into my mouth
ReplyDeleteUpcoming for Scott Steiner the Science Guy.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see them make an original hour-long show of Mr T talking about his Momma.
ReplyDeleteIt's the harley and me and you and the tree.
ReplyDeleteUnless they had footage of he and Martel vs. The Moondogs.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only person who didn't find Puppet H all that funny?
ReplyDeleteJust you.. and HHH
ReplyDeleteAlso, what about a cooking show?
ReplyDeletePunch yourself in the dick if that took you more than three seconds.
I really like the Celebrity Tough Enough idea, too. At least Hogan's show brought Trishelle back into my life. Mmmm. Was she on Miz's Real World season? Fucker probably had her, too.
ReplyDeleteMan I don't even know what we're arguing about anymore. Rebooking the Invasion?
ReplyDeleteI used to love when Monsoon would rag on Goulet when he'd be out breaking up a fight. Seemed completely out of left field but genuine.
ReplyDeleteToo bad Big Bossman is not around to give us his recipe for 'Fried Pepper'.
ReplyDeleteIn the matches you mentioned above, do you notice a pattern? Bulldog never lost a singles match in almost 2 years. He was a midcarder/UK special attraction yes, but the guy was always protected because the bookers probably knew that one day they wanted to push the guy as a main eventer. Sure Bulldog was beating nobodies, but the fact he never lost made Bulldog a winner. Look at Goldberg, he was beating Jerry Flynn 80 weeks in a row and all of a sudden beating Hogan for the WCW title, Ryback was beating no name jobbers every week and all of a sudden was considered as guy to end CM Punk's lengthly title reign.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else around this period was given a similar push and that was the Undertaker, he was pushed as a midcarder/special attraction too, won most of his matches, and he was protected because the bookers knew one day that Underaker would be given a main event run.
And Bulldog was given a main event run in WCW. I'm not saying it worked and drew lots of money because it didn't, but Bulldog was a big name and was credible enough to be slotted in a main event program during the filler months.
And I'm not saying there was a chance of Bulldog turning heel and challenging Hogan or Warrior, I know Bulldog wasn't considered for a main event push around that time. I'm just saying if Vince had decided to give Bulldog a main event run back then, it would have worked. It wouldn't have drew lots of money or anything but Bulldog was credible enough to pose as a small threat to the big stars and to keep them busy for a few months.
I agree with your point.
ReplyDeleteLol my bad
ReplyDeleteDespite all the discussion and wishes for things that could/should be added and why it's failing (not enough "Attitude Era" Raw, no vintage stuff like WCW Saturday Night, etc.), I think most people are missing the obvious: People aren't buying the Network because the current product/PPVs suck.
ReplyDeleteOld episodes of "Hardcore TV" or whatever isn't what's going to get people to sign-up en masse, it's giving us good PPVs that people are willing to pay $10 for. That's the whole problem with their "it's only $10, you cheap fuckers" strategy - it's not the price, but the value. Just a few months ago, you had a to pay $60 to watch a PPV, giving them away for 1/6 the price would SEEM like an absolute slam-dunk way of giving people what they want, except that the PPVs are so bad that many people aren't even willing to drop TEN dollars on them.
Think about that. The main draw of the network isn't the old stuff, that's just supplemental, it's there to fill the gaps between PPVs and seem like you're getting a world of stuff over and above the PPVs themselves. People that want to watch that have a billion different DVDs, tapes, and free online videos to choose from. Hell, the company gives a ton of that stuff away for free on their own website and on Youtube! They give it away FOR FREE, there's really NO reason to pay a monthly subscription for any of the archive.
The current PPVs, though... THAT'S the draw. That's what everyone was excited about. And you want to know why the network hasn't gone over like gangbusters? Because most of the current PPVs are so bad that people don't even view them as being worth $10. It's one thing to think the shows aren't worth $60, but to think they aren't worth $10??!!
It's simple. The reason the network is failing is because their current product is so bad. Sure, I still watch out of habit and devotion, and I'll gladly hand over $10 per month for a pretty "meh" product because that's just the kind of ridiculous super-fan that I am (same reason I stuck around for all of "Smallville" and "Dexter", even though the quality had bottomed-out years earlier), but most people aren't willing to do the same.
