....I just wanted a catchy name like Princess. Anyhow, Aces & Eights? We dunno. What we do know is that it's Chavo Guerrero's debut and we have AJ Styles vs. James Storm and Kurt Angle vs. Bully Ray.
If they keep treating Joey like this, he's going to be a BIG star when they pull the trigger on having him compete every week. He's one of the few guys they've featured in the Gut Check Challenge that actually has all the tools. Really happy with how they're letting this play out.
Really good match with just an awful ending. I'm intrigued by Aces and Eights and it can go a million different ways but ruining awesome matches and the just terrible "let's go to commercial in the middle of it without actally resolving the match" totally sucks. INTEREST LEVEL: DOWN.
especially the Joker face paint. that shit should be for a chaotic evil character, not a lawful stupid one. But yeah, if Sting were 40, seeing him in the ring would depress me so much.
If this is a red herring with Storm, I applaud it. Would show a rare level of awareness on the heels part, taking advantage of Roode's dislike of Storm.
I could get behind Darsow getting "inside" remarks every week from other wrestlers:
"Hey, what's your dad's handicap?" "Tell your dad to stop trying to take my car." "Who are you supposed to be, Smush?" "Your dad must admire Bully Ray." ... and so on.
I'm liking both Kenny King and Zema Ion, though Ion has a terrible name. I must not have been paying close attention, because I don't remember King being this athletic in ROH.
Oh, he absolutely was. He's probably one of the best pure athletes they've had in awhile. He was really wasted in the tag team with Rhett, but Rhett REALLY needed to be carried, and King was game enough to do it.
See, Bully Ray saying "I said early today on twitter"...is much more realistic and tolerable than "RAW IS TRENDING ON TWITTER RIGHT NOW!" or "THIS INSULT IS SO FUNNY IT'S GOING TO TREND ON TWITTER!".
I'm waiting to watch this tomorrow because I still had kid-wrangling duties & missed the beginning. So I'd like to take this opportunity to say: Velvet Sky just left TNA, and if she signs with WWE, I fucking called that shit! Also I'd bet that signals another reason why Chris Sabin might retire.
It's pretty clear Roode is at least working with the Aces & 8s now. Dude most likely orchestrated the attack on himself to throw everyone off. The Storm story is way too easy. Which is a much better alternative than Jarrett leading the group.
Does this make me the heroin then?
ReplyDeleteWE WANT JOEY RYAN!
ReplyDeleteSting's face paint is so ridiculous. You're like 40 dude, grow up.
ReplyDeleteEveryone's music sounds exactly the same to me.
ReplyDeleteSting was 40 in 1999.
ReplyDeletePLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come out as Kerwin White!!!
ReplyDeleteI love how their acting like Chavo is gonna make a difference.
ReplyDeleteBringing in Chavo as a name job guy for the X-Division isn't the worst idea in the world, but I really hope they don't plan on pushing him.
ReplyDeleteWayne Arnold sighting.
ReplyDeleteBut he's a game changer....on every level.
ReplyDeleteIt's a scissor party!
ReplyDeleteHaving regular wrestlers make front office decisions is really stupid.
ReplyDeleteI applaud the "Rashard Cameron Bowel Movement".
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not tv pg
ReplyDeleteVicki would make a bigger difference.
ReplyDeleteWait, they're going to have him cut a promo for a debut!?! Do they realize they have Chavo and not Eddie?
ReplyDeleteAnd now Kid Kash is going to talk. Are the people who run Impact awake right now?
ReplyDeleteKid Kash is like a less talented hick version of Daniel Craig.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who thinks they should go through with Storm being behind Aces and Eights?
ReplyDeleteYou and Vince Russo.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jesse Baker
ReplyDeleteNow now... that's a bit harsh.
ReplyDeleteAlso, NO to Shaw. I'm honestly not impressed by him.
It's a way better idea than Bischoff or Hogan.
ReplyDeleteIf they keep treating Joey like this, he's going to be a BIG star when they pull the trigger on having him compete every week. He's one of the few guys they've featured in the Gut Check Challenge that actually has all the tools. Really happy with how they're letting this play out.
ReplyDeleteNot better... but that's like asking someone if they'd rather watch Big Show vs Cena for the 38th time, or Sharmell vs Jenna for the second time.
ReplyDeleteClaire Lynch must need some Ex-Lax.
ReplyDeleteHyperbole.
ReplyDeleteThis match is picking up nicely.
ReplyDeleteMan, these two have some CRAZY good chemistry.
ReplyDeleteBooooooooo that ending. I was digging that match though.m
ReplyDeleteReally good match with just an awful ending. I'm intrigued by Aces and Eights and it can go a million different ways but ruining awesome matches and the just terrible "let's go to commercial in the middle of it without actally resolving the match" totally sucks. INTEREST LEVEL: DOWN.
ReplyDeleteGreat TV match, although kinda hard to get into knowing that finish was coming.
ReplyDelete..I'd like to tell you AJ put up a good fight, and Aces a Eights let him be..
ReplyDelete...I'd like to tell you that...
...but TNA is not a fairy tale place.
especially the Joker face paint. that shit should be for a chaotic evil character, not a lawful stupid one. But yeah, if Sting were 40, seeing him in the ring would depress me so much.
ReplyDeleteHey now, there's at least two categories- generic rock, generic rap and RVDhorrible.
ReplyDeleteShut up Butt-head.
ReplyDeleteIf this is a red herring with Storm, I applaud it. Would show a rare level of awareness on the heels part, taking advantage of Roode's dislike of Storm.
ReplyDeleteIf he's actually the leader, not so good.
I really liked it when they were at the "one run in per episode" pace, last week they seemed to be involved every other match.
ReplyDelete"Lawful Stupid"... populated by Sting, Lex Luger, and Dustin Rhodes (pre-Goldust), among many other dumb, dumb faces.
ReplyDelete"He was a Russian sympathizer..."
ReplyDeleteAwesome.
Sam Shaw is a homeless man's Randy Orton.
ReplyDeleteAnd "Was your dad a Russian?" "No, Russian Sympathizer.": Very nice.
Aries with a Repo Man joke! IS THERE ANYTHING HE CAN'T DO?
ReplyDeleteLOL at the Repo Man joke..
ReplyDelete"I hope your dad's repo business is doing good!" was awesome too.
ReplyDeleteHopefully his dad's golf game is also doing well.
ReplyDeleteWAY TO GO THERE, BRUCE PRICHARD! Way to walk into the shot... total "OH SHIT" reaction from him, too.
ReplyDeleteI could get behind Darsow getting "inside" remarks every week from other wrestlers:
ReplyDelete"Hey, what's your dad's handicap?"
"Tell your dad to stop trying to take my car."
"Who are you supposed to be, Smush?"
"Your dad must admire Bully Ray."
... and so on.
(Oops, I somehow missed the Repo Man remark.)
Man... what I wouldn't do for a Kenny King/Shelton Benjamin match. They'd TEAR SHIT UP.
ReplyDeleteI'm liking both Kenny King and Zema Ion, though Ion has a terrible name. I must not have been paying close attention, because I don't remember King being this athletic in ROH.
ReplyDeleteOh, he absolutely was. He's probably one of the best pure athletes they've had in awhile. He was really wasted in the tag team with Rhett, but Rhett REALLY needed to be carried, and King was game enough to do it.
ReplyDeleteDid they really never wrestle in ROH?
ReplyDeleteGood match but what the hell, another cheap finish?
ReplyDelete"TWITTAH!!" - Bully Ray
ReplyDeleteSee, Bully Ray saying "I said early today on twitter"...is much more realistic and tolerable than "RAW IS TRENDING ON TWITTER RIGHT NOW!" or "THIS INSULT IS SO FUNNY IT'S GOING TO TREND ON TWITTER!".
ReplyDelete...why would his dad admire Bully Ray?
ReplyDeleteOnly in ANX vs. WGTT. Shelton doesn't really do many solo matches in ROH.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting to watch this tomorrow because I still had kid-wrangling duties & missed the beginning. So I'd like to take this opportunity to say: Velvet Sky just left TNA, and if she signs with WWE, I fucking called that shit! Also I'd bet that signals another reason why Chris Sabin might retire.
ReplyDeleteAries/King vs. Roode/Ion next week? Yes please.
ReplyDeleteBlacktop Bully. That might be a little too inside though.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a wasted opportunity - although I guess the WGTT/ANX feud just started "recently". Still kinda surprises me.
ReplyDelete#SonicCarhop
ReplyDeleteVelvet....wasn't all that good.
ReplyDelete...Kurt came straight from the honeymoon to the ring.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you come back from a commercial for THREE SECONDS?!?!
ReplyDeleteJesus, Mary, John, Paul, George and Ringo...I HATE that..
Actually thought Angle was having a heart attack for a sec when he was climbing for the moonsault.
ReplyDeleteThe Butcher is behind all of these attacks.
ReplyDeleteA pretty good end segment.
ReplyDeleteHence why she'd be better off in WWE than in TNA where the women actually wrestle.
ReplyDeleteHe should wear wrestling gear comprised of all the outfits his dad has worn over the years.
ReplyDeleteAnother week, another solid show.
ReplyDeleteAs for Aces and Eights, I'm hoping it's someone new or out of the spotlight now. (NOT Bischoff though. Let it be someone who can use the push.)
I know I'm crazy and all but (puts on flame suit), this show was better than RAW 1000.
ReplyDeleteCheck out Davey-Kenny from ROH Big Bang.
ReplyDeleteYou're not crazy. You just like wrestling more than you like sports entertainment.
ReplyDeleteI watched both shows, and look at me, I'm smug free!
ReplyDeletePretty much.
ReplyDeleteSam shays kinda sucked
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty clear Roode is at least working with the Aces & 8s now. Dude most likely orchestrated the attack on himself to throw everyone off. The Storm story is way too easy. Which is a much better alternative than Jarrett leading the group.