It's like someone has to put a big flashing neon sign in front of Vince that connects the dots: "CRAPPY PRODUCT = CRAPPY SUBSCRIPTION RATES".
I completely agree and wish I could up vote 500x. I can't justify giving a company money these days that is so contemptuous of its audience.
ReplyDeleteTV-PG isn't even the problem. We got great storylines in the Hogan era. This company is just afraid to take any risks, give a rocket push to multiple guys, and is running the same old authority angle from SIXTEEN years ago with a guy that is nowhere near as popular or well known as Steve Austin. You can't run the same match on RAW four times in a month and then expect people to pay $10 to watch it on the Network again either.
While I'd be lying if I said that I don't miss the occasional blade-job or crazy bump (in the proper context), the whole "TV-PG is killing the company" is such a lazy bullshit argument. Hell, the problem is that - most of the time - it's not even TV-PG most of the time, that would imply at least a bit of maturity in the audience and even the weakest attempt at continuity and logic. Out of a three-hour "Raw", about 2.5 hours is making goofy faces at a newborn.
ReplyDeleteDid you see Modern Family tonight? I might not have been that far off.
ReplyDeleteStuff just seems overly sanitized now. It's like I'm watching a politically correct, corporate version of wrestling and that's why it sucks. I guess that's just a reflection our uninteresting culture at the moment,
ReplyDeleteGood point.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's because I'm a crotchety old man now, but culture and society do seem pretty bland now. The eighties were over-the-top and colorful, the nineties were gritty and industrial, and the present is just one big generic pop song.
Of course, that's just me speaking as a middle-class white guy, obviously there are still plenty of big issues around the world for people less fortunate than I.
If Phil's nemesis Gil was selling that house you might have nailed it - I could see Gil selling it to a meth addict just because...
ReplyDeleteAt this point, they just need to make the current product better and as far as archives go, put some more variety in there and have a little something for everybody.
ReplyDeleteI liken it to the problems Cinemax currently has; Back in the 1990's, Cinemax had an insanely high subscriber base because they had a mix of everything: classic movies dating back to the 1940's, new blockbusters, tons of cult horror and straight to video action movies, foreign films, softcore porn, erotic thrillers, documentaries, no same day repeats and best of all, genuine first run premieres (not like the so-called premieres they have today of films that already premiered on HBO two months earlier).
Fast forward twenty years later: Cinemax got rid of all of that and whaddaya know, their subscriber base has been dropping like flies for the past decade and now they seem to think that reducing the lineups to the same overplayed to death blockbusters and a few shows that weren't good enough to make it onto HBO's main lineup will cure their woes when they would be far more likely to get their old customers back if they just went back to what worked twenty years ago.
That sums up WWE in a nutshell: They should be giving Network subscribers a far more diverse lineup of programming while simultaneously going back to ideas that worked twenty to twenty-five years ago to improve the current product.
Yeah, why isn't the JBL and Cole Show a thing on the Network? No one has ever bothered to explain that.
ReplyDeletePuppet H.
ReplyDelete#HOSSAPPROVED
exactly the reason i dropped my subscription.
ReplyDelete#HOSSAPPROVED
ReplyDeleteExactly!! I'm barely interested in Raw anymore, I stopped watching Smackdown.. I could care less about the PPV's now. No reason to pay $9.99 anytime soon..
ReplyDeleteThe WWF TITLE.
ReplyDeletewould you even need those kids. hand Zack Ryder a camera and let's go.
ReplyDeletethe big difference - and also the reason why many think it will/would succeed: the other things were either attempts at trying to put stupid non-wrestling stuff into wrestling... or even just trying to do stupid non-wrestling stuff altogether. the Network on the other hand is an idea that's build on their key business: a wrestling promotion doing a wrestling channel.
ReplyDeletethe problems at the moment doesn't even seem to be "bringing in new subscribers" but "keeping the ones who already did".
ReplyDelete
